I apologize for the essay. Dark academia is the aesthetic I go by, and it is very fitting for my personality. It is decently affordable (broke college kid with three jobs living in the US) because no one really wears wool or tweed anymore, so demand is low. The clothing is comfortable and versatile, and I am never cold with the addition of always looking prepared to draft a declaration by candlelight. Since so many layers are incorporated, you actually don't need as many clothing items because you can wear multiple different outfit combinations. Honestly, the biggest downside is most of your clothing will be dry-clean only. I also think the biggest benefit is you can look approachable and warm, while also being mysterious, introspecting, prudent, and scholarly. In comparison, I think many find other styles, such as "old money" a bit too self-indulgent and prudish rather than prudent. Not to say this is inherent in other aesthetics, just that is culturally what we believe. Take Daniel Radcliffe or anyone in Dead Poet Society, people love these characters. Now to juxtapose that with the idea of old money, which is a hot topic in media because of the issues many have with generational wealth. It also tends to be a little colder and uniform, which can make someone intimidating to the point of being unapproachable. Personality can absolutely counteract this, however unfortunately people tend to judge members of their species faster than they stop and try to understand. This makes it difficult to not be seen as arrogant and judgmental. But at the end of the day, you know who you are, you know what you stand for. So whatever aesthetic makes you feel uniquely yourself, that's what you should do. Most try to be a carbon copy of others' style; however, I suggest taking what you like and making it fit who you feel like you are.

the draw of these styles is that they're outfits unlike anyone else around you. wearing starboy or old money when simply walking on the street is beyond attractive. you're assigning these styles to specific events is constraining them to standard expectation. wearing specific styles in unexpected places is what makes you stand out, and what stands out is attractive.
Well, I'm very sad for the guys as it was the way I dressed in college and during my university years as I didn't knew how to dress nor about my taste in fashion. When we are young, we tend to need quality clothes and basic items to combine into different looks, we might also experiment with various fits and models, colors... Try on different sports with their own styles as well as getting into new scenes. I would suggest not to go too much on these looks and not to have them overdone with a matching bedroom decor. What is really trending, in my opinion, is eco-concious fashion : second hand clothes are perfect for that. We can also look for fair trade brands for our basics. Supporting the workers and local brands instead of fast fashion fads and cheap ripoffs will pay off in the long run. Getting a garment repaired with a new zipper might support a local seamstress. We can explore by dressing some items down or with a more formal look, as well as mixing more recent clothes with vintage or classic ones. Each ethnicity and states have their own fashion history they can relate to. It's the slow architectural evolution that's going on, not just the interior design flashy decors and aesthetics. As the youth, we tend to want to increase our participation to society, as well as to find valuable friendships and relations. The more important is not to impover ourselves by making spontaneous unplanned purchases and to have some money pilled for quick finds that bring us joy and caracterise our personnalities. Leather and wool shouldn't be trending as they are just animal exploitation, which is just very uncool.
I dress however I want and keep my hair shoulder length I care enough to comment this, but no further than that Do your thing lads, don’t bother chasing trends
