    In my opinion too, it is important that a student should memorize the times table till 20. To help those students who find it hard to do so , I use these EasyCal techniques to make their job easier and interesting :)

    You are an unbelievable teacher. All these people that are complaining about what you should and should not say, would have students that would be lost in math. You on the other had make math fun and enjoyable, with makes learning easier and more exciting. Thank you!

    9s are easy. 9 times any number from 2 to 9 must equal nine. For example 9x4=36..3+6= 9. Also the first number will be 1 lower than the number multiplied by 9. 9×8 8-1=7 ..7+2 =9. So now you know your 9s.

  • @glad2teach
    @glad2teach  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Agreed !! However if you take Math as an interesting challenge for your mind ( just like we do with Sports and Video Games ) then you would surely 'enjoy' the difficulties Mathematics throws at you. All the Best -- Shahryar Badar Khan ( Glad2teach )

    Dear almallegra, thanks for your kind appreciation. People from world over have found this EasyCal Video useful and have given it a thumbs up ( 480 likes Vs 28 dislikes ). Those 28 people found this technique too basic ( read: childish) and insulting for their Mathematical ego. They already know their table of 9 and think so does everyone else.

    They are 9 and 11. We are really behind in math and I'd love to get them caught up. They have had a hard time remembering the math facts, so we have moved really slowly. I've got to get my daughter (11) on long division and my son (9) on multiplication. We spent time in a "brain training" program this past school year that has helped a lot, not we need to begin moving forward. Does this course go over the "Base" concepts you talk about in detail? Would this program be a good fit?

    @vangelof I think this is just a trick that only works with numbers multiplied by 9. It's a neat trick. It's just limited. You have to look at some of the other trick lessons for the numbers you mentioned. This is just a cool one that works specifically for problems involving multiplication by 9.

    n = any number
    for 9: 10 x n - n, same as 9 x n
    for 5: n/2 x 10, same as 5 x n
    i dont really know if you can call any math tricks "tricks", all they are is rephrasing the equation into something that processes a bit smoother in your head.

    i have another method that i learned myself before wathing this. It is very close to this one.
    lets take 7x9. first you see what you are multiplycin with. its 7. then you take 1 from it.
    thats 6. then you know it will be 6- and something else. But the first and second number will be 9, if you set them together. so what you then need is 3. that means that the number is
    63. Could you use this?

  • @Censeo
    @Censeo 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    My dad taught me, when I was a little kid that 9X is the same as 10X - X. So 9 * 44 = 440 - 44 = 396. That have helped me a lot to remember.

    Label your thumbs on both hands as 6 and index fingers as 7 etc.
    Now touch your #6 finger with the #7 finger of your hand ther. Your inside fingers count as 10. And your outside fingers you multiply together. You should have 3 outside fingers on one hand and 4 on the other. 3x4=12. Now add that to your 3 inside fingers (the touching fingers count) and that gives us 30+12=42. So our answer for 6 x 7 is 42.

    how would this work with 8x4...you would put down ur fourth finger and have 3 fingers up on one side and six on the other.. 8x4=32 not 36 and for the comment below me adding 0 then subtracting by the number.. what about 18x14?= 18x 14 = 140-14= 126..while 18x14 is actually 252..so if u have to multiply by 2 when and how often is it nessary...

    @judy1445 instead u will label ur left pinky to thumb 123 etc,u should do the same
    pinky finger L &R should be 6 ring finger l&r should be 7 and the rest are just the same then just do the same thing on that video for example:7 x 6=? so pinky (left or right) and ring finger (left or right)you should make it touch each other so it is 2 plus one in its bottom so 3 ,4x3=12 so carry 1 to 3 so its 4 so the final answer is 42...sorry i can't make a video

    cool way to multiply with 9, however in my head one other way works.
    every number you multiply with 9 just add 0 behind it and subtract the same number
    eg.
    9x1= 10-1 =9
    9x5= 50-5 =45
    9x7= 70-7 =63
    so, whatever is easier to you works, for me it's easier to subtract in my head cuz sometimes i have a something in my hands and can't take a look ;)

    I am extremely bad at math now, but back in elementary school, I developed for me by myslef even easier way to multiple one digit numbers by 9, without using fingers or remembering anything. It just goes like that: 8-1 = 7, so the first digit of answer is 7. How many left to ten? Eight plus TWO is ten, so the second digit is 2. The answer = 72.

  • @ArthurElizondo
    @ArthurElizondo 16 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice. Here is another way. Each number multiplied by 9 has two digits. The first digit has 1 subtracted from the number being multiplied and the 2nd digit is the number needed to add to 9. Examples: 9x6= 6-1=5 the second digit is 5+?=9 answer is 4 thus 54. 9x6=54 check by adding 5+4=9. Next 9x1=09, 9x4=36. Easy isn't it?

    Before I knew my nines I just subtracted 1 from the number being multiplied by nine, then add another digit to make both add up to 9.
    Ex: 9(3), 3-1= 2, another digit to add to 2 that makes nine is 7.
    9(3)=27

  • @jfriesen39
    @jfriesen39 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    to multiply by 9:
    ie: 9x7. Number which is not 9 (7) - 1 = 6 < First number.
    Second number = difference between first number (6) and 9, or in this case, 3.
    So: 9x7=63
