Thank you for this reaction. I'm a fully paid up member of the RENegades, and feel so happy with all the incredible independent music coming out of this little island. Raye is a diamond……watch her grow. Love and peace

Thanks for reacting to this Ashley hope you enjoyed it. Raye is now an independent artist after falling out with her record company. Last year she won the most awards at The Brit awards. She doesnt just sing but can rap do opera everything if you watch her Medley at The Brits next you will get a feel of what she can do x.

Hi! I love seeing Caribbean people getting into their reactor bag. I don't live there right now but I was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago so I love to see us win lol Anyways, Raye! Let's tap into her. Raye has been in the industry for a LONG time! She is a songwriter and has written songs for Beyonce, Rihanna, David Guetta, John Legend and Ellie Goulding. She wrote the song you are reacting to in this video "Oscar Winning Tears" as well as every other song on her debut album "My 21st Century Blues"
For a really long time Raye was trapped in a predatory contract with the UK label Polydor, who would not let her release her debut album because they claimed that it wouldn't chart and the only music she made that would chart was electronic dance music, so that's all they really ever let her release. Raye finally got away from them in 2021 and released "My 21st Century Blues" to the world last year, 2023. This album won her a record breaking SIX (6) BRIT Awards. The most anyone has ever won at the BRIT Awards and she was actually nominated for 7 awards (also a record for one single artist).
I highly recommend listening to "My 21st Century Blues" it is an incredible listening experience and as the name suggests it encompasses so many genres. It is RnB, Jazz, Blues, Pop and Dance inspired and while you may not think those things go together, she always makes it work! There is also a live version of the album that can NOT be missed! The live album is taken from the exact performance you reacted to here. She performed the entire album at the Royal Albert Hall but the full performance it is not currently available to view anywhere, the album is available on Spotify and Apple Music though and her live vocals bring the music to life even more than on the studio version of the album (but again you should listen to both because they're both masterpieces in their own right). Performing at the Royal Albert Hall was a BIG deal for Raye because that's one of, if not THEE most famous concert halls in Britain so you can tell how honored she was and how much it meant to her to be able to perform there after so many years of fighting to be heard.
If you'd like some other live videos to react to, her BRIT Awards performance is phenomenal and also she has two performances from Saturday Night Live recently that are both fantastic as well. Oh, and her recent music video Genesis is a must :D
Fun Fact: Raye almost always performs without shoes on! She says it makes her feel more grounded and connected while she's performing.
2nd Fun Fact: While Raye mixes genres in her music she also mixes vocal styles as she sings. I have watched upwards of ten vocal coaches analyze her vocals and they all have talked about how she effortlessly switches from RnB vocal techniques to Jazz vocal techniques and sometimes even a little classical vocal styling comes in while she's performing as well. She's truly a VOCALIST.

Hey Ashley, great reaction, thanks, and thanks to Mark for suggesting RAYE. More please! I'm already a sub because of AJ and Diana and others, but if I weren't I'd sub for RAYE. In case you're interested (for private watching, not a reaction...) here's what she has to say about those Amy comparisons (you're not the first and you won't be the last). She's such a sweet and humble person!

For your next reaction to her (asap, please! I'm addicted to her...) I'd suggest either her new release "Genesis" (MV) or another great live performance, her medley at the Brit Awards... (Ice Cream Man, Prada, Escapism)...
    Peace and love from Bavaria!
