4:55 You know things get real when even Vengerov's bow bounces on the string while performing a chord. I have no words to describe how committed he was that night, we are so lucky it got caught on videotape. What a grandiose performance, for a split second he became the living embodiment of fury, I am still wondering how he did not break a string on these crazy series of chords.
if you look closely, you can see he actually snapped a few strands of hair on his bow at exactly 5:04, you can see em hanging off on top of the front of his hand and off the end of his bow
I don't know a SINGLE educated thing about music, much less classical music (I came here from randomly watching a Twoset Violin video), but that bit was the part that hooked me so hard. It's so powerful and eerie which is what I'm such a sucker for in music. It's so metal. 🤘🏼I can't stop thinking about those notes played together like that since I heard it a couple days ago. Now I'm off to look up what tenths are...
I came here from TwoSetViolin because I wanted to hear a full version of Maxim. Oooffff chillllllls. It is amazing... I don't have words.♥ It feels like your in space.
This is so good!!!! Did you notice how no one coughs?? That in itself shows how committed the audience is to hear this amazing performance, everybody in complete awe and fully concentrated!
OMG! It's gets better and better every time I hear it! And (the applause), as much i hate that noise right after the end of most amazing performance ever, The shear joy (of that applause) on his face (which he deserved more) made even that noise exiting
This was the first interpretation i heard of this piece. And Vengerov plays it with so much personality, so much interpretation and emphasis, that i cannot "unhear" it - no matter how good other interpretations are, i have his emphasis in my mind and everything else feels lacking (even if the other performances are absolutely brilliant and sometimes from more "mature" artists - vengerov is soooo young here!) 5:16 There is a specific part, a specific harmony i am always looking for and all other interpretations i have heard blaze through it and don't give it the brilliance and moment to shine (which is not a flaw! Probably even "more truthful" as i hear this part often played like a pearly run, silver arpeggio)
Because there will always be musicians better then you but we strive to be better than we were yesterday. The competition is within yourself. Keep at it and you never know how good you will get!💗
5:33 Something that not a lot of people point out, is right about here, ysaÿe put the marking *poco a poco slargando* meaning to slow the pace a bit before those final vivo chords. The only recording I’ve ever seen this happen was with Chloe Chua’s recording
There's an unofficial upload of this performance which has around 250k. Also his Sibelius Violin Concerto performance from this same day has over 4 million views.
I'm speechless everytime I listen to this performance
*speechless
Do you generally speak in the middle of musical performances?
@@jaredconnor Being speechless is different from not speaking

Amazing huh bra???❤️❤️
Perhaps one of the greatest performances of all time
There should be smoke coming off that violin! I don't think the violin even knew it could do that!!! That was insane ❤️

This performance was so good, the guy at 5:37 lower right corner lost his dentures.
😂
The best interpretation of this piece. Vengerov offers a show of virtuosity.
Accelerated a bit in the middle, couldnt feel the climax.
I would recommended listening to Chloe Chua's, Vengerov's was too rushed imo
I feel mentally obssessed and addicted to 5:27
*_THE TENTHS! SO EPIIIICCC_*

I love this piece and I like every rendition of it but Mr. Vengerov's take on it is absolutely my favorite.
I can’t stop listening to this
Such a superb performance by the great Vengerov ..👍👏👏👏👏👏👏

Why does TwoSet associate this piece with boxing though?
he was really focused that night and technique and artistry matched..
Another level Maxim Vengerov
Most amazing musician EVER!
busting this out after a sibelious concerto HOW!?
Supernaturally brilliant. Bravíssimo

very beautiful, virtuosic playing! Really well done Vengerov!

A true classic. ❤️ 🎻

Perfection and beauty epitomized!!❤️
there is something about 1:53 that sounds so familiar, like it came from some scene or something.
I agree
1:50. The real deal
That's because I've heard this isolated part somewhere that I have tried so hard to find which piece it belonged to. ... incredible.

Magnífico!!!
Incredible.
This one video made me subscribe to the whole channel!😍❤️
I love the part that the orchestra sits behind Vengerov and just chill
Wonderful 👏👏👏👍
Such control ...
You don't see orchestra applauding every day.
Oh my!! 🥰 For me Maxim is to this Ysaye piece what Heifetz is to the Tchaikovsky concerto.
Senza parole. Dio in terra
Virtuoso! Glory of God!!!
Best version ever played
My first exposure to this piece and all others I've heard pale in comparison.
Hope you can come to New Zealand
Unbelievable
