I love how bobby was so uninterested in the Fansproject Dinobots that he took the literal first image result from Google Images despite it being a TFW2005 post showing off some Planet X dinobots. LOL.
The Whirl came too late for many as his design is way more influenced by his pre-MTMTE look in IDW which seems to fly right over a lot of heads. I like it, it's a great figure and a wonderful representation of the guy who beats Megatron up in his cell.
If you can actually transform him, he looks great in alt mode, not so much in robot, as it's a mess in robot mode. In alt mode, transformation was way more complicated than it needed to be, he looks awesome. The only problem I have with him, in alt mode, is that the top of the plane doesn't quite peg in all the way so there's a very slight gap. Robot mode, he's great if you just want him in a static pose but, terrible if you actually wanted to play with him. If I paid full price, I'd be pissed but, I only paid $95 so it's not bad.
I picked up Kronos on a steep clearance back when one of the retailers took their stock and cobbled together unbroken ones … I have to say, on display and just standing there in a pose I still don’t hate him 🤣 🤣 but I only paid around $70 for him at the time
Have you guys done a Top 5 Most Daring Transformers Figures? All the best times a company took a chance at doing something new or wasn’t popular at the time. The figure itself doesn’t necessarily have to be the best quality.
I don't have five but I have two and they are MMC Whirl and MMC Cyclonus. They're two of my favorite characters from MTMTE, that is my favorite piece of TF lore, done by one of my favorite 3rd party TF action figures companies and they suck to hell and back.
I recently watched your Dream Star Silverbolt video and thought of this video. I can't help but wonder whether the recency bias may have been enough for it to make the list.
5: Transformission Stunticons: The individuals were ok but the combiner was just....not good. 4: NewAge Galvatron: Solid looking robot, absolutely trash alt mode. 3: Omnigonix Spinout: I really wish this toy had been built better and painted fully but....yeah. 2: TFC Toys Tempest/Cyclonus: Early figure that while inexpensive just felt cheap right out of the box. 1: Fans Toys Seaspray 1.0: Wasn't built well and didn't look like the character in any meaningful way.
Pre-Paint is such a great term. There have been a few Hasbro pre-paints and it just kind of feels offensive. I saw Legacy Detritus at Walmart yesterday but we never got the Earth Mode Hound that was teased years ago, an now we're getting a pre-paint for it. There was also that Titan Returns Sentinel Prime that was obviously supposed to be Astro Train. I Try to avoid buying pre-paints but if it is a mold/figure I don't have, I get baited into buying them. With few exceptions like the seekers, I don't buy repaints or remold/retools (or whatever. Same basic figure with the same transformation scheme) and it sucks to feel the FOMO of what if I can't get the figure it's supposed to be, so should I get this obvious cash grab?
I just got that Ollie movie edition 2.0 whatever a few months ago and it indeed is a floppy mess. Can't believe I spent $80 on it but justified it because FT Mercenary was $80. There wasn't anything else I was missing and wanted free shipping. The worst figure in my collection.
I was late to the game for some 3rd party figures and at the time wasn't going to shell out $600 for the FT Insecticons, so I went MMC because of the sale DESPITE the bsf review...annd they broke right out of the box
The only one I don't really agree with is Whirl. I get it, it's not the MTMTE design, but it's based more so on Stormbringer, so it's still technically IDW. Regardless, it's still a decent figure. I'd definitely put Cyclonus higher. I'd probably throw the TFC Hound on the list, alongside certain other KFC/XTB releases. MAAS Toys belongs on the list as a whole, and probably Vectron Lab too.
My list: Worst 3rd Party company ever: Toyworld. COS ALL THEIR STUFF BREAKS! 2nd worst: X-Transbots. Only 75% of their stuff breaks. 3rd Worst: I'd tie TFC with Fansproject.
A lot of the ones other people criticise were the one for me - Spinout, Voodoo's Ironhide, etc... so I actually am quite happy with these. The only 3P products I've ever really been disappointed in were MMC - not just their Insecticons but also Omni and Cliffjumper. I don't really like XTB's Skids and really wish I'd known an MP was just around the corner (I got mine late in the day on the secondary market and the MP was revealed shortly afterward...) Fansproject could certainly be very frustrating - their Dinos don't really do the job (and they did the annoying FT thing of having a dull coloured mass release and a hard/expensive-to-get shiny one) but they are really cool; their Insecticons are perhaps even more frustrating with the G1-style weapon sculpts only coming in the repaint versions I'm not sure if 'flop' is the same thing as 'disappointment', though. For flops: MMC Insecticons didn't sell well as far as I can tell. Impossible Toys' poseable Bumblebee et al sold so poorly they went out-of-business. MAAS toys' Skiff (sorry - love the box art) could be had for very little money in the end. Spinout, as much as I like it, was clearanced from day 1 due to it's QC and seems to have killed Omnigonix (notwithstanding rumours they're still in the game under another name) Fansproject's Dinoking Pretender shells seem to have been in such short demand that making them may have been what did for them (in fairness, they probably killed their own finances by finishing the job for those that bought in to their product rather than calling it with the team unfinished which is very "by the fans; for the fans").
1. Omnigonix Sunstreaker - I Put it on eBay the same day it arrived in the post. 2. KFC Ditka - They rushed it out just to beat FansToys (They had 7 more years) 3. Lonewolf Motormaster - Literal flop 4. X-Transbots Apollyon - It broke taking it out of the box (Shouldn't have picked it up by the arms) 5. Cubex Huffer - Would've been a great figure if it wasn't for ALL the paint flaking off
But when those mmc bugs came out they did well because at the time ft wasn't doing reissues. You couldn't find a kickback for less than $350 so you had an incomplete set. That kickback was a place holder for probably a year or more.
Purple Potato for me. It's a nice ALT mode but man that Transformation is terrible and the bot is not that great. One of the flaps broke on me, I'll never transform it again.
Is it a mullet if an Asian wears it? You guys are awesome i enjoy listening to ya all whenever you post up together on nerd rage or here. Shout out Bobby, Joe and Chris 👊🏻
Moon studios trainbots. Everything was easy to break on them I combined them I was nightmare. Looked great standinding , but after touching in combined robot the guns fell off the joins got lose. , and radiation. Could not stand , kept falling over Sold it month after it started braking off parts
1) Toyworld TW-06 DEVILSTAR / EVILA STAR (Astrotrain) Never have I gotten mad at just looking at a transformer 2) Omnigonix Spinout (was dying for Bobby to get his hands on this) 3) DX9 D-03I Invisible (Mirage) clear plastic and impatience do not mix 4) TFC Detective (hound) Broken pieces of Detective in Bobby's robe pocket FTW! IYKYK 5) MMC Cynicus (Vos) I really like this one, but I'm on my 3rd one, having broken 2 already. My fault, but still...extremely delicate
I bought the badcube trailbreaker. Absolutly the worst figure I own. The leg just fell apart on first transformation. The bumper fell off immediately when I took it out of the box. I sent photos to the retailer and I got a refund and they didn't even want it back.
For me but since i don't have some of them, take it with a grain of salt: 5. Fans Toys warthog (powerglide): seen a review and ask a few questions and the transformation is to complicated for a sinple design 4. Bold form Gladius (Megatron): seen a review and its transformation looks like cancer 3. Devil savior Split (Mixmaster): really expensive and just seen reviews 2. Mft camera brothers: i own this one, the biggest issue i see it that they gave some weapons that were design to be hold with square pegs and the hands were circles and it has armor pads but its so hard to put them in. Finally got a refraktor but it kinda disappointed me and now he's displayed as a camera for the rest of his life. 1. Zeta toys Mini superion: to be clear once more, the mini one. Not the normal size one, the mini one. Way too overpriced for terrible engineering (literally the normal size version of the engineering and putting it into like palm size transformers) and crappy plastic that is way too brittle.
I'd probably add the Maketoys Coneheads to the list, simply because the last two were several years too late and the market has moved on. Shame really.
I love how bobby was so uninterested in the Fansproject Dinobots that he took the literal first image result from Google Images despite it being a TFW2005 post showing off some Planet X dinobots. LOL.

Agreed
That “Clever girl” comment got me good!
Fanstoys definitely prioritized wolf mode on lupus cause it’s pretty awesome
First dinobots pic is Planet X btw, a much better set 😁
Totally!
Love the show! Hoping to join the Patreon soon. How about Top 5 Most Disappointing Collecting Purchases?!
Honorable mention.. FT WARTHOG
If you can actually transform him, he looks great in alt mode, not so much in robot, as it's a mess in robot mode. Not a good sign when the thumbnail has two figures I was looking to grab soon for my chug collection😬
I picked up Kronos on a steep clearance back when one of the retailers took their stock and cobbled together unbroken ones … I have to say, on display and just standing there in a pose I still don’t hate him 🤣 🤣 but I only paid around $70 for him at the time
Bold Forms Motormaster is one of the biggest flops of all time, I can’t believe I wanted that thing
Have you guys done a Top 5 Most Daring Transformers Figures? All the best times a company took a chance at doing something new or wasn’t popular at the time. The figure itself doesn’t necessarily have to be the best quality.

I admit I have a few of the bots mentioned.. and I would add.. Garatron thunderstorm aka thunder wing
I’m surprised TFC toys Detective (Hound) didn’t make the list
Hey what's up with your opinions on that studio cell? That was a quick little mention... How did it change the third party market?
For worst I'd say either the Ollie or Covering Power master Optimus. Both were floppy messes.
I recently watched your Dream Star Silverbolt video and thought of this video. I can't help but wonder whether the recency bias may have been enough for it to make the list.
Studio cell Unicron is awesome by the way
Cubex's Huff. Such a flop that the entire company had to rebrand.
3:39 that laugh is everything. 😂
I bought the Lupus reissue and so far have had no issues with it.
I agree with all these, but to me the number one flop is still bad cubes insecticons
Pre-Paint is such a great term. There have been a few Hasbro pre-paints and it just kind of feels offensive. I saw Legacy Detritus at Walmart yesterday but we never got the Earth Mode Hound that was teased years ago, an now we're getting a pre-paint for it. I have to say FT Rouge, and Badcube Lorry
My current 3rd party flop is TFC's Terrorcons. Because the Hun-Grr is never coming out.
I hear ya on this one.
I really enjoyed the TFC Terrorcons. They were fun little bots, but if you can't complete the combiner than what is the point
I can confidently say we won't ever see the Ms bruticus on this list 😊
If it was top 5 botched releases, then Ms bruticus might top it . See swindle for a reference 😂😂😂😊😊
X-transbots dragstrip was 1 that disappointed me 1 arm broke off on me 1st transformation
Are you going to TFCon Orlando?
Negative.
Surprised one of them didn’t say Apollyon.
I agree with booby on #1 the mmc bugs are garbage my shrapnel leg broke in the box and none of them could stand by them selves
I thought the worst 3rd party combiner was the toy world dinobots
Can someone tell me which Devy is over his right shoulder in the top left of the screen?
i saw Kronos at NJCC and immediately cancled my preorder lol
How the F*$k did none of you mention Xovergen?!?!? One of the first 3rd parties and one to crash so very hard...
Boob raptor was a solid figure. I would have picked her up if I was still a man-child that buys toys like yall.
I was late to the game for some 3rd party figures and at the time wasn't going to shell out $600 for the FT Insecticons, so I went MMC because of the sale DESPITE the bsf review...annd they broke right out of the box
Maas B alt mode is great
Fun topic! Great picks! I gotta go TFC Protectobots. Nail in the coffin for TFC; for me.
BOLDFORMS MEG'S HAS ENTERED THE CHAT.
Is that the one that Jobby hated so much?
Why do you introduce your co hosts the names never change so. .. am I missing something
Vectron Lab doesn't actually exist, so they can't be counted in
Voodoo toys was worthwhile but the timing of the release was tough with the official mp coming out soon after.
Grimlock was cool
I think fans project has gone to work with hasbro
Really?
My list:
Worst 3rd Party company ever: Toyworld. COS ALL THEIR STUFF BREAKS!
2nd worst: X-Transbots. Only 75% of their stuff breaks.
3rd Worst: I'd tie TFC with Fansproject.
Ollie is still the best Wheelie, so.....a flop that somehow hit the landing?
Ollie is the _only_ Wheelie in that scale. Doesn't really count.
A lot of the ones other people criticise were the one for me - Spinout, Voodoo's Ironhide, etc... so I actually am quite happy with these.
The only 3P products I've ever really been disappointed in were MMC - not just their Insecticons but also Omni and Cliffjumper.

I'm not sure if 'flop' is the same thing as 'disappointment', though.
For flops:
MMC Insecticons didn't sell well as far as I can tell.
Impossible Toys' poseable Bumblebee et al sold so poorly they went out-of-business.
MAAS toys' Skiff (sorry - love the box art) could be had for very little money in the end.
Spinout, as much as I like it, was clearanced from day 1 due to it's QC and seems to have killed Omnigonix (notwithstanding rumours they're still in the game under another name)
Fansproject's Dinoking Pretender shells seem to have been in such short demand that making them may have been what did for them (in fairness, they probably killed their own finances by finishing the job for those that bought in to their product rather than calling it with the team unfinished which is very "by the fans; for the fans").
1. Omnigonix Sunstreaker - I Put it on eBay the same day it arrived in the post.
2. KFC Ditka - They rushed it out just to beat FansToys (They had 7 more years)
3. Lonewolf Motormaster - Literal flop
4. X-Transbots Apollyon - It broke taking it out of the box (Shouldn't have picked it up by the arms)
5. Cubex Huffer - Would've been a great figure if it wasn't for ALL the paint flaking off
I liked cubrar

All X transbots garbage 🗑️ should be on the list

Dx9 Astrotrain

That's not Xtransbots Warthog. That one is made by Fanstoys.
@@jameslane6311 right, i forgot
I was at charlotte at met Bobby too lol
I mean, Skiff's box art is aiiiiight...
JK - It's the only good part of it lol. Keep it up fellas.
I'd probably add the Maketoys Coneheads to the list, simply because the last two were several years too late and the market has moved on. Shame really.
First! (Nobody cares 😂)
I care❤️
You are here because you care.
Mmc cyclonus. From a mmc fanboy
