    I it true that Neewer and Meike are the asme company? Because I think that for instance this lens is not the same as a Meike 35 1.2, I honestly don't even konow if that exists. I asked you this because people say that the Meike 35mm f1.7 is the Neewer 35mm f1.7, I don't know wether to believe them or not. I just konw how much I love the way you presented artistically the results you got without charts or other common methods of measurement. ♥

    Wonderful review! I would love it if you could review other cheap(er), new lenses for mirrorless. A welcome change to all the 'technical' reviews of something which really is meant for creating art :)

    Stellar review. It is amazing how fast these Chinese manufacturers learn to make good lenses at decent prices. Very impressive.

    The focus ring is made of metal and not plastic. I tested this by using the tip of my tongue. I know that this sounds unusual but it's the best way to tell if lenses are made of metal or plastic. When it's cold it's metal.

    I have this lens, and I am thinking of returning it to the seller. At f1.2 at 4m focus distance the focus ring reaches the infinity mark. At f16 the max focus distance is about 10 m. Otherwise , nice bokeh and sharp enough up to 10m at f16.
    It's definitely not for general use but if you do art photography, and spend time learning what this lens can do , you might be able to use it . The Meike 35mm f1.4 is a much better option.

    • @marcj6265
      @marcj6265 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine also focuses beyond infinity. It reaches infinity focus at approx. 7 meters on the scale. I really don't mind this as long as it reaches infinity focus. I prefer this to a lens that doesn't reach infinity.

    Interesting review. I'm quite a fan of these manual Chinese made lenses. I bought a 7Artisans 25mm for my Fuji XPro1 and it's razor sharp. Compact, smooth, with good but limited bokeh all for just over £100. You really can't ask for more as long as you can handle manual focus and for an old git like me it's no trouble at all.

    • @northstar1950
      @northstar1950 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interestingly this old git has just bought an X Pro 1 in really nice condition for attaching his many and varies vintage glass but he has found the focus peaking on the Fuji isn't as good as the focus peaking on his Panasonic GX7. The Fuji, nice as it is, has white peaking which isn't s easy to see as the nice blue peaking on the GX7.

    • @alanstanway6118
      @alanstanway6118 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@northstar1950 yes I agree. Overall I love the XPro1 but the peaking isn't up to later models

    • @borderlands6606
      @borderlands6606 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@northstar1950 I have an X-Pro1 and a GX80 *and* the 7Artisans 25mm f1.8. The Fuji's focus peaking isn't as crisp, but it's perfectly usable with a 100% click of the thumb wheel. As you would expect the 7Artisans never completely sharpens up at the corners, and unlike modern lenses is optimum at about f11. However it has lovely colours and is sufficiently sharp for a 24" print. It would be nice to try it, and the Neewer 35mm 1.2 on a film camera. I suspect they would give very Barnack Leica-like rendition.

    • @zenography7923

  • @okay1904
    @okay1904 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice review. But the product is a bit limiting...At some point in time, an APSC user will want to upgrade to a FF, or at least have one FF in their arsenal, and this lens will become a cludge... Kind of penny wise, pound foolish. Lenses and mirrorless cameras(because they do not have major moving parts), are some of the really good long term investments we can make in photography. I hate to think what the retail value of this limited approach to a lens will be - both in terms of limiting the end user, and in an inability to get anywhere near your investment back, should you wish to sell. I pass... on this one..

    • @zenography7923
      @zenography7923  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know what you mean, but still, as an aps-c only lens, this one is a lot of fun!

    Before I discovered your channel, I would immediately lose interest in a lens if whoever was reviewing it mentioned lack of sharpness. That's because I'm used to cropping a lot, its like a post-production zoom haha. But after watching your videos I actually purchased a Canon FD 75-200mm for my Fuji X-T100 and I love it. It's very useful for candid shots on the street and the inferior sharpness compared to my kit lens. I'm currently looking for a 25mm or 35mm prime and of course I came to you! You, sir, are a godsend, please keep up the good work!

    After watching I looked at the Neewer website to price the lenses in US $s The price is good for a new lens.
    I wonder why they are choosing to make lenses mostly for Sony and I think one or maybe two for Canon (EF?). Perhaps in time they will broaden their intended market?
    Engraved numbers and markings on the lens would be a helpful improvement.
