Buyer Beware! Segway Navimow Robot Lawn Mower REVIEW

- This is my honest review of the Segway Navimow robot lawn mower. It's perimeter wire-free with virtual boundaries, anti-theft alert, corn-row mowing lines, but unfortunately littered with software issues! Let me show you my pros and cons.

Thanks for the insightful video. I'm one of the indiegogo backers and was quoted shipping in June! It's August 23 and Segway keeps pushing back the delivery date with excuse after excuse, and the stories keep changing. A lot of backers are getting very angry. Reaching support has been a genuine nightmare and they ignored backer comments and questions for weeks (once they got the money). Latest chat support has said is they have the units in the US warehouse (but still not shipping ??). Funny is that the indiegogo page announced they were at the shipyard this morning, so who knows the truth. Also worried as these have been available in Europe for a year and that FB group is full of horror stories. Wondering if I should just get the EF Ecoflow instead. Costs more but it has a better warranty.
Thank you for this! I guess I will rather get the Goat :D :D
@@DanielJLopeswhat did u settle for and are you content? struggling between these two as well right now
those blades are so tiny, it looks like a joke!
Love the robot lawn mower reviews, especially those satisfying time lapses! I appreciate the honesty as well!
2:40 Zones have been added since then
The latest version even added the ability to select mowing directions for each zone. Pretty useful when your lawn isn't fully horizontal.
I think an RTK robotic lawnmower's antenna shouldn't be placed under a tall wall, yet in the video, I consistently see the antenna placed under the wall every time Navimow encounters an issue. I'm not sure if the author lacks a deep understanding of this product category, leading to these erroneous operations. Maybe try to relocate the antenna to a more ideal place?
The installation guide says that 2m (6.5 ft) from walls is the minimum.
Most of the issues you're having are inherent to RTK and poor signal reception.
When the base station loses a satellite fix, the mower/rover location is only as good as basic GNSS (about +/-6 feet). This can happen a few times an hour depending on where you place the base station. Without the base station sending GPS corrections, the mower's GPS is less accurate so it will 'act funny'. If it's only a few seconds, you will not notice anything. After longer periods, it might mow in a zig-zag pattern like it had a boundary wire setup. The mower might use the last RTK correction from the base station and have an 'offset' until it times-out. Keep in mind that the base station's job is to tell the mower how much to add/subtract the MOWER's own GPS coordinates. This update happens a few times each minute and requires the base station receive enough coordinates from enough satellites and send that data to the mower and the mower to receive enough signals from it's satellites.
The mower itself can lose it's own GPS fix as well. In this case, it will also 'act funny'. It will mow for a few seconds while retrying. If after a few seconds, it still doesn't have a satellite fix, it will typically stop and error, but might default to just using compass and proximity sensors for a minute or two if the last location was far enough away from the boundary.
The 'better' RTK systems tell you the WORST CASE signal after a long integration period. This forces people to place them in very good locations.
hi, is there a way to check for RTK or satellite strength before buying the machine? does it need to be brand specific? I am planning to order one from Amazon and bring it to my parent house in Thailand. (looking for the newer version i105N. If there is anything that I can check before hand, that would be awesome.
Thanks in advance.
I have my Navimow robot lawn mower for 2 years cutting 26k sqft a week with a front and back lawn, and I have to disagree with this review and it should be redone. My guess is the demo machine he got was messed up as this bares no reflection to my experience.
Got to question the install. Have just bought and installed and it is absolutely perfect even with our complicated garden.
I also think so!
The dude hasn't figured out the importance of having the stationary gps unit in a good place.
I have mine on a cabin roof. Works really good.
Must be absolutely stationary, if the reference GPS antennae is moving even a cm this could be amplified through the system and cause problems
And against a wall with an overhang 😮 has no understanding of how this system operates
You have GPS connection issue between robot and antena. I had similar issues, just put GPS antena in direct view with mover and he will work perfectly.
The antenna doesn't need to be in direct view as it's RF, but it does need to get a good GPS reception. When there are connection issues between the two, an error is shown.

Dang!. Thanks for this review. Most honest review i've seen.
... And Segway said this behaviour was normal when you contacted them about this problem? It seems strange to me. This robot has been on the market in Europe for quite some time with nothing but good reviews and alot of happy customers. Unless there is a big technical difference in the EU vs US version, and the US version is severely faulty, this review seems more sensational than anything else.
Great review! Felt super honest and informative. 😊 Keep doing your thing!
Had a Navimow for 1 summer now, NO issues at all
Which model?
There is definitely something defective about your model, or the rtk is just not seeing enough satellites. I have tested both old and new versions of the Navimow and have never experienced it bouncing around, or going outside the boundaries. They work to the same accuracy and reliability as the Luba does.
Banging its head against the wall over and over is sadly not a RTK issue.
@@AuthenTech continual bumping into something is because the robot thinks it needs to travel this path to get to where it wants to mow. Sadly every rtk robot mower I have tested will do the same thing if you interrupt the path of the robot trying to pass through a narrow passage. Parallel signal paths and poor rtk position could cause this to occur, but I still think your robot is faulty. You should get it replaced by Segway and try your review again with a robot that is working properly.
I'm really enjoying my Luba so far. It's great to see this space take off because ultimately competition is going to benefit us, both in pricing and pace of innovation! Very interested to keep watching this space. Thank you. Subbing now!
Hello. I am from Slovenia and the mower works very well. You can walk with her for a while and find the right path. You have very easy terrain against my hill.
Greetings
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 🙏 This one’s a bit out of my price range, so I might wait before pulling the trigger.
Great genuine, honest review! Very AuthenTech 👍🏻
Thanks for the review! I’m definitely on the lookout for a more budget-friendly robot mower.
Great review. Did you have any areas with tall trees/hedge when setting up? I’m interested to know if there are any issues with loss of GPS during setup. Thanks
Can you cut the grass by using ur phone to guide/control/steer it. Or is it fully automated.
"this is the needle that broke the camel's back". Ok George W. Bush 🤣🤣🤣
Bro's got that perfect lawn for reviewing these things.
You also have a Luba seen in 4:56. What do you think of it compared to the Navimow?
Solid review! Do you have any recommendations for smart mowers that won’t break the bank? I’m looking for something more affordable.
This is the type of review the people need! It’s great to see the feature but it’s best to see real world functionality and issues. Thank you for this because I was super close to buying this model.
But it’s his real world. My experience is totally different. I have none of those issues.
@@PabloJGarcia-ef1uh really? I’m in the market but due to cost I’m being probably too picky tbh. I appreciate your feedback though.
@@MrBombbostic Yes, the app is not polished as I would like, but my Navimow is great. You just have to make sure that you place the gps antenna away from the house and away from trees. It took me a few try’s. Once I was set up, it was just a matter of getting acclimated to the mower. I have 1500m2 and My mower has been great. Customer service is somewhere Overseas from the USA (I believe) like most companies, but if I send an email, I get a personal responses within 24 hours. I’m in no rush so I don’t need an answer immediately., just as long as I get one.
@@PabloJGarcia-ef1uh thank you!
Video is a year or more old and you commented two months ago; product (and especially the app) is more mature now. I have an i105E and have none of these issues. In particular, you can set up multiple zones in the app and cut them independently or all together.
Plus, as others have pointed out, his GNSS antenna placement seems poor.
Very strange. My H3000 doesn't have that kind of problems. Looks the s/w you used is outdated. I do have issues with vision fence, that cause some erratic movement. But those are easily resolved. So, this review is not consistent with my experience at all, and my lawn is much much more complex. Maybe your machine is deffective., or you are using an early beta version. Also, have you upgraded the vision fence firmware?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this cool lawnmower 😊
Thanks for watching
The very first thing it tells you is NOT to put it next to the house
They need to stick to scooters by the looks of it. I also think like you said it needs more sensors and possibly Lidar. Maybe they were taking a page out of Tesla's book by removing sensors. Good honest review bro.
I fully agree that LIDAR would be huge. Live updating of map edges, better/tighter obstacle avoidance, etc
I’m so ready to ditch my old push mower, and smart mowers seem to be everywhere! 👀 I saw one called ANTHBOT for $599 with auto mapping-would be awesome if you could review it!
These machines are by no means perfect, but my Husq 450X is magnificent. I love it and it can't handle ditches, so I get a workout once a week 1/2 doing ditches with my Worx pusher. But I gotta say, the installation was real work. But worth it. Saying, "Alexa, mow the lawn" and it just happens, is surreal.
Really loved how detailed this review is! Thanks for breaking it all down!
Thanks for the honest review - saved me headaches and money.
Gotta stay authentech ;)
The title of vid says it all, it's clickbait nonsense, correctly installing the base station antennae with full view of sky and preferentially the same satellites the robot will likely see is how it's done. This is inherent to any rtk system including Lubas they all operate the same. If this is no good go perimeter wire.
I cant start my new i105 and it gives me error 3107 wheel motor. Do you have any experience how to fix it?
I just got mine today and cant's get a good gps signal without setting up the antenna way out in the middle of my front yard...I thought setup would be simple and I'm ready to send mine back and get one with wires to install...not a fan of the setup
Solid review! Gotta admit, though, it’s a bit out of my price range right now. 😅
Sorry, but your review isn't good.
1) I'm quite sure that you have done a lot of things with the settings and never rebooted the mover - like you always do with your computer after making changes.
2) If you had taken the time to make 'off limit' zones you would have had a perfect results.
3) Have you talked to Segway about your issues - They would have given you the support to make the mower work perfectly.
I've had my H3000E for more than a year now, and all issues have been solved. I've experienced good support, and a mower that's being updated with new features and minor corrections.
The only issue I have is with the tires - the grip should have been better.
Any info about SW updates dealing with problems?
Wow that reminds me a lot about Luba... except my Luba works really well
I'd be afraid to find it run over in the street, not for that price and those bugs
How is the compared to Mammotion Luba?
Great and honest review
Great review! 👏
There could be a bug on yours, the ones I've talked to in the last few weeks who have one don't say it's perfect, there's still some "beta" software in it, but they don't do the trick of driving back and forth same place.
Oh there's definitely some bugs. 🤣 Hopefully they squash them soon
😂😂😂😂😂. He found it in the neighbors yard..LMAO
They have a newer version that premiered at the CES the Segway Navimow i robotic lawnmower. Maybe the bugs are out of the newer model?
I'm thinking about buying one.

Can’t wait to get mine 😂 Did you share your experience with Segway? Our mowers are supposed to be here this month!
Update?
@@dascubaguy
I received mine but the mowing season is about done so I’m gonna keep it in the box until next year, they said when you activate them the warranty starts so I’ll leave it in the box. There is a new video out on TH-cam on the Navimow looks pretty good!
Seems cool, but it seems like it needs another version
Whats up with all the beta hand swooshing? But i wouldn't get one regardless
My advice is, as a standard part of your reviews and consumer experience, to engage with support (not the people who sent the unit to you) to try to resolve the issues. Doing and including this would have demonstrated their support to your viewers and potentially given you a better experience with the mower.
I’ve had zero issues, all I can say is that antenna placement is beyond important
I indeed also think that the correction of the antenna position is important for good control. Of course, the mower must also have good coverage. But it can be done with one less satellite for a short time.
Then I don't often read an independent practical test about Kress on this medium (YT). Then you don't need an RTK correction antenna yourself. It is at the dealer.
Yep, this thing isn't ready for prime time. Thanks for the review, Ben!
$2000? Wow! You would expect the mower to work properly for that kind of money!
Haha I agree
Clear explanation, great video. Thanks a lot👍👍👍
Lol I like how he whispers while he's talking about how stupid it's acting.
Oh wow! That's too bad I was hoping for another good no boundary wire option. The EcoFlow blade sucks, now the Segway navimow sucks as well, The Husqvarna EPOS is way too expensive. I guess we just got to depend on Luba for now.
Have you tried the EcoFlow Blade? I thought it looked decent from other reviewers.. (mostly sponsored of course ;-)
@@AuthenTech Yes, it's a unfortunate disaster as well. It's like 80% of the way there but that 20% is really screwed up. Here's my ideas for blade V2 and then It would be competitive. Of course software issues number one, but there's a few hardware problems that's going to have to change. They need to copy Luba's Omni Wheels and not do The angled thing, and they need to be powered so blade will be 4x4. The charge port is poorly designed, They need to come up with something better. lots of unsuccessful dockings and charges. But if they can do those three things (software, charge port, front wheels) I could give it a thumbs up.
@@CrazypostmanI've got the Navimow. Definitely got issues but I've not seen any of the ones mentioned on this video.
Segway needs to launch it's completely updated software, which it showed off months ago on YT.
@@nssimpson from what I can see having not had much time personally with the Segway Navimow, most of it's problems seem to be software related so hopefully they can get everything updated and working to the level it should.
@@nssimpsonhave you idea If old models will get it or is segway make new 2024 model
Thanks, you saved me a few thousand Euros!
Why are there no walls or fences around your property?
Now that Segway's AI has caused damage to your neighbour's property, who will pay for the damage?
Returned Apparently my property is not large enough to satisfy the GPS antenna moved everywhere
a good spot the middle of the street that’s not happening. Now waiting for our refund from Amazon usually within a day or two still no refund Jeff must need the money more then we do
THIS GUY DID NOT INSTALL THE LAWN MOWER CORRECTLY
Put this down to how well you set it up at the start. Who paid you to say such dishonest nonsense.
Maybe you should talk nice to him, a little bit of encouragement goes a long way.
😆
Is it just me or it looks like a lot of hardware has been borrowed from Worx?
It sure looks similar to many of those others out there. Unfortunately I haven't tested a Worx yet
I disagree works like a charm
that random bouncing is actually good, straight lines look aweful in the garden...
Good intel Ben.
thank you... love the video....
thanks for the great vid and saving me over a grand
Thank you
I actually refuse costemers work if they mow with a robot😂
Out of date video is out of date...
i think the chinese took over the bot and were having a laugh
