  • In our last video on this topic, we covered why biological factors (such as ear damage or migraines) are only one part of why you're experiencing chronic dizziness. Today we dive deeper into the neurochemical, psychological, social and emotional factors that are making your dizziness worse. We start to cover some ways to address those issues.

    I love you! You popped up in my suggested videos today bc I’ve been using TH-cam for vrt and I’m so glad I clicked on your videos. Dr. Arthur, I just want to say that I really appreciate your videos and that you truly seem to be a patient advocate. I’m a 51 year old firefighter paramedic dealing with MdDS (from what I’ve researched). I don’t see a whole lot of other doctors willing to put this information AND HOPE out there for people to use. I use your tips and exercises and was going to dive in head first into your program, but I’m waiting to see the neurologist because my primary doc says my MRI came back showing “mild contusion of frontal lobes.” My head situation is long and complicated, but I think it’s a combo of biological, psychological, and lifestyle. Hello, this is Stefanie from Germany. I find your new channel helpful!!!
    This disease ruined my life! Nobody helps in Germany!
    The VRT exercises are not difficult for me - but my everyday life does not work at all.
    My static balance is good, but my dynamic balance not. Walking around corners and curves, turning, bending over, quick movements, quick changes of direction: for example tidying up or cleaning (left, right, up, down, bending over and again and again) - I completely lose my orientation and balance and feel terrible! Or shaking my head in conversations (no no, yes yes), awful.
    I've been training this for a year and don't know what to do anymore?!
    What would you recommend? Thank you so much for your help!

    • @TheSteadyCoach
      @TheSteadyCoach  2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Hi Stefanie! I have been hearing from many people in Europe and the UK who are having trouble getting help with their chronic dizziness. Your symptoms are very familiar - in fact some of my patients can do yoga/balance postures fine, but when they move around, they feel terrible. The issue is not so much that the balance system is not working, it's that the brain isn't responding correctly to the information it's getting. The trick is finding exercises that DO make you feel dizzy (like nodding yes, shaking head no) and then controlling the symptoms that you bring up. That is how we teach the brain to respond differently to them. If the exercises are easy, then we are not teaching the brain a new response. I have the video - "Stop your dizziness by changing your brain pt 1" that explains how to do that using triggers. Give that a look and see if that makes sense?

    I’m not sure if I should try VRT or not. My question is do you have to do vrt to get better? I have never tried it, so I feel like I should do it… but when I do it.. I only think more about the dizziness and do it to get rid of the dizziness.. so I feel like it’s going against the whole concept of healing. If the recommendation is to do vrt, for how long do I do it for before seeing results or knowing “ ok this isn’t working move on” ?

Despite it being there I am managing my daily activities. The floating sensation becomes worse as day progresses . I don't notice it when I am engaged like driving , watching a movie, being with friends .pls suggest weather I should start the VRT exercises and other regular exercises.

      Hi Debbie, you have been through so much. It is not fair and I am so sorry you are suffering like this. With all you are suffering, my absolute best recommendation would be to consider working with a therapist who specializes in psychophysiological disorders. The dizziness in your case is very likely coming from the same place as the anxiety, depression, panic attacks and fibro- your central nervous system.There is a directory here at ppdassociation.org. I also have a ton of information in my free course about how to get started in dealing with the dizziness itself in a systematic way, and I have lots of counseling resources listed there as well. members.thesteadycoach.com
