- Welcome to my channel!
My name is Rod Jones. I'm a 5th generation farmer and KC-135 pilot in the Ohio Air National Guard.
I was Active Duty Air Force for 16 years and have been with the Ohio Air National Guard for 4 years.
If you, or anyone you know, may be be interested in military service, please send me an email and I will be happy to offer my thoughts/experiences from the past 20 years.

Thanks!
Years ago I flew over to southern Ohio MOA with reserve refueling group out of Grissom. Back then, VIP civilians were allowed to be in cockpit and lay on stomach next to boomer while refueling. Two tankers.. I think refuel training for Ohio or Fort Wayne F16s. Was a total blast. The tanker I was on, was lined up in a year for the GE CFM upgrade. I bet you guys do not now allow a civilian pilot to sit in right seat. As a GA pilot/owner… This was one of my bucket list items. We sure appreciate what you all do!
I wish Boeing would get its act together. Tankers are in real hurt with KC10s, and 135s future. Boeing chaos caused less KC46s to be produced due price overruns. Plus morons in Congress and WH throwing money all over the place except USAF and tanker teams for massive increases for modern aircraft. You Tube suggested this channel. Subscribed.
Thanks for giving me a try John!
About the only way I could get you in the right seat is on a static display at an air show!
Yes, we are hurting for tankers. I wish they could just open up the KC-135 assembly line again! The -135 has been a great airplane, but nothing lasts forever.
What a great treat to see this! There is a whole lot going on in the cockpit to execute a formation fly-over like that, and you guys nailed the timing perfectly. As a native Buckeye and USAF (ret) parent, every one of your videos hits it out of the park with me. Thanks to you and all your flight crew team for what you do and for sharing some of it!
I appreciate the comment!
It was a very busy flight for sure, but definitely worth it!
Thank you for your service!
Well done. Sent chills down my spine! You have the life. Farming and flying. Thank You for your service
I'm a pretty fortunate guy!
@Ohio Flying Farmer I have a short video of it also. It was an emotional day seeing America’s best pilots showing us what freedom and sacrifice look like. Thank you all making a great show.
Love your TH-cam channel. I have a small farm in WI and in a week from today I will be dropping my son off at the USAF Academy. Keep the content up.
SALUTE !
That is awesome! What an achievement for your son, and also for you as a parent!
Does he want to fly?
Gentleman you are true professional of your craft. As a Navy veteran 1980-86 Air Wing VA 203 Cecil Field FL I salute you my heart was filled with pride watching your fly over while the national anthem played AMERICA! AMERICA! AMERICA!!
I’m a US Navy veteran also. ADJ3, A-6 Intruder plane captain, VA-42. NAS Oceana. Oct. 18, 1971 to Aug. 15, 1975.
Thanks Caesar! Thanks for coming out to the show! There is supposed to be another one next year with the Thunderbirds!
@@dennishayes65 Got out of the Navy and went to work for Grumman Aerospace in St. Augustine, FL we overhauled the outer wing panels on the A6’s after the Navy found out they were being hot fueled with to much pressure and separating the stringers from the lower covers after several outer wing panels disintegrated in flight. I think they were only suppose to be hot fueled around 6-8 psi but they found out some had been fueled up to 26 psi and when we started taking the wing’s apart there was all kinds a damage inside the wings don’t know how some of them were even flying, it was a testament to how well built the A6 Intruder was built. Thanks for your service mate.
Absolutely great! America 🇺🇸
Thanks Jon!
What's up Ohio Flying Farmer? Good to hear from you! Pensacola
Go get'um boys. Great job. I was totally impressed.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I love the navigators comment "Got any old rickety building you need down?" Please don't scare the cows!
A lot of business going on in that cockpit, great video
There sure was! Thanks for watching!
Another great video Farmer. Definitely a busy cockpit today. I gave ya'll a hand salute during the flyover. Proud of all you do.
I thought I saw you down there, haha!
Thanks for coming out!
Glad you let your boss exercise his wings a bit. That was a lot of work in a short time and executed very well. Thank You.
There was definitely alit going on!
Wow!! Another “mom and dad” proud moment as you and your crew flew over during the airshow. This video is the best ever!! Go Bucks and America!!🥰🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you guys for giving me the opportunity to do this stuff!
@@ohioflyingfarmer7050 🥰
Abso - fing - lutely Magnificent. Loved the shadow of your bird across the ground.
I thought that was pretty cool too!
I was headed east on SR22 near Amanda when you guys turned inbound on the Eddie Low. Well done!
You should've stopped by and got some free food!
@@ohioflyingfarmer7050 I should have. It's been a long time since I was up that way. I haven't even been to the V since Sammy's retirement party last August.
Out standing. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Gary!
Excellent....such a treat to see!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Great Show !!!!!👍👍👍 Wish I could have been their.
There is supposed to be another one next year with the USAF Thunderbirds!
Loved it. Great to see what U.S. service men can do. Thanks to all for your service. Rod the pen and pencil look good in the flight suit.
I had intentions of mentioning the pens, but I got a little busy!
Maybe next time!
What a performance. You Guys really made a great impression on this video. 🎉
Thanks David!
Looks like the priority Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion quotas haven't hit that crew yet.
A flight to remember.
Yep! I'll forget most of them, but probably not this one!
Brilliant!
You guys always do it well. The setup, the mandatory floor all of it was amazing. Great job from a retired tanker guy. Your professionalism is top notch. Nothing like hearing CFM56 jets startup.
Thanks for watching Ed!
Nice video Rod. Sorry that I could not come down for the show. Looks like you had some good weather and great attendance.
Yep! It was sold out on Saturday. They are supposed to have another one next year with the USAF Thunderbirds!
Outstanding! Thank you.
Thanks Dave! Have a happy 4th!
Very informative and more hectic than I imagined. But it's all in the timing.
Great video, loved the boom window and your boss doesn't seem like a pwe which is cool.
Yes, it's all about the timing! Better to be a little early than a little late!
Awesome video it was great catching the unit at the airshow!
Thanks Matt! Glad you could make it out!
That’s a lot going on just to get off the ground. Amazing video. Fantastic job by you and the crew!
Thanks Barbara! It was a busy flight for sure!
It took me a while to figure out what you were flying and I really enjoyed your little video...
I'm glad you enjoyed it! You should check out some of my other videos!
Freaking awesome job guys!!!
Thanks Brian!
Some good HOOAH stuff, Sir!
Really Badass Rod!!!!
I appreciate it!
Fantastic video. Showing what actually goes on to have the perfect fly by. For those that think that it is a waste of money, they can kiss my foot. Or a little higher if they prefer. Full bird, light bird. Love it, love it, love it. We know you are going to be busy with the farm but can't wait for your videos. God Bless.
Thank you for the comment! I've already addressed a couple of comments from the "fun police" haha!
Like I told them, I don't care what it costs, if it helps to inspire a handful of kids to join the military someday, then it is money well spent!
@@ohioflyingfarmer7050 AMEN.
Both you and Wolf are masters of that machine. Fantastic to see and experience. Keep 'em coming! 👍
I don't know about "masters," but we got done what needed to be done!
Thanks for watching!
That was a really nice air show my farm is about 8 miles SW or rickenbaker so we saw lots of air traffic last weekend plus went to the show didn’t see you but maybe next time looked like you were busy anyway!
You guys prob had the best seats in the house from your front porch!
@@ohioflyingfarmer7050 we saw a lot we had center stage tickets on Friday at the airport now that was a show!
Atta boy Rod. Great video.

Great timing nice flying .A lot of work by everyone to make it work.
It definitely took the whole team!
Thank You ☺️ 😊
Dam that was a great video. It’s nice being in the cockpit with you guys because that’s something I will never get to do. Thanks for the entertainment. Keep up the videos, flying or farming they are both interesting .
Thank you for watching Don!
I hope everything is ok and you and your family are doing well
Hey Joe!
Everything and everyone is good!
Some folks had a problem with my military content, so I'm working through those issues.
I hope to post a new video soon!
Another great video and Happy Belated Father's Day. I hope your crops are'nt suffering and your getting some much needed rain.
Thanks Joe! We were very dry a couple weeks ago, but we got some rain finally and everything is looking ok for now!
The KC-135 might be getting old , but it will always be an elegant looking lady of the skys.
I don't think I've ever seen the words "KC-135" and "elegant" used in the same sentence, but I like it!
@@ohioflyingfarmer7050 My son has been in the air force almost 22 years now, getting ready to retire next year. Been at Ellsworth AFB for about 12 years now. I get kind of a behind the scenes with the planes he has been around, interesting to say the least for an old farm boy from nebraska.
Just found your channel and really enjoyed the airshow flyover! I'm retired Army but I did get to spend 3 years flying as a Airborne Command Post Crew Member on a EC-135 out of Mildenhall, UK.
Thank you for your service! I'm just curious, how did you find the channel? I don't feel like it gets pushed out much by TH-cam for whatever reason.
@@ohioflyingfarmer7050 Your channel just appeared on my UTube basic screen, probably because I have been watching aviation related channels. Watching your videos brings back many good memories, except I flew in the old "Water Burners". Lots of noise on take-off, and then it gets really quiet! Always a good gag to pull on the Newbies. I was in Mildenhall 1979-82 and 10th ACCS provided our aircraft.
Great video Ron. Nice to see you flying with your boss. He seems like a good man. The flyover was cool to look at. Thank y’all for your service see you next time.
Thanks! Yes, we are lucky to have him as the boss!
What ever you guys where talking about with the tower 🤷🏻♂️. Awesome!
Thanks Ed! We were just trying to make sure the band started the national anthem in time so that we hit the flyby timing just right!
Thanks for sharing buddy hope you had a great Father’s Day perfect timing on the fly over awesome job everyone
Thanks again Scrotie!
Hell of a job Sir.
Thanks bud!
Another great video, nice job to you and the Ohio ANG team!
Thanks Wolf!
So sick to see you were flying on this! I got some pretty good pictures of the flyby with the F35!
Great!
What a great performance you all did wow! I was going to come out to that airshow this year and I didn't. Now I wish I would have. Oh well hopefully I can make it next year. As always thanks for taking the time to bring us along and thanks for your service as well. 👍😁
It was a good one! Hope to see you next year!
Must be a real hoot getting to do cool stuff like that
We don't get to do it often, but it is a lot of fun!
I’m trying to get hold of some Ohio patches. I love watching your videos. Are you able to help? Thanks 😊
Heck yeah!
👊🏼!
Hey, just saw that they've done some testing of C-5M refueling a KC-10 Tanker out of TRAVIS.
Oh yeah?
That was awesome. Thanks for sharing, buddy. Carl
Thanks again Carl! You should've came to the show!

This was a fantastic video. It was awesome to see the cadence you and your team had with each other. Lots of moving parts it seems. I bet it was a high pucker factor day!

Yeah, I think some seat cushions got sucked up for awhile! Lots of airplanes in a tight space!
Farmers can do anything!

Thunderbirds are supposed to be coming next year!
Got to ask how that swim noodle worked out at the top of the silo? Did you try it?
We only fill the silo once a year, so I'll have to wait until next year to try it!
