Thanks! Yup, I spent about a year in level 1. Last summer was my Level 2 summer. There's nothing better than experience and repetition to iron out the kinks. Consistent, successful launches in a level are an indicator of being ready for the next step.
Hi Max! I don't think I'll ever reach outer space, but a couple amateur rocketeers have. Their videos are on TH-cam. As for the levels, Estes rockets where we all start and are classified as "model rockets." The motors are small with impulse ranges from A to E. Mid power rockets are beefier and are launched with F and G impulse motors. High Power Rocketry is divided into three levels and you must certify to launch in each level, which means you must successfully launch and recover a rocket without damage. Level 1 uses motors in the H and I impulse range. Level 2 uses J, K and L size motors. Level 3, which I just successfully completed allows me to use motors in the M, N and O impulse range. I think I can successfully achieve 30,000' in altitude someday. As for what is going on here, think of high power Rocketry as RC airplanes on meth.
@@kurtanp Thanks for the information and congratulations on reaching level 3! I will take a look on the video you sent and check the websites! Do you 3D-print much of the stuff for the rocket? I believe there to be alot of maths and trial and error going into this kind of hobby.
@@maxwinlof6167 , Hi Max! I have a 3D printer and am teaching myself CAD to start designing and printing parts. Not there yet, though. There are a couple kit manufacturers like wildman.com, macperformance.com, locprecision.com, and suppliers like apogee rockets.com where you can get kits, parts and motors. Yes, this is a trial and error hobby. Being able to launch and recover successfully and consistently is how your step up in the levels.
Congrats 'Kurt'!!!
I achieved Level 1, November 2022 but want to do a couple more Level 1 flights before going to Level 2 testing and flight.

Good job. 50 miles is getting closer. 😉
What is going on here exactly? Are you trying to achieve a height where you reach outer space? I also wonder what the levels are all about.

Max, take a look at NAR.org, the national association of rocketry and Tripoli.org, devoted to high power rocketry.
