    Bro you got it all wrong. We only claim the actual credit card tips that were paid on to us on our checks. Not the total tips made during our shift. Because we pool our tips. Otherwise, is have some night where i would have been reported to have made 800-1000 dollars. 😂😂😂

    I get what you're saying, but in canada servers are paid pretty well. Almost as much as the cooks from our minimum wage increases. I am totally for the minimum wage increases, but I notice that servers are now doing less. As in, they are now not doing side cleaning jobs and things like that. So other people are either hired to do it or it gets dropped on the kitchen staff to do. I found that weird because every raise servers get.... they feel they are entitled more plus complain about tip out while the company is paying more on your wage PLUS hiring cleaning companies to do your job AND the kitchen is covering your slacking.

  • @datgaydude

    Im still looking for a form. Because as a server I end up paying taxes on all the "tipout" money. Which I dont think its fair. So currently Im playing IRS and taxing the tip out money on what I would pay if I were to keep the money.
    Example: My tipout is $100. I pay 30% in taxes every paycheck. So I tax $30 on the $100 so my tipout ends up being $70.
    I dont want to stiff my colleagues. But Im not paying taxes on what Im not bringing home.

    I just started my first serving job and they do this but for some reason I feel like I need to tip my bussers and dishwasher people more but then think of the other staff who are putting in work too so I feel conflicted if so how would you go about it? Somehow my dollar only stretches soo far then idk if that would interfere with the other coworkers etc 😅 maybe some friendly advice

      As a worker, you really should stand with other workers, the owners do not need you to fight for them, they already have the government, laws and other owners with them and they wont fight for you. Also, when you run a business and cant pay people a living wage due to things like rent being high, then maybe you should not have the business cause you cant run it well, just a thought. EDIT: When i was a server, i made 1.5-2k in sales for a 6 hour shift with 3 to even 10 servers working the same shift. The money is coming in, more than you think

  • @shaveicemaui
    @shaveicemaui ปีที่แล้ว

    Let me explain some more percentages to you. Typically your rent is around 10%. Food cost is roughly 30% labor cost is roughly 30% bills are roughly 20%. There’s something called spillage, breakage or theft, which is roughly 3%. Add this up and you will see the restaurant is profiting 7% before taxes and this is only provided that everything is running smoothly and operations are going perfectly. Unless we raise the prices significantly, there is no room to pay for staff extra money. That being said, I also believe anyone who has to deal with customers such as bussers, food, runners or host should get some of the tip out as they are helping the server make good gratuities, and although they may not get nearly as much they should definitely have incentive to charm people as well. Another perspective is that tipping is very much American and was established shortly after slavery was abolished so that white people did not have to pay Black people and Black people had to kiss ass in order to get any money at all. I’m just saying. Chef, Christopher Malik.

    Yeah, that system seems totally
    Fμ¢kë|). №† a very legit sounding policy. Have you ever Flat Out Refused to pay the tip out? Or is it forced? Either way, I would do some research through the Better Business Bureau & your State's Labor Board. Good Luck Man🤑🤜🤛😎

    Okay !!!!!! Let's talk !!!!!!!! Soooooo, you're saying typical tip out is 5%? This is where both you and , your commenters are losing the point !!!!! Standard tipped wage worker tip out is 5% typically right???? Right! It is 5% of your tips !!!!!!!! Not 5% of your sales !!!!!! And what you're experiencing is illegal bc it is based on sales!!!!! Not your tips !

      thats great and all, ive worked in over a dozen restaurants in 3 different states, its always based on sales. They teach you it based on sales, they make you sign contracts before you are hired with the explained process. And talking about legality for business owners is a joke, they can get away with anything and pay a small fine when caught, its a joke

    This video taught me a lot and I understand tip outs now. It was educational and clear. BUT... I REALLY do not think you pay tax on shared tip portions--You only pay tax on your own tip portion. (Thankfully... Phew!)

    You think tip out is bad? Try working at a pooled house with a point system. The more people there throw on the floor, the more people taking out money in the amounts associated with their points assigned. Now that's corrupt.

  • @datguy3245

    $100 × 5 $500 a week on top of $90 a day if it's 5 days at 6 hours a day at 15 an hour minimum wage and tips get better say you work weekends and also you can pick up extra shifts and I wish I made that much a week and only worked 6 hours a day for 5 days out the week I make about $1200 every 2 weeks and I don't get tips and that's at makeing $1850 an hour 5 days a week 7-8 hour shifts so you probably make more git more opportunity to make more and still complain imagine having to bus the tables make the drinks and whatever the other person did on top of your waitresses now if you can do all that then you deserve the while $150 your tipping your help for serving you are you complaining about tipping?

    Why do ppl get upset when someone doesn’t tip you?
    Do u tip the bank clerk, security guard, the 7/11 worker, ur local ice cream man? Probably not! So then why do people who work in the food industry always feel ENTITLED to receiving a tip. Or it’s somewhat problematic when people don’t tip. If you feel like ur under paid or not making it, change jobs! U don’t hear executives complain about tips, why?
    Because they chose the right career field, and make a living off the job they chose. Not feeling entitled to receiving more due to lack of ACCOUNTABILITY on ur own actions

    • @stan9090
      @stan9090  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      thats the dumbest thing i ever heard, in the US, tips for servers is essential, its an industry where owners get to pay workers nothing and all their income comes from tips. Those others jobs you mentioned are hourly or salary, service is not, it has nothing to do with accountability at all.
      You choosing not to tip when you know they get paid nothing is you lacking morality for your fellow human being and making excuses like the one you are making now. It says a lot about your character and this bs on they chose their job, okay cool, how about no servers and no restaurants then, where you going to go to eat?
      Grow up and be nicer to people who are trying to get by and live, stop being so negative, they dont choose how they get paid and if you worked any job in your life, then you understand they cant fight their boss for more pay, they will just get fired.

      because all of those people get paid a base hourly salary. Servers are paid below minimum at $2.35 an hour. $2 AN HOUR... because their wage is made only on tips. THAT'S the system. It's the systems fault.
