If you scan that, it takes you to a site where you can download and 3D print accessories for the truck, some of which attach to that "clip" he mentioned in the rear. I think that's such a cool feature, haven't seen any other manufacturer encouraging customers to 3D print custom accessories for their cars
This is exactly the type of design that made cheap Japanese cars so good in the 90s. Quirky and cheery designs, that aren’t overly goofy. These synthetic materials tend to hold up extremely well.
I think Doug touched on this in the first Maverick video. For the economy value shopper that would have bought a sedan a few years ago, this is going to be what they buy. It's cheaper than any other crossover on the market. And comparably priced with an awful lot of Korean sedans.At this price you can have a Kia K9 or you can have a Ford truck. After delivery and sales tax what else can you buy under $25,000? Ford's already sold out of these through July 2022.
This is what I’ve been waiting on, a cheap small truck that gets good gas mileage. I’m rural, have a small farm, and commute 55 miles to work. I believe Ford knocked this one out of the park.

Ford crammed tons of value into this small package. Doug didn't have enough time to detail all the smart features, like: - Those tailgate bottle openers are also handy tie-down points - When in the mid-position, the tailgate is level with the top of the wheel wells, so you can carry 4x8 sheet goods - The bed is full of slots for 2x4s and 2x6s. There's a 2x4 slot just in front of the wheel wells that's positioned perfectly for holding bike forks, and you can store the wheels between the 2x4 and the front of the bed. - That slot in the rear cup holder is part of FITS (Ford Integrated Tether System), which includes both a family of storage accessories, and the CAD files so you can design and print your own. - Lastly, folding down the rear seat back exposes anchors for child seat tethers. These are much better positioned than those on the F-150, which are too close to the child seats to work well (you have to route the tethers horizontally to other anchors). Too many cool features to list. If the quality is high I think Ford has a hit on their hands that appeals to both young buyers looking for adventure and older buyers looking for practicality.
He also missed the AC outlets with 400 watts of power available in the hybrid model. That seems like the biggest feature of this model and it wasn't mentioned.
@@JamesD-HB "2 DC to AC inverters" - Both of those 400 watt 120V AC outlets draw off of a single 400 watt continuous inverter. If you try to draw 400 watts x2 continuous, you will blow the truck's inverter circuit fuse.
I finally got my 22 maverick lariat hybrid. 1 year later this truck is amazing. I’m able to get up to 600 miles per tank using the electric mode at low rpm’s. That is about 44 mpg, which is insane for a pickup truck
In my view, the hybrid version deserves the highest "value" score available, because it has moved the bar entirely. Simply put, when it comes to new cars - and I'm including Ford's destination fee in this - there is no other $21,490 hybrid, there is no other $21,490 truck, and IIRC, there isn't even a tiny car of any type that gets 42 mpg city for $21,490. To think you can get a hybrid truck that can haul upwards of 18 sheets of plywood, fit four, and get an amazing 42 mpg city for so little money in this day and age of overpriced vehicles is market-altering stuff.
To be fair it's hard to swallow the lack of cruise and steelies and lack of power tailgate (you can option in power mirrors via Copilot 360). I ended up speccing out a lean XLT....

I'm so ready for this. Never thought I'd ever get to buy a new vehicle, but damn, a small affordable utilitarian vehicle with zero BS is my absolute dream.
Can't wait to get one of these. So glad this segment is coming back. This will sell well because everyone doesn't want a 60 thousand dollar ten foot tall tank that can pull a freight train with 9mpg for everyday driving.
@@joelscb ya it’s a real pain trying to actually find one. Especially since dealerships don’t take down the ones they had from their website in a timely manner. I thought I’d have to settle for a Ranger(drove like shit compared to the Maverick, and the interior is shit and boring.) Drove to a dealership and there was a Maverick Lariat out front. Like I’ve been told countless times before, I assumed it was a Demo mode. Nope. I almost didn’t believe it when they said it was for sale and they just got it the day before. I wasted no time😂

One market segment is the newly retired guy’s who are watching how much money they’re spending, will like having an affordable “truck”. Small business that need a low cost delivery vehicle, and young independent tradesmen/women will tap this market. Thanks Ford for listening to the people.
as a young trades man I've been wanting a V4 and all the market had to offer were clapped out Toyotas or Nissans. a Maverick is definitely the truck i want by summer
I can also see the Orkin man rolling up in a Maverick in the near future. A pickup that costs under $25K and gets 40-ish mpg is going to be a fleet favorite.
I would LOVE to have these at my AZ store! We've had a number of issues with our '19, '20, and '21 Colorados ranging from trans issues (loss of 1st and spotty 2nd gear) to security system issues ("Service passlock" no-starts) and even failed weather stripping at 6mo/14k miles. Fuel milage in the low 20s jumping to 40mpg would be fantastic for us as well!
I worked at NAPA as a driver, our fleet was mainly Chevy. I drove a '17 Colorado, alongside that was another Colorado, 2 Sonic's, a City Express, and a Silverado. Other stores were like this too, very few had Ford Transit Connects.

Value also takes into account how well it will hold its' value. Since they will be mass produced and relatively cheap, Doug is guessing (or knows) that people would just rather buy a new one than get one 2nd hand. So the value score drops due to not holding monetary value over time - 7 is a great score for a vehicle like this.
Perfect for an average Dad like me. A small (affordable) truck that can haul around all my yard waste from mowing and trimming trees, transport outdoor play equipment for my kids, furniture, and all the materials I need to upgrade my fixer-upper home. All with enough seating for my wife and kids to tag along for some fun (productive) family time!
I'm a guy who believes that most people buying a pick-up simply need a small pick-up such as this, not some large truck. If this truck is cheaper to maintain and drive, I hope it's a success.

Except there have already been midsize trucks on the market for years, yet half tons still sell in higher volumes. I don’t believe people but pick ups because they need it. They buy it because they want something oversized so they can sleep better at night.
Have had my lariat hybrid a week. Averaged 29mpg the first tank, averaging 36mpg on the second tank. And that included towing in the first tank. My 11 mile trip home today was 46mpg. 4 of those 11 miles were all electric. I'm quite happy with it.
@biblereader the power meter and how charged the battery is dictates when it switches. Mostly I can get it up to 17-20mph before it switches as long as you're staying under 20% power. If you punch it it will switch almost immediately. But once you're moving it's easy to get it back into electric even at higher speeds. And breaking regeneration produces a ton of electricity and you rarely use the real brakes until the very end of the stop unless you really need to stop quick. Many of my short drives are half or more electric in town. Like 9mi total, 6 of them electric. 54-58mpg on those trips. Climate control (primarily heat because it's only from the engine heat) requires the engine more often. So don't warm up. Just go and get heat once it's running the engine and the coolant temp rises a notch or two from cold.
Would you call the elcamino a truck... something with a 4ft bed isn't a truck... how the hell could you ever get work done with this. Just like the tonneau cover. Always sissy truck owners with those. Probably using it to haul groceries
@@kylegroth3199 A lot of people buy big ol expensive tough trucks and use the bed maybe once in a blue moon to help someone move or buy a grill...other than that it's a grocery getter. Many truck owners needs and usage would fit the Maverick from my point of view. Small cargo, short distances, unchallenging terrain, and minimal usage of bed and towing. A lot of people aren't actually doing any real work with their truck; trucks are like the most popular vehicle in America, they aren't all being used to their potential. So many people could get by with a "sissy truck" and pay less.

These are the trucks we need BACK. We need these perfectly sized mid-sized trucks. We also need manual transmissions back too! They make perfect work trucks. I miss the Dakotas, S10s, Rangers etc. I had an S10 and I put almost 300k on that thing. It never quit and it was a manual. I can’t wrap my head around paying 50-100k for a truck. I actually use my truck and it’s a TOOL for me.

Doesn't have to be that way. Order it online from Ford, get called into the dealership of your choice to verify the order, then sign the purchase agreement and make sure the dealer does too. If you do this, they have to honor the Ford online price.

I really like the approach ford had with this truck; I am not a truck person but I can see the appeal of having something that is not a monstrosity in terms of dimensions that is practical, usable and affordable. No nonsense features, just practical and utilitarian.
If Ford can get this out without the issues they had with the explorer/aviator then they are going to have a huge hit on their hands. I can see all the little companies like orkin driving these.
What issues did they have with the Explorer? I see a bunch of them, Ford dealers are full of them all the way from cheap $26k base to 60k platinum AWD models.

I had to rent a car a few weeks ago and they upgraded me to an AWD platinum explorer with the Ecoboost V6 and I was pretty impressed by the power and technology. I hated the transmission though. The first few speeds are really clunky at slow speeds
What issues did the explorer ever have? 98% of explorers are still on the road that were made made after 2000. Whoever says fords aren’t reliable, they dumb asf.
I'm glad they brought back affordable simple trucks. The best sellers isn't necessarily the big suvs or trucks to hair air around. Most ppl want affordability and simplicity. Good review!
I can see this being absolutely massive in fleet sales. All those construction and similar companies that need lots of vehicles that can visit remote or dirty sites but not cost a ton. The $20k one does everything such companies need. And it will cost them a decent chunk less based on volume. Plus I see huge consumer interest. So this is a winner. And the Hyundai is just too crossover-looking to make truck people happy.
@@jasonsuthern6326 For sure, I work for my small town, and I could see them when time comes replacing their fleet of F-150's with base Mavericks for the water/town maintenance department, and then keeping a single F-250 for the rare times they need to haul some of their larger equipment that Mavericks can't handle. Heck I could even see these for small rural police departments with the turbo 4 all wheel drive for the better fuel efficiency if Ford wants to offer these with a police package.
@@CommodoreFan64 the cheap hybrid is also amazing for young electricians/plummers and other people like that, is good to build credit and they are exposed to ford and get more loyal to maybe upgrade to something nicer 5 years down the line. I'm not from NA but VW controlled that market when i was young here and now that those people are older they are the market for VW more luxury offerings and even Audis. The Maverick is amazing for blue collar entrepeneurs, i mean if they notice it because that segment died in NA for a reason :P
I currently drive a 1994 Ford Ranger and tbh i love it. The maverick, at its price point, is almost the perfect upgrade if I want to keep with the compact pick up truck vibe. The places to store things and the performance it can bring really it interesting. I hope ford releases an extended cab version if you don't want crew cab so that you can have a slightly larger bed
i got a 2005 ranger xlt which i am going to have to hand down to my little bro when he’s old enough and this maverick seems like a great affordable next step up
I'm so glad that Ford built this little thing. I've always wanted my first car to be a pickup because I just like trucks, and since I don't want to risk buying a used truck, I can't really afford most new trucks easily. This little truck is perfect for me, and it will be my first car in the very near future.
@@ehansikoyatree9919 We own a maverick XLT hybrid in Area 51. Great truck overall, smooth, looks pretty good, hauls whatever we need to within reason, handles and rides better than most larger trucks. The suspension is a little stiff, but better than a ranger or Tacoma. It's also faster than most of the entry level vehicles out there. Most of those do 0-60 in about 10 seconds. The maverick hybrid does it in about 7. The Ecoboost in the low 6s.
Ford must have a serious hit on their hands because I've heard these are nearly impossible to find right now, they keep selling out. I'm not really a "truck guy" but if I ever got one, I'd get this. Affordable, compact, it seems like it really appeals to the so-called "pavement princesses" that like trucks aesthetically but don't really do any heavy lifting with them. That's clearly a big market and Ford has tapped into it. It kind of feels like a crossover SUV with a truck bed in a way.
This is one of those moments you know that a vehicle like this is going to explode. Doug is so excited about this vehicle. This thing is going to sell like hotcakes
Doug, the reason the tailgate mounts up higher or tilts is so that you can put a 2x4 across the wheel wells and carry 4 foot wide sheets of drywall so they’re supported equally high enough front and back. A big thing you missed.
To understand the significance of this price point on this truck, you could look back to around 1995 with the Ranger. A base model which was just a standard cab and stripped of all feature - no power windows or locks nevermind the Maverick having an infotainment system with Bluetooth and full array of safety features. Adjusted for inflation (I used inflation calculator), that tiny stripped Ranger cost approximately the same as today's 4-door, well equipped Maverick with a hybrid powertrain.
Those still exist but not in the US. In Thailand you can get an Isuzu Dmax with a 3.0L diesel, manual transmission, bluetooth audio, a few speakers, AC, extended cab (2 doors and 2 suicide doors), and nothing else. Costs about $20,000.
Ford has come out swinging with this one, and I believe it’s a home run. Especially in the over-saturated crossover market and eco clones. This is a nice departure. Also, the Santa Cruz kinda looks like a Subaru Baja. I don’t dig it one bit.
As the owner of a 2009 Ranger with the 4.0L V6, and an updated CarPlay capable head unit… Yeah it absolutely feels like exactly that. Solid, honest, powerful enough, and cheap.
I drove one today and definitely felt like that. I used to do deliveries in a basic work truck 2000-ish Ranger back in the day and this thing reminded me of it a ton, just way more modern. I was surprised that it even had really decent visibility by modern vehicle standards.
I have a 2005 Ford Ranger FX4 with 200,000 miles on it and the paint still shines like new. Something in the engine is making a lot of noise so I bought a new engine for it. Just waiting for the shop to install it. It’s an awesome truck. I love it. Definitely worth putting a new engine in it. It’s on my channel actually.

My local Ford dealer has a Maverick XL AWD with a dealer processing fee of $500. And that's it. Nothing else. There are some reputable dealer still around.
Being European, dealer mark-up isn't typically a thing. At least, it wasn't pre-pandemic. Are mark-ups only on stock builds or can you order a factory build at rrp?
This vehicle checks off so many of my boxes of what I am looking for in a vehicle. Hauls 4 people, 4x8 sheet goods, tows, great gas mileage with base hybrid and $25k out the door with the options I want. Also it's not obnoxiously large and tall like new F150s Rams and Silverados are. Great job Ford!
As a previous owner of the original 4 door maverick, it's nice to see that younger engineers translated the original intention of the brand. It was a family sedan that was cheap, but durable, and had loads of room. But I miss bench seats... in trucks and cars!

I will say this about the Maverick, I think it'll sell really well, especially with fleets and working-type individuals. It's small, cheap, perfect for city use, and it's basically enough pickup truck for 80% of pickup truck owners. Ford has also done something that no other manufacturer has been able to do: got me excited for a new car model, and made me start looking into buying one for myself.

More bed and less cab is what I've been waiting years for. I had high hopes when Subaru brought back the Baja/ Brat. The concept car even had a low range transfer case. Trucks don't need to be loaded with technology and luxury features. They're meant to haul stuff. Imagine how much lighter they would be without all the useless stuff they're forcing you to buy. Only a matter of time they're going to come out with a truck that offers 6-8 doors and a 1" bed. LOL.
Let's be realistic fellas, you guys and I want more bed, less seats (I drive a long bed, reg cab chevy), but the market has spoken. Weekend cowboys and truck posers have overtaken the market and demanded their "truck" be a 4 door luxury sedan ("Don't scratch the bed!"). The profit margins on $80k half tons are irresistible and who's going to be left behind? That's right, people who actually want a real truck... with a bed... that you can put stuff in.
Me as well but I was a bit disappointed. He forgot some incredibly important elements...Having driven this, back to back against a Santa Cruz, it is equally as quiet...and, while both are configurable, Ford has created a future of DIY through its program with this truck...it will be so very easy to customize, update and upgrade...
I love these little things. Never driven one but it fulfills the niche of someone who wants to occasionally haul gardening supply’s or furniture but isn’t looking to pull a trailer and usually just drives to work. I’d never own one because I need a big truck bed but these are great
Normally, I'd say wait for a few year to resolve quality issues. But the platform had been proven in other Ford's for years, and that hybrid system is known for being super reliable.

Id deff wait, I havent owned a Ford in years, and not too long ago we bought a 2012 focus, unfortunately we didnt research it much as it was a friends. 86k on it and the trans is going out. Thankfully the dealer is fixing it, but we have had to wait over a month they are so backed up. when I scheduled it the lady at the dealer said they have tons of trans problems on alot of their cars. Deff soured me on anything from them again.
@@shanester366 Never had an issue with my Escape other than the gas filler problem. And I loved that car and may buy the 2008 version at some point with the extra horsepower(still toothless). This is just a totally new system though. And I only want AWD where I live so this hybrid is a no go. I'm hoping they make an AWD hybrid at some point. But even then, I'll wait until people hit 150k miles on it before I buy a used one. I want to make it a camper. I'd permanently affix a seamless bed camper on it and I need to know what it can handle before I invest money and time into something that's likely going to be having endless problems I'd have to accept for all that effort
@@veganpotterthevegan My dad has a 2012 escape and seems to really like it. An AWD hybrid would be really nice for this, hopefully they will try it in the future. I used to be a decent ford fan myself, my dad is a big one and has had really good luck with them, but our focus is the 2nd dud ford we have owned and after reading how ford knew the trans was junk before they even put the car on the market made me really hesitant to buy anything new from ford. I like the camper idea though that would be nice!
@@shanester366 not sure if they'll do it but I really like Toyota's new hybrid system. Normal gas and electric assistance up front, and fully electric in the back. If Ford can't come through with a hybrid, I may go with a Sienna. But it comes with a lot of compromises off roading(an off-road version is in the pipe for them). I had a 2006 Sienna I turned into a camper and loved. Piss poor gearing off road, but the hybrid with all that extra torque in the back will really help. If I do the Sienna again, I'll build on a pop top that'll sleep two up high and one and two dogs in the bottom like my last Sienna

Honestly I think trucks in general are slowly gonna take over especially when all cars go electric they will have a frunk which will make trucks more practical.
I think this car is ideal for city professionals: Photographers, Theater Professors, Architects, Musicians. People who need space and practicality but don't need a lot of power.
actually really impressed by this. puts out more power and towing than a 4 cylinder tacoma with the same payload. on top of being smaller with better handling. Im interested to see how reliable this ends up being
@@og-big-shepherd4468 As someone who owns a maverick, I'm eternally grateful it isn't rwd. It handled our worst Utah winter on record beautiful, FWD for the win in this instance. Rear wheel is good for sports cars, but that's where it ends.

I have a FWD escape and it gets down uncleared roads straighter and easier than the guys I know who have RWD and even four wheel drive trucks since they’re still predominantly rear wheel and the back still kicks out all the time
The Colorado technically replaced the S10... It would be cool if Chevy introduced a 4-door unibody "El Camino" to compete with this though... But GM has been making alot of terrible quality and uncompetitive cars lately plus their pricing for most of their newer models has also been pretty optimistic and greedy so I wouldn't be too excited for one.
The wildest cost-saving Ford did on this to me is only found on the hybrid. That version doesn't have a reverse gear in it's transmission. Instead, it just cuts the gas engine and runs the electric motor in reverse.
That's how majority of hybrid drivetrains work, not just in Ford maverick. It's much simpler to have the AC motor spin backwards than having a whole another gearset for reverse.
I bet it's light enough that the average person can push it backwards if the battery dies. ...reverse went out on my Accord when I was a kid, so I just did that for about four months. X3
I didn't even know I wanted to pick up truck until I saw this. I love that it's small and practical. No nonsense and ready to get the job done whatever that is with just enough off terrain capability to get me to and from the job sites.
Doug was right on the money with his assessment of this truck. The fact that recently Ford had to stop taking orders for 2023 because they can’t keep up with the demand tells you Ford really hit the nail on the head. Interesting to see how Toyota and Ram will respond later this year. I’ve got a 2018 Raptor but thinking of getting a maverick with the tremor package as my daily. driver.

I got a I4 turbo AWD XLT cause I live in the backwoods of NY and there's not a lot of options here for charging ports for the electric part of the motor, and I added the towing and off-road packages cause of where I am just to be safe. I'm getting excited about it and watching these people review how much they like it isn't helping me XD
This is exactly why I will be ordering one soon. Me and the wife bought a house this past February. Doing things for the house made me not enjoy having my 2007 civic (also just old at this point) and my wife's 2020 Mazda CX30 isn't meant to pick up a lot of stuff. This car is perfect for me. I work from home so I don't need a crazy comfort vehicle that I use daily, I want great gas mileage when I do drive to help save even more money, and I want to be able to store and haul things when it comes up. I also really appreciate the basic infotainment system. The fact that it comes with android auto in the base model shows me Ford knows exactly who wants this truck
I ordered mine 3 weeks ago...3 weeks down and 14 more to go! Yes, they're backordered...shipping about 4200 a month...building about 6100...but that's all of Canada and the USA

It’s a basic work horse. With my family of three, I don’t do much work that needs a truck, but when you need one, this would be it. Hauling some trash, picking stuff up from the store. This is perfect for the family man.
in a weird way i almost like the cheaper interior better cause orange is my fav and in the desert I dunno leather is too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer its annoying.
@@danr154 I'm in the same boat 100%. I want EVERYTHING on the Lariat package, except for the interior. I think the interior in the XLT is absolutely perfect, but it's still lacking on some features I feel I need from the Lariat. I honestly wish the dealership would let me order the Lariat without the leather interior.
@@booliganshootingsports I've not talked to anyone who's actually been in one and I've not seen one in person. But I'm thinking the interior is just cheap plastic that looks good on camera. The doors look thin and I think it's going to be cheaper looking/feeling in person than what the reviewers are showing on YT. Lot's of cars get blasted in reviews for the "cheap plastic interior" but Ford is pushing the same thing. It's just looks better on camera. Gonna wait until I can actually get in one.
@@josephcitizen4195 call some Ford dealerships in the area and see if they have a demo one or one you can test drive. I did that few weeks ago and I was able to drive the XLT version. Actually the exact same color and features as the one Doug reviewed. I have to say, it is nicer than you think. First off the seats are really nice, the material impressed the hell out of me and I would take them over leather any day. The plastic didn't creak or feel too thin. It felt like thick plastic panels everywhere. To me at this price point, I felt was a good feature. If a panel or plastic piece gets damaged, this shit can literally be 3D printed. Replacements WILL be plentiful and cheap if damaged and for a cheap truck that in many years from now will become a beater roughed up throw shit in little truck, this is kinda the perfect material choice. Once again, it doesn't feel AS cheap as you're probably thinking it is, but it is a far cry from the Santa Cruz's very very nice interior. If you can afford the Santa Cruz, get that instead. Almost the same price as the Maverick Lariat and anyone who can get the Lariat should highly consider the Santa Cruz Limited trim.
Doug's points on the Maverick are very valid. I purchased a 24 XLT AWD a few months ago. Good power, good brakes, handling way better than I expected. 27-28mpg in mixed city/highway driving if you're not using the boost frequently. low - mid 30's on the highway if you keep it at 70.. Everything I need, nothing I don't. Very good price point for a new vehicle.
I dont think so really, the ranger was a true truck, just smaller, this is more of an crossover suv shaped like a pickup...a ranger will do a lot more real work than i anticipate this being capable of..
@13:55 The point of the mildly raised tailgate is actually to make it match the level of the wheel arches; that way you can slide full-size sheet goods in and then just tether a strap to wrap around the ends for keeping them inside while still giving the end of the plywood or whatever plenty of support. It's a really clever/easy way to add some large truck utility to something this small, especially since the payload is 1500 lbs (which btw is about the same as the base Ranger -- so "only" 1500 is actually quite a lot), and all it cost was making the tailgate/tethers the right size and putting the latch lugs in the right place.
Honestly what all the past compact trucks should've been in modern times. The fact that trucks like the Ranger and the Tacoma went from simple utilitarian trucks to more flashy ones really does suck when you look at how much more they're going for now.
The thing you dont get is that the Ranger already existed. It's been selling outside north america for years. Along with tons of midsize (small in the US) trucks that the US is missing.

I like this truck. Yes I know it's not as capable as the F150 but it has its place. I live in a townhouse with a single car garage. This truck will fit in the garage, let me take home an appliance, bookshelf, planters etc. It gives me how much truck I need while not costing me a fortune at the pump and fitting in my garage. I hear dodge is developing the ram 1200 for the same market segment.
I preffer fabric seats too, tho i wish more luxurious cloth options would return in cars in general - like velour, still has all benefits of normal cotton ones but is incredibly lovely to touch and more durable. But sadly its either cheap fabric or leather/alcantara. Velour would be in the middle price wise, but well we just cant have it :/
I drove this at the Portland international auto show. I already kind of wanted one, now I’m dead set on buying one as soon as I get my current car paid off. I feel like this is the perfect family vehicle for me to limit how many vehicles I have to have to save mileage on my project.
I don’t see them having any issues with this mini-truck, they are essentially using the same engine (if not the same) as the focus ST a tried and true engine and the AWD system that the focus RS uses which it self is a pretty damn good system. This will defo sell to people looking for a first time truck that don’t need something big and the absolute base model will 1000% sell as fleet.
For what these are, they seem pretty neat. Pretty decent value and some utilitarian usage. I think you're right about the drivetain. Of course, the comment section will be full of people talking about how this vehicle wouldn't hold a week with them because it's not tough enough for them. Even though that's not what this what built for.. Lol This will definitely serve a pretty big group of people very well and it doesn't look so "car like" like a Ridgeline. It would have been neat to see this in a single cab though.
The engine, you are sort of right. It’s used in the top model Bronco Sport and Transit Connect vans. The AWD system, though, is not like the Focus RS. The RS had a RWD based AWD system, much like a Subaru but more complex. This truck is based off the Escape/Bronco Sport, so it’s an FWD platform with AWD

I personally think the interior is spectacular. Love the simplicity and the styling they went for. This is nicer than my normal car and over here in Europe, this could be considered a work vehicle
All vehicles kinda have to get bigger to offer more safety, sound insulation and comfort while keeping similiar interior dimensions as previous generations
I see this as a great truck for service companies, pickup bed, storage, apple carplay, 42 mpg city, 20k. Sounds great if you need 10 trucks for your company! Put a ladder rack on top and a bed topper on with a tool storage system in the back you have a great setup for daily service work for plumbers, electricians, handyman, internet companies, you name it. Maybe even add an eco boost v6 and make a cop car out of it!

I don't have one on order, mostly because I don't trust first year products from any manufacturer, and I'm hoping for a hybrid AWD version, but I've made up my mind that this is my next automobile.
Ford has never really had my attention but the pricepoint alone was enough for me to look more into this thing, I've always driven Hondas my last two cars were Honda Accords and my current one is 20 years old and for the first time this truck has seriously made me consider I should do an upgrade.

I hope this truck will hit the Philippine Market soon! I so love this approach to people who aren't used to or just generally don't know about trucks. This will be a great platform for my uncle that's been using sedans his whole life.
This should do well with weekend warriors that need a bed to haul stuff but don't necessarily need the capabilities of a full sized truck. My second vehicle is a fleet model F-150 that is mainly used for weekend projects, hauling my bike, and driving in rougher weather. If one of these was available at the time I bought my truck I would've purchased it instead.
This is exactly what I was thinking. I don't need a full sized F150 or Ram 1500 but damn is it annoying having to put different racks on my little Kia to bring my surfboard out or get my bike to the trails. I do tons of music festivals and with an additional bed cover this thing would be perfect for hauling my friends and all our gear. I might sacrifice a little bit of highway milage compared to my Kia(not drastic tho as I average 34mpg hwy) but the savings I'd have with the hybrid engine in town would save me far more money over its lifespan. I think I'll wait a year or 2 to see what kind of issues the 1st year will have and how they resolve those issues, then buy in.
I'm curious as to what Doug would rate a 10/10 for the Value category, given how much time was spent praising this car's value and then only giving it a 7/10.
It’s actually not too complicated. The only 10’s I’ve ever seen him give were to cars that actually APPRECIATE in value over time. Things like super cars and whatnot.
I really like the basic center screen, everyone I know who has car play/android auto connects their phone to use navigation and stuff anyway instead of the built in versions. And no need to buy map updates from the manufacturer as well
I saw one on the road for the first time the other day and it happened to be on the freeway next to an 80's toyota truck. It looked huge compared to the Toyota. Still, it is the right size, gets a lot better mileage and is a heck of a lot safer than any compact truck of the past!

I can't believe Doug missed the huge white QR code sticker underneath the rear seat. If you scan that, it takes you to a site where you can download and 3D print accessories for the truck, some of which attach to that "clip" he mentioned in the rear. I think that's such a cool feature, haven't seen any other manufacturer encouraging customers to 3D print custom accessories for their cars
And also the hobby wiring so that people can safely and cleanly do other DIY work on their truck like running lights etc. Very big piece he missed.

This is exactly the type of design that made cheap Japanese cars so good in the 90s. Quirky and cheery designs, that aren’t overly goofy. These synthetic materials tend to hold up extremely well.
This and their insane reliability. Lets not act like that wasn't a huge part of their value. The jury is still out on the Maverick in this aspect.
I think Doug touched on this in the first Maverick video. For the economy value shopper that would have bought a sedan a few years ago, this is going to be what they buy. It's cheaper than any other crossover on the market. And comparably priced with an awful lot of Korean sedans.At this price you can have a Kia K9 or you can have a Ford truck. After delivery and sales tax what else can you buy under $25,000? Ford's already sold out of these through July 2022.

Ford crammed tons of value into this small package. Doug didn't have enough time to detail all the smart features, like:
- Those tailgate bottle openers are also handy tie-down points
- When in the mid-position, the tailgate is level with the top of the wheel wells, so you can carry 4x8 sheet goods
- The bed is full of slots for 2x4s and 2x6s. There's a 2x4 slot just in front of the wheel wells that's positioned perfectly for holding bike forks, and you can store the wheels between the 2x4 and the front of the bed.
- That slot in the rear cup holder is part of FITS (Ford Integrated Tether System), which includes both a family of storage accessories, and the CAD files so you can design and print your own.
- Lastly, folding down the rear seat back exposes anchors for child seat tethers. These are much better positioned than those on the F-150, which are too close to the child seats to work well (you have to route the tethers horizontally to other anchors).
Too many cool features to list. If the quality is high I think Ford has a hit on their hands that appeals to both young buyers looking for adventure and older buyers looking for practicality.
The bed tie downs, light, and power socket as well .
he covered some of those in the first video of the Maverick. I saw more FITS under the rear seats.
He also missed the AC outlets with 400 watts of power available in the hybrid model. That seems like the biggest feature of this model and it wasn't mentioned.

@@JamesD-HB "2 DC to AC inverters" - Both of those 400 watt 120V AC outlets draw off of a single 400 watt continuous inverter. If you try to draw 400 watts x2 continuous, you will blow the truck's inverter circuit fuse.

I finally got my 22 maverick lariat hybrid. 1 year later this truck is amazing. I’m able to get up to 600 miles per tank using the electric mode at low rpm’s. That is about 44 mpg, which is insane for a pickup truck
In my view, the hybrid version deserves the highest "value" score available, because it has moved the bar entirely. Simply put, when it comes to new cars - and I'm including Ford's destination fee in this - there is no other $21,490 hybrid, there is no other $21,490 truck, and IIRC, there isn't even a tiny car of any type that gets 42 mpg city for $21,490. To think you can get a hybrid truck that can haul upwards of 18 sheets of plywood, fit four, and get an amazing 42 mpg city for so little money in this day and age of overpriced vehicles is market-altering stuff.
To be fair it's hard to swallow the lack of cruise and steelies and lack of power tailgate (you can option in power mirrors via Copilot 360). I ended up speccing out a lean XLT....

I thought I’d have to settle for a Ranger(drove like shit compared to the Maverick, and the interior is shit and boring.) Drove to a dealership and there was a Maverick Lariat out front. Like I’ve been told countless times before, I assumed it was a Demo mode. Nope.
I almost didn’t believe it when they said it was for sale and they just got it the day before. I wasted no time😂
Honestly a lot of people prefer simple, non-flashy interiors. I dig it.

I would LOVE to have these at my AZ store! We've had a number of issues with our '19, '20, and '21 Colorados ranging from trans issues (loss of 1st and spotty 2nd gear) to security system issues ("Service passlock" no-starts) and even failed weather stripping at 6mo/14k miles. Fuel milage in the low 20s jumping to 40mpg would be fantastic for us as well!
I worked at NAPA as a driver, our fleet was mainly Chevy. I drove a '17 Colorado, alongside that was another Colorado, 2 Sonic's, a City Express, and a Silverado. Other stores were like this too, very few had Ford Transit Connects.
Personally, I probably would have already ordered one if they had a 2 door option. This is basically an SUV with an open air trunk.

Value also takes into account how well it will hold its' value. Since they will be mass produced and relatively cheap, Doug is guessing (or knows) that people would just rather buy a new one than get one 2nd hand. So the value score drops due to not holding monetary value over time - 7 is a great score for a vehicle like this.

Perfect for an average Dad like me. A small (affordable) truck that can haul around all my yard waste from mowing and trimming trees, transport outdoor play equipment for my kids, furniture, and all the materials I need to upgrade my fixer-upper home. All with enough seating for my wife and kids to tag along for some fun (productive) family time!

This truck is going to be incredibly popular. Main seller for me is the MPG. That is damn impressive especially at that price point.
Have had my lariat hybrid a week. Averaged 29mpg the first tank, averaging 36mpg on the second tank. And that included towing in the first tank. My 11 mile trip home today was 46mpg. 4 of those 11 miles were all electric. I'm quite happy with it.
@biblereader the power meter and how charged the battery is dictates when it switches. Mostly I can get it up to 17-20mph before it switches as long as you're staying under 20% power. If you punch it it will switch almost immediately. But once you're moving it's easy to get it back into electric even at higher speeds. And breaking regeneration produces a ton of electricity and you rarely use the real brakes until the very end of the stop unless you really need to stop quick. Many of my short drives are half or more electric in town. Like 9mi total, 6 of them electric. 54-58mpg on those trips. Climate control (primarily heat because it's only from the engine heat) requires the engine more often. So don't warm up. Just go and get heat once it's running the engine and the coolant temp rises a notch or two from cold.
Would you call the elcamino a truck... something with a 4ft bed isn't a truck... how the hell could you ever get work done with this. Just like the tonneau cover. Always sissy truck owners with those. Probably using it to haul groceries
@@kylegroth3199 A lot of people buy big ol expensive tough trucks and use the bed maybe once in a blue moon to help someone move or buy a grill...other than that it's a grocery getter. Many truck owners needs and usage would fit the Maverick from my point of view. Small cargo, short distances, unchallenging terrain, and minimal usage of bed and towing. A lot of people aren't actually doing any real work with their truck; trucks are like the most popular vehicle in America, they aren't all being used to their potential. So many people could get by with a "sissy truck" and pay less.

These are the trucks we need BACK. We need these perfectly sized mid-sized trucks. We also need manual transmissions back too! They make perfect work trucks. I miss the Dakotas, S10s, Rangers etc. I had an S10 and I put almost 300k on that thing. It never quit and it was a manual. I can’t wrap my head around paying 50-100k for a truck. I actually use my truck and it’s a TOOL for me.

Had a 1995 s10 v6 5 speed manual and loved it. Drove it for a decade with minimal issues. I love a mini truck for a work commuter and general beater.

Doesn't have to be that way. Order it online from Ford, get called into the dealership of your choice to verify the order, then sign the purchase agreement and make sure the dealer does too. If you do this, they have to honor the Ford online price.

I really like the approach ford had with this truck; I am not a truck person but I can see the appeal of having something that is not a monstrosity in terms of dimensions that is practical, usable and affordable. No nonsense features, just practical and utilitarian.
If Ford can get this out without the issues they had with the explorer/aviator then they are going to have a huge hit on their hands. I can see all the little companies like orkin driving these.
What issues did they have with the Explorer? I see a bunch of them, Ford dealers are full of them all the way from cheap $26k base to 60k platinum AWD models.

I had to rent a car a few weeks ago and they upgraded me to an AWD platinum explorer with the Ecoboost V6 and I was pretty impressed by the power and technology. I hated the transmission though. The first few speeds are really clunky at slow speeds

I can see this being absolutely massive in fleet sales. All those construction and similar companies that need lots of vehicles that can visit remote or dirty sites but not cost a ton. The $20k one does everything such companies need. And it will cost them a decent chunk less based on volume.
Plus I see huge consumer interest. So this is a winner. And the Hyundai is just too crossover-looking to make truck people happy.

@@jasonsuthern6326 For sure, I work for my small town, and I could see them when time comes replacing their fleet of F-150's with base Mavericks for the water/town maintenance department, and then keeping a single F-250 for the rare times they need to haul some of their larger equipment that Mavericks can't handle.
Heck I could even see these for small rural police departments with the turbo 4 all wheel drive for the better fuel efficiency if Ford wants to offer these with a police package.

I currently drive a 1994 Ford Ranger and tbh i love it. The maverick, at its price point, is almost the perfect upgrade if I want to keep with the compact pick up truck vibe. The places to store things and the performance it can bring really it interesting. I hope ford releases an extended cab version if you don't want crew cab so that you can have a slightly larger bed

Great truck overall, smooth, looks pretty good, hauls whatever we need to within reason, handles and rides better than most larger trucks. The suspension is a little stiff, but better than a ranger or Tacoma. It's also faster than most of the entry level vehicles out there. Most of those do 0-60 in about 10 seconds. The maverick hybrid does it in about 7. The Ecoboost in the low 6s.

Ford must have a serious hit on their hands because I've heard these are nearly impossible to find right now, they keep selling out. I'm not really a "truck guy" but if I ever got one, I'd get this. Affordable, compact, it seems like it really appeals to the so-called "pavement princesses" that like trucks aesthetically but don't really do any heavy lifting with them. That's clearly a big market and Ford has tapped into it. It kind of feels like a crossover SUV with a truck bed in a way.
This is one of those moments you know that a vehicle like this is going to explode. Doug is so excited about this vehicle. This thing is going to sell like hotcakes

Doug, the reason the tailgate mounts up higher or tilts is so that you can put a 2x4 across the wheel wells and carry 4 foot wide sheets of drywall so they’re supported equally high enough front and back. A big thing you missed.

To understand the significance of this price point on this truck, you could look back to around 1995 with the Ranger. A base model which was just a standard cab and stripped of all feature - no power windows or locks nevermind the Maverick having an infotainment system with Bluetooth and full array of safety features. Adjusted for inflation (I used inflation calculator), that tiny stripped Ranger cost approximately the same as today's 4-door, well equipped Maverick with a hybrid powertrain.

I drove one today and definitely felt like that. I used to do deliveries in a basic work truck 2000-ish Ranger back in the day and this thing reminded me of it a ton, just way more modern. I was surprised that it even had really decent visibility by modern vehicle standards.
I have a 2005 Ford Ranger FX4 with 200,000 miles on it and the paint still shines like new. Something in the engine is making a lot of noise so I bought a new engine for it. Just waiting for the shop to install it. It’s an awesome truck. I love it. Definitely worth putting a new engine in it. It’s on my channel actually.

Drove this Hybrid all weekend and even towed with it. Loved it. Some plastic dash rattle on horrible roads but on average roads everyrhing was great

This vehicle checks off so many of my boxes of what I am looking for in a vehicle.
Hauls 4 people, 4x8 sheet goods, tows, great gas mileage with base hybrid and $25k out the door with the options I want. Also it's not obnoxiously large and tall like new F150s Rams and Silverados are. Great job Ford!
As a previous owner of the original 4 door maverick, it's nice to see that younger engineers translated the original intention of the brand. It was a family sedan that was cheap, but durable, and had loads of room. But I miss bench seats... in trucks and cars!

I will say this about the Maverick, I think it'll sell really well, especially with fleets and working-type individuals. It's small, cheap, perfect for city use, and it's basically enough pickup truck for 80% of pickup truck owners.
Ford has also done something that no other manufacturer has been able to do: got me excited for a new car model, and made me start looking into buying one for myself.

The tailgate height adjustment is to align it with the top of the wheel wells, to support sheet goods like plywood and drywall.
Engine, 4 wheels, AC and a stereo with bluetooth, reverse camera and a buttload of storage, you won me over. This for me would be like a second vehicle for doing home projects, moving furniture, going to the hardware. And it is affordable. Even better, its good enough i could daily drive it.

More bed and less cab is what I've been waiting years for. I had high hopes when Subaru brought back the Baja/ Brat. The concept car even had a low range transfer case. Trucks don't need to be loaded with technology and luxury features. They're meant to haul stuff. Imagine how much lighter they would be without all the useless stuff they're forcing you to buy. Only a matter of time they're going to come out with a truck that offers 6-8 doors and a 1" bed. LOL.

He forgot some incredibly important elements...Having driven this, back to back against a Santa Cruz, it is equally as quiet...and, while both are configurable, Ford has created a future of DIY through its program with this truck...it will be so very easy to customize, update and upgrade...

Looking at classic 80s & 90s trucks, you really miss just how small and compact many of them were. Cool to see a return to that.
This is similar to when Honda brought out the Fit when the Civic and Accord got too big and expensive.
Normally, I'd say wait for a few year to resolve quality issues. But the platform had been proven in other Ford's for years, and that hybrid system is known for being super reliable.
This is a new system. I had a 2006 Escape Hybrid with 260k that someone else is driving now. That was designed by Toyota. This is all Ford.

Id deff wait, I havent owned a Ford in years, and not too long ago we bought a 2012 focus, unfortunately we didnt research it much as it was a friends. 86k on it and the trans is going out. Thankfully the dealer is fixing it, but we have had to wait over a month they are so backed up. when I scheduled it the lady at the dealer said they have tons of trans problems on alot of their cars. Deff soured me on anything from them again.

This is just a totally new system though. And I only want AWD where I live so this hybrid is a no go. I'm hoping they make an AWD hybrid at some point. But even then, I'll wait until people hit 150k miles on it before I buy a used one. I want to make it a camper. I'd permanently affix a seamless bed camper on it and I need to know what it can handle before I invest money and time into something that's likely going to be having endless problems I'd have to accept for all that effort

I used to be a decent ford fan myself, my dad is a big one and has had really good luck with them, but our focus is the 2nd dud ford we have owned and after reading how ford knew the trans was junk before they even put the car on the market made me really hesitant to buy anything new from ford. I like the camper idea though that would be nice!
@@shanester366 not sure if they'll do it but I really like Toyota's new hybrid system. Normal gas and electric assistance up front, and fully electric in the back. If Ford can't come through with a hybrid, I may go with a Sienna. But it comes with a lot of compromises off roading(an off-road version is in the pipe for them). I had a 2006 Sienna I turned into a camper and loved. Piss poor gearing off road, but the hybrid with all that extra torque in the back will really help.
If I do the Sienna again, I'll build on a pop top that'll sleep two up high and one and two dogs in the bottom like my last Sienna

The Colorado technically replaced the S10... It would be cool if Chevy introduced a 4-door unibody "El Camino" to compete with this though... But GM has been making alot of terrible quality and uncompetitive cars lately plus their pricing for most of their newer models has also been pretty optimistic and greedy so I wouldn't be too excited for one.

The wildest cost-saving Ford did on this to me is only found on the hybrid. That version doesn't have a reverse gear in it's transmission. Instead, it just cuts the gas engine and runs the electric motor in reverse.

That's how majority of hybrid drivetrains work, not just in Ford maverick. It's much simpler to have the AC motor spin backwards than having a whole another gearset for reverse.
I bet it's light enough that the average person can push it backwards if the battery dies.

I didn't even know I wanted to pick up truck until I saw this. I love that it's small and practical. No nonsense and ready to get the job done whatever that is with just enough off terrain capability to get me to and from the job sites.
Doug was right on the money with his assessment of this truck. The fact that recently Ford had to stop taking orders for 2023 because they can’t keep up with the demand tells you Ford really hit the nail on the head. Interesting to see how Toyota and Ram will respond later this year. I’ve got a 2018 Raptor but thinking of getting a maverick with the tremor package as my daily. driver.

I got a I4 turbo AWD XLT cause I live in the backwoods of NY and there's not a lot of options here for charging ports for the electric part of the motor, and I added the towing and off-road packages cause of where I am just to be safe. I'm getting excited about it and watching these people review how much they like it isn't helping me XD
This is exactly why I will be ordering one soon. Me and the wife bought a house this past February. Doing things for the house made me not enjoy having my 2007 civic (also just old at this point) and my wife's 2020 Mazda CX30 isn't meant to pick up a lot of stuff.
This car is perfect for me. I work from home so I don't need a crazy comfort vehicle that I use daily, I want great gas mileage when I do drive to help save even more money, and I want to be able to store and haul things when it comes up.
I also really appreciate the basic infotainment system. The fact that it comes with android auto in the base model shows me Ford knows exactly who wants this truck

I think the interior in the XLT is absolutely perfect, but it's still lacking on some features I feel I need from the Lariat. I honestly wish the dealership would let me order the Lariat without the leather interior.
@@booliganshootingsports I've not talked to anyone who's actually been in one and I've not seen one in person. But I'm thinking the interior is just cheap plastic that looks good on camera. The doors look thin and I think it's going to be cheaper looking/feeling in person than what the reviewers are showing on YT.
Lot's of cars get blasted in reviews for the "cheap plastic interior" but Ford is pushing the same thing. It's just looks better on camera. Gonna wait until I can actually get in one.
@@josephcitizen4195 call some Ford dealerships in the area and see if they have a demo one or one you can test drive. I did that few weeks ago and I was able to drive the XLT version. Actually the exact same color and features as the one Doug reviewed. I have to say, it is nicer than you think. First off the seats are really nice, the material impressed the hell out of me and I would take them over leather any day. The plastic didn't creak or feel too thin. It felt like thick plastic panels everywhere. To me at this price point, I felt was a good feature. If a panel or plastic piece gets damaged, this shit can literally be 3D printed. Replacements WILL be plentiful and cheap if damaged and for a cheap truck that in many years from now will become a beater roughed up throw shit in little truck, this is kinda the perfect material choice. Once again, it doesn't feel AS cheap as you're probably thinking it is, but it is a far cry from the Santa Cruz's very very nice interior. If you can afford the Santa Cruz, get that instead. Almost the same price as the Maverick Lariat and anyone who can get the Lariat should highly consider the Santa Cruz Limited trim.
Doug's points on the Maverick are very valid. I purchased a 24 XLT AWD a few months ago. Good power, good brakes, handling way better than I expected. 27-28mpg in mixed city/highway driving if you're not using the boost frequently. low - mid 30's on the highway if you keep it at 70.. Everything I need, nothing I don't. Very good price point for a new vehicle.

@13:55 The point of the mildly raised tailgate is actually to make it match the level of the wheel arches; that way you can slide full-size sheet goods in and then just tether a strap to wrap around the ends for keeping them inside while still giving the end of the plywood or whatever plenty of support.
It's a really clever/easy way to add some large truck utility to something this small, especially since the payload is 1500 lbs (which btw is about the same as the base Ranger -- so "only" 1500 is actually quite a lot), and all it cost was making the tailgate/tethers the right size and putting the latch lugs in the right place.

Honestly what all the past compact trucks should've been in modern times. The fact that trucks like the Ranger and the Tacoma went from simple utilitarian trucks to more flashy ones really does suck when you look at how much more they're going for now.
The thing you dont get is that the Ranger already existed.
It's been selling outside north america for years.
Along with tons of midsize (small in the US) trucks that the US is missing.

I like this truck. Yes I know it's not as capable as the F150 but it has its place. I live in a townhouse with a single car garage. This truck will fit in the garage, let me take home an appliance, bookshelf, planters etc. It gives me how much truck I need while not costing me a fortune at the pump and fitting in my garage. I hear dodge is developing the ram 1200 for the same market segment.

The fabric on the seats are absolutely fantastic... I would pick this over anything on the market...
I preffer fabric seats too, tho i wish more luxurious cloth options would return in cars in general - like velour, still has all benefits of normal cotton ones but is incredibly lovely to touch and more durable. But sadly its either cheap fabric or leather/alcantara. Velour would be in the middle price wise, but well we just cant have it :/
Truck buyers are either not differentiating on interior, or they are looking for a much nicer interior than this.

I drove this at the Portland international auto show. I already kind of wanted one, now I’m dead set on buying one as soon as I get my current car paid off. I feel like this is the perfect family vehicle for me to limit how many vehicles I have to have to save mileage on my project.
I don’t see them having any issues with this mini-truck, they are essentially using the same engine (if not the same) as the focus ST a tried and true engine and the AWD system that the focus RS uses which it self is a pretty damn good system. This will defo sell to people looking for a first time truck that don’t need something big and the absolute base model will 1000% sell as fleet.
I see Orielly Auto parts buying heaps of these to replace old ford rangers and nissan frontiers.
For what these are, they seem pretty neat. Pretty decent value and some utilitarian usage. I think you're right about the drivetain. Of course, the comment section will be full of people talking about how this vehicle wouldn't hold a week with them because it's not tough enough for them. Even though that's not what this what built for.. Lol
This will definitely serve a pretty big group of people very well and it doesn't look so "car like" like a Ridgeline. It would have been neat to see this in a single cab though.
The engine, you are sort of right. It’s used in the top model Bronco Sport and Transit Connect vans. The AWD system, though, is not like the Focus RS. The RS had a RWD based AWD system, much like a Subaru but more complex. This truck is based off the Escape/Bronco Sport, so it’s an FWD platform with AWD

MSRP on the base model is about $19k. With full options and dealer markups you're looking at over $40k for one. Even more if it's the first edition.

Had a friend back in the early 90's who had a fully restored awesome Ford Maverick. It used to be a muscle car! So kinda neat that it's now a truck.
I bought the hybrid XLT. I've had it 3 weeks and love it. My gas mileage is incredible up to 45 mpg on some trips.
That rules. I saw one on the road here. It looks good in real life. I hope it holds up for you.
My mpg is about 11, currently. Silverado with 8' bed hauling... does tons of stuff, but damn the gas mileage is brutal in town.

I personally think the interior is spectacular. Love the simplicity and the styling they went for. This is nicer than my normal car and over here in Europe, this could be considered a work vehicle

Yeah, I was parked next to a new Ranger the other day and that thing was almost the exact same size as my 2010 F-150.
All vehicles kinda have to get bigger to offer more safety, sound insulation and comfort while keeping similiar interior dimensions as previous generations

I see this as a great truck for service companies, pickup bed, storage, apple carplay, 42 mpg city, 20k. Sounds great if you need 10 trucks for your company! Put a ladder rack on top and a bed topper on with a tool storage system in the back you have a great setup for daily service work for plumbers, electricians, handyman, internet companies, you name it. Maybe even add an eco boost v6 and make a cop car out of it!

Ford has never really had my attention but the pricepoint alone was enough for me to look more into this thing, I've always driven Hondas my last two cars were Honda Accords and my current one is 20 years old and for the first time this truck has seriously made me consider I should do an upgrade.

I hope this truck will hit the Philippine Market soon! I so love this approach to people who aren't used to or just generally don't know about trucks. This will be a great platform for my uncle that's been using sedans his whole life.
This should do well with weekend warriors that need a bed to haul stuff but don't necessarily need the capabilities of a full sized truck. My second vehicle is a fleet model F-150 that is mainly used for weekend projects, hauling my bike, and driving in rougher weather. If one of these was available at the time I bought my truck I would've purchased it instead.
This is exactly what I was thinking. I don't need a full sized F150 or Ram 1500 but damn is it annoying having to put different racks on my little Kia to bring my surfboard out or get my bike to the trails. I do tons of music festivals and with an additional bed cover this thing would be perfect for hauling my friends and all our gear. I might sacrifice a little bit of highway milage compared to my Kia(not drastic tho as I average 34mpg hwy) but the savings I'd have with the hybrid engine in town would save me far more money over its lifespan. I think I'll wait a year or 2 to see what kind of issues the 1st year will have and how they resolve those issues, then buy in.

It’s actually not too complicated. The only 10’s I’ve ever seen him give were to cars that actually APPRECIATE in value over time. Things like super cars and whatnot.
A 7/10 is pretty good for a new car. But I'm pretty sure it would be a 10/10 only if it's a used Maverick.
Not saying it needs a 10 but the same value as a TRD pro seems off.

I really like the basic center screen, everyone I know who has car play/android auto connects their phone to use navigation and stuff anyway instead of the built in versions. And no need to buy map updates from the manufacturer as well
I saw one on the road for the first time the other day and it happened to be on the freeway next to an 80's toyota truck. It looked huge compared to the Toyota. Still, it is the right size, gets a lot better mileage and is a heck of a lot safer than any compact truck of the past!
If I live in the US, this would most likely be the car I'd be driving if I needed a truck. Simplistic and useful without painful compromises.
I grew up during the 80s minitruck craze. So happy to see a possible throwback to those good ole days. Will we see kids cruising around with house speakers in the back? Never since they don’t make house speakers anymore lol but we might get dancing beds???
