but since my wife died, three weeks ago, I almost can't bear them, because they ARE so deep.

Wonderful reaction to a marvelous song! Your reaction shows what I also feel sometimes listening to music that I feel is especially beautiful: some ecstatic feeling inside. Like the strings of the soul are struck in a proper way and it becomes ... well, a significant experience in life.
The song is speaking about how difficult life experience influences us. How purity faces hardship and darker things in life, perhaps. Well... all good people have to face that, I guess. The translation is quite good from some lines that I have noticed. More free to read good than close to the original word for word translation.
The lyrics is very good really. And especially beautiful melody here is to me the chorus part.
I completely agree that there is a lot of primal sound and vibe in Diana's songs and singing. Mystical and spiritual. Perhaps one of the things I love most about her. Beautiful indeed.

The deepest song that I have heard so far from Diana is Horses (or Ornery Horses), a highly metaphorical song about the premature end of an unfulfilled life. She got so involved in the lyrics that she was in tears when she finished the song.

Diana had reached a point where her voice was changing. She was growing up and completely lost her ability to reach the higher notes. She said that she was limited to one octave and a half. Because of her hard work and a great teacher, she not only regained her higher notes but she went even further.
I love mostly her deep, rich, low tones, but I must admit that she now makes beautiful, sweet high sounds as well.

Greetings from Scotland! *The best natural reaction of the decade!* Rosalie, you know the life story of Diana, the lyrics make a lot of sense because they came directly from her heart, she opened her soul and it spoke to us! They literally describe her feelings and her travels through her life so far. She suffered terribly in her early years but never lost faith in herself, never gave up! She knew there was something more waiting for her as long as she kept focused on it. Here we are at the stage in her life where she has made her peace with that suffering and is telling us that she's OK, she feels released from that period in her life and is now moving on. Do you notice how Diana doesn't need any words to convey emotions to her listeners? There is a deep resonance in her vocals which is actually palpable and many have described the feeling it produces within them. For me, it's like my soul has been penetrated by her feelings, as if she reached inside me and took away the pain and replaced it with happiness! ok had to send you a second message on this one Diana is an Empath and in such she feels thing on a deeper level but because of her past she is very withdrawn when it comes to talking about how she feels inside she doesnt share it very often but she does it in her music it is where she can reveal her true self and her emotions as you watch more of her music you will see it come more clear it is one of the reasons I am drawn to her so much. There are a few people on this planet that can move you the way she can and then you finally just come to understand that is the real her she is sharing nothing put on nothing fake about her you cant fake what she does everytime she sings anything she will move you.

I love that you really pay attention to the song you are listening and you are not doing it just to say wow this is great blablabla like others usually do, also your input goes further since it seams that you are a singer yourself.
As for the song i just love it, the central meaning i personally think is the telling of the story of how Diana met her adoptive mother and the feelings you could see reflecting in each other's eyes.
I do not know if it is like that, if "Revelation" is of godly nature it would apply to anyone differently and all can relate to the lyrics according with their own experiences, but at the end of the day a "True" mother is a god to the eyes of every child and that would hold double in her case.
