    Jimmy would be up for it, John has waggly fingers, Robert never wants to have to sing Stairway to Heaven ever again.
    There are dozens of clips of interviews with Robert saying why they're not going to reunite... basically boils down to "I don't want to become a Led Zep covers band", which is fair enough. I would though.

      go watch his shows with his little band that HE IS ABLE TO DOMINATE with his star power. It's 90% Zeppelin songs. Makes ZERO sense.

    • @brentwerley6762
      @brentwerley6762 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@Head318Hunter Robert Plant has had to answer this question publicly innumerable times, and he gives the same three reasons (the last one in more recent years): 1) Not without Bonzo; too respectful to him and what was... Plant wouldn't touch a single Zep piece in performance for a good 6-7 years after Bohnam died. 2) Musically, he's moved too far away from the material... yes, he takes the skeletal pieces of their work; he's ALWAYS been a covers man. But musically he's approach the material in something he feels better suits his present interests/styles of the time as well as his stage in life. 3) He CAN'T... he may say it in veiled ways, repeatedly referencing his age. But in the ways in which Page and the fans would want him to approach these songs, he simply couldn't do it as a tour night in and night out; he wouldn't be taking care of himself physically.

      I totally agree. It is a shame it took Bonzos death to bring an end to Zeppelin. But they were really starting to fall apart. Jimmy for sure! The follow-up concert have been enough. I love them, and I always will.

    • @joeyhuebner10

      @@Head318Hunter- More like 50%, but I think it's really his age and also the respect he has for John to not get back together and sing those songs like he used to. Plant isn't young and doesn't pretend to be, that's why he always changes his old songs to what he wants, it's not like he's screeching and preening onstage like a has been.
      Getting Zeppelin together also means Robert has to sacrifice his vision for what he wants musically, and the guy is way too damn old to do anything he doesn't want to. There's a respect I have for Robert and his integrity but that's just me.

    • @kman-mi7su
      @kman-mi7su 4 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      Here's where you are wrong, Jimmy and John are aging too and it takes a toll on their ability to play like they used to. I know, I'm a bassist myself and have been since I was 16 and I'm now 51 and developing arthritis in my right hand. This makes it a little harder to play at times. They are much older than me and I can only imagine where their physical bodies are at their age. But things like standing up for long periods of time, having a guitar slung around your shoulder takes a toll on your back, knees, and feet even as one gets older. Psychically playing in groups is a lot different at 16 than 51 is for me now. I'm sure if those guys did a 2 hr show playing their instruments they are pretty darn tired after.

    • @joeyhuebner10
      @joeyhuebner10 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@kman-mi7su- That's not really the point, though your perspective has considerable merit. Robert can't tune his voice to E and sing it like the record, the guy is 72 and though he's a fantastic singer, he's not going to be able to sing communication breakdown at the same rate as he did 50 years ago.

    Page and Jones were wanting to tour, as was Jason Bonham, but Plant was too busy with the Raising Sands album, which is of course fair enough, though a tour would have been amazing.
    Or at least a handful of festival dates over that year.

      Would not be the same without plant... just as it's not the same without bonzo.. yes Jason did a fantastic job... but removing robert singing totally change the whole vibe.. who you going to get.. are they going to try and imitate robert.. the show's jimmy did with coverdale were a joke because of his trying to sing like robert on some stuff and like he was in whitesnake on other stuff... just doesn't cut it..

      Jimmy, as Plant once said, needs a community workshop in order to really get going. The issue is that Jimmy is trying to capture lightning in a bottle by playing with who he's familiar with. John Paul and Robert don't have that issue, they just get some people and create new and interesting music. Jimmy needs to let go in order to move on, or else he'll never play like he says he'll do.

    Talking about money like that to Led Zeppelin feels distasteful. It was never about the money, it was the art of it. An eloquent and considered answer, immediately sideswiped by a ‘but what about the MONEY’ question. Sigh.

    Interesting how Percy says "we" so many times while the others sit in silence and Pagey looks uneasy - is he speaking for them? Anyway, I think artists like this are being selfish. So may fans want to see them again - even if it is a nostalgia trip. It was us who put them in the position of being able to turn down $800,000,000 in the first place... They owe it to us.

    • @michaelstephen819
      @michaelstephen819 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      We put them where they are today - i.e. in a position to be able to turn down these crazy sums. They are now too arrogant to admit that.

    • @Izzbadd
      @Izzbadd 8 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      They don't owe us anything. They left us a legacy of great music. If you understood the dynamics of the band you would know why they will never tour again.

      Plants voice was diminishing after 1972. After the car wreck in Greece he seriously considered quitting.  Their best work was behind them and the only reason he came back was because of the insistence of Bonzo.  The death of his son Karac, in 1977 was the second time he had to be coaxed back and even then he said the band was done after that.  The death of Bonzo was the engine that drove them.  They would never be the same, they knew it and then quit rather than being a joke like the Monkees or the 80 year old Stones....  The 02 show was homage to Ahmet. A one off blessing.
