Old Workstations/Servers are a great base for a gaming rig, because they tend to feature beefy PSUs and high quality casings. Heck, if the ones shown in this video have got multiple processor sockets, they probably could still handle todays games well.
@@provisionalhypothesis yeah, that'd almost certainly be the bottle-neck for those systems. Odds are you simply install a decent GPU and you're good to go. For the workstations/servers featured there, you'd have to pick one with at least 2 CPU-sockets to enjoy modern games. They're older than a decade after all. A single quadcore at 3.2-3.7 GHz won't make the cut anymore. Two of them may perform on par with a good LGA1151-V2 CPU which is still enough for modern games.

If it’s the one I’m assuming, it was built in the early 70s (generator 1 & 2) and early to mid 80s (generator 3 & 4). The four generators had a combined power output of 2,23 GWh and it was one of the largest of its operating company. It was closed in 2017.
7:15 - That is an old Fujitsu CELSIUS workstation. 7:33 - These are Fujitsu PRIMERGY TX series servers. I think that these are Intel Xeons based on 45nm Nehalem microarchitecture, based on the Intel sticker in the casing.
Carefull with those generator rooms(around 1.50 mark). Some use hydrogen for insulation. If the inner door shows explosive danger icons, it may be due to risk of hydrogen buildup
The power plant has been shut down for 6 years. No matter how much hydrogen it once had, it has completely evaporated. Maximum closed pressure vessels could hold it.

ur videos are like a holiday every time. Wish we could live in a world where we could watch a new video every day :D
2:17 I dunno junk about dump but you can have holes like that in a faraday cage and the cage will still work as long as the frequencies of energies youre trying to keep out are larger than the hole diameter. They'll still pass through but only a centimeter or two. Could be something like that maybe
I love the dynamic of you and Matt together, you complement each other very well
"Don't spin the blade." "Don't push those buttons." Every adventure has to have a Pippin.
Shiey is so respectful of things always closes doors and puts things back. This other guy touchy touchy touchy ohhh is that a switch lets press it!
Damn that's one of the best preserved facilities you've managed to find. Keep 'em coming!
" So we need to stay quiet, stay low-key'" and at the same time Shiey's buddy making a call and action like a clown 😄
At 4:12 you can see the infamous "BBC Generator".
When he said "this is where they grow the workers".Serious SCP vibes. And the whole aesthetic is really Backrooms-like. Damn, shiey is an irl backrooms explorer.
Imagine getting this type of content for free we are all very lucky to have discovered shiey

I appreciate that you are so cautious not to touch stuff that could be dangerous to you or damage anything. You're alright, mate.
"this is where they keep all the spare asbestos" lmaoo
My First thought was "omg, are those two not afraid of getting exposed to radiation?", my second was "ok, its German. They definetely won't."
Cheers Guys, Shiey, I appreciate your Work. Thank you so much for Sharing all of this!
I wonder whether this is one of those German coal power plants which may be reactivated in case the energy crisis gets more intense.
Thanks for making my day Shiey!
2:09 the material on the wall is to absorb sound to make it quiter on the outside of it.
The best notifications ever.
Thank you!
I'm glad to see Shiey having an interest in computer hardware
thanks for the upload as always, stay safe out there man
The computer at 3:15 is actually a DEC3000 workstation. A pretty expensive workstation from the early 90s.
shiey is trying so hard to keep his friend from messing with all the abandoned equipment lol
His friend said "we hit the motherload" Maybe he's gonna come back for some of it.
Man, the jumping from pipe to pipe and around the ladders was some old school Half Life shit… Gordon Shiey 😂
Hello! Thanks for making these videos, very interesting and cool to watch
Seems I end up playing less video games and watching more of this for "escape". This guy is doing what we really want to do.
Welcome to germany! If you visit me in Idar-Oberstein, i show you the "Felsenkirche"... a church thats build into a mountain. Often think of you when i drive by and imagine you climbing it! 😃
7:53 Connecting computers and/or just hard-drives like that are what make up a Server.
I'm almost 100% certain that you guys where in their server-room [and I'm sure others can/will confirm]
Nice to see u exploring stuff in germany :)
I'm assisted by WV explorers under Germany Valley.

Oh man this is crazy good ! 🚀🌌🤘🏻 Badass absolutely badass guys thank you, Shiey 🙏🏻
2 videos at once?!? This is glorious
i'm guessing it was on accident watch it before it get privated
I’ll never forget the underground bunker with many doors and you almost getting lost- changed my perspective on these lol
this is in my neighbourhood :o i can see this chimneys out of my windows.
drove by there yesterday.
I used to work at a power plant years ago and I’m pretty sure the vibrometer was used for measuring the vibrations on rotating machinery bearings. Doing that was one of my jobs at the power plant.
Yes; they were used to indicate when service was required on turbine bearings. Now they have laser doppler vibrometers that measure much more accurately. (I was a water treatment chemist at a power plant.)
I fear that one day you might actually find the backrooms man 😄
I like Shiey's "leave no trace" policy whereas this other dude would accidentally launch a missile if he stumbled into the wrong place.
Another day that we know that Shiey is alive
I had a private nocturnal tour of the old Phillips Cables site here in Brockville ON. Abandoned steam plant and production facilities were creepy at night with flashlight. Very cool experience and memory as a school is currently being constructed on the site with planned subdivision.
This is a power plant in Voerde (Germany) which was shut down in 2017
why to shut down a power plant? Weird. To prepare for blackouts?
@@ChandChandramukhito comply with "green" energy plans.
The "brains" part there at 6:53 or so is an old phone system. All those wires on the left branch out to telephone jacks throughout the building.
this shows the fucked up politics of germany very well
"Please don't spin those blades" LOL.. you know shit's not right when the dude who does all the crazy risky things is the cautious one
The intro was hilarious. Shiey explaining eveything and dude's just on the phone in the background.
Was just thinking about you boo boo. Glad to see you're still kicking, brother.
That was soo cool man, thanks Shiey!! 💜
Just discovered Matt through the algo recently. Dope you two are working together. Excited for more content!
Shiey- "It is guarded, so we gotta stay quiet, we gotta stay lowkey"
Matt- picks up phone to see if it still works.
