I recently started a survivalist playthrough from day 1 in the desert biome and I couldn’t even go near that part of the city until at least lvl 10 because of feral soldiers and here you land on a lvl 5 poi, evict the current tenants and live in the damn thing. Mind blown!
Just gotta keep your route of retreat open, and use frames/hatches. (and possibly set feral zombies to daytime jog, movement speed matters as much as difficulty setting)
Hell yeah! In my head cannon this is the continuation of Nightmare. Where your character went off into the sunset on a gyro. I also love the idea of you being confined to a city. It would be neat if you could spawn in a giant wall around the city as though it was quarantined when the infection started. I already love this series, the way you opened it up was perfect.
I've done some feral nights before and my experience is that the first night is always crazy. Never done it in the middle of a city (tend to have higher zombie pop and spawn rate) but as long as they aren't spawning in new zombies at night, if you clear the local wonderers, and don't travel far from base during the day, then there is likely to be few to no feral zombies in future nights. Of course there are always night time wondering hordes.
1 fun idea! What about making a new gyrocopter first then leaving it behind for any survivors who might need it alongside a stacked base, then the final trip would be to go and recover the original gyrocopter during a horde night and use that to escape after fixing it? edit: grammar

Nice intro! Excited for this series. I've been doing a city playthrough and my base is right next door to a Dishong Tower. I used the flower boxes around Dishong to grow Chrysanthemum, golden rod and blueberries and didn't have to make a farm plot to do it.
Great series, awesome intro, excited for you to explore the map! I think it would be cool if you set up "base" on like the second floor so you don't have to worry about zeds destroying your stuff during feral nights but rather than take out the stairs turn the lobby into a literal killing floor for the feral nights and hell, maybe even the horde nights! And if the point is to live in the dishong tower than you'd have to protect the supports on the first floor, so its not like you could (or would, hell you never would lol) just ignore them at night, but you'd definitely be able to get your crafting done w/o worry it'll get rekd if you so much as look away and it kinda gives cabin in the wood vibes, but big city style! lone survivor holding it all down at "home", it could be really cool
If you want to kill two birds with one stone, you might just build a defensive position on the first landing of the staircase. Great start to the new series, looking forward to it. Cheers
Fun series. I like the hatch trick. There was a lot of leather that you left behind in all those booths, also the medicine cabinets when broken down can yield a nice surprise.
This was a great episode. You can place seeds (corn, potatoes, whatever) in those planters next to the front door and any others that look like dark, rich, dirt like those do. There's quite a few farmable spots in that tower (no need to spend resources on farm plots).

Glock9 always motivates me to play 7 days to die but once I play it I have to put my settings to the lowest 1280 x 720 resolution and playing in Alpha 8.4, the true 7 days to die experience
A cool gimmick would be to build a giant wall around the city to create the effect that your trapped. And that the city had a wall built to contain the threat. You can use the fill option with the wrench to get it done quickly. Then for insertion fly around in circles until you're out of fuel and crash land, similarly to how you did it, but less planned.
I just got 7dtd and recently tackled my first horde and am loving the game. you and capoo are the TH-camrs that got me into 7dtd now all I need to do is get my computer to be able to run 7dtd without lag spikes every 2 minutes
Me and a couple of my people tried the Dishong Tower Challenge at the end of A19 (counted the entire city tile as part of the building so we could use the parking lot). Gave up the idea of ending with a gyro pretty quick since there were three of us. We decided to end it when we'd made the building structurally stable again. A20 came out though before we could finish our badass modern luxury apartment in the corner of floors 6-9 lol.
Managed to max out all Archery books and get double pocket clothing mod in the second day just clearing out the newspaper/magazine bins on the city streets, almost every one has a book in it, then you can just sell all the excess or ones you don't want to the trader.
med kit - it's bug, that if you switch weapon too quickly while applying something (can be food, med kid, etc) it will be consumed but not used. Farming - IIRC, you need to re-plant after every harvest but not always get seeds -> leveling living off the land buffs this.

I play a lot during the night. Never noticed a difference in using headlamps as a posed to not. Never wake up sleepers anyways shining a light on them. Noise is what wakes them up.

Glock, if i remember right, as long as you are full hp, voltures that are not part of POI, will just circle around you in the sky. once you take even 1 damage, the will start coming for you.

Feral sense at night is great. I think it makes night time genuinely harder and the game more immersive, I like the pressure of having to get home before dark
Awesome intro Glock. Ironically I just did the same thing and landed on that exact rooftop with my gyrocopter. I forgot that the zombies spawn after you land lol. Talk about an intense moment, even though I had an auto shogun, I still got the shit beat out of me and nearly died. 10/10 would totally do it again.
Love the new series intro, very fun :) Somehow the flying in and getting stranded in zombie city makes me feel like you need to find some Zombrex for Katey, hehe. But um... raw meat & cooking pot at home, 1 point in master chef ...and then immediately find 2 eggs and eat them raw? Next time you 'find' some bacon & eggs, 'read' the stats on it ;)
Loved the intro theme! One thing to try out is the stealth perk (From the Shadows), since it limits the amount of time zombies search for you, as well as muffling noises. May be useful living in the city packed with zombies! Good luck, I'm excited to see what's next!
