She also hosts a drug and alcohol recovery podcast every Tuesday called America Recovers, find it on Itunes or Spotify now. I'd say she's doing just fine... :)

In the Disney Channel show So Weird now available on Disney Plus, she plays just that! A rockstar mom on TOUR. the music is amazing. Its whz Im such a fan of her music!!
If this was a live recording Mackenzie Phillips beat everyone from Stevie Nicks to Madonna to Beyonce to Lady Gaga because this performance is profound. WOW.
She played a rock singer and recorded tons of original songs in Disney’s So Weird streaming on Disney+ now! She has a huge cult following from it! 🫶🏽💐❤️🔥
I live in Italy, a few days ago on tv they broadcast the episod of The Incredible Hulk "Metamorphosis" in wich she plays the dissatisfied singer Lisa Swan. What a great voice!👍🏻👍🏻
I actually heard this before Kiki Dee's version. Monday September 13, 1981. I woke up early for no reason at all. I knew there was no school due to school strike, but I did it anyway. I can only say I was a kid.

She has a huge following of young folks like me because she played a rock star in Disney’s So Weird. Disney+ finally officially released the show after 20 years. She’s literally my favourite singer of all time! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🤌🏽🥰
A bit of trivia. I believe that, other than this two part episode, Mackenzie sang only one other time on the show. She did the Kiki Dee part of Don't Go Breaking My Heart. I Got the Music in Me was also a top 20 hit for Kiki Dee. Someone at the show must've been a fan.
'Course she sings "Without You" in this two part segment too, before "Music In Me". She did a tiny Christmas jingle with Valerie that they recorded on their answering machine. She also did a number with Michael Lembech later in the show called "Love & Marriage". All of which, I have uploaded to TH-cam so check them out! Thank for enjoying the great music, show, and for being a fan of Macks!
Also, I have to say, if you are a fan of Macks music (her voice) please listen to her music from So Weird. Amazing music. You must hear "Love Is Broken", "Rebecca", "More Like A River", "The Rock, "While I Stare" and so much more! She also did a stint in the 80's with her dad and The New Mamas New Papas. I can send you a link to all this music if you'd like.
I recommend you search "Rebecca", "Love Is Broken", "In The Darkness", "Love Song", "Last Night Blues", "More Like A River" by Mackenzie Phillips! She has tons of great songs! When she was 17 or so she recorded the song "Junk Food Junkie" with The Jackson 5 for their show at the time. And later became one of the latter touring members of The Mamas and The Papas (on CD releases and cowrote some of the songs) in the late 80's to 90's. She played a rock singer on The Incredible Hulk that fearures two of her songs and she played and sang all the songs Molly Phillips, a touring rockstar for 3 seasons worth soundtrack on Disney's So Weird currently streaming on Disney+ Now! Shes so talented! Considered actual Rock Royalty.

If she put this out as single in 1975/76 just as One Day At A Time was red hot would've likely been a solid top 3 smash vs Kiki who did fine but barely missed the top 10 in the US.
Life was tough on Mackenzie. I know she made bad choices but anybody who had read her book can understand how a troubled childhood and adolescence can have an impact for the rest of your life. Sadly her only source of comfort was a very sick man like her father.
