"I'm afraid..." Finally, Rockwell admitted the truth. That was the real thing that controlled him, fear. Fear of being wrong, not being the greatest scientist... Fear of dying. Then Helena left him behind on Aberration which turned him into what he is here. Alone. At least this time - he didn't die alone. I agree, too. And even in spite of everything he did wrong and all the effort H-NLNA put to stop him, Helena didn’t bare a grudge against him. She understood him better than anyone else. And she said herself in her Aberration dossier that she chose to remember Rockwell not at the deranged monster he became, but as the curious old man and friend she once knew and cared for back in the Island ARK.

I'm not sure if this is correct, but sometimes I think the Rockwell's "Helena? I'm afraid." line wasn't actually present-day Rockwell. I think this because he addresses HLN-A as Helena, because it was so bright he couldn't see; he would have just heard Helena's voice and thought it was her, approaching him as he ascended. And then HLN-A's "Shhh. She knew." also implies that Rockwell may have been addressing Helena, either as some sort of prayer to a friend or directly, because he actually thought she was there.

Through Rockwell turning into the thing he became, and finally admitting the fear of what he had done. It genuinely makes you feel bad for the poor guy, or the guy the is still left inside Rockwell’s body now.
The Extinction and genesis events are different , extinction ended with earth recovering , while genesis was on a simulation and ship , that wanted to find life in other planets , the ship explode and now all the remaining crew is on a new mysterious planet , so ARK 2 will be alien themed
@@thewielder3445 yeah that's pretty much it , the reason because all the remaining survivors are primitive is due that they're clones of the real people , Santiago is actually very smart in extinction he designed the Meks to defeat the king titan , but the Santiago of ARK 2 don't know anything , due that he just wake up
@@jimmystevenson1680 I don't think that Santiago we se now is unaware of what happened in his original life on earth(before the element apocalypse), and what happened on the arks and in extinction, hence him saying "Respawned again.". I think that Helena has some plan, and needed to revive Santiago like she did to Diana. Why? Maybe the story in ark 2 will tell us!
I’ve been saying this but Ark could really be Halo’s prequel with the ancient humans and forerunners. They have the rings, both experimented on energy, Rockwell’s part of the ship was the equivalent of the freakin Flood and primordials, HLN-A looked like something that could pass as Mendicant Bias. The whole thing!
the ark 2 trailer was kinda questionable, but this ending clears everything up, as well as knowing we will still possibly be able to see or even play as our original survivor.
For people that watched the series" The 100" Ark 1(Island-Gen1) still resembles some Eartly human and creatures. But on Ark 2, now resembles the S6-7 of the series, Begins on an Unearthly and Alien. Which is their new theme.
Even through all the bugs and all the bullshit this game has, it is truly beautiful, a game that has lasted 6 years about punching birds while being naked has left such a mark on the internet, and that ending, wow just wow.
Despite the monster Edmund became he still was kind a human down in his heart and that was also portrayed masterfully your movie version of aberration neddy. It was very clear in Rockwell descent into pure madness in a quest for immortality and then he regretted all he had done at the last moment of his life it’s extremely beautiful storytelling and the person who made this character arc deserve all the praise on the world

Still don't feel Vin Diesel as Santiago...like AT ALL. Honestly I think Diego Luna would've fit the part much better in my opinion since some old posted stuff shows his name as having been Snatiago Camacho implying he was Latino instead of Santiago Da Costa which feels much closer to an Italian last name(which fits Vin Diesel given he's part Italian).
To be fair vin simply got addicted to ark about two years ago, he loved/hated the game and decided he was gonna help make a better version of it so he can play it. He thought Santiago was the coolest character and decided to be him in the game
Just hope for ark 2 now they got a bigger budget etc they make there own servers, not nitrado bs. Has a great support team to enforce the nasty players that exploit/aimbot so it doesn't become meta.
I just finished it for the first time the other day and I had saved the ending song on my Spotify and now when it comes on I'm a blubbering mess. Glad to know I'm not the only whose heart got shattered by this. Thanks ARK for giving me more David Tennant emotional damage as if "I don't wanna go" wasn't enough.
Absolutely such an incredible ending to such an amazing game! Who know that from waking up on an island, knowing not of where you are and just trying to surive, to an epic adventure fueled by TEK could be so powerful and emotionally grasping? This is such a fitting end. The power of these scene. "Helena..? I'm afraid!" "Shh... she knew." That bit hit me like a TRUCK! I actually felt bad for his death after that. I went from a "YEAH! I WON!" to a... "Oh... I won." I love this game so much!
Rockwell was in his best form back in the island, he wanted to help tribes out by making tonics and such. Its sad that he turned into this. You can see him getting his sense knocked in at the end, being actually afraid. A couple minutes ago he was doubting it all and saying he would escape.
Ah yes, running away from dilos on the beach and knocking out dodo's with your fists trying to see if they eat meat from it's other dodo friend you brutally punched to death, to trying to knock out an alpha raptor, to farming, to taming your boss killers, to defeating the guardians, to prepare for the Overseer, to fight the Overseer, to defeat a fantasy Manticore creature, to trying community maps, to defeating a man lost in the thing he made his goal to research, to fighting a Titan bigger than Godzilla if it stood up straight for once, to fighting goth Optimus Prime, to fighting the man lost in his own fear, guilt, and soul. I miss this game already, hope ARK II is good.
I just realized that the planet the ring landed the pods on is different from earth. Meaning that there are now 2 habitats in the ark universe. This could also mean that since Rockwell was destroyed (“his physical self”) in the corruption ring he could be brought back on earth. Helena had her physical form destroyed but due to her being a ascended being threw the ark she was able to construct HLNA. Rockwell could have used this same method to get onto the colony ship since we have evidence that it launched when the arks launched long before Rockwell went on his rampage. If this is true then after his death in gen 2 he could somehow revive on earth where abberattion is failing to do the reseed process properly due to it being heavily damaged. This is just a theory of mine and it’s highly unlikely that anyone will see it.
This survivor is beginning to see how much power I really have....You all really think I am gone.....I already had plans made for if something like this happened....
wow after almost 10.000hours spent playing this game it gets a great end. im so impressed. Sometimes Wildcard gives the players what they deserve (often not :( )
From my understanding, HLN-A is an artificial construct designed and built by Ascended Helena, imbued with all her knowledge and the relevant protocols to act as a guide for the survivor to help them through Genesis parts 1 & 2. Helena herself is now a Homo Deus. I'm not sure but she's probably like an Overseer-type being now. Can't quite remember if its stated where she went after ascending though.
1 thing for sure HLN-A is a shadow or precisely Have same knowledge Nature To put this HLN-A is direct clone of helena but its like entirely different person that inhabited the body or rather a flying robot
HLN-A Is but a shadow of Helena, she put a how do I say this a part of her consciousness in her so she that she helps the survivor finish what she couldn't back in Abberation and it is stayed it back in the teaser trailer and HLN-A herself that she is just a shadow of someone that was once human so yea.

Through Rockwell turning into the thing he became, and finally admitting the fear of what he had done. It genuinely makes you feel bad for the poor guy, or the guy the is still left inside Rockwell’s body now.

After 6 years of surviving the ark through all the updates and bugs and meshing i feel this is a fitting end and made me shed a tear.
It's the Beginning of a New ARK 2! ^.^
we came along way, from punching dodos on beaches to fighting Tentacle monsters .
I love ark ❤️
same, friend. Same.
Me too…
Same here
I do love how its gone, but I played two years before release and it's lost something
The Extinction and genesis events are different , extinction ended with earth recovering , while genesis was on a simulation and ship , that wanted to find life in other planets , the ship explode and now all the remaining crew is on a new mysterious planet , so ARK 2 will be alien themed
Well it definitely explains why everything on ARK 2 looked so primal.
@@thewielder3445 yeah that's pretty much it , the reason because all the remaining survivors are primitive is due that they're clones of the real people , Santiago is actually very smart in extinction he designed the Meks to defeat the king titan , but the Santiago of ARK 2 don't know anything , due that he just wake up
Also fun fact both Diana and Santiago came from a future period of humanity , unlike Helena or Rockwell that came from modern and past periods of time
@@jimmystevenson1680 I don't think that Santiago we se now is unaware of what happened in his original life on earth(before the element apocalypse), and what happened on the arks and in extinction, hence him saying "Respawned again.".
I originally thought ark 2 was gonna suck, but after this i want to play it more
the ark 2 trailer was kinda questionable, but this ending clears everything up, as well as knowing we will still possibly be able to see or even play as our original survivor.
For people that watched the series" The 100" Ark 1(Island-Gen1) still resembles some Eartly human and creatures. But on Ark 2, now resembles the S6-7 of the series, Begins on an Unearthly and Alien. Which is their new theme.

"Helena, I'm afraid!" That line had more emotion than I was ready for

"Helena..? I'm afraid!"
"Shh... she knew."
That bit hit me like a TRUCK!
We'll find out what happened when ARK 2 comes out!
2:44 made my kinda cry though...
Dude that’s insane I love ark
I’m glad Santiago made a return, I was upset when he died and didn’t even get to use the mega mek
I feel bad for you. I hope you discovered about Helena eventually on Ark 2
I believe there could be parts at the ruins about hlna.
She did say that she had little time left to back herself up so maybe.
That last line from Rockwell I checked up
Ah yes, running away from dilos on the beach and knocking out dodo's with your fists trying to see if they eat meat from it's other dodo friend you brutally punched to death, to trying to knock out an alpha raptor, to farming, to taming your boss killers, to defeating the guardians, to prepare for the Overseer, to fight the Overseer, to defeat a fantasy Manticore creature, to trying community maps, to defeating a man lost in the thing he made his goal to research, to fighting a Titan bigger than Godzilla if it stood up straight for once, to fighting goth Optimus Prime, to fighting the man lost in his own fear, guilt, and soul.
It would honestly be kind of funny if he and HLNA somehow revive and they're just like "well fuck."

Really wish my game wouldn’t crash and/or delete my character every time I ascend 😭
I still haven’t found the answer, did Helena become HLN-A or is Helena still a separate person? Well not person but you know what I mean
1 thing for sure
HLN-A is a shadow or precisely
Have same knowledge
Nature
To put this
HLN-A is direct clone of helena but its like entirely different person that inhabited the body or rather a flying robot

When He said "Helena, im afraid" that shit had me crying... Sad to See rockwell go like this. He was a good man.
Key word "was." It's hard to tell if his acts in scorched earth were a result of element exposure already getting to him, or his own intent. I have mixed feelings about this fella, but his death did make me sad.
@@burnt_0range319 On scorched he was obsess to found about element since he thought that the elements were the key to understand the ARK and get out of it.
Before he injected on aberration he was still hiself
@@will_cyclingfitness6106 Yes, but before he injects himself, he starts talking in the third person, like he's influenced somehow. That could be his own insanity or being around element for too long. Idk though

But ye I really want him to return, the survivor too as Rockwell was a great villian
