    New bike day … bought KICKR bike V2 😊. Wasted a lot of setup time by not first levelling the KICKR to 0% grade before transferring my road bikefit to it. Silly me … only realised my error when I ran out of saddle height adjustment. Out of the box, the KICKR was at about -2% grade 😱 which threw everything out

    As diligent and informative as ever! Have to say it looks like a superb design. Robust, intuitive and incredibly versatile. Having the seat post and top tube (stand-over) heights independently adjustable is something that neither the Watt Bike Atom, Tacx Neo, nor Virtu Pro bike has. Not sure if it offers any practical benefits but it demonstrates that Wahoo really has considered everything that the user might want to fine tune. Aside from the wider base - which I think is another plus point - it also looks less intrusive than the other three!

    • @gplama
      @gplama  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The standover height adjustment, standard seatpost, and tilt gives Wahoo a LOT to work with in the future. Especially around edge cases.

  • @mramazingtroy
    @mramazingtroy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think the next level is when you put your own saddle on at a predetermined height and bars of your choice. With addition of etap style wireless levers you could via the app have the kickr bike adjust with servo motors.

    Good info, I could make that TT fit me. The giant aero bar mounts have the lowest stack out there, 35mm above center of the bar, that is the way to squeeze everything out. But the downhill hack is pretty good too.

    • @PascalKolkman
      @PascalKolkman 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use the carbon aero 3T Zefiro handlebar with integrated aerobars wich has zero stack height, even lower than the clip on giant aero bar, because with the 3t zefiro your elbows rest on the aero road style handlebar itself wich allows regular road shifters too.
      The integrated small aerobars are interchangeable for longer aero bars by easy mount of one bolt wich also makes it easy to quickly take off the aero bars if you want to do a road race in stead of a time trial where aero bars are not allowed.

    Trouble is, when you tilt the bike forward, you rotate the saddle position in relation to the B/B which will mess up your set back, now if you compensate it will increase the reach, if you then shorten the reach, you raise the bars.........vicious circle.
    Best just to change the stem and don’t use the graduations on the stack adjustment.

      @gplama  4 ปีที่แล้ว

  • @laf9686
    @laf9686 ปีที่แล้ว

    While the stack, reach, saddle height etc, are all quite adjustable, the handlebar is somewhat wide. If you have a couple in the home using this and one needs a narrower handlebar, there is no way to easily adjust this. Wahoo do not sell the hardware to set up a second handlebar that can be swapped back and forth between different sized riders. Seems like a pretty major oversight. Oversized handlebars can cause some pretty terrible shoulder pain. Speaking from experience here.

    Hi Shane,
    I just bought a Wahoo Kickr Bike and I am in the process of adjustments. I found out that the maximum setback is just 12cm. I believe that this can't be enough for all cyclists. I am 175cm tall and still can't get the same setback (bb to saddle) to the road bike that I use.

    • @discostuug
      @discostuug ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Put it on a table lower than you eye level. You can tilt a tv up a bit and a table has four legs for stability. Tables can be found in most furniture shops. Usually square in shape but some are circular or rectangular. If you have trouble finding one put 'table' into a search engine.

    hey Shane, first of all, thank you for the great informative and fun channel!!! I am always looking for the next video of GPLama!!! you surely deserve 1m subscriptions!!! I got a Wahoo Kickr Bike 2 months ago, what an amazing "toy"!!! but there is a thing: I can't quite put the same power as I do in my two other bikes (outdoors), which I run a Favero Assioma Dual on a trek Madone, and a Quarq on a Trek speed concept, both outdoors bike I have fairly similar power readings, but at the wahoo bike it is surely 20-30% less, and it is even a bigger discrepancy when I do some all out attacks (out of the saddle), outdoors I can break up to 1050-1150w, but on the wahoo bike I literally kill myself to hit 750w... would you have any tip regarding that issue!!!??? thank you in advance!!!! Tnx for going over the measurements, im 198cm and have my saddle at 86,5 cm. Their claim of "User Height Range: 5 feet (152 cm) to 6 feet 4 inches (193 cm)" is very inaccurate. Think problem for us over 193 is the reach, Im at 79cm, changing the stem to a longer one is an option.
    Next question from me is how stable will it be at almost maximum settings. Is it even usable, usually bigger riders have it easier to push out more watts. I topped at 1800w last winter season on my kickr, 1 min power is 800w. What will happen to the structure of the kick bike when a bit more weight and maybe higher power will strain the frame for a bit.

    Shane great video, super informative! So I imagine if you are sharing this bike with another person, my wife in my case, then it's just a matter of writing down the measurements and adjusting them to your fit prior to the workout. Is it just that easy and convenient or are there design flaws that prevent an 'easy' change in bike fit. I don't have a direct drive trainer, just a wheel on, and boy what a pain in the ass to swap out the rear wheel for that of a trainer wheel, lots of grease on your hands that I'm afraid to touch anything in my room, which has left some prehistoric-like finger paintings on my wall - to the dismay of my wife.

    • @gplama
      @gplama  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only thing that could catch people with a quick adjust change (and yep, it's quick), is the crank length. If one rider rides 165 and the other 172.5 or 175, that's a big step. One adjustment either way isn't a lot.... it depends what level of detail/training/fit you can accept.

    Reason why I can't get my TT bike position on the Kickr bike is because my crank length Sram 180 mm is not supported (kickr bike maximum is 175mm wich is 5mm too short for my longer legs) . Most aggressive TT position realization on an indoor smart bike for me thus would probably using my own Bike with 180 mm cranks and TT aerobar on a Wahoo Kickr , with the kickr climb, and than doing "the in this video showed lama hack" of dropping the front end by manually simulating a kickr climb downhill slope for short durations.

      Fair enough. 180mm is in the ‘outlier’ category! 🚲👌🏼

    • @PascalKolkman
      @PascalKolkman 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gplama Indeed 180mm nowadays tends to be more in the outlier category, while most brands modern crankarm productions won't do the 180mm anymore.
      Also 165 and 167.5 mm short cranklength arms are in the more rare outlier category, wich do are present as mounting holes in the kickr bike cranks.
      Wich I understand; because it is easier to produce an extra hole at 165 radius from the bb axle than to create one at 180mm radius, wich would require more crank arm material.
      The Tacx Bike max crank arm is a 175mm too.

    I’d pay 5k for this bike if everything was motorized. That way you could save profiles for you and your partner that it could switch between.

    Still not understanding why you would buy this when a trainer and bike does the same thing. Here’s the kicker with this dedicated trainer...how do you ship or transport it when you need warranty repairs... not practical.

      I’m sure smart bikes in general will expand their market share in time, but right now, in my opinion, for majority of the road riders without the disposable income, there are a lot of things higher up on the priority list than a smart bike.
      It’s nice to have the choice, and if there are enough early adopters with disposable income, perhaps the prices will come down to a point where most of us can justify the cost.

    seems like a lot of work - has anyone thought of something similar but you could put your own bike on? might need to remove the rear wheel of something, haven't thought it all the way through yet
