I am a car noob. Followed all yr instructions and went like a charm thankyou. Little 3.5-jack to bluetooth and my whole car is cable free/hands free. Thankyou matey !!!
For the lazy, or those having trouble removing the top panel, this part and in fact the entire radio unit doesn't have to be removed if you have nimble hands. Once the centre console is removed, but with the radio still bolted in place, I was able to just feel around the back from underneath and plug the aux cale into the head unit. Just bend the cable back on itself (theres not much room) and keep the plastic clip pointing upwards. you can then just feel for the 2 mental prongs which you should see holes for on the aux plastic plug, use this as your guide for where to go. The aux plug is directly under the radio's number 6 button on left hand drive uk models.
I've just installed mine. The video worked a treat, nice one! A mate paid a garage £130 to do this. I had it completed and gave the hard to reach places a clean in just over an hour. I'm very happy.
Thank you for your video. I was having some issues with the Parrot Bluetooth kit in my Civic. The control box was behind the radio unit. I got confidence after seeing your video. I replace the kit all on my own. Now I àm enjoying the music from the stock head units. It just awesome... Hardly it took two hours for me to do it..... Thanks a lot mate! Appreciate it
Used this guide for taking the dash apart so I could install the xcarlink for the civic. Brilliant and detailed guide. Just in case anyone was wondering - the xcarlink BT can reach back to the centre console from the stereo and the mic cable is long enough too. Thanks for doing the video.
I'm using a radio transmitter with USB in my '07 Honda Civic MK8 Hatch, play everything off a flash drive, works fine. In some areas the radio frequency I have mine set to is used by local radio stations so there is some static, but that only happens when I travel cross country, so I don't really care. Normal use has a very slight static hiss to it, not noticeable at normal listening volume. I do want to upgrade the speakers though, and that might require a direct-aux setup like this, otherwise the slight static through the better sound might drive me mad.
@@cpt2fantastic you don't really know much about audio quality don't you? :D for me, this methood is the only possible way of listening to music in my car. radio transmitters are considered as serious punishments in my family :))

Hi Paul thanks for the video. I want to fit a Aux and USB cable to my CIvic 2006 uk model with Satnav. Can you please help to find the right cable that will fit my civic? Thanks again
I have the sat nav model and you have to splice a couple of cables as they share the same slot in the plug, I did it by removing the connector from the plug and sliding the wire down the side of the connector as I put the plug back into its slot, works perfectly. No issues with the normal working of any in car equipment and the cables were solid in the plug. I've wired it to a Bluetooth dongle in the arm rest(also 2xusb in there) and listen via Bluetooth...connects when I get in the car.

hi mate, would you know what would cause the central locking control and fan+radio display to stop working after installing a new head unit. everything was working until i plunged the new unit. any suggestion would be deeply appreciated.
Hi, really great video! I’ve the same car which I bough recently off a private seller but my battery goes flat every 2 days. I noticed the previous owner had 3 charging cables, a Bluetooth kit and an aux kit connected to the radio which I wanted to remove to see if it helped stopped the drainage. This video was great and I was able to get everything removed within an hour, I wouldn’t have had a clue where to start without this. P.s the battery still goes flat and I’ve been reading in forums that this seems to be very common and widespread. Anyone else have this issue and no what’s causing it?
Never heard this to be common for the 06-11 models. I have an 06 model (with sat nav). If anything is going to make your battery drain faster, it may possibly be the fact that something is being left plugged into the cigarette lighter, but then again I leave my devices plugged into there. Also check for any corrosion between your battery terminals, I cleaned this when I first bought the car last year using baking soda
Jordan Lucky thanks for the reply! I thought it might have been the Bluetooth kit and chargers that seemed to be hardwired into the radio by the previous owner so I’ve removed them and replaced the battery but I still have to disconnect the battery when parking up. The terminals seem to be pretty clean I’m wondering if it could be a loose connection somewhere which means the battery isn’t getting a full charge when driving but if I disconnect the battery it starts first time everytime. I definitely think something is live when the ignition is off I just don’t know what
The chargers and all that shouldn't really have been a problem if they were being used with the engine running and not alone on battery power. It may not even be the battery at at all, it could come down to being a faulty charging system or a bad alternator which isn't giving out enough voltage. I wouldn't take it anywhere else to be looked at except for Honda
Civics had a recall on battery earth leads I think. Try google search 'civic battery earth fault' or variations and follow links to Civic forums for info
My screwdrivers must be shit because I managed to round the head on the first screw on the centre console (right near drivers side bolster), managed to unscrew it with a massive adjustable spanner of all things! just order a ctvhox002 as cant find the 001 for under £50 and have a trim tool in the post. Did this stand the test of time as an AUX input for you? I only want to use it for my iPod classic
Would a pioneer 7 inch double din fit with a fascia adapter?
Hey @Paul Edward I had issue after plugged in my bluetooth thing, it seems like its working but radio does not want to change to the mode of CD/AUX, only if my Cd disk is inserted it allows this button to works, any idea why is that. Thank you!

Awesome I’m gonna give this a go when I buy my xcar link. It’s good it has AUX and USB input
Any luck? I could only get the AUX of XCarLink to work, USB & SD didn't play any music after car audio display says "CDC8-99" (Honda Civic 2007 EX + satnav, with Y-cable)
Thanks Paul, this helped me out a lot mate!
I want to use usb in my Honda Civic 2007. Will this work for me or is only to connect it with my phone?
This particular unit is only for phone
Hi, I followed this step by step and now my car doesn't start, does anyone know why that could be the case?
Same here! Did u reach a solution?
You have shocked the car when banging about, open drivers door and pop off side panel of dash, press black fuel cut off rest button....sorted!
I found out about this 3 days after I installed the AUX cord. But thanks for info! Haha :D
Absolute legend mate, wasn't sure whether this would work with mine but I have the exact same car - gonna try this when it arrives :D
The link is for a 2001 Honda Accord part?
I just get 2£ aux cable with connector from ebay . Can that work as well ?
brilliant m8 was looking to order the part for the last few days couldn't find a thing top man. is the wire long enough I read a few comments and people were saying it was to short
Hi Paul, thank you for the video, been trying to find out a way of adding the AUX port to my car, (not too good with cars)
just wondering though you wanted to have the cable in the arm rest, is the no way to get a longer cable?
I'm just asking because thats where i want mine. cheers in advance

You can just buy a longer Phono to headphone jack cable.
Just done mine this morning.
Happy days....no more cd's.
Mat Brown thanks pal, will do it next week when I have time.
can u do a vid taking out speedometer facia out
As if this guy did pretty much everything with one hand lol!! wow
Hi, after installing the aux at the back of the radio, my car wont start. The crank starts but not the car. All electrics work.
Mikael Sytniowski did u fix it?
It doesn't work on the sedan version of the civic.. I installed this same shitty box in my civic and it doesn't do anything when I push the CD/AUX button, it only plays CDs. But good for you that it works :D
Can you use the steering wheel controls to change spotify songs ?
The aux cable is in the armrest? Just get a 60 quid bluetooth usb that connects via aux (usb and aux available in armrest) and you're good to go... Definitely, don't need a new facia.
CD 1990 the pre 2010 models don't have any aux or tab connections in the armrest, something I noticed buying an o8 ctr after owning a 10plate si
Thanks Paul that's spot on for me.
Really helpful. Great job
