Totally agree about Aromatic Elixir. An old boyfriend of mine loved that scent, but when I first tried it at Boots on a strip it was bitter and overpowering to me - so I never wore it (with him). Two years later by chance I sprayed some on my arm and what a glorious transformation. It was beautiful - and like you said - when sprayed frugally - it garners a lot of complements

Katie, you're a true poet. The scenarios you make up to describe a scent really suck me in completely!!! Chapeau!

As always, a ridiculously entertaining compilation, as well as illustrating why I don't go camping!

I wear Bruno Musc year round, but do my Aromatics Elixir trick of applying in the small of my back to pull back on its intensity.
So nice to hear I've given your perfume collection a kick in the pants!

Yep, AE is a potential strangler. Small of the back is the way to tame those bolder fumes.

lol, me too BlueHorseYellow Cow - I love Aromatics and receive compliments whenever I wear it. Katie, you are correct - it must be applied very with a very light touch. But, when you do, you will have people following you to find out what you are wearing. A very unique scent, but timeless.

BA Musc oil is more dense and compressed when you first apply, and takes a while to open up to the point where the EDT begins. Also, the oil has a bit of a waxy smell to it that takes a while to dissipate. They both end up smelling the same, but the oil takes longer to get there. For that reason, I prefer the EDP.

I don't know about shops in Spain, but I always include "where to buy" info on my blog posts that accompany these videos. You can click on the link to my blog in the description box under the video. Hope this helps!

I remember wearing Elixer in my twenties. I completely forgot about it! Then got into Eternity. Or maybe, it was the other way around.

Messe de Minuit is not discontinued, but it doesn't smell as musty and dark as it used to, and has lost its magic. It now smells a bit pot-pourri-ish. The ultimate midnight mass perfumes are Avignon by Comme des Garcons and Bois d'Encens by Armani Prive.

  • @ShivaTantrika

Few women I met applied perfume that way (elixir). A deeper Sense not everyone is ready, but you are. I think that Elixir os quite sharable, don' t you think? I use It.

Sombre Negra by Yosh also has a mushroomy smell to it. Like I would imaging the dark moldy basement of a witches cottage to smell like. Very unusual, but it works. I love it!

  • @KatiePuckrikSmells
    @KatiePuckrikSmells  11 ปีที่แล้ว

"Presence" is exactly the perfect word to describe the older perfumes. They're not apologetically tippy-toeing around, begging pardon for their very existence. Because they are emphatic, they must be applied sensitively, just to get the balance between skin and perfume right. Then the magic happens!

The aromachemical Calone is the Issey smell - it's got a melon/aquatic profile. Try Laila by Geir Ness and Escape by Calvin Klein to switch it up from L'Eau d'Issey.

  • @yeoboseyo

I love the more "time tested" perfumes. They have this glamour and presence that is hard to find in todays newer creations.
My personal favourite is Youth Dew from Estee Lauder. I know some people say it's too strong but I find it to be an absolutely beautiful fragrance. Who is to say being 23 is too young for it if the magical skin chemistry happens? ;)
When I first smelled Aromatics Elixir on a blotter I was in love but unfortunately it does not wear well with my skin.

I have worn Clinique Aromatics for years. People are intrigued and obsessive about it when they catch a whiff. The key is WHIFF. I spray it out ahead of me, let it start to fall then quickly run through it, LOL.

I adore NR for Her. It has a honeyed orange blossom sweetness. Bruno Acampora Musc is more animalic and spicy, less clean and bright than NR for Her.

The clinique perfume is I find the one that people will ask me what I am wearing...which always worries me that I am wearing too much. I think wearing it at the base of your spine is a very sexi way to wear it. I love sexi smells..I once bought Ungaro Diva as someone had described it as 'sex in a bottle' Just found you and am loving watching your perfume reviews. I now have a long list of perfumes I need to try and some old ones to revisit.

A dear passed away friend of mine was convinced that he could smell Femme Fresh on passing ladies. I asked him how he knew what it was and he said that Tony, his ex boyfriend pointed out him and that it was "absolutely disgusting". Anyway, one day we were waking about in Leeds and a woman walked past. He shrieked" There is is, can you smell it?" I could indeed smell it, it was in fact Aromatics Elixir, loud and unmistakable . It's not a favourite of mine, it's so popular and it carries for miles

Oh, I could just kick myself. I LOVE Aromatics Elixir on the dry down but when I bought a bottle and would wear it, I would get a massive headache and feel I was strangling others. I was so disappointed. I wanted to love it; it seems so sophisticated. I never throw out perfume and did I! Now I know the secret (the back of the spine trick... oooh la la) and want to give it another go. Thanks, smart girl!

I discovered Serge Lutens' "Fille en Aiguilles" recently. I had to break my no-buy rule. Have you sniffed this? It's possibly not as smoky/incense/pine as some of the scents you've highlighted as favourites, but it did make me think of you when I smelt it!

I just discovered your channel and I love it! You seem to have such a great personality. By the way, can you do a review on Salvatore Ferragamo Signorina? I smelled a sample of it and I loved it and I'm planning to have this as my first designer perfume. It's quite expensive for a student like me so I just would like to hear your thoughts about it. Thank you :)
