I really hope they do something with Doctor Who in the UK Park
Idk if I could possibly be more hype than I am, now!
You're right about HHN - whilst we loved it, it definitely was a loooong conga line. And the last house we did last year had me cracking up - 5 mid-teen girls linked together. Shuffle quickly to section. Scream (in unison). Jump to one side (in unison). Shuffle to next scare, rinse, repeat. It was hilarious.
I quite like that about it, means I get to go through the mazes without stress!
I am really excited by the prospect of Universal UK. It has always been a dream to go to America and do all the parks but with the cost of living it just hasn't been possible. But with DLP across the water and a UK Universal park this would be great for us in Europe who can't quite afford/ not willing to shell out the big expense of going to the US
It'll be so good if it all happens, I hope they find a way to make it affordable too
I wouldn’t expect any Universal park to be cheap. It will be considerably more than any other UK park. But at least some people won’t have to shell out on expensive flights/accommodation.
10 year construction plan seems too long, no? Epic Universe will have taken five years and that was with pandemic delays.
(Though they did have a bit of a 'jump start' as the land had been prepped by 2019, and the UK site will likely need more infrastructure.)
I think they said they expect it to open in 2030 - so that's only five years assuming construction starts next year.
They have said that there will be phases though, so I assume the park will open in 2030 then perhaps they will work on things like a park expansion and extra hotels into the next five years
This sounds great and It’ll really positive for the UK (God knows it needs it) and great for other fans of theme parks. I have a place in Spain near the site for their last potential project that was dropped so I’m not 100% convinced this will happen but I hope it does.
There is too many reasons for this to happen, think about the velocity of money aswell. It's just surprising that the them park on the marshland east of London seems to have gone completely silent when it would benefit in many similar ways, maybe you could shine some light on this? Thanks for the update, subscribed :)
The London Resort just put that land up for sale, I think that was always an investment scam, I don't think they ever thought they would build anything
This channel is super informative. Can't wait to hear more updates! 😊
I hopw it goes ahead so we can continue to see update videos, there's so much potential here, it would be madness for them to either decide not to build one or it get blocked and plans not approved by the government, juat look at the parks in orlando and everywhere else, how popular they are, we NEED something like that here desperately. I'm from Hull, East Yorkshire and would absolutely love to travel there for a universal studios weekend, it would be amazing. A uk hhn would be great too, make it unique to our park.
They should have done a weather analysis first ... do they not know most of our summer days are a wash out ?
Haunting of verdansk poster behind 👀 what a time!
Thank you for keeping us in the loop. Roll-on the big announcement! And may it be 'we're going ahead!'. So exciting!
It really is, I love doing all these updates! Thanks for watching!
I very much doubt there a full planning permission document have been submitted. For a project this size that would be thousands of pages long as least. The Lower Thames Tideway scheme is 350,000 pages long.
Through some smaller planning permission for demolition of buildings and creation of new access points, may be.
The "no doubles" thing I believe came from a seemingly reliable insider, who claimed that USGB would have no ride copies from the Orlando parks to prevent hurting tourism from Britain. I wonder if that concept is still standing, or if they want to make something completely new for stuff like Nintendo.
I would be shocked, and it's very easy for anyone to claim to be a 'reliable insider'
@@UniversalUKNews There were a lot of different people backing the rumored rule up it seems, it makes sense from a business standpoint. You could add in stuff like the Jurassic World ride from Beijing since that's very inaccessible to both Europe and America, but then avoid attractions from Orlando so that both demographics still want to visit the other's park.
Are you going to cover this for the next 5 years? If so that's commitment man 🎉😊
The plan is just to keep going until people don't watch anymore! Should probably try and get monetisation on the site at some point.
If Universal want to keep things under wraps, they can try and get permitted development rights, allowing them to do what they want in that virtual box. This is what Drayton Manor has, so don't need planning permission for individual rides.
Yeah I know it's different in the US but I think we didn't know what the Epic Universe rides would be until we actually saw them being built
USGB will only be 2 hours from me, cant wait. I would love to see a Dungeons and Dragons ride made, like the 80's cartoon! what do you think?
Perhaps a Roku arm system like Harry's Forbidden Journey would work well?
Hah that would be awesome, with the weird little dungeon master
Should be good for the uk theme park industry. Will give some healthy compitition with Merlin. Universal Would be the 2nd largest theme park company in the UK.
From the visitor numbers they're talking about they would be way bigger than Merlin, this one park is meant to have more guests than Alton, Chessington and Thorpe combined
@@UniversalUKNews impressive, based on a quick research I would expect 20-40k based on other universal parks. I believe an average weekend may have 10k and weekday 5k for individual Merlin parks. Which would match your statement say a merlin park is 1/3 guests as universal.
But universal will have a higher capacity and will only be one park. Merlin had a decent selection including Legoland, and many other attractions around the UK.
Individual UK Merlin parks may not beat universal but the full selection is very much comparable.
Merlin is currently the second largest theme park company in the world, 1st being Disney. Universal is 4th. Authough is it's possible Opening Universal Studios UK may move them up a few ranks.
Merlin is also on their home terf, they have many parks & attractions worldwide but their strongest selection is in the UK.
2nd largest in the UK with just one park and a close 2nd at that would still be very impressive.
That's my assessment, I could be wrong but it's hard to say at this stage.
hopefully the government won't drop their support
Why would they though? It could be a huge money maker
I can’t see any government dropping this?
They did for the other massive paramount theme park that was planned, and got turned down for environmental issues because of the possible animals living in the swamp on the land it would haved built on 🙄 British beaurocracy is a joke
I doubt it. This is a easy win for the next government. As long as no jumping spiders are found, it should go through planning rather quickly I suspect. The government will obviously have to find at least a couple of billion pounds infrastructure, which might be tricky.
I just hope the government doesn't regulate the living shit out of it
Sky would’ve known about it as their parent company is Comcast. The same company that owns universal.
I am so excited at the prospect of a uniquely European version of HHN, culturally distinguishing itself from the American parks.
Yeah it'd been interesting. In USJ this year they have a Chainsaw man one which I think is the first anime maze, and they usually have Resident Evil
Jack the Ripper maze incoming.
@@happymaskedguy1943that would be good my vote would be for Dracula since Whitby is such an inspiration for the story
A house where you go through the wrecked Demeter and then the foggy gaslit streets of Whitby, following Dracula’s bloody trail, possibly with Van Helsing? Hell yeah.
Tower of London, ‘The Blitz’ (a kind of horror alternate survival horror) Loch Ness Massacre, (S)laughter House, something to do with the Brickworks(?)
Oh man, I could come up with these all day 😂
@@happymaskedguy1943 the legend of the lost roman legion.
A Great Plague house themed around the plague doctors, in that beaked mask.
A witch finder general house...
That's so much British history & legends you can call on.
I've heard Harry Potter may not happen due to exclusivity deals at the Harry Potter studio tour
I doubt it, the Japan park has Harry Potter even though there is a making of Harry Potter in Tokyo
@@anthalliday8208 yes but apparently the exclusivity deal means a new HP attraction has to be X amount of miles away. Tokyo and Osaka are plenty far enough. Universal UK and the HP tour are relatively nearby
That would be a ridiculous miss of opportunity. The UK is home to harry potter, and having the Wizarding world could futher make it the hub of harry potter attractions in Europe. Millions of potter fans will pour into the UK for the true HP experience. I hope they not only include the Wizarding world, but making it the biggest one, or at least on par with Orlando. The UK gov should step in and make a national cultural and tourism strategy.
@@isunlloaoll that may be the case but if there is a contractual issue in using the IP there's not much they can do, unless they come to a deal with Warner Bros. They have plenty of other IP to use and the UK has its fair share of HP shit anyway
Universal would just pay to licence it from WB. It's a win for WB too since guests coming to Universal for Potter are likely to consider going to the studio tour too
no one thinks of two big problems for this park:
1. the weather, very cold and rainy (maximum annual temperature 21°C
2. To visit it, every foreigner needs a passport.
I think that's why they haven't made a decision yet... let's not forget Portaventura
I think everyone thinks of the first problem! They even mentioned it in the documents, they can just focus on indoor rides and attractions. They did say that the Beijing and Tokyo parks also have issues with rain and they worked around it.
Foreigners needing passports isn't a huge barrier, London has a colossal number of tourists every year, far more than the park needs to attract. They all need passports too
Do you think we will get a Wizarding World? given how close the Harry Potter studio tour is to Bedford?
Yeah I think it would be great for the studio tour, lots of new international guests into harry potter would want to do both. Especially when they're so close
No Harry Potter in US GB - iirc, Warner Brothers have the exclusive rights for the UK, I think that Warners would be concerned about a HP land leeching off their Studio Tour.
They'll just licence it out. Imagine how many international visitors would be interested in the Studio Tour alongside going to Universal, who wouldn't otherwise bother. It'd be huge for them
@@UniversalUKNews lol why would they licence it out and lose footfall for their own attraction
Rumour has it USGB won't have Harry Potter
Source?
I hope so
@@Mark.Ritchie I remember reading someone saying this - suggesting that HP UK rights are exclusive to WB Studio Tour for quite a few more years so would need deal negotiations as only route.
@@adamskyj69 that is indeed what I have read - in several places. I think that WB have the exclusive rights for a good few years to come.
The Sky bit did get a little bit of the Southern parcel on camera, so they didn't miss it completely :P.
Cool video 👍👍🙂
Thanks!
The decision might happen in July
I’m 53 and looking forward to this and going when it’s opens I hope we get a Nintendo world
Maybe we’ll get a Zelda themed land in our Nintendo World? Pokemon also seems likely.
Any of those would be great. I think the Pokemon rights are super weird because it's not all down to Nintendo, but they did have a Pokemon parade and have a food cart in USJ!
Would love to see a Sega land at the UK park, Sonic would make an awesome roller coaster (that isn't spinball wizzer)
There was sega world which was in the trocodero in Leicester Square London many years ago that was absolutely brilliant
Love these videos, I am extremely excited 😆
Amazing 😂can't wait
be cooler for game world they go with uk dev games:
rockstar north - gta might be too mature
team 17 - worms, lemmings etc
crytek uk/free radical - wont happen but timesplitters 2 : the ride
media molecule littlebigplanet would prob make for a good themed land tbh
etc etc
Don't forget Fable from Lionhead (RIP)/Playground games!
This feels like such a fever dream and I don’t want to wake up 🤩
Same, feels too good to be true
Opened a video randomly and ended up seeing GP talking about a new theme park? This feels weird
Shh it's my alter ego
waited for you to make a video, rather than watching sky
I just hope our new government dont squander this chance. I hope they can find some spare change down the back of the sofa to support this, to get real jobs and a whole economy around it. This going to be worth evety penny. Better than the billions they waste on other things. And I hope they have a quet word in the ear of the local planning department on the lines....Dont eff this up!
I don't think this will cost the government a lot of money, other than perhaps improving the transport infrastructure, but I assume Universal would be paying for at least some of that.
Not Lord of the Rings area and Fast and Furious
Id be annoyed actually if we got the same Nintendo world and the same hogsmeade. Been done 68866 times now weve all seen and done it
I hope we get a Shrek attraction and a Jurassic Park attraction for this park.
Shrek would be an interesting one, I wonder how many people are still into Shrek now. They have a great dark ride at the IMG park in Dubai
@@UniversalUKNews considering that the 2020s are the decade for 2000s nostalgia I’d say a lot of people are into Shrek nowadays. Not to mention the recent news of Shrek five being announced.
@@UniversalUKNewsthey *have* been working on that Shrek 5 movie for ages now, I could see it becoming part of some kids area.
Construction better not take 10 years 😂😂😂😂
I think Sky news belongs to Comcast .
yep
Unfortunately I don’t think it will happen
How come?
Wint be as good as Orlando rides wint be the same ,weather in UK crap I'll rather go Orlando
Not going to happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why not?
@@UniversalUKNews because it’s just one big Ponzi scheme…. You have Orlando, California, china , Tokyo theme parks then Bedford… give it a rest.. keep having your click bates ..
@@brianmonkey1697 What's wrong building it in Bedford? If they deemed it the best location they could find to build their first European theme park in Bedford, then that's major. Universal already brought the land and slowly wrapping up their survey/feasibility studies, they won't do all of that for nothing.
@@gunnyo50 HOUSING ESTATE….
