A KO tangent (yes yes boo hiss and all that): The Warbotron mold was good (albeit riddled with tolerance issues), but the Jinbao KO OS of it 'changed' the game for me by fixing all of the flaws and improving on the quality. I had no faith in a KO combiner until then, and till today it stands proudly on my desk with one arm holding out the ginormous rifle and the other arm outstretched holding a transformed legend-class Shockwave. It stood like that for years, without any sagging or weakening. I mention this because I remembered a video "how do they hold up" from you where you had a Predaking (Ares?) doing the splits after moving away a coffee cup. The only drawback of the Jinbao KO is that it is only 45cm (Hasbro Titan Class) and not 50 like 'true' MP-scale combiners.
I'm in on MMC's Bruticus set for a few reasons: 1. Engineering. The all-inclusive gimmick is neat and the transformations have been very fun so far. 2. I'm not slavish to any particular style and I think the set looks good in all three modes. 3. I just am not that into Zeta's or UT's.
I just love the G1 accuracy of the MMC set and I am in no way a big fan of the G1 cartoon but compared to the real word ZETA, the mish-mash UT and the dated Warbotron, this set stands out as being more visually appealing to me. I'll never just combine this set and leave it as Bruticus so I've got to enjoy all the modes that a set produces and this MMC one gets top marks from me across the board on that. Personally though I'd love for Planet-X to get their butts in gear and get on with a Fall Of Cybertron Bruticus as that would take centre stage to my entire collection.
I guess my reason for MMC bruticus is the fact that the bots themselves are toonish accurate and cleaner then the unique toys and not fully studio ox like zeta
#1 all inclusive #2 the aesthetic looks the best out of all. I am so in on this line and I am not the biggest mmc fan. But the first 2 are great (wish they had more paint though)
I see MMC for the bots and Zeta for combine mode. I just love how the combine mode for Zeta’s Bruticus is visually appealing and displays presence, but I also like the toon accuracy of MMC’s Combaticons in bot mode. That would be my reason for getting the MMC set. This is also what I’m thinking for Menasor in the same way you’re going to display Fans Toys in bot mode and DX9 in combine mode, and this is if I can still get the DX9 set (saving for Fans Toys at the moment).
Great discussion. My Bruticus is the Warbotron set and I too love the stylized look and aesthetic. If I didn't already have Warbotron I think I would go down the MMC road, I've been a fan of many of their releases thus far. I am not hard set on either toon accuracy or non-parts forming. My draw is, does it look good on the shelf and is it fun to mess with (I'm a tinkerer collector). Right now Warbotorn does that for me, but I could see this set doing it as well.
I am one of those that enjoys transforming my collection; some more than others. Am I the only one that likes the Bad Cube Warpath? While I have the Zeta Bruticus, I find I transform my parts-formers much less if ever. I may be a minority, but for me the MMC version is more about the impressive engineering of the all in one that I can transform without having extra parts sitting around.
I love the Badcube Warpath. Its way less frustrating to transform than the Fans Toys Kup. I'm personally divided between the MMC and UT. I think UT is a more toon accurate for Bruticus. MMC is more toon accurate for pretty much everything else. Though no one has been able to completely nail the G1 toon Bruticus yet and UT and Zeta are the closest. Oh if only someone would just make the definitive set with no drawbacks.
I canceled my regular War Dog order so I could nab a War Dog Veteran Edition off ebay. Love it, love it, love it! I didn't exactly like the XTB Apollyon's complicated transformation, but it was the fragility of the parts that turned me against it, and then Takara's Megs finally gave me what I really wanted anyway. I can deal with BC's complexity though, because I don't feel like I'm gonna break anything. It's worth the difficulty level.
I personally love the toon accuracy some toys have. But what really sells me on the MMC Bruticus is that he’s inclusive. I was never a big fan of combiner limb parts being external accessories.
Your combined mode images are old. Originally they were doing 2 versions of Onslaught, 1 toy & 1 toon resulting in a toy or a toon Bruticus. But now Onslaught & Bruticus are just toon. You have to buy add on pieces(feet, head, chest, & gun) to make it toy accurate.
It seems like the upgrade set for MMC's bruticus (with the bruticus shoes) is meant to give the set a more studio ox look, as the initial release has a more toon look in combine mode
This set, for me, is on it's own. One of the few completed combiners I had as a kid. I took this guy everywhere with me. His individual botmodes (especially onslaught) and his wonky hipped combine mode brings back good memories at grandparents pad.
My reason for loving MMC bruticus is as a fairly young collector (early 20's) neither toy nor toon accuracy massively change my buying habits. For me, it's all about how good a toy is (I play with them a lot) and how they look in their own right. The all built in and clever engineering makes it the most interesting combiner release l ever to me, and the individual bots looks far less compromised than I would expect given that engineering burden
Fansproject Brute max with the shadowfisher kit is my favorite. So far, I'm super excited for OMax's bruticus. I'm in. I like it as it gives me a toon accurate and toy accurate look in the same set. Not a fan of the more resent toon accuracy with hastak MPs, but for some reason the toy bots seem to hit me in the nostalgia heart for both Brute and XTB's Menasor. All of the OMax figures look great in all modes. While I do agree that the set is compromised by the all inclusive nature of it, The bots look great, the alt-modes look on point (brawl being a leopard 1 is so much yes and that all the vehicles are real vehicles), and the bruticus nails it out of the park with the upgrade kit. Not sure why the real world alt-modes thing hits me but to me, that is what a true MP is. I loved zeta toys but feel like they failed with swindle and Unique toys felt like they failed with brawl. Both sets have something I really like about them but both have more that I hate about them. Both have that older grown up MP look that I prefer but fail in one way or another for me. Both have real vehicles but more so fantasy vehicles that are used to fit the bot. Again, not sure why the alt-modes are so important as I don't display them in it, but just to know real world alt-modes are there?
Hello. I am getting the MMC set for two reasons: 1. One thing that has always bugged me about Combiners in general was the fact that they all had to partsform with hands/feet/etc. Some went a step better by making it so the parts needed for combined mode transformed into accessories that could be utilized by the individual 'bots, but that still wasn't what I was hoping for. To me, my ideal combiner was Puzzler. While it wasn't perfect, it made sense that it had everything integrated into each figure to make the complete figure, which not only made it cleaner, but eliminated the possibility of losing a part necessary to make the combined figure. (a tangent: now I REALLY want a modern Puzzler. The No-Throttlebots are good, but just not the same...) 2. I like the fact that while they have made their Bruticus self-contained, they have included the option of the partsforming element with the accessory kit. And like I mentioned above with the partsforming accessories, have made them so become accessories that are not obviously feet/hands/etc. Said parts also dramatically alter the appearance to give variety at a far more affordable price than releasing a another full set with those parts. (Yeah, I'm looking at YOIU, Unique Toys...)
1. I greatly admire the all-inclusive accomplishment. 2. I like how tidy the pieces are in each mode - no bot bits showing in alt mode etc. 3. I only have a few MMC pieces but I am enjoying the transformations. I'm looking at you Fanstoys! 4. I like the look in proportions and purposefulness. I hadn't even considered which rendition it most resembled. It has the right attitude.
I'm getting two separate Combaticon sets, and that's because I like them before for different reasons, and am going to be displaying them in that way. The Zeta toys set i'm ordering is almost always going to be on my shelf or wherever I decide to put it in the combined mode, because I love it's combined aesthetic, while not being a big fan of the alt or robot modes. And then i'm getting the All in One set, which is almost exclusively going to be kept in the robot mode, because I love how it looks in that mode. That's what I love about third party, is that you can pick and choose from different brands and toylines, because you can say 'Hey, I really like this representation of this character, but no so much the other aspects they did with it', and go and search for a version of it that you _do_ like to go along with it.
I’m buying the mmc set for bot mode. Already have bruticon for combined. Also, I can’t believe you don’t have iron factory bruticus. Even if you don’t have any other legends, it’s a phenomenal piece. One that you could display just by itself somewhere. I think it’s actually the only piece in my collection that I doubled up on. One for bot one for combiner. It’s THAT GOOD. A fantastic bonus: when you have them displayed in bot mode, all the extra parts combine to form a bruticus bust. Genius. I wish all the mp combiners did this.
Not owning any of them, and loving Bruticus, I've been going back and forth with the different Bruticus offerings trying to decide how to go about it. Each of them have a different appeal to me, and I think you've explained well how I feel about them Bobby. If money were not an issue, I might just purchase all of them, but it is an issue. So in short, I think I will go with MMC limb bots for individual bot mode, and maybe Warbotron to display with my OS Gravity Builder...Constructor simply isn't my cup o tea. I really like Zeta's Bruticon the most in combined mode, but gets back to the issue of money, cannot justify the combined price as it were knowing the individual bots are blocky...well to quote you "trash".
@fernando Flores. Do you live in Europe by any chance? If so, where do you (pre)order your bots from? And what about shopping costs and taxes from your home country? Im asking, because i wanna start collecting and im from Holland and im unsure about extra taxes by importing this stuff, shipping also costs around $75/99 for a complete combiner from tf source. Or do you know any good European sites for this? Hoping you can help me out, if not Just ignore.
@@danielcurcic1901 Hi Daniel, Nope, I am from Costa Rica, a central american country. I buy locally... The taxes are quite high... But that's because of the policies where I live in... I learned a LOT of these stuff on the TFW2005 forums, there are a lot of good people from Europe, America, Asia and Oceania. The people from Europe buy from Robot Kingdom or from China through Ebay sellers like Bababobo. I suggest you to start an account on TFW2005, and post on the forums about all your questions you may have. Cheers Fernando
@@fernandoflores3161 Hi Fernando, I had a suspicion you were gonna be from either South of central America hahaha. Costa Rica it is, always wanted tot visit there someday in the future. Thanks for your suggestions and help, really appreciate it. I Will look into tfw2005 forum and go from there. Btw, Just to get an image about extra costs. Let's say Zeta toys metallic bruticus goes for $399 on tfsource, what is your local price gonna be? Asking so i get a better understanding of the extra costs. Cheers to you Fernando
I just went in on the mmc set. The scale not measuring up to Zeta was my hesitation all this time, but given nothing available is perfect, this is the best set for me.
I feel this definitely the best toon accurate version seen yet, and I'm glad I held out. I'm all in 100% on this set, Fraudo is in the the mail across the pond as we speak.
I bought the Jin Bao over-sized Warbotron because I got a fantastic deal on it. The launchpad you can set up for Blast-off just looks so sweet as well as the alt modes as a whole, I later had to get the Zeta toys one, just so I can have a combined Bruitcus on my shelf. The alt modes for the Warbotron set definitely wins, hands down.
You asked what is bringing me to purchase this set.......I am in for the robot mode because the way I am displaying mine. I am going with the G-1 set in vehicle mode, MMC for the robot mode and the Veta for combine mode. I am doing this for all of my combiners. I feel that each mode should be displayed in my collection.
What a great discussion, thank you! Drew is correct about the plural being Brutici (if we're all in agreement that "Bruticus" is noun of Latin descent, like Brutus), but we'd probably pronounce it BRU-ti-key in Latin (like filius, filii {sancti}). I am all in on this MMC set. Bruticus was my first complete combiner growing up, and is still my favorite. The MMC offerings have really clever engineering that doesn't send me into a Takara MP rage, and, like you said, the color palette and the face sculpts are SO right on. Toy-accurate, toon-accurate -- whatever; they're character-accurate is all I know. I'm not overly fond of things like Swindle's legs or the lack of die cast, but when I first saw the pictures of these, I literally sighed relief because I could not get excited about any other third party offerings. And, yeah, you should check out the new pictures of Brawl. Absolutely stunning.
I was attracted to this set because of the all inclusive gimmick. I love the fact this isn't following along with the parts forming trend which has become so popular. The bot modes have been looking great and I think the combined mode is looking very promising.
I'm perfectly happy with my Fansproject add-ons for Energon Bruticus. One of my favorites in my collection. I've added with a simple mod PCC HeavyTread as my Brawl. Simply add an Energon male port to the flap on the back end of the tank mode and he fits perfectly. Between Fansproject and Maketoys (and a Hasbro Abominus with an upgrade kit), my combiner collection is complete.
This set doesn't fit my shelf needs, but I'd pick it up just to play around with if money/space weren't an issue. The engineering is interesting and it looks fun. Only Combaticon that I currently own is UT Swindle; he just looks good on my shelf. I can't get past the Zeta box-bots, so no dice there. Still waiting for someone to scratch that Bruticus itch...
OMG. I've had flashes of images from FLIGHT OF DRAGONS in my head for the past few years, but I couldn't remember what they were from and never had any luck figuring it out. That made my day. Probably my month. Time relive another piece of childhood.
Did i hear you right? You can swap some of the limbs between the UT and MMC parts? I have the MMC Onslaught, I think he looks great, but for some reason the MMC Swindle and Vortex aren't doing it for it.
I was never a big enough fan of Bruticus up until MMC/OM came out with their all-in-one design. The engineering aspect attracts me, as does the combination of G1/Toon/Realistic combination in terms of aesthetics. You have the option of making the combined form toon or toy accurate (toy add-on & replacement set). I also like the quality and it shows they put a lot of thought into this combiner. I don't mind the toon look but prefer a more real world/toy look. When all is said and done, I think this will be THE best MP style Bruticus combiner bar none in terms of engineering, articulation, stability, and overall design. Aesthetics is more subjective but the combination of G1/Toon?Real World floats my boat.
Flight of Dragons is a great fantasy movie. Super fond memories of it from my childhood. The song, the animation, the badass dialogue. That whole death speech by Sir Orrin was awesome.
I have Zeta, but because the individual bots are trash, he may as well be a giant Bruticus action figure. Which is fine! But I do want to look at some Combaticons uncombined as I like their designs. Add to that that they are so far all fun to manipulate and transform, and I'm all in. Having the option of sticking them into a toy-accurate (with upgrades kit) combined mode is icing on the cake.
For your question: I went on the MMC take for the indevidual take. For the combine mode, I'll wait for FT. The Zeta one is AMAZING as combine mode, bur such a T R A S H H H H H , for indeviduals. MMC are SUPER LOOK for the bots, and good enoght for the combined mode. They are also going to make Defensor, so I'll go for both Defensor & Bruticus with MMC & FT. With that, I'll be able to swap between them every now and then, somthing I wont be able to do with Zeta (T R A S H H H H BOTS).
For me, I love this set mostly because of the all-in-one aspect. I can tolerate parts forming, but I can *not* get past pantsforming like Zeta does. I want them to combine, not hide inside a giant robot skeleton, and I'm willing to sacrifice articulation to achieve this. I also want to vote with my dollars to support the all-in-one approach. (We all have different priorities. Live and let live.) I also think the engineering is amazing, from what I've seen. I'm a big fan of the designer's other work. I'm generally a G1 toon guy, but not a slave to that aesthetic. I love real-world alt modes, and I can live with departures from the toon to achieve this. I don't mind some toy influence too. Ultimately, I'm more forgiving on Bruticus because I barely remember him from the toon. If it's close enough that I can figure the animators took liberties with the toy design, good enough for me. I get what you're saying, Bobby, about this set not being fully any one thing. It is all-in-one, tho, if you don't use the boots. You're not wrong about the different anesthetic influences, but as you point out, Zeta isn't fully one aesthetic either. At the end of the day, this looks to be a well-engineered set that is pushing the all-in-one envelope in contrast to pantsforming, and that's personally the route I want to take and see more of. Thanks for the video! (And your many others.)
I've got the Jinbao OS KO Bruticus (also Jinbao OS KO Gravity Builder), I like the size, the extra detail, I like the style. But the MMC is looking like the best compliment to a Masterpiece only collection, going for a G1 asthetic. Also I have a soft spot for no-parts-forming so the hands/feet included in the transformation, and the way Swindle prancticly transforms into a rectangle for the leg (very catoonish) is a deffinate plus. But I did go for the OS KO for a reason, pricing and the increase in size for my Masterpiece collection, BUT MMC is making it real tough not to give in on a €600+ set (over here anyway) looking this good. TLDR; I like the Masterpiece easthetic (Realistic(ish) alt mode, G1/Cartoon botmode) and the Toy look of the Combined Mode
Suppose I'll jump in on Mr. Skullface's question at the end there. First off, Bruticus, I feel was my favorite combiner; both in the G1 show and as the toys. My father was a military man, so I'd have to say he was influential in my affinity for military vehicles back then. I also wanted to be an astronaut as a kid, which made Blastoff's shuttle mode a plus. I was about to go in on Zeta's repaint, but the individual bots didn't look right to me. My thoughts-- As long as the individual characters bare a close enough resemblance to the show in bot and vehicle mode, then I'm okay with the combiner being a little off; which is why I hesitated to purchase Zeta's. So when MMC showed off their Bruticus, I felt they're recipe was just right for me; bots and vehicles looked G1, and combined (though smaller than desired) feels pretty darn close too. Sorry, Mr. Skullface, I didn't mean to make this so long winded.
Honestly I just want a bruticus that is fun to mess with and transform back and forth. I dont care if it's cartoon accurate or toy accurate. I just want it to be fun to play with
I bought zeta for combined. I had UT for bot mode but they failed. Two arm bots as you said were not done well. Also never liked the lack of paint for the eyes. Overall paint was flat and lacked life. I’m buying MMC due to the bot modes and accurate colors that pop like they should. Face sculpts that’s look alive. Hoping FT makes one for the win!
Here's What I Wish To Have: When my Transformer is in vehicle mode and rested upon my display area, i would like to have people that view it to believe "you really apreciate that automotive make and model so much so that you gone out and gotten a model to represent what's dear." i want them asking, whether verbally or just in thought, "do you wish you had access to driving that truck [et al]?" I Want As Realistic As Possible Vehicle Modes. The Magic would be that when i dissintegrate that inquisitive notion by picking up the Transformer and altering it, and then end up with a character that we all know and love, which can be expressive of my every whim when i pose it! Of course no visitor in their right mind would be caught completely off guard. But it should be like, "Surprise! This isn't about a love of trucking for me. It represents nobility and compassion and integrity all wrapped up in a imposing form to be reckoned with, full of action!! Nobody wants to dig into their storage container to find a piece in a package that will complete the impulsive whim of expression that one might feel in a singular moment. You don't even rather get up to put different discs into your video game console when you get tired of the game you're playing. When the mood heats up between you and your significant other, do you then want to be lacing up your sneakers, grabbing your keys and wallet, heading outside to the bodega so you can acquire a condom? NO!!! This is why everybody hates parts forming and desires full or integrated weapon storage. When you get inspired, there's not a moment to lose!! Finally, the appeal is that when my fatigued mind needs a bit of escapism, to relax one brain function in favor of a stagnant one, there it is! Whether in vehicle mode or bot mode, i'm pleased to engage in psychological reward as i recall how traverse between the display options of my pvc art. SO THEREFORE: I usually resort to acquiring MMC Ocular Max renditions. And that's why MMC's Bruticus is so compelling. Sphinx is a prime example. But there are instances when other brands do it, like Fanstoys Willis or Takara Tomy Sunstreaker.
I passed on Zeta and UT but just bought Incursus and plan to get the rest of the MMC Combaticons. For me, I like the individual bot modes that look like they stepped out of the cartoon I loved as a kid. Zeta and UT didn't capture that as well for me. I'm one of those who usually display my Combaticons individually, so the individual characters are important to me and I really feel like MMC nailed the G1 cartoon look unlike anyone has before. I did buy Warbotron and the Jinbao set when they came out (am I the only one here who found Warbotron really good quality and the Jinbao set cheap, floppy plastic?) Also got the Fansproject not-Blast Off and Swindle and still love them. Have the Iron Factory Combaticons and that is a fun set- great if you want appealing designs that don't take up too much shelf space!
I am definitely all on on the MMC set. It actually started as a bot of fun between a few fellow reviewers. We wanted to specifically review some MMC in December. However, I love the inclusive gimmick. As far as the add on kit. It's only there, for me, to help it look like the old toy or , more specifically, the IDW version a bit. Great discussion, Dude. 🤘😁🤘
I wasn’t going to get any of the MP styled Bruticus’ due to money and space. I do have the Iron Factory set. After looking at the reviews of MMCs Swindle and Vortex, they both seem to be well made and fun to fiddle with. The combined mode also looks great to me. Brawl looks outstanding and I look forward to that one the most. The only thing that bugs me is the tiny feet. I would like MMC to include a set of feet that match the color of Swindle and Brawl. I will get the extension pack for the feet, if not. I just wish that it did not cost $50ish. Great topic, would do you think about the new pics of Brawl?
With the older MP cars like Sideswipe, Takara combined real world, toon, and toy. They still look great, feel great, and are fun to transform. They seemed like a perfect balance. That's how I view the MMC/Ocular Max Assaultus set. Your review and how you liked their Vortex more and more over time helped me decide to pick it up at TFcon DC. I love how it looks in all modes. The transformation is incredibly fun and smart. Fun factor matters to me. Plus the articulation for arm mode is excellent, especially with the ultra deep elbow bend. I'm in for the set. It will be my first larger/MP scaled combiner. And it can do the super hero landing pose. Because MMC decided not to release two versions of Onslaught, they made the shoe/toy look upgrade set. Onslaught is toon aesthetic. The set works as intended without the upgrade. It's completely optional. I happen to like the upgrade for the shoes, head (Bruticus had both heads in the toon), and gun. The silver toy chest doesn't do much for me. Yes, including it with Onslaught would have been nice, but i can see how that isn't viable from a business standpoint. Releasing the upgrade with toon colored feet would go against the reason it exists.
I’ve got UT for my Bruticus - love the more toon chest piece and overall aesthetic and build and do not care for the mmc combined bruticus but I’ve gotten the 1st 2 pieces of MMC as I was impressed with the bot and alt modes and will definitely get brawl also but am less impressed with onslaught and blastoff aesthetically but am on the fence with them and for once don’t feel compelled to get the entire set. I am super excited for MmC defensor for the toon and playability.
For me it is the all inclusive nature. I love the Zeta Bruticus and can’t wait to own it one day. This will not be my main bruticus. That said, I love fiddling with figures. Transforming them back and forth is one of my favorite things about these figures. And an all inclusive bruticus that looks as good as this thing does? Honestly just the engineering concept alone has me really excited to play with these figures and go back and forth to see just how MMC pull this off.
For me it's the engineering. After ignoring everything else this company has done, Saltus absolutely blew me away. It convinced me that their approach works best for what I'm looking for. Great materials and durability, great engineering and transformations. With the only compromise, being very slight ones to aesthetics or source material. That's the ideal recipe for me. And this set seems to travel down that exact same path so I'm all in.
Bruticus is my favorite combiner, so I’m quite curious to see if this Brutikisses shirt comes to fruition. And, while I’m very happy with my Iron Factory War Giant, MMCicus has been the most appealing to me of the MPs, particularly with his boots to complete the look-not that I’m preordering, though. Still, color and style wise, I like IFicus most of all. Oh, and yes, I saw the Flight of Dragons when I was a youngin in the ‘90’s and loved it. 🤘🏻
I'm honestly just buying the Combaticons because MMC always manages to impress me. I've bought a few of their releases that I didn't want that much just because I knew I would end up enjoying it because they did it.
Whats making me drawn to the ocular max set is the same thing that draws me to the x transbots stunticon set: these figures feel like their respective characters. The aestetics are just right for my taste and they have that old school masterpiece feel with updates that I appreciate. I might even like the ocular max set more simply due to it being non-partsformable, since Ive never been the biggest fan of partsforming on combiners or any figure for that matter. This set will indefinitely be my pick for the best 3rd party bruticus to date once all the figures are finally released.
I only got the Zeta Bruticus. I passed on all the others. I don't care enough about Bruticus to get multiple versions. I do care about Defensor, and I want more Defensor in the future (MP scaled!).
I'm getting the MMC set because the engineering intrigues me. I'm not sure how I feel about the aesthetic look. For my definitive team I'm looking forward to FansToys. Nothing current can match what I expect FT to make based on their history. I could be wrong, but that is where I am.
Nice topic. As for the answer to your question i need to give a little back story: i bought constructor and generation toy gravity builder roughly at the same time. The GT scale was annoying me, so i thought i would go for the TW scale. Now i added zeta bruticus and omega. I kind of hate bruticus because the swindle knee joint buggs the fck out of me 😉. Then i delved into hottoys, so now i have a money and a space problem. Because of the first i will probabely don t buy another bruticus set, although i REALLY love the g1 robot modes of the mmc offerings and the fact that i don t have to store a crotch piece when i out them in robot mode. Because of the space issue, the GT scale is becoming more appealing, also because of the different franchises i collect i already had to adjust my mind to knowing every shelf is a different scale anyway. Kind of eyeballing those new age seekers to go with the combiners 😉. So i will stay with zeta, unless...... Unless fanstoys comes with a set 🤗😁
I loved Flight of Dragons. I used to rent it at least once a month until the owner gave it to me. I can trace my love of dragons to that movie. It’s so cool to hear someone else mention it with the same love I do. Great video man, you always give me something to think about.
What I Love about it is, No parts forming, great looking robot modes, great looking vehicle modes, and to my eyes, they are up there with the most G1 Show accurate offerings in all modes. . What I don't mind is Onslaughts scale. I can totally get behind him being bigger then MP Optimus, and smaller then Gigapower Grimlock, and it makes sense to me that the core of the combiner should be it's largest member. . What I hate. The tolerances. Swindle is a nightmare of a thousand way too many way too tight joints that flex the plastic to a terrifying degree. And Vortex's head literally falls off if I blow on it hard enough.
looking for advice from you, and other viewers. I have the Zeta Set and it's my Bruticus in combined mode. Picked up the toyhax stickers for it, and it looks amazing! i recently picked up the four limbs from MMC of a seller on craigslist. ( a great deal ). I need an Onslaught to complete my individual bots. MMC/Zeta/ Unique Toys all have okay Onslaughts...but wondering what people thing would be the best bet. As i said i have the 4 MMC limbs and like them as my individual Combaticon bots. I could just go with the MMC Onslaught. But i'm not completely crazy about how it looks. Would the Zeta or Unique Toys Onslaught scale well with the MMC bots? would they look good? Just looking for some advice. Thanks.
The new images of Brawl look fantastic. Wasn’t going to get any of these, since I’m looking for the all around super “g1 toon” (mp-44/downbeat/Phoenix) look for my collection. But... I might consider that Brawl because it seems to fit that for sure... but I don’t want to then get the whole set just cause the brawl is great... and what if another set comes out one day that fits my look altogether!? Ah! Choices!
I've always liked the early masterpiece idea of the vehicle modes looking real world which MMC does with this Bruticus. I also like the early masterpiece idea of the bot mode looking animation. I think the combined mode is a little confusing though as it tries to be animation correct without the upgrade kit, but ultimately does not look right because the center of Bruticus is not that white/grey color. But for me, not a big deal as separately they are amazing bots/vehicles. I think without the upgrade parts it definitely accomplishes the "All Built in" perfectly, but with upgrade parts does not. However, with the upgrade parts its an amazing G1 combiner.... so there is that. For me, it's more positives than negatives and looks better that anything else I ahve seen.
Getting these guys for bot mode to go with my Zeta. But honestly, at two in I'm seriously reconsidering. Not because they're bad. Not at all. Because I'm thinking about Fanstoys. I'll have Zeta for Superion & Bruticus and XTB for Menasor (I'm fine with the scale discrepancy) but I'll have Fanstoys for bot mode for the Arialbots & Stunticons. How fantastic would it be to have Fanstoys for all my bot modes for my combiners? Cause I'm pretty sure they've said they're doing them all.
For me, I wanted a set that looked good in all 3 modes. Not really getting the 'non-toon' vibe you mention with Onslaught, as the newest photos look pretty spot-on with the cartoon. Just depends on which chest piece you use really. The vehicles look dead on, the robots look good, and the combiner's height is not really a major issue for me, especially if the 'shoes' give it another inch or so in height, it'll be right in line with all the others. I'm glad you like the Zeta set, and your custom painted one is indeed impressive in combined form, but those robot modes are absolute hot garbage and I won't have them on my shelf because of that. I don't have the room to display all my combiners as gestalts at one time. I'll be going back and forth with them, and I rarely display anything in vehicle mode, but it is sometimes a consideration. . So the Zeta set just isn't worth it to me, as cool as the combiner is, it can't make up for those horrid robot modes. That being said, I did snag their Superion set and I'm very happy with it. Robots look good, jets look good, combiner looks good. Win/Win. Have the Toyworld Devvy too. What really interests me is MMC's tease for the next set in the instructions for these bots, showing off an all-in-one Defensor, and /that/ has my attention. Defensor was my favorite Autobot combiner, and the renders they've shown for it look nigh-on perfect.
Toon look for me..MMC will be the bot/altmodes for me. I am going Zeta torso and UT limbs for Bruticus....but still bought the shoes for MMC, just in case....
MMC have clearly changed lane halfway through the development of this with the add on feet etc. For me, should I want to go combiner plus bots; I’d go with the MMC bots as they look the part. But nothing is coming close to the Zeta in combine mode.
I was interested in the MMC set until I got Vortex. I appreciate the engineering, but he doesn’t stack up to any of my FansToys figures, which means a lot to me. Once Swindle arrived, I was thoroughly disappointed. I’ll be waiting for a FansToys (or similar) release, don’t care when it happens. Otherwise, I’ll go without.
Totally get where you’re coming from with your thoughts on the MMC set, combaticons where my favourite combiner team, I have the Warbotron set, and I’m choosing the MMC not only as I support them as a company but I like their homage to the G1 toy, and subtle homage to the G1 toon character, it’s by no means going to appeal to everyone but I only buy figures that interest me and it has enough interesting things going on engineering and aesthetically to have spiked my interest
While this is not my ideal bruticus (the zeta one is better in my opinion) I am getting this set mostly for the engineering (one of my favorite aspects of a transformer toy) The transformations look to clever and non frustrating given what mmc tasked them self to do
To be honest bruticus is my favourite combiner other then devastater so I have ocular max onslaught and I enjoy it very much the upgrade kit that I ordered a long time ago is coming next week hopefully i am planning on going all in on the ocular max bruticus set because it looks amazing to me if I had a chance I would get toyworlds constructor but I can’t right now so I am happy with my choice
I will keep my Zeta team combined and this MMC team as individual bots. Just like I will keep the XTB Stunticons combined and the FT Stunticons as individual bots. I think every set has its charm. Something that makes each aet special.
i totally agree with your frustration towards g1 toys. like, if youre gonna get me emotionally invested in a character, and then tell me i can obtain said character for my very own, Don't Make Me Track Down The Name Of That Character Only To Find That It's Applied To A Totally Different Thing!! Give me the one you said i can have! It's that sort of bait-n-switch tactic that makes me hate all X-men Movies!
The only drawback of the Jinbao KO is that it is only 45cm (Hasbro Titan Class) and not 50 like 'true' MP-scale combiners.
im ok with the 5cm difference, i have mine sitting next to OSKO Feral Rex and OSKO Gravity Builder, they are a sight to behold.
I have that set also and it’s great
I know this is a year later lol, but I'm with you 100%. My JinBao Bruticus and JinBao Devastator are amazing.
As someone who just got into the nerd rage podcast, lemme just say that every time the horn goes off, it brings me true joy
Holy crap, I tried to think of the name of Flight of Dragons some time back and couldn't figure it out, but that is the one!
I like Bad Cube Warpath quite a bit,may still get the FT version though
I canceled my regular War Dog order so I could nab a War Dog Veteran Edition off ebay. Love it, love it, love it! I didn't exactly like the XTB Apollyon's complicated transformation, but it was the fragility of the parts that turned me against it, and then Takara's Megs finally gave me what I really wanted anyway. I can deal with BC's complexity though, because I don't feel like I'm gonna break anything. It's worth the difficulty level.
I personally love the toon accuracy some toys have. But what really sells me on the MMC Bruticus is that he’s inclusive. I was never a big fan of combiner limb parts being external accessories.
all in cuz of
G1
engineer
sculpt
all in one
playability
Your combined mode images are old.
Originally they were doing 2 versions of Onslaught, 1 toy & 1 toon resulting in a toy or a toon Bruticus.
But now Onslaught & Bruticus are just toon.
You have to buy add on pieces(feet, head, chest, & gun) to make it toy accurate.
Lovely bit of info! thank you. and to learn that warms my ambitions.
And here i thought i was the only person alive who loved flight of dragons; still have my copy for the record :D
I definitely think the plural of Bruticus should be "Brutici"!
No question.
That word reminds me of the singer Avici.
How do you pronounce "Brutici"?
@@GrendelsWish Brew tick eye
I don’t know. I really like Brutikisses myself. LoL
I’m all in for Zeta. Their scale and look is beautiful.
Mr. Skullface, my interest in the Bruitacus is the engineering aspect that you and others have promoted. I guess I'm a tinkerer. Thanks for the vid!
Fanstoys needs to stop playin and just announce their Combaticons
My all time favorite combiner, I may get the MMC one, is the best looking of the bunch, although I may lean towards Unique Toys.
Hello.
I am getting the MMC set for two reasons:
1. The No-Throttlebots are good, but just not the same...)
What makes me to preorder it is the engineering, the all inclusive nature of the combiner is what makes it a masterpiece to me.
I agree any thing else is just kid stuff when I saw MMC's All Built In design I said to my self that's a masterpiece Bruticus I gotta have
@fernando Flores.
Cheers
Fernando
@@fernandoflores3161 Hi Fernando,
I had a suspicion you were gonna be from either South of central America hahaha.
@@danielcurcic1901 For me it would be about $495 or a bit more.
Glad to know I can be of help to you.
Have a nice day.
Thanks for taking the time to post this.
Swindle: We are called combaticons but! Brutcus: I'm also known as Bruticus.
I'm so glad you did Coppa Cabana. I figured nobody would get the reference and didn't bother.
I’d thought that the base set of the mmc Bruticus had the g1 cartoon vibe but then you buy the add on for the g1 toy.
Flight of Dragons is a great fantasy movie. Super fond memories of it from my childhood. The song, the animation, the badass dialogue. That whole death speech by Sir Orrin was awesome.
The honking made me laugh way harder than it should've
I have Zeta, but because the individual bots are trash, he may as well be a giant Bruticus action figure. Which is fine! But I do want to look at some Combaticons uncombined as I like their designs. Add to that that they are so far all fun to manipulate and transform, and I'm all in. Having the option of sticking them into a toy-accurate (with upgrades kit) combined mode is icing on the cake.
For your question:
I went on the MMC take for the indevidual take.
Live and let live.)
I also think the engineering is amazing, from what I've seen.
My combaticons are / will be a mish mash of UT, MMC, and Zeta. But I'm still holding strong to Warbotron Bruticus (with some paint upgrades)
Warbotron Bruticus and Computron are still on my MP shelves. I don't have the money to keep buying combiners.
How is that iron factory bruticus? I've really wanted to pick him up
With the older MP cars like Sideswipe, Takara combined real world, toon, and toy.
I always like how the dragons have eat rocks, grind it in the belly and hock a big fat flame luggy to "breath fire 🔥"
Sounds like a KO of Anne McCaffrey's Dragonriders books.
That Dragon movie was awesome. It really goes back to my most early years (I am from 79) but I was crazy about it.
Basically, I hit the pre-order button because I love the look of them and MMC is one of my top 3 3rd party companies.
It to encompass the history of Bruticus
Unless fanstoys comes with a set 🤗😁
on the third party dinobots that combine auto bot or dino bot logo curious what will they do next.
I loved Flight of Dragons. I used to rent it at least once a month until the owner gave it to me. I can trace my love of dragons to that movie. It’s so cool to hear someone else mention it with the same love I do. Great video man, you always give me something to think about.
Zeta toys Bruticus is my favorite of all the Bruticuses aesthetically
Thanks.
Bobby, do you sell clothing with your art on it?
that flight of dragons bit made my day. now if you can make some cider into milk you can really be my internet jesus.
Ah! Choices!
Oh shoot I remember Flight of the dragons, I just remember that he used science at the end to beat the bad guy who used magic.
😡SPOILERS MUCH?! Damn i was going to check that out!
Thank you Bobby!!! I remember seeing The Flying of Dragons but I totally forgot the name of it!
You...completely skipped the 3rd party bruticus upgrade kit we got from Microblaze Creations for the FoC game....
Love the horn by the way, nice touch!
It is the same horn the circus joker clowns use.
@@thespaceram2879 yep
I love the horn... Keep it.
Totally get where you’re coming from with your thoughts on the MMC set, combaticons where my favourite combiner team, I have the Warbotron set, and I’m choosing the MMC not only as I support them as a company but I like their homage to the G1 toy, and subtle homage to the G1 toon character, it’s by no means going to appeal to everyone but I only buy figures that interest me and it has enough interesting things going on engineering and aesthetically to have spiked my interest
auto-correct failure :P
Just saying hi! Enjoy your vids.
TFs aside, absolutely LOVE Flight of Dragons. Completely underestimated cartoon.
Between zeta and unique toys bruticus, which one is worth getting?
