Is it a medley of songs? I remember this was often the case in Brits performances of the past. Whichever way it is we will add it to the list. I saw she has a Tiny Desk concert as well. Generally love seeing artists perform in such a small space, brings some great creativity.

Love this video, appreciate the more in-depth commentary. You should also check out the Brit awards and SNL performances, she was amazing!

I'mwith Seddon. Raye is a thrilling talent, and while she may have pinched herself as she bounced out onto the stage and saw the space filled with thousands of people, there was no trace of nerves once she said 'let's go'. Nor was she dwarfed by the venue, but instead she filled it with her voice, her personality and her symphonically arranged music. There is a warmth to her voice when she does her singing spea king thing that blooms into opulence when she begins to lay into her riffs and runs, announcing in unmistakable style that this woman has soooouuul. For days. I hear your Aretha, andI raise you Etta James, or Dinah Washington, or Sarah Vaughan, one of those women from the age when men dressed like Bogey, the cool cats hung out in Jazz clubs, and all the bands were big bands. Raye has all those influences baked in, there's something classic about her, 'classic like Elizabeth Taylor' to borrow a lyric from Raye herself, and it feels so good ... But then she speaks her London argot, or she does a bit of rapping, or she drops a drop and takes us clubbing, and she is totally 'now', and a little bit gangster. And this feels very fresh and exciting¿as well as completely authentic. She has paid her dues, and then some - the back story is jaw dropping - so boy is she enjoying her arrival, just as we get to cntury enjoy her. I don't give a rotting fig that the other fella didn't care for the song - what's he talking about, the song is the performance, and a it's a brilliant opener to the show, and to her album. Each to their own, chaq'un a son gout, blah blah, but I suspect he needs a firm slap to dislodge some internal obstruction that's preventing him from being alive or something. Raye is fantastic, Raye is on fire, Raye is the real deal; and now she's finally got here, I don't think she will be leaving again anytime soon. The most exciting debut in years, even if it was years coming, woop woop, we is jus mighty pleased to see you, Miss Raye, and full of humble gratitude that after your perilous journey, providence has delivered you to us safe an sound. And we are all of us, every man, woman and them; why, even loosely tied Lacey here, we are very excited to hear your marvellous twenty-first century blues.

Absolutely with you. We started doing the reactions a long time ago and one of the reasons was over the years I had really stumbled in finding music I loved. The sort of performers that have that extra spark that makes you go wow. That untouchable quality that lets you know you are experiencing something/someone who is really special. It is artists like Raye coming along that make this worthwhile. I can't wait for more.

I love the song itself, but I can kind of see why the guy on the right isn’t fond of it. It’s epic, but it’s not the most melodious tune in the world. But still, it works for me and the big arrangement gives it life as well as her voice.

I think it is the subject matter she goes into lyrically along with that fluctuation between the big voice moments and the more accent driven conversational sections that really got me. If you have any other artists you think we should try then chuck them our way. We are always looking to add artists to our playlists.
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Really appreciated having people join us on our musical journey.
