I'm sorry about the loss of your father a few years back. This video really touched me. Thank you, Katie, for your sincerity - and sharing with us the fragrances he liked. He's so proud of you.
This video was touching. My daddy died 14 years ago, but when he was alive and kicking he enjoyed fragrance. Old Spice was his go-to signature, and he enjoyed deep heady orientals. I always wondered where my love for deep scents came from, and looking at your video answered my question. My mother is the opposite, and rather enjoys soft, airy florals, so I know I didn't get that from her. As a daddy's girl, I must admit how I miss his smell around the house. Thumbs up for the video!
Your video brought tears to my eyes. It's a lovely tribute to your Dad and I hope you will always be able to connect to his memory and travel through time using the bottles of old spice and the second one you purchased him.
Beautiful story about your father Katie! My dad passed in 2007 & I miss the way he smelled when he'd have aftershave on. I wish I had asked his wife for his aftershave because what a lovely way to connect with him. You know every time you smell or wear his cologne he is right there with you smiling down on you. I'm sure your dad is very proud of what you've accomplished:)
Thank you so much for that. I remember my dad having an empty glass bottle in the shape of a horse's head. I looked it up online and found out that it was an old Avon aftershave which is unusual because we didn't have Avon in Ireland in those days. Anyway I bought one as a present for my sister and she was very emotional when she saw it.
This was such a beautiful fragrance review. I can see the love you had, as still have, for your father. Thank you for sharing your memories of him with us.
I agree -- this is a beautiful tribute to your father. You've plucked my heartstrings reminding me of my own dear Dad who passed in 2005. He loved wearing the Guerlain Vetiver I gave him, it fit him perfectly. Big hug to you Katie
Aww... I really appreciate that you shared this. It's easy to see that you had a special bond with him. It's bittersweet I guess... On one hand we feel the grief of missing our loved ones, but at the same time, we rejoice for the blessing that means to be related to them.
Aww, that was very sweet of you, hun. Great updated perfume collection videos(even though I love watching the old ones too for ideas!), and a sweet-hearted tribute.
This video was so touching. I'll never forget the day that I first smelled a perfume called Mauboussin; it's this lovely amber-patchouli fragrance marketed for women, but to me it smells the way my dad's hands smelled after he had been reloading shotgun shells, one of his hobbies. It smells like grease and gunpowder, it just smells like my dad's hands. I cried and cried. He's been dead for 7 years now but that perfume takes me back to him with every sniff.
What a nice ending to wrap up this collection series. Fragrances are more than just scents but rather the emotions and memories they convey to us. That's why people are drawn to them.
Loved the tribute to your Dad. My Dad passed a long time ago, and sadly I can't remember him wearing aftershave of any kind :-( I on the other hand love perfume and using it to create memories..on my 25th wedding anniversary my husband bought me a selection of perfumes and I could date them exactly, from holidays, to when I worked in London, to a perfume that a best friend used to wear!
It's amazing, it's so wonderful how we can relive memories just by our sense of smell. And it's so beautiful how we can feel so much closer to those that are no longer with us by just smelling the fragrances they used.
God, bless I can tell you miss your dad dearly, my grandfather also wore old spice and he raised me and I love oriental smells too!! Go figure! I love your reviews keep them coming!
I love the connection of fragrance to memories, your tale with your dad is very sweet. Old spice reminds me of my grandad and being very little having a shaving Ken doll :)
How wonderful to get the confirmation of how much he dug his Safari! I love the "message in a bottle" aspect of Safari reappearing in your life just when your world is taking off. Your dad is always with you.
That's such a sweet story, and a perfect illustration of how smells connect us to people, places, and the stirrings of our heart. You dad well understood that connection with his cologne "anointing".
Katie, I love your reviews. This review in particular was wonderful and touching to watch. My grandfather wears old spice (has for decades) and whenever I smell it I think of boiled lollies and long car trips. Thanks for sharing your memories and igniting a few for me.
I love hearing what your parents wore, I can relate to those fragrances (I'm old!). It's wonderful how fragrances can bring memories of them back. Ahh, I see where you got your looks, your character and charisma. Oh gosh, you brought tears at the end. Love you to bits, Susan
I was really touched when I saw that you are tearing just talking about your father. God rest his soul and I can see from your description that you have lots in common with him. And of course love all your videos
Thank you Katie for another lovely video, I was very touched by your reminiscences ! Some time I will write you about how your videos helped me through the final illness and deaths of my parents in the last couple of years.
This was actually my favorite video of yours...I too lost my Dad and he liked to bust out the Old Spice now and again. wow, you really brought tears to my eyes. He died in 2002 and it feels like a week ago sometimes...scents are so tied to our memories, I like it when someone really understands that. It's important. Thanks for this. ~Heather
I just lost my grandpa in January...he was the only father figure I've ever had and he wore Old Spice as well. I bought it for him every Father's Day and Christmas. The smell brings back so many memories.
How nice that you have a couple of fragrances that conjure up fond memories of your father. A very touching review, it made me think of my father who has also past - although he was not one to wear cologne / after shave he too appreciated the ladies.
Katie, I was so touched by this video! My dad loves Old Spice and a fragrance from Avon called Black Suede (he is an oriental lover as well) and watching this brought back memories of my youth. I remember I use to get lonesome at school for my parents so my dad would put a little of his aftershave on me so a part of him was with me while I was at school. I remember smelling his scent on me and I wouldn't be sad because it was like he was there with me. This video brought back that memory
How did this channel from this 90's icon not do better? With all the perfume channels now... There are very very few that show such knowledge, insight and entertainment.... What a shame she does no more. We miss you Katie x
Eau Sauvage does the same thing for me that Old Spice does for you. My Dad died in 2006. Pretty cool how a scent can bring a person back for just a split second.
loved these videos, such a nice way to remember your dad. makes me fiercely aware of how time does not stop and i need to go see my dad more often. he only lives minutes away, isn't in the greatest of health and shamefully because i am painfully aware of this it seems, i do not go see him like i should-such a weird and obnoxious way the mind works.
What a cute story about your dad! Old spice reminds me of and makes me miss my dad too. I'll have to check out L'homme sage! Love your videos! I'm a fan from way back, your Pajama Party days, that was the best show ever
I miss my Dad too. Tomorrow is his Bday and he died in 2004 at 77 years of age. Handsome and loving etc. I was a Daddy's girl. He loved Obsession for Men. So do I. Thanks Katie
My father wore old spice too and passed away a couple years ago from liver failure it was very traumatic of a disease to die from but anyway that cologne brings me great memories of him as well. Love your vids Hun and may your Dad rest in peace.
Katie! I just got Caron's Nuit de Noel and as i sniffed you came to my mind. You say you are in an ylang kick? try this!! very classic, starts out with a burst of moss, rose, ylang and sandalwood á la green chypre but quickly fades into a very dense oriental base of sandalwood, powdery amber, dark velvety rose and tons of creamy ylang!! This sounds so like what you are looking for lately! and these are so cheap! got mine for around 30$ brand new sealed in box!and they are discontinuing most carons!
That's crazy my father wore old spice. You are right about smells can bring back memories and you definitely think of someone or something when you smell a certain frag. Excellent video as always.
I'm sorry about the loss of your father a few years back. This video really touched me. Thank you, Katie, for your sincerity - and sharing with us the fragrances he liked. He's so proud of you.
You look absolutely beautiful in this video, and the way u talk about your father is just adorable. we miss you here.

The “Miss you Dad” at the end made my heart skip a beat. I’m in tears right now. He’s watching over you now ❤
Thank you x
Broke my heart, Katie. Cleft it in twain. My profound belated condolences. The tail end of this video is a beautiful tribute to your father.
Your video brought tears to my eyes. It's a lovely tribute to your Dad and I hope you will always be able to connect to his memory and travel through time using the bottles of old spice and the second one you purchased him.

Great job as always, Katie. Your words were from the heart and your love for your father is palpable.

Oh my God!!That was so moving!!Nice way of remembering your dad!xx
Love your reviews and thank you for sharing memories of you Dad. Sounds like he was a real character!.
That was so sweet and poignant, having the scent to attach to someone we loved is comforting and heart wrenching at the same time.
That part about your father was so touching, it brought tears to my eyes.
Very touched by your heartfelt reflections on your Dad...(Amazing how much reminiscent smell affects the heart & soul) You ARE a wonderful daughter!

This was such a beautiful fragrance review. I can see the love you had, as still have, for your father. Thank you for sharing your memories of him with us.
that was really touching. He must have been a great man for his child to miss him so much! No one can describe perfume better than you!
Aw Katie. Lovely collection and I loved hearing you talk about your father. I'm so sorry for your loss. He sounds like he was quite unforgettable.
I agree -- this is a beautiful tribute to your father. You've plucked my heartstrings reminding me of my own dear Dad who passed in 2005. He loved wearing the Guerlain Vetiver I gave him, it fit him perfectly.
Big hug to you Katie
I thoroughly enjoyed this video; especially the anecdote you shared towards the end. You are such an amazing person, Katie. Keep doing what you do.
Aww... I really appreciate that you shared this. It's easy to see that you had a special bond with him. It's bittersweet I guess... On one hand we feel the grief of missing our loved ones, but at the same time, we rejoice for the blessing that means to be related to them.

Hi. I just saw your post and wanted to say I'm sorry for your loss.

Oh bless you Katie. Such a sweet, heart warming moment. My Dad is also an O.S wearer and my Mum a no.5 lover. Thanks for this. X
That's such a sweet story, and a perfect illustration of how smells connect us to people, places, and the stirrings of our heart. You dad well understood that connection with his cologne "anointing".
Thanks for the vote of confidence, Douglas. And glad you've wandered back towards the KP Smells sphere.
Good on him! I think it's a good sign when our elders are still interested in smelling good, getting dolled up, etc.
Katie, I love your reviews. This review in particular was wonderful and touching to watch. My grandfather wears old spice (has for decades) and whenever I smell it I think of boiled lollies and long car trips. Thanks for sharing your memories and igniting a few for me.

Thank you for sharing some of your memories with us. The Usherettes...love it! My Father wore Geoffrey Beene's Grey Flannel.
Thanks, Ruby. My dad made a huge impression on anyone who ever met him - he was a vivid character.

That is a huge tribute that my perfume ponderings offered you some solace through what must have been some rough times. I'm glad I could help.
Katie, woow! I wasn't expecting that. Such a beautiful video....need I say more
I'm sorry for your loss, DecemberMarie. He will always be with you - in your heart, and in that Old Spice smell!
Yes, even the look of the bottle is incredibly evocative.
This was beautiful! It brought tears to my eyes.
What a beautiful, sweet tribute to your father.
