    ah, the sturdy mount cannon with high yield x effect. or as i call it, the corvette killer. nothing quite like turning a vette's insides into mush in a few hits, highly recommended.

      Fig Jam pair those cannons with a couple incindiary frags and you'll get those pesky shields down in seconds. Then you can put in work with those cannons. I've sent many a big ship cmdr to the rebuy with this combo. If you have an extra hardpoint throw a corrosive frag on for a debuff and watch how much more damage your cannons do.

    Another quality helpful video.
    My instincts told me to use my empty slots to load out my Type-9 with module reinforcements.
    I have a standard Type-9, 640 tonne cargo space truck that is able to sustain some serious aggressive attacks from NPC's. It's not bullet proof but my modules never fail and I can still use every button up to the point of Implosion and I'm eating space dust.
    I find this important, especially as transportation has become "Easy" according to those who don't space truck for a living.
    Since these stupid unfair changes to the haulage system has taken effect, I'm now using hull tanks and singular jobs that are meant for wings to make ends meet. In effect, it's now taking me hours just to earn 5 million where as before any changes, that's the 4 years before the changes, I could earn 5 million from just a single trip, yes, I moaned at that figure because of the incredible fire power I was coming under every trip.., nothings changed, it's still a Gauntlet without the pay because apparently trucking isn't dangerous.
    I now lose a ship about 3 times a 10 hour session on average because it's cheaper to rebuy than rebuild and that's using hull tanks.
    This video showed me I was doing the right thing with my ship tank builds.
    There's an argument to find a quieter trade route, well yes but then the money is even worse, so in the end, it balances itself out.
    At the end of the day, in Elite and in real life, truckers are not respected for the importance they truly deserve because without truckers, NO economy can run in any manner of effectiveness.
    At very least, the Devs need to put the transportation side of things back to where they were before any of the changes came into play. It was crap pay but just enough to deal with but now, most of the jobs don't cover ship maintenance. I've now got photographic and video proof.
    My veteran, 100 strong wing that hung up their wings before Christmas are not returning. I've been forced to shut my wing down. This is also how I know that there is NO real economy in Elite. So much for the living breathing economy Frontier says exists in Elite. Liars.
    Even my personal friends who I truck with are not coming back to Elite because Frontier will not listen to us or give us a moment to have our say. My friends and I have been loyal to Elite for over 36yrs and we all feel betrayed.
    I've only just thought Mr. Astro, (Mr. Down to Earth Astronomy), since this seriously unnecessary transportation nurf, I've not seen any Good, Silver, Palladium of Platinum runs at all.., I think I might take a ride later to investigate my little Gold mine I found a couple of years ago before any changes happened. Yes, I had a little Gold mine of a station with some very nice mineral runs until they nurffed transportation. I might go and investigate because I've not seen mineral runs since the nurf.
    Your mining video is helping but, It's going to take a while before I can purchase another ship and build a mining ship. This haulage job I love is not giving me any meaningful rewards at all because I'm constantly rebuying my ships,.. I hope the Devs sort this out because him getting bored of this crap and I'm looking at Star citizen, Eve and Dual as alternatives to Elite. This is a big deal because I'm an Elite child. I grew up with Elite.
    I'm going to experiment and just do the Colonia run with Data because I can fill my Imperial Eagle with data and spend 5 hours going to Colonia for about 30 million credits without getting interdicted. Hopefully fill up at Colonia with data and return to the bubble for another 30 million only I'll have to do the data run.
    I think this is what players don't understand: there isn't any danger with data runs but there's no money in data runs. The idea of the data is to take what you can with actual cargo in the cargo bay as a little extra topping, if you like.
    I've never been attacked doing the data run but as soon as I put any meaningful cargo on board my ship, that's when the Gauntlet begins. Not every cargo is dangerous, for example, I filled my ship up with Landfill stuff and I got interdicted but the Pirate wasn't interested and left me alone with just a 98% hull, after he had finished with his warning shots taking down my Shield. It all adds to the maintenance bill though.
    I don't think a lot of players understand just how dangerous deep core, meaningful, money making transportation really is.
    I think there's confusion amongst players who don't understand transportation like I do. But then, I've been a space trucker for 36yrs.
    It's truly unfair and unfortunate that dedicated combat players used something they don't understand to compare against to manipulate their money gain in combat.
    Transportation is actually a victim of other selfish players not understanding this real deep core role of space trucking. I know not everybody has the same experience and even I have jumped into a quiet zone and thought how nice this area is but then you soon realise why, there's no dangerous cargo to transport.
    I know trade routes that are just plain suicide Gauntlet missions, they're the places to earn the big money but even they are affected by this stupid change. Still a suicide run but without the reward.
    Transportation did not need to be touched, especially the way it has been changed. As I said earlier, my haulage wing has gone over Christmas, they're not coming back unless Frontier, at very least, put transportation back to what it was before the changes began 3 months ago.
    I find combat easy but then, I don't know the places to go to find where the real dangers are in combat. My Corvette makes 'second' steaks out of most Anacondas, Clippers and other vetts but then my Battle unengineered vett is just a 7 gun, multiple shield prismatic shielded, multiple hull and module protected tank. Other players destroy my Vette because they use engineering to beat me but in a fair fight, pilot skills are needed to kill my Vette.
    So my argument, you have to know what your doing in your chosen Elite path to truly make a game changing comparison. As I wrote, courier work is a victim of dedicated combat players who don't know enough to say and argue that space trucking is easy and not dangerous. But that didn't make a difference, you combat players needed a scape goat and you found 1 in haulage.
    Its because of your selfishness and desire to win an argument with the devs that has destroyed the space truck industry in Elite that I've done for over 36yrs and know inside out.
    This action by the Devs tells me that Elite is heading to become an all out combat game platform. I think Odyssey is just the beginning of Call of Duty in space. Goodbye family oriented Elite. Forced welcome to the violent Elite.
    Is my Elite gaming coming to an end? I'm certainly not part of the Frontier family anymore. I'm starting to regret my 36yr long loyalty to 1 game as my friends have all ready realized, loyalty means Nothing to Frontier like it did once. If Frontier listened to us, you'd be walking round your ships and making your own settlement on your chosen planet. There would not be any humanoid combat, violent gaming content. Elite has always been a family educational space life simulator.
    Time to seek new space life avenues.
    This video is part of this comment because it backs the kind of ship build NOW NEEDED to become a space deep core trucker. Only true dedicated veteran players will understand what I've written but then, they've already left Elite after 36yrs of loyalty to Elite. They, like me, just wanted to be heard by Frontier. We were ignored.

    I've always liked and use Multi-cannons as they are Kinetic and don't use too much power draw as well but now Cannons are the way to go as a secondary weapon, great tutorial again on explaining armour plating

    This would be much more fun if cannons didn't feel like pea shooters. You pull the trigger and there is almost no sound and they make a tiny little *poof* on the enemy ship. As opposed to, say, MC's that sound bad ass and literally light the enemy ship up with effects while turning their hull into swiss cheese. I want to love the canon, but man is it the most underwhelming weapon in the game. (I'm not saying the big hits, when they happen, aren't satisfying. I'm simply saying there is more RNG involved and the visual/sound effects are lack luster.)

    Trajectory of impact rating for damage would factor in pilot flight capability a bit more, would be pretty cool but also would tilt the balance a bit for players and would be risky. Great info as usual. I been trying to figure out the top 3 military armor types I keep seeing like a mirrored hull look and I have been trying to figure out how that visual is factored in.

    I noticed a while ago that cannons were super good at popping power plants and fsds. I noticed they would pretty much instantly start dropping the health of the internals when I would have to get better positioning and beat the ship down a bit with other weapons. Now I know why lol

    Yeah, I think Sturdy Cannons are best for small/medium hard points, having a small ship still do its full damage to a large ship.

    With the desired effect being that the 30% module is hit first, & the 60% last.. Can I intentionally stack a 30% on top of a 60% module reinforcement?
    How does the game decided which module reinforcement is damaged first, if you have two or more of them?

      +Christopher T regarding goid tanking there is really only one think that matters: hit points and lots of it. As far as I know resistance have no effect on thargoid weapons.

    Great video and well presented. It just illustrates why I hate the new hull tank meta. It makes the ships even slower, less manouverable, lower jump range, contantly needing repairs and ridiculous damage on modules. Which means using module reinforcements, which adds more weight, making it even slower, less manouverable, lower jump range. All (for me at least) take away the fun of combat.

      I think I see your point, but I'd argue that it makes it more interesting. When shield tanking was the meta the huge ships weren't really that clunky. Now, that they are properly slow and awkward, small mobile ships gets more a fair chance to shine. I havn't played in a while, so I can be completely wrong, but that's how it seems to me. :)

      +Francois Nader multi cannons are better all-round weapons. Bit if you are planning to hunt bigger ship I would go for cannons.

    So....when I shoot the enemy powerplant and it stays at 99% after a few hits, it's because their module reinforcements are still up?
    I used to think that they had an armored power plant and they were just super beefy and i would give up when i saw this happen haha.

    How is this affected by using different Armour types such as military grade etc?

      The hull strength is like total hit points. Resistance matters too. There's no free lunch, except for heavy duty /deep plating of the stock bulkhead armor, since it has no innate mass and therefore none will be added by the modification. Reactive armor has only 1 weakness instead of 2 so it is the best choice, usually, because it is easiest to patch over with hull reinforcement. Except with absolute damage, or the caustic effect of thargoids, then you want the most hp possible.

      Blame the people who complained about repair costs when it was released. To fix this, FDev seperated the repair options for those who care about their hull integrity and those who don't XD
