Cruise to Greenland aboard icebreaker Kapitan Khlebnikov

  • This video, which describes a trip taken in August 2016 to Greenland, differs from my usual videos in that it was taken on a Russian icebreaker instead of in Venture. But even an icebreaker has much in common with smaller vessels which take to the high seas and there are features on Flemings which owe their origins to features spotted on larger ships.

    Tony, ypur voice your narration, cadence, the tonality, te words and phrases you choose to articulate about what you witness what you feel is profoundly calming and mesmerising. I would *”VENTURE”* to posit that your narration does not need this loud music. If at all, the music should be low volume. To me, This music actually eclipses the beauty of your voice. I wish I could listen to you with only natural sounds as the background. Thats just me though because it is not possible to please everyone(heaps of people will love the music in background).

    • @FlemingYachts
      @FlemingYachts  29 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you very much for your kind comments re narration. I tend to agree with you re loud music and I think you will find that recent videos made in 2022 and 2023 have quieter music tracks, However it is not so simple when it comes to "natural" sound. Firstly, it is vey hard to get because of all the interruptions from extraneous noises - such as engines, pumps, voices, pumps starting, wind, passing aircraft etc etc. Most professional films have people working under the heading of "Foley" who make phoney "natural" sound. If they get real natural sound it usually requires very expensive, sophisticated and bulky equipment. Also, music plays a very important role in creating mood. There can be a huge difference after music has been added. Having no sound sounds wrong - even when showing maps. There has to be ambient sound even then. Also, I have learned that the equipment on which viewers watch the videos makes a huge difference. Some systems seem to deliberately boost the music over the narration. Creating the audio actually takes more time than editing the video.

    Incredibly fascinating, educational, almost surreal in places! Thank you Tony Fleming for this film showing us wondrous Planet Greenland, in its Icy splendour! I've seen these brown mountains & glaciers, fjords, tiny broken "peppermint icebergs" from 35K feet, enroute back to Vancouver; felt very humbled & grateful. Now to find part 2! We must not lose these immense Icefields so crucial to the Health of our Earth & oceans! Bye for now, Stay Well. Joan @joan_rollins /twtr.

So I can relate to the cold. However once the problem was remedied. I was warm in no time. My first action was to turn my computer on, with shaking fingers mind you, and accessed your channel.
