- After nearly four decades of service in the U.S. Navy, the decommissioned USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67) called on the Port of Brownsville on Sunday, February 2, 2025, for dismantling at International Shipbreaking Ltd./EMR Brownsville, one of the nation’s premier ship recycling facilities.
We honor her legacy as she arrives at International Shipbreaking Ltd., one of the nation’s premier ship recycling facilities.
The Port of Brownsville has earned the respected reputation of being the final berthing place for U.S. Navy aircraft carriers and other retired warships. Since 2014, the port has seen the arrival of six aircraft carriers for recycling. The USS Forrestal, USS Constellation, USS Saratoga, USS Ranger, USS Independence, and USS Kitty Hawk are part of the exclusive and growing family of aircraft carriers that have made their final voyage to the Port of Brownsville.
