  • Don't underestimate the Capabilities of the DR650 ! old tech but tried tested and true ! This Bush Pig has shown me us over and over again that its truly can be a fantastic trail bike, with very little to go wrong and simply old tech ground to rider feedback, its a great way to improve riding skills, shows that one does not need all the fancy gadgets to make it through no matter what, the Bush Pig will take you there ! LOL

    No one who only rides medium-tight trails would purposely choose a 100 lb heavier bike. However almost all of the 50 lbs. lighter 200-300cc class dual sport bikes will readily out-handle the "heavy" DR650 on this trail and all trails tighter than this one. But most of us will eventually tire of the same local trails and want to venture out to new territory. If we only travel 15-20 miles one way on the highway to get to the new trail the DR650 (or even the DR200) works just fine. But when the more adventurous types want to ride to and explore distant trails, they will quickly tire on the best dual-sport thumper after a few 40-70 mile trips (one way) on interstate or state highways with 65-75MPH limits, and forget trips of 75+ miles (one way). According to dozens of owner testimonials, the T7 is one of the lightest ADV bikes that is fully highway capable with handling, power, brakes, comfort and fun that is almost on par with the best sport touring bikes, and its a ton of fun off-road. Few would ever claim that riding a DR650 a real long way on a fast highway is "fun", rather it's more like a chore that has to be finished before the off-road fun begins. I now own or have once owned several of these bikes at the same time: DR200SE, KLX250S, DR650SE, Tiger 800XC and R1200GS. Why? To paraphrase Dirty Harry - a man's got to know his {bike's} limitations.

    How would you compare the DR650 to the T7 in the woods? does the T7 like tight trails? i'm considering picking one up. but I love my DR

    • @itsadyerthing
      @itsadyerthing  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      That is a very good question! Since I posted this video and linked it to the suzuki DR650 owners forum on Facebook facebook.com/groups/1890396251182193/?ref=share
      There has been a lot of chat in between the two machines. They both have great features. But to answer your exact question. If I had an event which mostly involved tight trail or wooded trails and I was given the option to use either the DR65 or T7 I would choose the DR simply cause it's so agile and yet smooth power to ground. Don't get me wrong I love my T7 but she does drain me case she's still 100lbs heavier. When we do rolling starts or stop starts drags etc that DR just pulls like a racing tractor on steroids haha ! Even street runs the DR holds its own compared to the big boys. Maybe not as super comfy as T7 and you know it's single cylinder from its thumping vibes but it's a awesome bike. So yeah!!! You have to keep both hahahaha the DR pricing is so low and maintenance is so easy it's silly to let it go!!!!
      Yeah clear as mud eh sorry to make it harder to choose but DR is a strong lifestyle of bikers!

      The DR650 is so agile, for trails its a beast ! the power to handling ratio is awesome ! its truly over looked but what a fantastic bike ! dont get me wrong, i love my Tenere 700 but yes on some trails she can be a big big to toss around and you become fatigue much quicker ! .
