Brenda, you are SuperWoman! Your work with the animals, as well as respect and love them, you brush the horses, sweep their poop, feed and water the animals, work the fields, mow the yard, take care of your kitchen garden to grow your own food and then there is the housework too, cleaning, cooking, laundry, etc... My head spins with all the work you do! I have so much respect and admiration for you!!! Plus you stay looking so young! Must be all the hard work, ha!
Brenda what a pleasure it was to see you performing the numerous tasks you accomplish so well. I am 82 years old and wish I was still as fit and vigorous as you are! I am so aware of the endless tasks on a farm and I love how very loving and generous you are with your family and friends. I am a fan of your presentations but fail to let you know how much I truly enjoy your family adventures, Never change for you are an inspiration to so many in the chaos of the world.
Likewise... as one of these older folks ... I'm thinking I may want to learn to bake an Apple Pie again 🌞 you made it look easy... Thanks for sharing your Farm Life 🥰 LOTS of work but very rewarding too .... I grew up on a farm here in Southern IL ... LONG time ago. ♥️n 🙏🙏 to You n All Your Family
Brenda you are a truly gifted and talented person! I just can't believe all of the chores you do, plus you have raised three children and you worked a job, simply amazing. I actually stumbled across your channel and I instantly got hooked on watching it. I have the utmost respect for you and Jim. And you raised some great kids. Sharing your world with the rest of us is truly a blessing and gift❣️
Brenda and Jim, I am a 81 year old “do nothing” Swede, and it amazes me the talent you two possess in keeping me entertained!!!!!!!! Please enjoy your Labor Day break!!!!
Oh, thank you so much for the apple pie recipe, Brenda! Would you be willing to do a video of your beef stew?????❤❤❤ I really enjoyed this video. I love the caring for the horses videos as well as them working with Jim! Aww heck, I love all of your videos!!!!!!! 😊😊😊
Brenda,. that was a fantastic video. I like to bake and you have answered many questions for me today. Hardworking people like you and Jim deserve a sugar apple treat...often ! I just love the way the chickens respond to you Brenda and its cute that they all have names
Horses in the barn, Cows in the pasture, Chickens in the yard, apples under the tree, cat in the tree, team working in the field, and a fresh baked apple pie in the kitchen! ,,,,,,,it just doesn’t get any more American than this. Great job Brenda, on the whole video, you could host your own cooking segment regularly.
@marionberry6909- Yes, I am 100% for Down Home Americana! We live a 1940s/1950s Norman Rockwell lifestyle. 3rd generation farm family. That was fun hearing the whole clippity clop song for once. 😄 Just so impressed with Baron getting so big and powerful. Working hard along side the others a real addition to the teams. Not forgetting the little "dividend" he's provided. hehe 🤭
Most, almost all, people on social media baking pies, making bread, etc... are clearly just for show. Very cool to your kitchen, yard and cooking. That you've been doing this for years and is just part of your life comes thru. No nonsense reality.
As always, we enjoyed this video!!! You all are so blessed with beautiful grandchildren and those stunning horses that you take such good care of. Your farm is such a nice escape to watch for those of us who either don't have one or aren't close to one! Brenda, I just want to add that your recipe looks and sounds delicious, really enjoyed your cooking segment!! I know you're very busy, but maybe once a month you could share a recipe with us that's dear to your heart? Hope you both have a wonderful week!!!
My late Mom made the best rhubarb and strawberry pies! And stewed rhubarb on vanilla ice cream was another tasty treat! How I miss her! Treasures of your heart for sure..
Brenda, I love your 'easy' way of making a pie! Now I know I don't have to go to so much work rolling, & breaking the crust as I put it on. I love the press method & oil instead of cutting in the butter. It gets eaten & loved, even if it's not perfect. Beautiful pie❤️
This was such a relaxing video for us to watch but I'm sure you both got quite the workout from all those jobs. Brenda, you're just a Boss - and a true sweetheart, sneaking in all those lovely horse snuggles, complete w kisses! And there's always hard-working Jim! What a nice treat he has coming for dessert tonight. Thanks for showing us a smarter way for pie-crusts! And your pie looked delicious. Love your hard work, your farm and your fabulous horses (& chickens too!).
Brenda your apple pie looks so delicious and I know Jim will be happy after his long day of work. Love your way of making the apple pie. I got used to the grandkids with you and do miss them in this video. You and jim take care and God bless you both.
Brenda what an exciting time it was watching you in the kitchen. I am an old farm boy from Missouri and I can remember as a kid watching my mom who was an excellent cook and farmers wife. I grew up learning to cook watching my mother. I know that not a lot of men cook these days but I really enjoy it, I guess because of my mother. I realize the channel is about Jim and all of his fabulous horses and trust me I really enjoy watching that but maybe Jim would agree to let you have a cooking segment on occassion. I for one would enjoy it very much and I am sure others would as well. I would love for you to share some of your favorite recipes with us. You brought back so many good memories of my Mom, Thank you. I love your channel so keep up the good work, I never miss an episode. Art from central Florida. My mom always had rubarb in the garden and always made rubarb pie. Is that something you do as well?
Jim, Brenda, So nice to see you both. Always nice to see horses working in the field, making hay. Brenda, you did some good job making that apple pie!! I so wish i was there to have a piece of that beautiful pie! Trudy & Abby, were so lucky to grow up on that farm!! Have a great day. Jim, Nova Scotia Canada.
What a woman! What a great team this whole farm has. Brenda has set everyone up watered and brushed, readied the manure for Jim to pick up, Jim's got more time to fix a bolt and do his raking, Brenda showed us how she makes her apple pie, and wow! Greetings from Australia.
Hello Brenda from our farm in New Hampshire! Two beautiful sights, you making that pie and Jim in the hay fields. We are so far behind in our 🚜 haying! Looks like a sunny stretch is finally opening up. My guys will be working the fields late into the season. It does my heart good to see all the doings on your working farm and I also follow Abby renovating her house. Nice that house is just down the road a piece. I wish more folks would consider going back to the land, especially multi-generations. There are plenty of us family farmers remaining to show people how to get started, including help from The Farm Bureau and the County Extension Service. A wonderful way of life in these times. We are all 70-something and going strong on our family farm! ~ Diane
I love hearing the contented chirping of the chickens. The pie looks great. I’m going to try that crust and yes many times I don’t make a pie because of the crust. Brenda, by putting the pie in a hot oven is to prevent a soggy bottom crust. Thank you again for sharing. Oh, you can tell how much Ken enjoyed his brushing. You could see it in his face.
Thanks Brenda for showing your method for pie crust made in pan .. never heard of it and sounds great! olive oil and all! Thanks for all the rest also .. I really do enjoy your channel very much ❤
Hi Brenda, I have always struggled rolling out pie crusts, getting in the pie plate without breaking apart. So easy never thought of that, thanks a lot. I so enjoy watching you, Jim and all the big beautiful horses. Thank you both so much. ❤
Brenda...All your grooming on the horses really shows. Their coats are sleek and shiny, and horses loved to be brushed. They each have special areas they enjoy the most. You know you have found it when their upper lip starts twitching! And then you hop in the house to make an apple pie or two.....what a Gal ! God bless... 😊
We make a similar "pie" by just not bothering with the bottom crust and using a double or triple batch of the topping. You just scoop it instead of cutting it and you can make it in any size pan, depending on the amount of apples. We know it as "Apple Brown Betty".
You remind of my mother just good cooking love the way you put it togather raised on a farm had my carrle and my horse what a great life iv had im now 80 years old bring back the good old days if pnly we could????
Back when we grew up on the farm, my mom was renowned for her pie crusts. She's gone now but I once asked how she did it. She gave me a one-word answer; "Lard." She later added no uses lard anymore. She also made the best fried chicken ever. I also her about that. Same answer...lard and cast iron. Of course, back then we always had a five gallon tin of lard in the basement.
Thank you Brenda for sharing an excellent tip of making a pie dough directly in the pie dish. You inspired me to bake a fresh apple pie for our dinner tonight. Your crust recipe turned out beautifully for us. We really enjoy watching the Working Horses with Jim videos - we look forward to many more. Much appreciation for yours & Jim's time and hard work in creating this video series. - Kindly - Angie from Ontario Canada.
Hi Brenda 👋 That pie looked so good and so easy I had to try it. Well, all I can say is that it was the BEST apple pie I've ever made! Hubby loves it too. I will never make it any other way. Thank you so much! 🐴❤

Wonderful video! Thanks Brenda for showing us how to make a "one bowl" pie crust! I'm going to do that instead of rolling it out! I'm a butter person myself too! I love apple crisp myself, but using the oatmeal base.
Brenda I love ❤️ the way you measure for baking cause I do the same. People ask me for my rice pudding recipe but I don’t measure just guessing. The same when I stew tomatoes 🍅 which I will be doing soon but I got my garden in a little late cause of having my knee surgery. I also love ❤️ seeing working the fields you two are a awesome couple. Wouldn’t miss a video. Have a great weekend ❤❤😂. From Ontario Canada 🍁🍁🍁🇨🇦

I can almost smell the pie and applesauce so Jim is a lucky man to have such a good wife and cook. I still wish I lived near you guys now that I am retired I could help Jim with the repairs on the equipment and help him eat those pies. God bless and keep safe from hot rainy Florida from the hurricane that just ran up the Gulf of Mexico.

Labor Day is for people who don't work anyway.
Not for farmers!
To end a productive day working in the fields and walk into a country kitchen where a tasty pie waits must be most special.

Brenda I love ❤️ the way you measure for baking cause I do the same. People ask me for my rice pudding recipe but I don’t measure just guessing. Mimm! Yumy Brinda, wow-ie You an Abby Shure know how to do it! At around 2000 Miles my arm is-sent long enough, so your Pie is safe enough on the Windowsills today! Have a wonderful day and enjoy the Fruits of you Labor.
What an amazing life ❤
Thanks Brenda for sharing. It was very interesting.
I love apple pie!! My mom would make me apple pie on my birthday instead of a cake. She's been gone quite a while. And I do miss her apple pies..😢
Jim, you are blessed!
Copied recipe , love the Pyrex bowl.
