Couldn't be happier for a talented dude. Boots Riley has been fighting for disenfranchised people for years through his music. Great, great artist...
Real talk. I know boots Riley.. he told me and my brother that he was coming out with a movie. I am so proud of him
@@caseyowens5386 stop lying.
I really appreciate that Trevor has pointed out that this talent is called Code Switching; it is referred to as such in psychology. Have you ever noticed that very few white Americans can code switch into more than one dialect whereas we expect our black compatriots to do this continuously throughout their day? It is phenomenal. This film sounds like a must-see.
"The white voice" is used by whites too, at the same degree as it's used by blacks, check out Peter Coffin's video on Sorry to Bother.
Not just blacks but all other races. Especially the ones that have accents if you know what I mean
Especially children who grow up with mixed parents and bilingual
"What's going on right now IS the product of ignoring what's been going on for a long time."
Couldn't have said it better myself.
To all my fellow intelligent, dilligent working-class Americans, go and watch this movie ASAP. It's worth the high theater admission, I swear. Or wait until it's at the library? I don't know, but you'll see your struggle honestly and creatively reflected, and it will feel really good, really good.
Thanks for the thumbs up, folks. Also, wasn't this movie just frickin' wild and great?! Working people sticking together in these weird times is so sorely needed.
@@ecoecho1982 Also, the portrayal of isolation and racism in how his coworkers constantly see him. The party scene was what sold me on this movie, where they pressure him to rap and he fully realizes how they see him as subhuman, an entertainment source
This movie had the most unexpected twist and turns. Crazy
OMG Everyone left the theater in utter shock. I was quiet for a while, then some guy mentions how crazy the ending was and I burst out laughing! Now my hubby and I can't stop saying "Equisapiens, let's roll!"
God this movie man
Amazing... absolutely amazing
He's communist.
I mean it in a good way, not in a bad way.
Haven't seen any trailers but this interview convinced me to see the movie.
My screenwriting professor assigned the screenplay and now i can’t stop listening to Boots Riley.
I just finished watching this movie. It’s insane.
It was one of maybe two movies that I've ever seen where I actually laughed out loud in the theater. Really funny stuff
His movie will be in my head for the rest of my life
it's funny how this interview makes me think of the scene in the movie where the principal personnage goes on tv
I cannot believe Sorry To Bother You is this king’s one and only movie. Boots Riley owns my ass now.
Damn this movie hits so hard rn
I work for a huge corporation and I agree 100% with this movie. The greed in the corporate side of things is absolutely crazy. We make more in profits every year and the pay for a employee has only decreased since I’ve started there. The unions used to be good but now are just there to deceive the employees into thinking they are getting fair treatment when they don’t do anything for the employees. I wish we could do more to stop the unjust treatment of Americans who waste there life’s working just to barley get by, when the CEOs don’t do a thing but screw people over for more money. Love this movie it’s so accurate to how he world really is.
He looks and sounds like a more put together Kat Williams
Alex Clark Kat William's IS a "more put together" Kat Williams. Take another closer deeper look.
I thought the something
I'm fucking exhausted but we got to keep up the fight!
Libertarian socialism/anarcho-communism!✊
You know someone is a racial activist when you see a black dude rocking a fro’ and sideburns😂
Pork Chop, Mutten Chops side burns...lol yes, he reminds me of all my Uncles from back in the 70's
That's how cats looked back then.
Dude looks exactly how my old man looked back in the 70’s. 🤣 Must be that Oakland thang.
Or he just likes his hair the way it grows out of his head?
He looks like katt Williams
Forza Inter
Boots has been a hero of mine for about a decade.
THIS MOVIE IS BRILLIANT
I just saw his movie...
Much to say about this one on many levels...
Talk about the fine tuning and use of one's given hidden talents...
All I can say is folks better watch out....
Funny that Boots is talking about this movie to a corporate sell-out, but I also appreciate that Boots is putting the movie out there and doesn't seem to have a superiority complex
Boots Riley is so dope its impossible to explain
So true, I use my "
"Becky Heather"
voice, from 9 to
5!! They are
*shocked speechless*
when they *meet*
me!!😂😂
The man is a mad genius
This sounds super interesting. I have to see this film.
kuroichan101 come back here when you are shook
...it was there. Too hamfisted for my tastes, but I think it's the type of person we're looking at. I knew nothing about this guy until I JUST watched this interview, and yup... I felt like the movie was a music video stretched out over an hour and a half. Seems I was right.
The hyperbolic humor is pretty good, though.
Sorry Trevor, but this brotha is know well beyond Oakland and San Francisco as a rapper. The Coup has been rockin worldwide for decades bruh
Also, I seriously doubt that there is a single black person in America, no matter how radical, who hasn't felt the pressure and whether consciously or subconsciously resorted to using some degree of "white voice" to survive
The white voice is about struggling working class, not about blacks per se.
@@MaximC its about both class and race
@@MaximC intersectionality

Emma With The Gs I'm black and yes he does look like Katt Williams. Lol He could easily pass for a close relative like a brother......
patrig8 it's his twin for real lol
This guy looks exactly like Katt Williams gestures and voice, my God !!!!!!!
Samad Jackson no he don’t shut up
Allister Tenpenny No he doesn't. (Not he don't) grammatical mistake.
This should’ve been a longer interview!
He was one of the bay rappers I used to listen to like Pharcyde, Del the Funky Homosapien
Amilcar Schettini Pharcyde is from LA
He was with The Coup
The best example of voices in HBO’s Insecure.
This movie is incredible

So anyone else notice that he's basically talking to the protagonist of his movie here?
Love it!!
Yes
Where can I find his jacket/robe/cardigan though? 🔥🔥
I'm sorry but when I clicked on the thumbnail I thought this was Katt Williams in character. First time I've heard of Boots Riley. Well done buddy.
Boots Riley is a genius... This is why I love Trevor Noah, he always invites the best guests on ☺
the coup has a little story to tell everyone
Solidarity✨
Thought this might be a Katt Williams character. Good to know that Boots Riley is his own man. Will check this movie out as soon as I can.
Any one from SA🇿🇦
The movie is craaazy 😂😂
Is he the new 'Spike Lee'? ma man
"rebellion is edited out... unless it's some world 300 years into the future we can't relate to"
Lost futures, the inability to imagine a world beyond capitalism in our own lives. Boots, you've started the piercing of the veil!
"the economic system we live under" guess they wouldn't let him say capitalism 😂
Seeing this tonight
He looks like the movie he made lol
That movie was so fucking good! I was laughing I was crying I was judging I was feeling. I LOVE THIS MOVIE
this is my movie from my brain. i dont want money but im enstine get me on the show!
Soon as he walked out I knew
The irony of a multi millionare loving this movie is amazing
When is this movie coming to Britain?? 😩😩😩
He's got the same voice as Chris Griffin LMFAO
"people arent used to thinking while laughing" by people you mean americans. and i agree. thats why i prefer british comedy.
boots is the truth
The revolution is being televised on TH-cam
Well anyway, I said that's no burglar, that's my butler!!!
Power Callers, go see this movie!
He reminds me of Kat so much.
I remember seeing The Coup (R.I.P. Pam) - Dig It on BET back in the day. in 2024, groups like that would never see the light of day on Viacom owned channels
Never let that punk ass ever defeat you.
*the struggle*
Having worked in contacts centers all of it is still sadly prevalent today and applies to all other coloured ethnicites.
I'm going Saturday
The horse people 😮😮😮😮
That's Kat Williams in costume!....
It turned into a troma film towards the end
i all heard was fuck capitalism and yes cooperative economics, thanks Noah
We call all LEARN a lot from BOOTS. LISTEN.
People cheering a communist, Americans are ignorant or waking up. Go Boots!!!
1:40 say it louder so the people in the back can hear you 🗣🔊
Spike Lee who?
*OAKLAND STAND UP!*
The movie felt like a nightmare but it was great movie
The ending was the weirdest part
Ya'll should check out Children of Men. The movie is great!
Yooo!
at 0:19 does he have a dagger in his back pocket?
It certainly looks that way. I have no idea why he felt the need to carry that, but alright.
Actually that's his pick.
Speaking of white voice. Trevor Noah never looked whiter to me then in this short interview.
Will the real kat Williams stand up
🤩😍
Bootsy riley is the son of bootsy collins lmmfao jus kidding but they both are funk masters
Funky Lebowski
It's very weird movie, and I wanted to leave the theater at least 3 times during the movie because it is a bit too graphic / explicit for my taste, but mostly bc I was in for laughs and fun, and did not expect it to touch on so many dark/ugly side of society's issues. It did bother me.
#walkaway
Always ends when economics come up
Is that you Katt Williams..lol?
I've been anticipating this movie for the longest time and I was a bit disappointed because my expectations were too high. It is still a great movie, but a couple of scenes felt like filler.
Boots finally getting his due...only took like 25 yrs
