    True artists are willing to suffer for their art. What sucks is when people subject themselves to excessive diets and training for the sake of fame and money.
    BTS chased those things, but kept artistry the main priority, which is why their music has more depth and meaning.
    Another great reaction. Thanks!

    This is a great series! Aneesa (the creator of The Rise of Bangtan) shared that she has been working on this series (her labor of love) for over 3 years! She is taking viewer on a journey step-by-step from BTS' perspective not looking back on their days but living through them (with them). She edits their content to allow BTS to speak their thoughts, through their experiences at the time because BTS has been documenting themselves since BEFORE their debut, so there is A LOT of material to edit down to tell their story! She also gives an overview of the KPop history for those who are not familiar with the industry. She uses clips from different video clips of other idols/ journalists interviews to try to give a broader perspective of the industry. Her skill as a professional video editor really shines through. Amazing work! I think many ARMY really like this series (besides it being extremely well made), she doesn't try to interpret what "she thinks" BTS is trying to say, she just shows the viewers exactly what they said and shared about what their thoughts were at the time. She is an "OG" KPop fan and BTS fan since pre-debut! She also shared that BTS has been the light in her darkness for many years now. *(Cr: "FY" on yt)*
    I think it's important to notice the differences between BTS' worries and the other trainees worries. BTS' were worried about their own personal skills (not dancing well enough, song worries, etc), about not getting attention when they debut due to their small company, not having money, etc. While the other trainees seem to be living in fear of being cut from the company at any moment if they make one mistake, worrying about weight quotas, etc. BTS stayed until late hours because they WANTED to, while the other trainees HAD to. Obviously BTS had things they had to do too, they could've not made it to debut as Jimin almost did due to short training, but instead of using that as a fear to hold over them Bighit seemed to use it to encourage them to work harder and improve themselves. BTS were allowed to make mistakes without worrying they'd be thrown out of the company.
    I'm very glad that they all signed with Bighit, and that Bighit has caused a shift in the Kpop industry, lots of newer companies are giving their groups more freedom and treating them better due to BTS' success. These companies see that idols don't need to be punished and forced to do things in order to succeed, BTS are proof that freedom and happiness should be the most important thing. *(Cr: "Shannon" on yt)*
    Now plz understand this 1st & 2nd episode shows two sides, one is typical k-pop system and how the labels/industry work, whereas subtle hints of BTS and bighit being contradictory different is shown, BTS is different from other K-pop groups and BigHit is different from other idol music companies. These first few episodes can be misleading because it makes you think BTS management follows these guidelines the other idol members from other companies are talking about, but BTS and BigHit don't do those things. Notice how when it is said idols don't have a lot of creative freedom, you see Namjoon and Yoongi writing lyrics, or when it says idols have phone bans or something, you see the BTS members on their phones, or how when idols say they aren't allowed to go outside the dorm, you see Yoongi walking around freely. It can be a confusing thing for new ARMY to make note of, but PLEASE notice these differences. It is vital to how BigHit runs differently, and therefore why BTS is so different from other idol groups from the very start. *(Cr: "Kayla Kulik" on yt)*

    It really gives you a whole different perspective watching them “from the beginning”. This series is really great. You can see that it was not all sunshine and rainbows from the beginning. They really did work hard and all had their own personal struggles to deal with.
    But please don’t feel obligated to watch this. If you’d rather first listen to some of their music and see if it is something you’d enjoy then please do that. Starting the journey from the beginning can be a lot but it will be worth it if you are actually into it. Just remember this is YOUR own journey with BTS. No matter what anyone tells you to do or suggests if you see something you like just click it! That’s just how it goes!
    It’s nice to have you here 💜 borahae

    Jin was the youngest in his family, so he went from being the youngest in his family, to being the oldest hyung in BTS. Also, remember that when they talk about their age, it's two years younger, because Korean age is different - at birth you are 1 year old, and you become a year older on New years. So you could be born on December 31st, and you would turn 2 yrs old on January 1st in Korea. But Globally, your real age would be 1 day old. Also, remember to play the videos to the end, because there are a lot of gems at the end of the videos. Like the cover they did at the end.

    Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. So glad u started this series. Aneesa the creator of this docu series is an editor. It took her 4 yrs of research to create 20 plus chapters. Many army don't want this series to end. Aneesa has to do more research to tell the rest of BTS story. She sadly does not have much help. She got promoted at work at last. So she has no time to work on the last 3 chapters. This is why she deleted her channel. Sigh. We were all so upset. I am glad she posted back the vids. Her stuff gets better as it goes. Wait till u see the rest. have tissues with u though. Pang PD is such a progressive thinker. I adore him. RM learned Eng by watching the TV show Friends. RM adores Nas a US rapper. He listens to a lot of Western rap. Jimin was the last member to join. He was with them 6-8 months. Aneesa did an interview a few years back with a reaction channel. Hope u can check that out. RM practiced dance for 3 yrs. U bet he learned a thing or two. =0p Actually, it took 2 yrs before they saw their families in person. Like it's really harsh if ur in a small company. They worked so hard. I like Big Hit's training system way better than many other agencies. It's not perfect but it's better. Hopefully BTS can make more changes to the agency when they get back in 2025. If u pay attention u will see that there is a difference between BTS and other groups. BTS training was hard but they also had fun. Good job gal. No one really remembers V until 2nd part. Appreciate u watching the whole video. Loved that cover they did at the end. This is why I am a strong vocal line supporter. =0] Angels the lot of them. U can watch all the vlogs on here. Everything Aneesa used is still up on YT. Excited to hear your thoughts on ch.2. Hugs. -NY USA 2019 Army💟

    Kpop is not a genre actually, it's an industry because groups can choose whatever genre they want. I know you can listen to like one or two songs from a singer or group and get the gist of their sound but with BTS, their discography is so varied that you need to listen to a variety of the music to get who they are.
    Rayna said on 1/29/22
    The first thing to understand is, that "K-Pop" is not really just a genre, it's more a whole industry..
    As SUGA (one of the BTS members) once said:
    "I’m a little careful to talk about K-pop as a genre, because I don’t want to be defining Kpop as a genre. I’m a little bit wary of that, but I think rather than approach Kpop as a genre, a better approach would be ‘integrated content.' K-pop includes not just the music, but the clothes, the makeup, the choreography…all these elements I think sort of amalgamate together in a visual and auditory content package, that I think sets it apart from other music or maybe other genres so again, as I said, rather than approach K-pop as it’s own genre I think approaching it as this integration of different content would be better.”
    BTS is more than just K-Pop.
    @aellerica6380 said on 7/19/23
    A few comments. First off, when Jin said his parents weren’t around to take care of him he only meant that he was living with the members and not his parents. He was the baby in his family and then suddenly became the oldest of 7
    Rise of Bangtan original channel had over 100k subscribers when it was pulled. The captions say this is an army edit, and yes Aneesa is army but the concept and execution and editing is all the work of one person, Aneesa. It was a project she actually started back in 2017 and aired the first episode on TH-cam in January 2021. Each episode just gets better and better. There are also deleted scenes for episode 1 and 2 and then also bonus content starting episode 3
    I’m super happy you were referred to this series because it is truly professional quality and Aneesa is a heck of a good story teller.
    I’m looking forward to the next part of your BTS journey 💜😃🇨🇦
    @aellerica6380 said on 7/19/23
    I found it. “But also, as Bangtan’s career continues to thrive, the more incomplete the series feels to me. I never expected it to reach so many people and, had I known it would grown so much, I might have added more explanation and clarity within the narrative. For these reasons I’ve decided that TRoB will no longer be available on this channel'.
    @tammarabg8174 said on 7/19/23
    I am excited that you are doing this series. Aneesa put a lot of work into this project. She was a kpop fan before BTS debuted. She felt it was important to put in the history and talk about the big music companies training practices. She noticed BTS because they were different.
    Just a heads up on the ages. The members are giving you their Korean age. You need to subtract one or two years Most of the members were born September-December, so subtract two years. J-Hope and Suga were born in February and March respectively, so usually you can just subtract one year. Korean age is counted by years you have lived in, not by the sets of 365 days you have lived. V was born December 30 1995. That was the first year that he lived in, so he was one. Two days later, January 1st, 1996, that is the second year he lived in, so he was now two. When the boys debuted, Jin was 20 and JK was 15.

    Making music, at least for me, should be synonymous with freedom, even if your role as an idol is to deliver a show with choreography, vocals, rap, and that sort of thing. The point is that the kpop industry (and the music industry itself) not only feeds perfection through skills, they also demand an unattainable standard of beauty that has already put several people into depression and others that have acquired an eating disorder. I've been following the music industry for a long time to know that in the West the weight of beauty is high, especially for women, but I think that in kpop this stands out to the point of being a requirement for someone to debut. Many people don't manage to debut or don't survive long within a group because they don't meet the standard, even if that person is talented, even if they are unique. And I've seen cases of idols who seem completely unprepared to be performers and yet they are there, because they are as pretty as dolls. That's why I disagree with the vid, the kpop formula of training based on meritocracy instead of focusing on enhancing each idol's unique skills only supports an inorganic system in which creativity is extremely limited and everything has to be standardized. For example, a member of Le Sserafim studied opera and this is not in the group's songs, have you ever thought how cool a group would be that incorporated opera into pop music? So I see platforms like Tiktok or even YT as a good source for the emergence of artists who, despite not having prior training, over time became very influential for music - like Justin Bieber, for example, which appeared on the internet. It's also an opportunity for small musicians who don't have much of a chance trying to get on big labels. At the same time, I understand that both industries are controlled by their sponsors and entertainment and broadcasting companies, so it's difficult to want everything to be 'organic' or 'correct'; there will be unhealthy methods one way or another. But I think that, yes, there should be mediation. BTS, for example, I see that they manage to build these bridges between their individual skills within the group and that they emerged in a company without resources and that had a proposal to bring conscious and true music, but not even they escaped several systematic positions when being inserted in an industry that most of the time values everything except music.
    34:50 the guy who won 1st place was a bighit trainee and temporary member of BTS but leaves the group along with a lot of other people after they changed the project from a hiphop group to a kpop group. Only Namjoon, Yoongi and Hoseok remained from the original line up.

    I always found it interesting that Jin was the youngest in his family, but when he joined Bangtan, he had to assume the hyung role for SIX guys. Also for all the ages mentioned in this, you need to subtract 1-2 years to get their global age. Until recently Korea was using a different system for age. So Jungkook was actually 13~14 when he started, RM was 18, Jin was 20 etc.
    YESSS Jimins legs were fvcking amazing!! I find that with classically trained dancers really obvious example. Ballet dancers. Like whaatt?? Their muscles?? Gym bros could only dream.

And Bang Shi-Juk is a genius to find and nurture these hidden gems, he was really a visionary! I'm answearing as I watch so I'm sorry if your question gets answeared later in video and I'm spaming you with this reply...
    3:23 It's not mentioned in this video but he changes his name later in their career, like 4 years after debut (in 2017). He wrote a message that he feels that the name doesn't suit him/or defines him anymore.
    31:58 In my opinion everything has its limits. There certain things that have to be done if you want to reach success - hard work, dedication, basically no social life is kinda expected and that's okay... but some companies take it too far and don't even consider that trainees and idols are human beings and not machines. The saddest thing is that some nasty training methods are considered normal over there and if it's within law you can do nothing about it but leave or get over it. I can't imagine how many of them must have felt after going through harsh training and investing everything just for them not debuting or debuting but not surviving bcs of big competition.
    43:22 OMG OMG OMG you are not moron cause you realized he is missing and even remember why! You have noidea how many reactors saw this video and didn't even realize omeone is missing even after seeing "next time" clips and some of those reactors were reacting to them for a long time I must say. This journey will be a roller coaster of emotions. You are right about Jimin’s legs lol. He has a dancer’s body. Even when he is just standing his feet are always in first position. When he became a trainee he was still in high school. Him and V were at the same high school as trainees. He use to be bullied because he had a thick Busan accent and he had chubby cheeks so he was called fat when he wasn’t. V use to defend him. Also the age they say they are was Korean age. So when JK said he was 16 he was actually 14/15. V was hidden until debut because agencies tended to lure trainees from other agencies and V was beautiful and so innocent so Big Hit was trying to keep him safe. KPop is a very tough industry. 💜💜💜💜 I believe that JHope wore a mask because he was called ugly (if you see him at the 2022 MAMA’s.....). The man is finnnneee.

    i used to think being a k pop idol was horrifying and it makes me sad that so many kpop fans dont dig deeper and are willing to continue to spread the propaganda. so like all industries there are bad parts but kpop is not any worse of a industry than any of the entertainment industries that exist here in the west. a lot of western kpop and non kpop fans gasp and gawk at these headlines and news about different idols getting hurt or abused and then proceed to blame the industry removing individual accountability and demonizing the entire thing which feels pretty racist because it is. american/english speaking media uses the fact that many western people dont know much about korea or kpop and they exaggerate, use propaganda, lie, and use harmful stereotypes and language to continue the cycle in hopes of western people not doing their own research.
    we arent supposed to just accept the abuse we see if a label does something wrong we should put pressure to call it out example how loona fans helped them escape the label by boycotting their music and content so the members can get out of the label without the label continuing to make money on them. fans have that power whether in korea or globally. but because of so many of us not knowing korean or japanese or chinese or thai etc depending on the idol it is easy for us to be swayed and misinformed even for people to pretend to be speakers of the language and wrongly translate or make up stuff. the same way random twitter users can do that so does mainstream english media. they do not do proper research cause the journalists either dont speak the language or have a bias against kpop either being racist or being a self hating person from that culture so they purposely report on the wrong things usually negative and they purposely make it seem like its the entire industry.
    example here in this documentary a man says "stars are born kpop idols are not born they are made" that seems like a normal sentence except for the fact a lot of american and western artists were also "made" look at how many pop stars were on barney or mickey mouse club house or were on shows like american idol, the voice, x factor how many artists signed 360 deals or what labels back what artists, what marketing did they use how do tiktok algorithms help the songs go "viral" how do the grammys pick their winners etc so many top mainstream artists were "made" and many of them had connections and werent just random talented people who became famous by accident. then when you dig into each artists issues you start connecting the dots example how many artists have drug problems, how many of them are predators, how many of them tried to sue their labels, how many were blackballed to make it seem like they were one hit wonders etc
    the american/ western music industry is very corrupt but trys to redirect that attention to korea to make themselves look like theyre so much better and more "real" etc when theyre just using ignorance and racism to push that narrative.
    a very tiny example is "kpop idols cant drink, cant get tattoos, cant smoke" meanwhile so many idols do all of those things. now imagine what they lie about thats more serious. im sure there are kpop labels who go overboard im not trying to defend and say kpop is rainbows and sunshine and doesnt deserve criticism but a lot of people should focus on their own backyards before pointing fingers and try to realize the real reason the west tries to point fingers is so western people decide to not support foreign music so those artists dont come over here and take the spotlight off the western artists. thats why when a idol gets into a scandal they ALWAYS put bts name or picture somewhere on the articles or news reports to try to drag bts name down. and the more artists that get big theyll do the same with them.
    heres what RM said in a interview a few months ago which sums it up really good
    "People in the West just don't get it. Korea is a country that has been invaded, devastated, torn in two. Just seventy years ago there was nothing. We were getting help from the IMF and the UN. But now, the whole world is looking at Korea. How is that possible, how did that happen? Because people are working fucking hard to improve themselves. You are in France or the UK, countries that have been colonizing others for centuries, and you come to me with "oh God, you put so much pressure on yourselves, life in Korea is so stressful!". Well, yes. That's how you get things done. And it's part of what makes K-pop so appealing. Although of course there are shadows, everything that happens too fast and too intensely has side effects."
    youll learn more as you go through the chapters and when you react to boracity mags videos :)

    Girl, Jimin's thighs probably have their own fandom. I don't think it's weird to say he has beautiful legs. Many people think the same as you 😄
