Ark 1 without bugs would be the best game ever. Ark 2 can be insane.
@@GorTheMovieGod When you played it, how many maps were available? Now, there are five original maps, with 4 official mod maps and a few hundred new creatures. There's a full desert, complete with heat exhaustion, hyperthermia, sandstorms, heat waves, electrical storms, giant sand-crawling death worms and a black chasm full of dragons.
The cave map is what it sounds like: it's a massive cavern, filled with giant mushroom trees, poisonous plant life, glowing or mutated animals and deadly levels of radiation, to say nothing of the massive, radiation-proof monsters found in the deepest recesses...
Extinction is...
self explanatory as well. Surface world, _more_ radiation, radiation sick super animals, a dead futuristic city, more mutations and massive bio-domes, full to bursting of unique creatures.
Among others, of course.
I think what made ARK such an enjoyable experience for me was the awesome modding community, I truly hope ark 2 will support modding!

When we played it when it first came out it was nearly unplayable.
Oh well now if you know what your doing and don’t piss off the alphas on your server ark is pretty enjoyable
I meant because it was very buggy and the frame rate was extremely low but I'll give it another shot

@@GorTheMovieGod yeah, its still a lil buggy but playing with friends makes it the most fun, anyways, just because the first one wasnt that good doesnt mean the 2nd one will be the same, and im looking forward to seeing gameplay sometime soon
@@barozukos7791 tbh what i actually don't want was the ability to make health 1,000,000 and to where dinos can't hit you and you can survive lava

Since you only played Ark when it came out, yeah I would definitely suggest trying it out again (I've read the other replies, I'm glad to see you will!) I've watched videos from back then and I don't blame you that you stopped playing, the optimisation was awful! It's improved a lot since. I only started playing it the past few months and the only issues I've had is with getting stuck in terrain on occasion (which you can use console commands to escape in SP). Single player is pretty much the only thing I play and it runs perfectly fine for me. Multiplayer can have some bad lag still, but it's intermittent.
I'm so hyped for Ark II though! It's looking amazing!
I'm more excited for the animated series, than ARK II. I hope, taming and riding dinosaurs will still be a thing. That's, what made the original ARK so unique.
Hopefully making them harder to tame by you needing to guard them for a time before they let you passive feed it to gain trust and make saddles harder to make by you needing to get specific hides and resources for many different creatures and make the saddles the carriers/if you dont have a saddle the creature cant carry anything and the higher the quality the saddle the more things it can carry and they will make you handfeed it or it will get a debuff on all of its stats except for oxygen. Idk why this just came to mind when i read Ark II and I really wanted overhauled taming and saddle crafting but its just my opinion.
Too Past Too Furious
Ark used to be pretty shity at launch, and bugs are still here. But i love the game, its good mix of fantasy creatures with sci-fi halo stuff, i made many fun memmories in this game, met amazing people, an the game has a good art direction and essence... sucks its buggy
Everyone’s perception of Ark is dependent upon what year they started playing. The game has improved a LOT over the years, and although it’s not perfect it’s still one of my favorite games to date.

Only found this video because I recently got back into ark. Used to hate it - after finally getting it to run, it would punish you for looking at a dinosaur the wrong way (or being too hot).
Despite that, there was a lot of potential for building up a base, a herd, a character, and even some semblance of lore.
Kind of disheartening to see some guys circlejerk the sequel in its first announcement despite giving up on it some 4+ years earlier.
*not salty, just sad lol - My hype ended and I didn’t realise people treated this game like it was atlas
