This means that with Equilibrium on Protea, dispensary's health orb alone restores more energy than it takes to cast the ability, without factoring in the energy orb that it also drops. Equilibrium on Protea is amazing for her energy economy. Drop a dispensary at the start of a mission and just keep dropping it occasionally throughout the mission. You may not even need to run Zenurik.
Even with this information in mind, if you're running Equilibrium . . . I'd argue that her 3 is the best thing to slot out with subsumes because you DONT need super high efficiency or energy economy with her 4, any typical mission will drop plenty of orbs of dead enemies for you AFTER each rewind to top her off. Her 4 resets everything, if you want to go hard on weapons with dumb ammo economy problems where you dump clips? Protea. Do you want to mash your 1 and 2 until the screen becomes visual garbage as grenades and turrets block your view? Keep the 4. Protea is the only warframe I use in Railjack and I'm well aware of how good her 3 can be. Her augment scales off STR and can strip everything really quickly, which also means you dont need Corrosive shards if you use her as a weapons platform and just run a modest amount of strength. For defense type missions, removing the 4 is a bad call because you can run into groups and drop a lot of chaos for 15-20 seconds while returning to the point which is a lot of fun in duviri. DE is planning to change status and damage types soon, if this augment goes unchanged but armor becomes infinitely more important to strip this might glow-up.
Something to note about Protea is if the set bonus from the augur mods or brief respite gives you shields, the new shield gating duration will override your shield satellite's duration. It usually isn't an issue but if you ever find yourself dying as protea it is likely either a toxin proc or your shield gate duration suddenly went from 3 1/2 seconds to 1/2 a second due to those mods.

You can use Equilibrium over Energize (it's better anyways as Dispensary starts with health orbs), and then have an extra arcane slot for more duration or whatever.
Just in case anyone in the comments is lacking in Tauforged Crimson Archon Shards, did some quick maths and found out you can remove one and still reach the Gloom Cap with the remaining two. (Gloom reaches 95% slow at 272% Power Strength, and this build comes with 289% Power Strength with everything factored in. 289% - 15% = 274%. You can almost entirely skimp out on all shards by running Growing Power in your aura as well).
@@stefanlewis7773 that's the neat part, you don't have to. What's stopping you from having two or even three different builds on her? I do that on any frame where it's possible. Zime literally mentioned a few different subsumes, use those if you don't like Gloom.
the prime visuals do a good job on improving upon her base model however, it was very very clear from the beginning that whatever the prime would be, won't be better than the outstanding deluxe genuinely the best deluxe there is, it looks just so good

I know you kinda said she could run "any companion" but i don't think you mentioned the best (especially for her), Nautilus. Passive tight enemy grouping with Cordon + Manifold Bond goes a long way in increasing the effectiveness of your Blaze Artillery, and your general killrate. Though, specifically with the Gloom build, there is a negative synergy due to the slowdown effect applying to how fast the Cordon grouping can actually move enemies. But i have a feeling a lot of people will be running Roar instead anyway due to faction damage double dipping on DOTs and Protea being a DOT enjoyer between her shrapnel grenades and her Blaze Artillery.
Nautilus is great if you have no way of grouping enemies, but I'm personally not a fan of how little control you have of where and when cordon pulls enemies. Not saying it's bad though. It's great.
Cordon is good, Diriga with a magnetic + + element helstrum allowing fast priming to run any gun or melle CO weapon feels better for me honestly. A good hound setup would also be a lot of fun because you are generally grounded a lot and her abilities synergize with the hound/moa loadouts.
I like running proboscis cernos for grouping. It doesn't group enemies super tight, but it DOES have a pretty great range with its tendrils and has high status and innate viral. I like to mod it for heavy heat and max status chance and status duration and just use it as an all purpose primer for both slash and heat inherit. Since her dispensary drops ammo crates you also don't have to worry about running out of arrows.

@@fenrys4694 Energize makes an energy orb give 175 energy, but with a 15 second cooldown. Dispensary gives health orbs at 100 health, giving you 110 energy with no cooldown except for the short delay between it spawning another health orb. And it has a chance to deploy two at once. Dispensary has been better than energize in almost every case since the helminth allowed players to put that ability on their build, straight up. The only exceptions is missions where you have to move around a lot, since dispensary is a fixed deployment. And rage effects are still better for health tank frames for the same reason.
@@fenrys4694 but if you give up primed flow in favor of equilibrium, you can ditch arcane energize in exchange for another arcane of your choice. Equilibrium also lets you spam abilities way harder than flow/energize
One thing I would love to mention, is the way her heat DoT turrets work. Each enemy they hit, it 2x’s their damage, THIS IS AN INFINITE MULTIPLIER, and is capable of hitting multiple enemies at once. In turn, sky rocketing her multiplayer. This also works with weapons, meaning the heat on your weapons is also doubled. Using a heat Probosc Cernos is two birds with one stone territory, as it groups, and can spread heat.
I actually prefer running her Temporal Anchor with the augment. Using her 1 to cover the map in long lasting shrapnel fields that shred armor of any eximus that don’t just get stunlocked by the grenades is fantastic. Her 4 refills her energy and shields back to whatever it was before using it so you can activate it again and go back to spamming more grenades. She can lock down entire interception maps on steel path by herself and clean up and armorless eximus or acolytes with her turrets.
@Brozime it's to do with how long you get when your shield breaks normally you might get couple seconds invulnerabillty with normal shield breaks where protea gets double that,. if you use Auger mods it sets it back to the normal shield break for her.
Protea is like Octavia... In the sense that whether or not she gets "adjusted" depends entirely on if people start using her or not. Anyway guys she's really boring you're just pressing 2 in-between managing 3 different timers and nobody should play her. (Is it working?)
not really, octavia has infinite scaling damage and effective invulnerability with her 3, protea just has really good damage provided you're mashing 2, and shield gating from her 1 which you need to pay way more attention to, octavia scales way higher and requires less effort, protea's actually in a really healthy spot

I mean I’m looking for a jack of all trades character. Yes I am rather new and yes im one of those players from Destiny. Yes i am using one singular warframe for all content. Doesn’t matter if they are f tier. I will 100% beat the game with a singular character. Currently solo maining wisp for all content but I wanted to see what other frames are good. I love characters with turrets after I tried out technomancer from Outriders. I just kinda hate how unreliable content creators are with builds so I get all my info from the overframe website.
She really can be build in many different ways, I personally focused more on duration and strength using purp equili shard and 4 red strngth and keeping range neutral or slightly above... tho I personally prefer running a rank 0 archon vit as you don't really need the hp if ur shield gating / using roll guard for toxin for example
This video missed a massive point which is using viral tempest on Protea. A full armor strip and viral stack without any weapons is possible within a couple seconds with viral tempest and 2 green shards, the armor strip alone is a bigger DPS boost to hard target enemies like steel path eximus units than you could ever hope to achieve with abilities like roar and eclipse. You also get viral stacks on everything so you don't have to build it on your weapons. Also, Brozime showed a max range build but there is a solid argument to be made for max duration builds on Protea. I run 265% duration (before molt efficiency), 100% efficiency, 199% range, and 85% strength (before molt augmented, growing power, and zenurik strength boosts), once I get the molt efficiency boost then blaze artillery lasts for over 8 seconds compared to the build in this video with 5 seconds. The extra 60% increase in blaze artillery duration allows the burn stacks to tick massively higher at the end of blaze artillery and the multiplier on blaze artillery hits much larger numbers with the extra 3 seconds of duration. Once you compensate for the lower starting DPS and the exponential damage scaling dependent on duration, your overall DPS on blaze artillery is significantly higher with a max duration Protea build than other build options. It is really the way to go if you want to do hard or longer missions, plus there is significantly less recasting of shield satellites, shrapnel nades, and dispensary.
Okay finally got around to trying this and holy shit it blows everything else outta the water. I thought a similar duration maxed Pillage build might be solid since it's so easy to hit the necessary breakpoint for a 100% strip (precision intensify, molt augmented etc etc), but the additional free viral procs ON TOP of the armor strip from tempest just send your DPS through the stratosphere. And mind you, I haven't even put any green shards on her yet. Technically the Pillage build can lead to faster kills once you have the instant 100% strip, but not only does that require time to stack augmented, but it also requires much more of your attention AND a lot more button pressing, both of which are extremely important points that you can't measure on the stat page. Being able to just cast tempest and forget about the area for 30s, knowing full well everything in there will continue to get stripped and viral proc'd, oh baby. Being able to focus fully on your turret placements, grenade saturation, and her passive (and, ya know, using your weapons lol) ON TOP of killing everything anyway? You can't put a price on that
Replacing the 2 auger mods with blind rage and equilibrium with 3-4 tau duration shards is optimal for 3.5 sec shield gate Transient is also worth considering for lower gloom drain
Tesla nervos (with augment) over dispensary. Archon stretch for energy sustain. Temporal erosion, build for range and duration. Nautilus for grouping. Portable electric nuke protea with large aoe armor strip. P.S. Violet shards increase the explosion damage of tesla bank. Tesla nervos is an underrated subsume.
I find Protea's 4 more useful than some might think, and that's mainly due to the augment Temporal Erosion providing her 1 and 2 armor strip when it's active.

Tbh Gaz's mecha set has rapidly become my main protea build, since with roar over her 4 and all the benefits it comes with, the mecha set is hilarious when it pops an entire group of SP enemies from 2-3 Kompressa shots
I prefer to have my blade nades on hold and shield on tap, seeing as it turns my one into a very effective panic button in the rare occasion I start dying. but to be fair that doesn't happen too often
I dont even think about it. I run max duration builds so I can strip armor, empty clips, and drop dozens of AOE status abilities all around the map. I love her base kit, people want to fix what isn't broken a lot of the time. In protea's case, her kit is broken but in the good way and with damage/status changes coming it might even be better.

Unless the Eximus can one shot you, Gloom's life steal on hit should ensure eximus can't burst you down. Compound that with Grenade Fan giving you Overshields and refreshing your Shield gate, that makes Protea getting one tapped by Eximus near impossible.@@anthonychase6906
I think subsuming Hydroid's Tempest Barrage and using the Viral Tempest augment - while absolutely overkill - is hilariously strong as its just the right build for it and the viral procs synergize brilliantly with her slash grenades. It also significantly reduces the grenade spam, just press 4 twice and grenade twice and any enemy that goes into the AOE for 20s *will* die.
Two green shards with viral tempest barrage goes crazy Edit: turns out I prefer roar with precision intensify. I keep the green shards in case I want to strip with phantasma though this will probably change come the armor rework.
The Equilibrium effect, from the mod or shard, is really huge for Protea to grab the health orbs from Dispensary so it will continue to spit them out. Also, there's a bug that kills her normally extremely long shield gate if you get any energy return from the Auger mods or if anyone is running the BR aura, so watch out.
My protea build has been max duration + pillage for years at this point. 5 duration shards gets up to %400 duration because blaze artillery scales with duration. Then Pillage + corrosive projection + molt augmented can %100 aoe armor strip. Also equilibrium + synth fiber on protea is god tier. Health orbs count as energy, and proteas health orbs are real big.
Something else to note, heat inherit works on her blaze artillery, you don't need to use it, but its hilarious damage and scales ridiculously well. I use it with ensnare subsumed, it can easily kill most enemies on conjunction survival in 3 - 4 shots and still have plenty of time left on the turret.
Yup its been bugged for a while and DE still haven't fixed it. That being said I don't build around bugs that should hopefully be fixed soon with Protea getting more attention
You should not run Augur mods on Protea, because it bypasses the shield gate timer from satellites. You can also run a base Archon Vitality if you don't want to spend to max it out, just as effective for damage... but it means you have to be a little more focused with your shield gating. I've done level 10000 cap Steel Path Circuit with almost this exact build (minus Augur mods)
So it's possible for high level content? I'm building her and I was sorta afraid from the relatively low ability strength number since a lot of other youtubers I saw has much lower efficiency and higher strength
I like to have three green shards on her, two + corrisove and one tau +dmg on corrosive targets, then put Tempest Barrage with Viral tempest to get some AOE armor strip and more damage. There are better armor strips, but Barrage plays into her area control. Throw grenades in a spot, put down a barrage, then aim a blaze artillery that way and now you have that spot locked down and you are free to do something else, like putting up an other spot to lock down.
Augment: temporal distortion, removes the rewind effect and instead turns the ability into a toggle that will teleport you to the activation point when you would die or de activate the ability, with a few seconds invincibility and a 30 second cooldown. Lol, not likely but her 4th really needed more than a tact on armor strip for a 10 second window. One other thing protea prime doesn't do is have helmets that fit well with her prime skin.
DE could just turn temporal anchor into a channeled ability. That way, you don't have to worry about short duration windows at all, and her energy economy wouldn't even be impacted due to Dispensary.
I personally use nezha’s firewalker in place of her 4, because the movement speed and aoe is nice, but also the status immunity it gives when standing on the flame trail.
I have been enjoying a Diriga + Equilibrium Shard setup on my normal protea so far, and plan to run it on Prime as well once I get that gods forsaken Chassis Blueprint. I basically never have to drop a dispensary, the amount of Energy you get is insane. I usually run Zenurik, plop down a dispensary at the start of the mission, grab the first health orb and then just enter godmode.
I really wish they would make her 4 better. It's such a cool concept, and is thematically the core of her kit, but...no one ever uses it. You can tell they didn't quite know what to do with it too. Since healing and resetting cooldowns is just not much of a thing in Warframe, they tried to make it into some kind of explosion nuke thing that has nothing to do with time travel? Wish it worked more like Tracer rewind or, barring that, I wish they purposefully gave her long CDs or something for it to interact with.
Huh, my archon shard choices were an equilibrium, two duration, shields and energy all tauforged. Admittedly the blue ones are the two I'm not totally sure on.
Archon vitality is only worth using if you are not armor stripping (ie the gloom build) or if you are doing very high levels. Otherwise, its entirely unnecessary. With her new augment her slash grenades and artillery strips armor in a couple seconds or less, letting her turrets especially three shot base level steel path where the gloom build requires longer to kill due to enemy armor and waiting for heat procs to tick. Augur mods is a no no, augur mod shield gain will override her shield satellite shield gate boost duration, which is at maximum 5 seconds with some shield mods, longer than any other warframe on their own with redirection equipped. So every time you cast an ability to shield gate, you're gonna immediately reset those i frames in favor of minimal i frame duration which is 0.3 seconds. You sadly can't force pubs to not have brief respite though, that will always kill your 5 second i frames against your will lol.
So apparently there is an oversight that makes augur mods actively make protea worse whenever enemies can one shot her shields as the augur shield gait overrides the shield nade shield gate leaving her very vulnerable...
Range is a trap if you want to kill faster, for example on survival. Its good for defense but still not needed. its much better to drop some 1 or even 2 range mods to make room for equilibrium, which REALLY is a game changer, and maybe something else like mecha setup or more damage. the reason range is bad is because enemies just wont get to you with gloom up at max range or even just grenades, it is just TOO good. I often even just use gloom without the 100% bonus strength, just so enemies come in faster.

Doesn't contagious bond rely on pets killing to spread the status? At this poing I guess melee influence with a zaw (idek if it's possible) or a long range melee such as corufel can proc the statuses for you from afar which is more reliable
I wonder how well protea prime will be against the murmur in SP survival considering that some of the murmur faction can drain your energy without the exmius arua (the hollow veins are a good example) also in the murmur faction on SP you're not just going against 2 types of units but rather 4 the acylotes, necramechs, the fragmented and the cavia (if I have spelt that correctly) and not counting that warden from the fragmented part of the murmur faction (the one with 3 arms flys around and tries to protect his arms with his body immune to damage forcing to shoot the arms to kill it) which can be pain a lot of the time same with the necramechs (if you let them come)
Your only complaint about the fashion on your favorite frame is some arm sleeves? You got off lucky. Try having an enlarged bottom you can't get rid of. With how much I am using dispensary in helminth the opposite is true that you can turn Protea into a helminth ability frame with using her passive and dispensary to upkeep it. Used this to maximum effect with Null Star during its heyday, still very usable today as well, to reach high KPS numbers in ESO with minimal effort.
As someone who doesn't really have acess to archon shards yet or arcanes like energize, would subsuming nourish onto her 4 be a smart way to boost the energy economy(and slide in some additional viral)? Or would it be better to just put on equilibrium lol?
I really don't get the gloom subsume, she has everything to survive and you might be better off with anything else. also her 4 with the augment is great but that's more of a playstyle preference, i understand people don't like the loopy thing. Also finally maybe it needs some math but wouldn't duration shards be better ? Blaze artillery scale with each shots so having them last longer might be better ?
Take out the overextended, unless your only doing open world things with her. Blind range instead of overextended and get a Equilibrium in there. Then you'd have enough power strength for pillage.
Nice builds for solo play BUT in a group, Blaze artillery is useless in its current form. That's the one I Helminthed and she does just fine in SP content without it. Her Temporal Anchor is (for me) a free revive as I throw that down when I screw up and know I'm gonna die 😂 I've only played her for a day and she's fine for SP, Archon hunt & new deimos maps. This is without maxed out mods & zero forma build but then I still want a challenge when I play 👍 And as always, big thanks for the vids you upload - they definitely helped me out when I first started to play 👍😎
throw vauban's helminth ability on there for maximum combat engineer. Paired with Archon Stretch and you can probably drop Arcane Energize for another utility. Perhaps Molt Efficiency for the Duration
Unpopular opinion: arcane energize is kinda useless because of protea's dispensary + equilibrium. Also, I use huras kubrow with protea. It increases survivability a lot.
I guess it tells how much warframe has powercrept in the recent year that I do not consider this good anymore? Any semi-aoe with green shards would be better. Any melee influence would be better.
2 Green shards is a lot of investment just to do 1 thing - strip armor. Melee influence is only really GREAT on a handful of weapons unless you get a riven to juice the electric damage. The thing thats great about Protea is that "now" she is accessible to all the smooth brains, her kit allows so much flexibility that almost anything ^just works^ You can easily out dps everyone else on the team combined with her base kit just by dumping her chaotic spell spam everywhere and make enemies cry.
Its well known that augur mods/brief respite negatively impact Protea's extended shield gate invincibility duration So to run 2 in your build and not address that, even to say that the information is outdated (or say that it doesnt make a tangible difference in reality), is pretty dodgey. Posting builds without knowing/caring about relevant interactions like that is some real KMF energy
As a protea players. It really doesn't matter unless you're going level cap. These guides aren't for the hyper veteran looking to absolutely minmax everything. They're for newer players that are just getting to the point of end game building.

Passive tight enemy grouping with Cordon + Manifold Bond goes a long way in increasing the effectiveness of your Blaze Artillery, and your general killrate. Though, specifically with the Gloom build, there is a negative synergy due to the slowdown effect applying to how fast the Cordon grouping can actually move enemies. But i have a feeling a lot of people will be running Roar instead anyway due to faction damage double dipping on DOTs and Protea being a DOT enjoyer between her shrapnel grenades and her Blaze Artillery.
Nautilus is great if you have no way of grouping enemies, but I'm personally not a fan of how little control you have of where and when cordon pulls enemies. Not saying it's bad though. It's great.
Cordon is good, Diriga with a magnetic + + element helstrum allowing fast priming to run any gun or melle CO weapon feels better for me honestly. A good hound setup would also be a lot of fun because you are generally grounded a lot and her abilities synergize with the hound/moa loadouts.

I like running proboscis cernos for grouping. It doesn't group enemies super tight, but it DOES have a pretty great range with its tendrils and has high status and innate viral. I like to mod it for heavy heat and max status chance and status duration and just use it as an all purpose primer for both slash and heat inherit. Since her dispensary drops ammo crates you also don't have to worry about running out of arrows.

@@fenrys4694 Energize makes an energy orb give 175 energy, but with a 15 second cooldown. Dispensary gives health orbs at 100 health, giving you 110 energy with no cooldown except for the short delay between it spawning another health orb. And it has a chance to deploy two at once.
Dispensary has been better than energize in almost every case since the helminth allowed players to put that ability on their build, straight up. The only exceptions is missions where you have to move around a lot, since dispensary is a fixed deployment. And rage effects are still better for health tank frames for the same reason.
@@fenrys4694 but if you give up primed flow in favor of equilibrium, you can ditch arcane energize in exchange for another arcane of your choice. Equilibrium also lets you spam abilities way harder than flow/energize

One thing I would love to mention, is the way her heat DoT turrets work. Each enemy they hit, it 2x’s their damage, THIS IS AN INFINITE MULTIPLIER, and is capable of hitting multiple enemies at once. In turn, sky rocketing her multiplayer. This also works with weapons, meaning the heat on your weapons is also doubled. Using a heat Probosc Cernos is two birds with one stone territory, as it groups, and can spread heat.
And if you slot in faction mods, hit enemies with that weapon and proc heat, THEN use the artillery, more damage! She's so fun
One can use tenet plix to group up enemies as well and proc the status u want without having to build or revolve around ammo

I actually prefer running her Temporal Anchor with the augment. Using her 1 to cover the map in long lasting shrapnel fields that shred armor of any eximus that don’t just get stunlocked by the grenades is fantastic. Her 4 refills her energy and shields back to whatever it was before using it so you can activate it again and go back to spamming more grenades. She can lock down entire interception maps on steel path by herself and clean up and armorless eximus or acolytes with her turrets.
There's a bug where Auger mods fuck up her first abilty shield satellites.should not use them on her or your weapons.
I haven't had problems even with the bug. Would be nice if they'd fix it though
@Brozime it's to do with how long you get when your shield breaks normally you might get couple seconds invulnerabillty with normal shield breaks where protea gets double that,. if you use Auger mods it sets it back to the normal shield break for her.

not really, octavia has infinite scaling damage and effective invulnerability with her 3, protea just has really good damage provided you're mashing 2, and shield gating from her 1 which you need to pay way more attention to, octavia scales way higher and requires less effort, protea's actually in a really healthy spot

I mean I’m looking for a jack of all trades character. Yes I am rather new and yes im one of those players from Destiny. Yes i am using one singular warframe for all content. Doesn’t matter if they are f tier. I will 100% beat the game with a singular character. Currently solo maining wisp for all content but I wanted to see what other frames are good. I love characters with turrets after I tried out technomancer from Outriders. I just kinda hate how unreliable content creators are with builds so I get all my info from the overframe website.
She really can be build in many different ways, I personally focused more on duration and strength using purp equili shard and 4 red strngth and keeping range neutral or slightly above... tho I personally prefer running a rank 0 archon vit as you don't really need the hp if ur shield gating / using roll guard for toxin for example
This video missed a massive point which is using viral tempest on Protea. A full armor strip and viral stack without any weapons is possible within a couple seconds with viral tempest and 2 green shards, the armor strip alone is a bigger DPS boost to hard target enemies like steel path eximus units than you could ever hope to achieve with abilities like roar and eclipse. You also get viral stacks on everything so you don't have to build it on your weapons.
Also, Brozime showed a max range build but there is a solid argument to be made for max duration builds on Protea. I run 265% duration (before molt efficiency), 100% efficiency, 199% range, and 85% strength (before molt augmented, growing power, and zenurik strength boosts), once I get the molt efficiency boost then blaze artillery lasts for over 8 seconds compared to the build in this video with 5 seconds. The extra 60% increase in blaze artillery duration allows the burn stacks to tick massively higher at the end of blaze artillery and the multiplier on blaze artillery hits much larger numbers with the extra 3 seconds of duration. Once you compensate for the lower starting DPS and the exponential damage scaling dependent on duration, your overall DPS on blaze artillery is significantly higher with a max duration Protea build than other build options. It is really the way to go if you want to do hard or longer missions, plus there is significantly less recasting of shield satellites, shrapnel nades, and dispensary.

Okay finally got around to trying this and holy shit it blows everything else outta the water. I thought a similar duration maxed Pillage build might be solid since it's so easy to hit the necessary breakpoint for a 100% strip (precision intensify, molt augmented etc etc), but the additional free viral procs ON TOP of the armor strip from tempest just send your DPS through the stratosphere. And mind you, I haven't even put any green shards on her yet.
Technically the Pillage build can lead to faster kills once you have the instant 100% strip, but not only does that require time to stack augmented, but it also requires much more of your attention AND a lot more button pressing, both of which are extremely important points that you can't measure on the stat page. Being able to just cast tempest and forget about the area for 30s, knowing full well everything in there will continue to get stripped and viral proc'd, oh baby. Being able to focus fully on your turret placements, grenade saturation, and her passive (and, ya know, using your weapons lol) ON TOP of killing everything anyway? You can't put a price on that
Replacing the 2 auger mods with blind rage and equilibrium with 3-4 tau duration shards is optimal for 3.5 sec shield gate
Transient is also worth considering for lower gloom drain

Tesla nervos (with augment) over dispensary. Archon stretch for energy sustain. Temporal erosion, build for range and duration. Nautilus for grouping. Portable electric nuke protea with large aoe armor strip.

I find Protea's 4 more useful than some might think, and that's mainly due to the augment Temporal Erosion providing her 1 and 2 armor strip when it's active.
I hope DE doesn't nerf her now that she is accessible.

Tbh Gaz's mecha set has rapidly become my main protea build, since with roar over her 4 and all the benefits it comes with, the mecha set is hilarious when it pops an entire group of SP enemies from 2-3 Kompressa shots
I prefer to have my blade nades on hold and shield on tap, seeing as it turns my one into a very effective panic button in the rare occasion I start dying. but to be fair that doesn't happen too often
Sad part for me ( LR 4 ) is that Now that Protea Prime exists I could stop playing now. She is everything I wanted and waited for.
I am one of the few that likes her 4 and the augment, it’s just micro managing to toggle it off before it goes off
I dont even think about it. I run max duration builds so I can strip armor, empty clips, and drop dozens of AOE status abilities all around the map. I love her base kit, people want to fix what isn't broken a lot of the time. In protea's case, her kit is broken but in the good way and with damage/status changes coming it might even be better.
I just use her 4 for the extra Iframes and to get myself out of sticky situations. It's really good.
The 4 is so fun no matter what the others say, i use rewind depending on the situation and it works well!

Unless the Eximus can one shot you, Gloom's life steal on hit should ensure eximus can't burst you down. Compound that with Grenade Fan giving you Overshields and refreshing your Shield gate, that makes Protea getting one tapped by Eximus near impossible.@@anthonychase6906
I think subsuming Hydroid's Tempest Barrage and using the Viral Tempest augment - while absolutely overkill - is hilariously strong as its just the right build for it and the viral procs synergize brilliantly with her slash grenades. It also significantly reduces the grenade spam, just press 4 twice and grenade twice and any enemy that goes into the AOE for 20s *will* die.

You can just make your hound or diriga or whatever pet proc corrosive so you won't have to with your weapons
I have seen this and highly advise against it. It is visual cancer for your whole squad, especially with certain energy colors.
The Equilibrium effect, from the mod or shard, is really huge for Protea to grab the health orbs from Dispensary so it will continue to spit them out. Also, there's a bug that kills her normally extremely long shield gate if you get any energy return from the Auger mods or if anyone is running the BR aura, so watch out.
I heard auger mod shield gate time takes priority over grenade fan shield gating thus lowering the total shield gate break invulnerability timer.
My protea build has been max duration + pillage for years at this point. 5 duration shards gets up to %400 duration because blaze artillery scales with duration. Then Pillage + corrosive projection + molt augmented can %100 aoe armor strip. Also equilibrium + synth fiber on protea is god tier. Health orbs count as energy, and proteas health orbs are real big.
You don’t need synth fiber anymore for equilibrium to work for you frame
Something else to note, heat inherit works on her blaze artillery, you don't need to use it, but its hilarious damage and scales ridiculously well. I use it with ensnare subsumed, it can easily kill most enemies on conjunction survival in 3 - 4 shots and still have plenty of time left on the turret.
What is heat inherit? I've heard the term before. Is it hitting with a strong heat attack and the following procs scales off of that first heat hit?

You should not run Augur mods on Protea, because it bypasses the shield gate timer from satellites.
You can also run a base Archon Vitality if you don't want to spend to max it out, just as effective for damage... but it means you have to be a little more focused with your shield gating. I've done level 10000 cap Steel Path Circuit with almost this exact build (minus Augur mods)
So it's possible for high level content? I'm building her and I was sorta afraid from the relatively low ability strength number since a lot of other youtubers I saw has much lower efficiency and higher strength
I like to have three green shards on her, two + corrisove and one tau +dmg on corrosive targets, then put Tempest Barrage with Viral tempest to get some AOE armor strip and more damage.
There are better armor strips, but Barrage plays into her area control. Throw grenades in a spot, put down a barrage, then aim a blaze artillery that way and now you have that spot locked down and you are free to do something else, like putting up an other spot to lock down.
One of the coolest frames finally gets their prime, if I could afford it I totally would've gotten the Prime Access!

Augment: temporal distortion, removes the rewind effect and instead turns the ability into a toggle that will teleport you to the activation point when you would die or de activate the ability, with a few seconds invincibility and a 30 second cooldown.
Lol, not likely but her 4th really needed more than a tact on armor strip for a 10 second window.
One other thing protea prime doesn't do is have helmets that fit well with her prime skin.

DE could just turn temporal anchor into a channeled ability. That way, you don't have to worry about short duration windows at all, and her energy economy wouldn't even be impacted due to Dispensary.
I personally use nezha’s firewalker in place of her 4, because the movement speed and aoe is nice, but also the status immunity it gives when standing on the flame trail.
I have been enjoying a Diriga + Equilibrium Shard setup on my normal protea so far, and plan to run it on Prime as well once I get that gods forsaken Chassis Blueprint. I basically never have to drop a dispensary, the amount of Energy you get is insane. I usually run Zenurik, plop down a dispensary at the start of the mission, grab the first health orb and then just enter godmode.
If you have the normal equilibrium and just add shards for duration then casting speed, it would be more beneficial

You can tell they didn't quite know what to do with it too. Since healing and resetting cooldowns is just not much of a thing in Warframe, they tried to make it into some kind of explosion nuke thing that has nothing to do with time travel? Wish it worked more like Tracer rewind or, barring that, I wish they purposefully gave her long CDs or something for it to interact with.

Huh, my archon shard choices were an equilibrium, two duration, shields and energy all tauforged. Admittedly the blue ones are the two I'm not totally sure on.
Archon vitality is only worth using if you are not armor stripping (ie the gloom build) or if you are doing very high levels. Otherwise, its entirely unnecessary. With her new augment her slash grenades and artillery strips armor in a couple seconds or less, letting her turrets especially three shot base level steel path where the gloom build requires longer to kill due to enemy armor and waiting for heat procs to tick.
Augur mods is a no no, augur mod shield gain will override her shield satellite shield gate boost duration, which is at maximum 5 seconds with some shield mods, longer than any other warframe on their own with redirection equipped. So every time you cast an ability to shield gate, you're gonna immediately reset those i frames in favor of minimal i frame duration which is 0.3 seconds.
You sadly can't force pubs to not have brief respite though, that will always kill your 5 second i frames against your will lol.
So apparently there is an oversight that makes augur mods actively make protea worse whenever enemies can one shot her shields as the augur shield gait overrides the shield nade shield gate leaving her very vulnerable...

Range is a trap if you want to kill faster, for example on survival. Its good for defense but still not needed.
its much better to drop some 1 or even 2 range mods to make room for equilibrium, which REALLY is a game changer, and maybe something else like mecha setup or more damage.
the reason range is bad is because enemies just wont get to you with gloom up at max range or even just grenades, it is just TOO good. I often even just use gloom without the 100% bonus strength, just so enemies come in faster.

Larva subsume version is nerfed to like 8 meters. Gloom is at full strength and has other benefits aside from grouping for her cannons.

Doesn't contagious bond rely on pets killing to spread the status? At this poing I guess melee influence with a zaw (idek if it's possible) or a long range melee such as corufel can proc the statuses for you from afar which is more reliable
I wonder how well protea prime will be against the murmur in SP survival considering that some of the murmur faction can drain your energy without the exmius arua (the hollow veins are a good example)
also in the murmur faction on SP you're not just going against 2 types of units but rather 4 the acylotes, necramechs, the fragmented and the cavia (if I have spelt that correctly) and not counting that warden from the fragmented part of the murmur faction (the one with 3 arms flys around and tries to protect his arms with his body immune to damage forcing to shoot the arms to kill it) which can be pain a lot of the time same with the necramechs (if you let them come)
I always played her with pillage at 300% and every fourth cast you strip everything. No need to prime with a super heat.

With how much I am using dispensary in helminth the opposite is true that you can turn Protea into a helminth ability frame with using her passive and dispensary to upkeep it. Used this to maximum effect with Null Star during its heyday, still very usable today as well, to reach high KPS numbers in ESO with minimal effort.
Why use nullstar when her 1 already shreds ESO?
As someone who doesn't really have acess to archon shards yet or arcanes like energize, would subsuming nourish onto her 4 be a smart way to boost the energy economy(and slide in some additional viral)? Or would it be better to just put on equilibrium lol?

Strength is for her 1 more than her 2 and gloom as said many times is for a very chill playstyle while Roar is the better aggressive play option
Take out the overextended, unless your only doing open world things with her. Blind range instead of overextended and get a Equilibrium in there. Then you'd have enough power strength for pillage.

throw vauban's helminth ability on there for maximum combat engineer. Paired with Archon Stretch and you can probably drop Arcane Energize for another utility. Perhaps Molt Efficiency for the Duration

2 Green shards is a lot of investment just to do 1 thing - strip armor.
Melee influence is only really GREAT on a handful of weapons unless you get a riven to juice the electric damage.
The thing thats great about Protea is that "now" she is accessible to all the smooth brains, her kit allows so much flexibility that almost anything ^just works^
You can easily out dps everyone else on the team combined with her base kit just by dumping her chaotic spell spam everywhere and make enemies cry.

As a protea players. It really doesn't matter unless you're going level cap. These guides aren't for the hyper veteran looking to absolutely minmax everything. They're for newer players that are just getting to the point of end game building.
