How the heck did virtually unknown Bonnie Franklin have so much power from the beginning of the show? She seemed like a nightmare to work with if they didn't cave in to her vision of the way things should be.
She acted in the 1960s in a lot of television shows, including several appearances on Gidget with Sally Field. In 1970, Vogue magazine did an article on three women would go far in their careers: Melba Moore, Sandy Duncan, and Bonnie Franklin. Melba Moore had musical hits, Sandy Duncan would have her own TV series (Funny Face 1971 - cut short by her eye tumor and subsequent surgery that cost her her vision in the one eye, and The Sandy Duncan Show in 1972). Then, Franklin.
@carrie heffernan I completely agree. When Roseanne Barr did that on her own show (its first run) which was a massive hit she was crucified. Ridiculous..
@2:12 Franklin revealed she was unhappy with the show followed by Harrington saying she reworked or rewrote a script she did not like. And continued speaking out to TPTB of the show throughout its run. No front page tabloid stories of her "bitchy" or "diva" attitude. Less than a decade later Roseanne Barr did the same thing on her own show named for her and she was crucified for it despite the massive hit her show was. Ridiculous.
I'm researching many of Norman Lears shows and they clearly started the great moral decline in the West. Most, created divisions that didn't even exist.
It's so fun to see an upload of an old tv playing what looks like an over played VCR taped tv show. Show was before my time but I love watching this.
Thanks for uploading this! I'd never seen this before

That Mick Jagger story creeps me out.
Unless there is corroborating evidence or witnesses, I take it with a pound of salt.

Mackenzie screeched in American grafitti and one day at a time .Valerie bertinelli Pat Harrington Bonnie Franklin were the stars
as good a quality rip as the moon landing footage.
This show normalized single mother homes; and it’s destroyed America.

Wow its amazing how all the stage actors hate the movie actors. I know its not the same but geeze go back to stage.
What a horrible upload!
It's from a VHS upload, what do you expect. It's still very watchable and I appreciate being able to watch it now.
