US, Norway, Sweden, Canada, Finland, Sweden, and Denmark all need to be working on a joint project to build a fleet of super breakers and arctic bases. Like now...
good luck and may the force be with you...
It doesn't matter, because global trade is going to collapse.
@@ask_sigma6He means more, there are already NATO bases up north. Its Russia that has pulled back in the Arctic , NATO has been and are investing more and more for every year
kinda nuts how Russia has sent the Best of their Arctic Forces to be butchered in Ukraine over the last 2 Winters and are now trying to fill the gap with Conscripts and Cold War Weapons.
Another nail in Putins coffin
Another nail ?? You mean another bucket of nails !!
Except that it's 100% nonsense.
24:30 He just summed up this whole video in seconds. Could not agree more.
The Soviet Union/Russia: the greatest NATO recruiter in history.
Russia might be, but USSR formed Warsaw Pact AFTER creation of NATO.
Thank you Times Radio, this is interesting. Russia’s specialist Arctic Troops and equipment have been destroyed in Ukraine. The fact they were even sent to Ukraine is a sign of desperation. What a waste of Russian and Ukrainian lives, on one man’s hubris.
Well said 👍
Imho, not just one man's hubris. He's a byproduct of his education - both teddy boy and tchekist. He's the current tenant, godfather of a mafia state, a pyramid which shall hold even if the top is clipped. The heirs may quibble a bit for succession, but nothing serious. And the foundations are strong, culturally rooted in the ideas of the East-to-West Empire, with an emperor and his devoted Church, and the call for constant expansion.
We have heard lots of ex military personels in the past it is nice to see that former intelegence commander of the Finnish miltary inteligence officer P Toveri is also heard. Since Finland has been the root to the western powers for past 80 years
Toveri is a reallh smart guy those who followed him. like me

👍🏻 well done and thanks for inviting Pekka T. he has a wast knowledge in the area.
With an economy that is ranked 11th in the world ( about the size of Italy ) and a population that is shrinking ( and its life expectancy declining ! ), how is it possible for Russia to accomplish its goals ?
The population isn't shrinking and our measures of the size of an economy seem to be pretty useless.
@@Withnail1969the population is exploding.
@@Withnail1969 Yes Recruiting a lot of 3rd world. Will be nice to see a mayor of Moscow of Somali descent in 20 years to represent the majority of the city's population and minarets built around the al Basil mosque in Red Square
@@DanW-nk7sn I'm not sure what you're babbling about. The ethnic mix of Russia is not something I agonise over. I'm simply stating that contrary to the misinformed poster's claim, Russia's population is not shrinking.
@@Withnail1969- in more tranquil times Putin mentioned Russia's demography as an ongoing problem, one that needed to be urgently addressed.
That said, I admit that the man has sometimes acted on bad information - so he may had had no idea of what he was talking about.
Trying to assert geopolitical/economic dominance over the arctic for resource exploitation is just another nail in the coffin of civilization. Our epitaph will be short and bitter -
THERE WAS MONEY TO BE MADE
Follow the pied pipers of money🏦💶💴💵💷💰
Sure, we destroyed the planet...but for a beautiful moment in time, we had fantastic returns for shareholders!
Resource exploitation has been the driving force of everything humans have ever done.
Labour government's only been in a few days and already they're tearing up all the planning laws. Sigh.
I've sat off Murmansk in an SSBN for weeks - they never dominated the arctic.
Putin our obedient dog 🇨🇳 💪
Thank you for this informative discussion. The western world needs to be more proactive in protecting its' interests in the far north. We have been too complacent and short sighted.
I love the Finns.
Where is Canada Artic defense?
Spelled defence, don’t worry the minister of defence in Canada can’t spell it either
@@grahamhufton7715In American English, it's spelled defense. There are many differences in spellings.
Canadian Forces Arctic Training Centre is in Resolute Bay, Nunavut, which provides a permanent location for training and operations in the High Arctic. The Canadian Army runs an annual Northern Exercise (NOREX) at CAFATC. In April Minister of National Defense Bill Blair presented an updated defense policy and an overall investment in the country's defense of $8.1 billion over five years and $73 billion over 20 years in the Arctic.

can't really take that away... there's not much without the distraction...
The future Han- Muscovite wars will be around water resources and the reclaiming of Outer Manchuria to settle the last standing unequal treaty.
China has ALREADY declared part of Mongol - Moscow empire as its territory on new official maps China's state-owned Standard Map Service has presented a set of geographic maps for 2023, on which for the first time part of Moscow's territory is indicated as part of China. Well, that's normal. 😝
Because there's nothing to say about Canada. And I say this as a Canadian.
Heartbreaking viewpoint, Stephane. If I can yet love the US, warts and all, you should be able to love Canada, your fellows and her history. We are not defined by the least of us, nor are we the cause of them.@@TheStephaneAdam
@@jamesjacocks6221 Like many Canadians, it's more a position of disapointment than disdain. I do love Canada but let's be honest, if there's a race for the Arctic we're just not there. Or any race of any kind really.
It's a nice country with great people... But we tend to settle for mediocrity way too often.
Russia has giant nuclear icebreakers and we don't. I'd say that gives them a pretty solid advantage in the Arctic.
Not at all. There is little ice left and the resources are below it and on the sea bed.
They also have nuclear subs which break thru 5 feet of solid ice when surfacing.
@@frankshailes3205 little ice left lol? what are you talking about?

There's indeed only one country between Finland and the USA, and Japan, but also between Finland and China, and North Korea.
Weaponised ice caps... Great. "mess with us and its water world"
In January 2022, several naval assets were transferred from the Northern Fleet (and from the other fleets as well) to the Black Sea Fleet and passed through the Bosphorus Strait just before the invasion in Ukraine was launched.
After the war started, personnel has been drained from Russian bases in the North-West to bolster the number of Russian troops in Ukraine.
During summer of 2023, the Russian forces on the Kola peninsula dropped below 20% of pre-war levels.
Comforting
You forgot Norway as a stakeholder in Antarctica. Also, it seems like some of you have the misconception that Finland has access to the arctic sea. It is locked in to the north by Norway and russia. So Finland won't be closer to Asia (by sea) than Spain is.
difference between arctic and antarctica depending on who

He doesn't have the North Pole to lose in the first place. ???
That music in the background was to annoying to watch the rest of video.
Sorry. Checked out early. Why the music???
No mention of Canada when it comes to the arctic. Silly oversight or telling commentary on Ottawa’s short sightedness
If the Gulf stream changes one way or the other, we may have rethink everything.
So many keyboard warriors but when real war comes they all run back to Paris or Berlin.😅
58000 Quadrillion someone rattled off in resources in the Arctic.
Whoops.
Also, Putin knows we (Sweden, Finland & Norway) will not attack Russia, So Russia dont need to have military power up at Finland.
America has been training in the northern regions with the Marine Corps and the army, where Russia has not
Also, Finland doesn’t even have Arctic coastline. Why are they talking solely with the finish general?!
Finland has second biggest icebreaker fleet in the world, and it's the world's foremost nation for design and construction of civilian icebreakers.
@@naomieyles210 How many does Finland have? Russia has 40 and Canada has 19 operated by the Canadian Coast Guard plus 2 that are operated by a Canadian private firm, Canada also needs them on the St Lawrence and on the North East coast of Canada. Hopefully more than 20.
Any naval ship travelling at the speed of an icebreaker is a sitting duck, with no scope for evasive manoeuvring. Canadas' Arctic has no ports, airstrips, roads or rail systems, and aids to navigation. So an invasion would be stuck there, if they could even raise an invasion armada.
The Alaskan city of Barrow sits close to Prudhoe Bay which is the single largest oil deposit in North America. Barrow does have a seaport(open seasonally) an airport that can handle commercial passenger/cargo aircraft and a road system that extends a few miles out of the city.
Its really the only inhabited North American potential target on thr Arctic Ocean. The only thing is the United States has large amounts of
military forces including Air Force fighters and a US Army Airborne/Arctic Division stationed in Alaska.
@@TheLAGopher From Alaska south it means taking the Alaska Highway through Canadian wilderness or the Pacific. Everyone avoids the open Pacific in preference for the Inside Passage in Canada, as that is a lee shore once known as The Graveyard of the Pacific.
The Inside Passage would mean a lot less manoeuvring space in a battle.
Arctic expansion
(A pipedream scenario)
There are a lot of obsolete vessels around the world.
This mothball fleet cost cheap. And its a burden to present owners and local government.
This fleet ought to be bought and brought first to Alaska, Bering straight, then to Norway waters.
There it ought to be sank gradually, piled unless it's an obstacle to modern deep drought ships/vessels. Firstly in Alaska, so it prevents any significant Chinese ship crossing Bering straight.
Next is Norway. The sunken ships damb, ought to be long enough to block northern fleet outgoing. Thus, two perspective goals are reached. No Chinese in Arctica, limits to northern fleet as well. Arctic future conflict is localised and downsized.
There are further benefits. Russian and Chinese intelligence will find out soon, and will try to prevent it, rising prices and buying themselves, which will drain their own resources. Russia might be so desperate, that present regime will decide to go all out nuclear in this event, which will enable retaliative blow, that will end any further ambitions forever.
Woa dude the US millitary installations in Alaska are not in a state of disrepair. Fort Greeley is there so is Fort wainwright so is Ellison Air Force base. The Clear Space force command is there and the Alaska National guard has 3 bases there as well. We also have early warning radar stations there we have ballistic missile interceptors there. The big ones that destroy them in space. Plus on Canadian territory in the arctic circle we have had a radar tracking station and early warning radar stations up there since the 1950’s. I don’t know where you got your info but it’s incorrect. Alaska is where the Arctic warfare training center is at. There is also a Special Forces group at Fort Greeley. Green Berets.
I think he could be referring to the US Navy abandoning Adak Island in the Aleutian Islands back in 1997. The US Marines returned there in 2019
for joint exercises with the US Navy and Coast Guard, and as late as 2021, the Navy Secretary was thinking about reopening that base or at least finding other ways to increase the Navy/Marine Corps presence in the Arctic.
We are still watching the Russians and Chinese like hawks. We never stopped watching them. And our best geostationary satralite that detect ballistic missile launched among other things they do other things too but even if China or Russia blew up one of our sattalites these geostationary satalites are like 68,000 miles out in space. They aren’t in low earth orbit or even standard earth orbit which is about 1000 miles.
