  • A great side effect that comes along with being apart of the vintage motorcycle community is the skills you learn in fixing the motorcycle along the way. Whether you like it or not if you own a vintage motorcycle sooner or later you will find yourself, wrench in hand, learning something. The passion for wrenching has become so prevalent in the past ten years that it is not just riding that is growing our community anymore but the wrenching as well. That is exactly how Albert found himself on the back of this beautiful CB450K5 he rebuilt. After hunting down his CB450 way up in Michigan, he ended up as one of the first shop members for CMC way back when it first began and learned to ride, wrench and weld just off of this bike. Tools and knowledge are more accessible than ever to keep your vintage Honda motorcycle running and it creates invaluable knowledge for your bike and yourself.

    thanks all for the kind words. Yes, I still need to swap the badges. I ended up needing to completely redo the tank's paint job and a nightmare liner stripping process inside and when I did the reassembly got them mixed up. Kind of like the "uber-soft-punk" idea though! Wish I could claim credit of thinking on that next level versus just making a simple mistake! Working on my K0 right now, so may be something you see in the near future!

    Great build! I had a stock Blue 68 CB 450 in 1971. Great bike! Did some fairly long rides on that bike in all kinds of weather, had a blast on it, and moved on to British bikes and building cafe racers from there. I never thought of building a cafe CB 450 till just a few years ago. Haven’t done it yet, 32 bikes later.....😉

    Beautiful build!! Nice job. I just did my combo rectifier/regulator upgrade as well the yellow wire mod and moved my ignition key and I’ve got a short somewhere that’s causing my whole bike to have intermittent electricity. I definitely felt that when you were talking about the fuses. I’m hoping when I open it up today I can solve it fairly quickly

    Brother I absolutely love your cb450! It is such a great-looking bike, everything about that bike looks perfect and of course the motor is just absolutely aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, you have done a hell of a job bud! enjoy her, be safe and stay healthy brother! And when you're done with your black bomber please make a video of it also, I would absolutely love to see that one too

    Agree this is a great build! Yes switch up the tank badges if it’s not too late. Love the space created by moving the battery and electronics. From a safety perspective I’m not crazy about the foot peg position and would wonder about options there. Also to my eye looks like the mirrors might not be giving you great rearward view? The tank is absolute vintage Honda p@rn!

    Nice finished ride, maybe change to some thinner oil in the front forks or a little less amount could work, could build some carb extensions, seems to give more low down power an looks a little nicer. Really nice work and thanks for the vid. ps make sure you run a good independent earth to the headlamp as you could track back through your steering head bearings.

    I really like what you have done and also like those vintage Hondas. In the early 80's I read an article about a serious Frankenbike built by a guy that wanted to mess with other riders. Take that same engine & transmission you have, shoe horn it into a 70's Vespa then for a little performance boost add a turbo. At a quick glance it still identified as a Vespa but would be funny as hell pulling away from a 550 in a light to light race. Leg room was at an extreme premium and the Vespa wasn't a very stable platform.

    • @Common-motor
      @Common-motor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That Vespa sounds like an AWESOME ride that I’d love to take a spin on.

    Do you guys have any consulting methods for anyone who is working on their own bike and needs specific help? I am currently working on my cb350F and have gotten it to the point where it will try to start but only one cylinder is actually firing at the moment. I am unsure why and need some guidance. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

    so where in heck did you pick up a clean K1 tank? And can anybody tell me where to find a replacement for my 12 liter K2 tank that is pretty rusty inside?

    Looks great. Are those bar end mirrors that you mounted where the stock mirrors would normally screw in? I'd like to know how you've got those mounted and what kind of mirrors they are...and if you can see behind you with those placed where they are.

    • @Common-motor
      @Common-motor  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Seeing behind you I’ve been told by Albert is a hit or miss haha. They’re normal bar end mirrors but instead of clamping to the bar ends he has them clamped to a large bolt threaded into the stock mirror location.

    Like you built a bike the way you want,Im sure you will make changes as you clock up the miles ,Is a pity you chose a 90% from the pic complete bike as these are becoming harder to find, from the changes you have made a basket case or incomplete bike would have been a better starting point .
