I am so jealous of people discovering Tool and getting to listen to them for the first time. I remember that feeling. Welcome to the top of the rabbit hole gentlemen. Spiral out!
Honestly, i enjoy each and every song way more now than the very first time i heard them. Not that i didn't like them when i heard them, but they just kept on growing on me the more i listened to them
@@AtrolinK I agree for the most part. But, can you honestly state that Stinkfist (which was my introduction to Tool) produces stronger feelings for you now than when you first heard that drop at 3:31 of the song?
As a drummer myself I can 100 prencent guarantee you your right he youses the most insane polyrhythms and his hi hat and tom work is beyond amasing and he can still do this in a 3/4 time signetur.
Yes, Maynard writes all the lyrics. What's interesting is the guitarist and bassist bring in some riffs and jam with the drummer until they come up with something they like, then send it to Maynard who writes the lyrics and drops them into the mix and on top of the music. They have had 3 mixers/producers across their 6 EP's and albums, but the band has always had a hand in that too, as they have a very precise sound they want. You've been sucked into the hole, enjoy the ride.✌🤘
your absolutely right bro, we have been sucked into the hole known as "Tool". if your correct about the fact that Maynard writes all the lyrics then this guy is a lyrical genius. make sure you subscribe to the channel stay tuned for more and give us a suggestion on what we should do next.
You mentioned the Fibonacci sequence. It's a part of Sacred Geometry, which is the philology of all things in the universe exist in harmony, whether it be a material object an individual or a space and vibration, in regard to sound and hence music. You will notice the lyrics follow this in most songs and give you the tools for inner harmony and a path to personal enlightenment and growth. It's up to the listener to figure out how to use these tools on their own. Hope that helps.✌🤘
@@wolf-kissed , thank you. Yes Maynard is a main cog, but you can't dismiss anyone in the band. When they play they all become one. It's only by Devine intervention, that these four incredible musicians came together at a point of time to amaze us. Truly miraculous.
FYI: Adam Jones, Tool's guitar player does all of their videos which are trippy A.F.!!!! I ended up answering that question to win front row tickets to one of the 3 concerts I went to of Tool. You should DEFINITELY check out some of their videos if you haven't already- it's TRULY an experience for your mind and body- totally another level!!! And yes, Maynard writes all his own lyrics. Love love love your channel and you guys are so insightful and passionate about every song you review! Thank you a MILLION TIMES for all your reactions, honesty and input about every song you listen to and comment on in your channel!!! Oh, and by the way, since you mentioned Radiohead, you absolutely HAVE to check out Radiohead live singing their song "Street Spirit"- absolutely UNREAL vocals, lyrics, and coming from someone who plays guitar, insane rhythm and complexity in the guitars. Totally mind blowing in every way possible! Thanks so VERY much for all you guys react to and share with all of us, and your personalities are MINT!!! Keep doing YOU cause you are both so entertaining and wise and it's SO refreshing to find people who are totally open minded and honest! Thank you so very much for your channel and honest and incredibly shameless raw reactions to everything! Rare quality to see and hear nowadays, and mad respect for not being afraid to just be yourselves and do you! Laura P. from Boston ❤❤❤
It's just really hard for me to compare across genres. I'd say in the top tier for rock and metal music though. If it's not in the top 500 as the previous commenter said to me thats more because theres just such a sheer volume of music that gets made. But truly I could not name 500 songs I like better. But I also pretty much hate pop and rap because even if they sing great or are super clever they just dont have the musicianship to keep me hooked or the lyrical content to get me to care. I dont need any more stupid songs about getting fucked up and having sex and making money. I got bored of hearing about all of it by the time I was even a teenager. I like tool so much just cause its different. Wish there were more bands like them so I can stop being accused of pretentiousness. Not my fault market demand is shallow and stupid and our culture doesnt give a shit about anything other than sex and money and catchy little 4 bar beats you can rap to or gyrate to. If anyone out there wants to make more tool-type stuff please do I would like more bands to listen too. I'd do it myself but I am a talentless asshole and it's too late for me to try and master instruments and music theory.
The Band: lead vocals- Maynard James Keenan, guitar- Adam Jones, bass- Justin Chancellor, drums- Danny fucking Carey. Fun fact: Adam Jones worked in Hollywood in the 90s and was part of the SFX teams for Jurassic Park, Ghostbuster 2, and a bunch of others. Also, Danny Carey is called "the octopus" by other drummers.
To me TOOL is today’s Pink Floyd/Led Zeppelin/ The Doors. Someone has to carry the torch. Another TOOL banger is 🔥RIGHT IN TWO🔥 Takes on quite a journey!
Thats so crazy you said that because i said the same thing....they remind me so much of a modern day pink floyd... Do us a solid and hit that subscribe button so you can let us know what we did right or wrong in future videos...keep trash talking bro
100% like them or hate them, they're undeniably the most talented band since those days. Dare I say even more talented. Those bands were amazing and deserve all the praise, but sometimes i feel like it's a bit blown out of proportion, and lots of us were raised by parents that listened to them in their prime, so there's the nostalgic factor for them, but we're almost taught to praise them. don't get me wrong, i love them and think they deserve tons of praise. but to put them on such a pedestal that they will forever be untouchable from any modern music to come is absurd. they should always be appreciated because they are in fact good, but also because of their impact on music, but we need to give new music a chance to breathe to bring back the soul in modern music. there is tons of great music today, it's just not given to you from MTV or the radio. Perhaps Spotify is helping a bit, and youtubes algorithm seems to find new music from time to time that jives with me. but yeah, I think Tool is easily today's version of them. i don't think they'll be praised the same way given it's different times and the industry has also changed significantly. and yeah, i do personally think Tool is better than all 3 of those bands, as much as i do like all of them. i can only hope that Tool is kinda like Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd was actually more under the radar to a certain extent than most huge bands back then. They were liked by many, but still weren't nearly as respected as the other bands at the time. Pink Floyd became much bigger as time went on
@@juanmaidana6363 thanks bro....we are so grateful you guys put us up on Tool because we are becoming big fans....do us a favor and hit that subscribe button so we can call you an official Trash Talker and stay tuned for new content.
interesting thing i noticed is that one of the new album's songs called Descending, the opening of the 2nd part near end sounds suspiciously similar to part in Pink Floyd's song Echoes from album Meddle, after the creepy echoes sounds when organs open up again and rest of the band follows or something like that, its hard to describe exactly but I see similarities
To me they are the greatest of all time. They've been my favorite band since I was 16 and I'm 44 now. Couldn't tell you how many concerts I've seen in my life but I have seen Tool 9 times, 3 times I followed then from one location to another the next day. They are one of the rare bands that I believe are better live which is like I said very rare to see.
I totally agree with your post. I first discovered them when I was 17, and now I am 47. I have seen many bands, from Slayer (x6) to Kyuss, to Testament (x4)to The Sword, Primus (x4), Mastodon (3), to COC to QOTSA, to Star gaze like Verve {Storm in Heaven era}(x4), Torche, Spiritualized, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Ride....on and on. There is no band that I have seen live (yet) that can compare to the experience of Tool. It is Cathartic. They are amazing live. From the sound quality to the show in it's entirety. It's fantastic. And your statement about being better live than recorded, I would have to put Clutch (x13) up there as well.
@@muttonmark those are some great bands on that list and a few I’ve seen myself like Slayer, Primus, as well as Les Claypool and His Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, COC, Mastodon. I saw you had Kyuss and was wondering if you saw QOTSA and there it was lol, would have loved to see Kyuss and am still holding out hope for QOTSA. Clutch is one I’ve yet to see but they are definitely on my list. Tool is the only band that actually makes me emotional listening and especially seeing them. After going thru the horrible day I had when Neil Peart passed, I rue the day when I may have to endure the same with anyone from Tool.
They did invent a style of music. They're "painting" a picture in your mind with words and sound. Its incredible. Seeing them live was the best thing I've done in my life. It truly is a spiritual experience.

The entire catalog is worth your time. Parabol/Parabola, Invincible, Lateralus, Jambi. All of them, no joke. I've said it before...you are listening to the 4 greatest individual musicians in the greatest band, playing the greatest songs. I can't wait till Bonnaroo. Coronavirus be damned.
Welcome fella's. I'll be 39 this year and been listening since the 90's. We are the best fans in the world. Cuz the greatest band and musicians to walk this earth deserve it. I'm glad you guys get how good they are and keep listening and learning about these 4 geniuses. Its so awesome to see the younger generations recognizing this band.

Yeah they’re different, We call it the Tool Genre. You earned a sub, to see another fall down the Tool rabbit hole Drummer - Danny Carey, known as :The Octopus” Guitarist- Adam Jones Bassist -Justin Chancellor These guys write all the music first, which takes YEARS. Then once the music is done, Maynard comes in and writes the lyrics to go with the music. Yet at the same time, he treats his voice as another instrument. If you guys listen to Lateralus and Parabol/Parabola, next, you will be convinced of their greatness, guaranteed
Damn the bands you mentioned blew my mind. Subscribing because while you might not know the full story of all things tool you're appreciating them like I did in 92. This band is perfection and will make you forever itch for their brilliant complexity.
Here's how Tool write their music: The musicians, Adam Jones guitar, Justin Chancellor bass and Danny Carey, the great Danny on drums, write the music. This happens in hour long jams, putting bits and parts together, trying different combinations and versions. Only when the musical part is done, Maynard writes the lyrics to the music. It's always this way. It's part of why they need a lot of time for their albums. Enjoy your new favorite band!
Yea we were curious as to how they write their songs so thank you for clearing that up....do us a solid and hit that subscribe button and let us know what we did right or wrong. Thanks again
Trash Talkers I listen to TOOL for over 20 years now and always will listen to them. It’s cool to see reactions from people who discover them and I hope you will enjoy all of their music, there’s a lot to dive in!
Maynard is a crazy talented man. From a military stint, art, lyrics, farming, business management, I don't think the man sleeps. I just wish I had a small fraction of his work ethic. It's insanity.
I'm a Tool fan since 93 I love watching people react to Tool music for the first time I like to live vicariously through them and fall in love with them its the greatest because I remember the first time I heard them in a tattoo shop in Jacksonville N.C. the song was Intolerance please react!! SPIRAL OUT my friends!!
Sorry, Laura P from Boston again... One more tip- if you have never seen or heard "You Lied" by Tool (warning that Maynard is wearing a woman's dress with a long haired woman's wig and fake boobs (cause he is really weird like that- at one of their concerts I attended, he was wearing nithing but black underwear, lol), the song "You Lied", which I discovered on their Box Set for the first time is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! They have a guest guitar player from another band (i can't remember his name, my bad) but you HAVE to check it out or you'll be missing out BIG TIME and as always with Tool, it DOES NOT disappoint! Check out the live performance of this kinda B-side track if theirs - mind altering for SURE! Maynard holds on note towards the end that seems literally IMPOSSIBLE to hold for THAT long, and yet again, he is contorting his body during the note that most experts would say does NOT allow or lend itself to be in a position to "allow" him to sing/scream that note in that key for as long and as powerful in any way shale or form. You HAVE to check it out. For real. I beg you. Thanks again for all you do and for exposing other oeople to Tool's incredibly remarkable songs and lyrics and instrumental genius that SO many people have not taken the tine to FULLY appreciate!!! LP from Boston again,... Absolutely LOVE you guys and respect and appreciate all you do!!! ❤❤❤
Adam Jones is the guitar player as well as the art director for the band. He's also directed all of their music videos. PS - That 25 second scream was real.
Watching you two react to this was a true pleasure. This music touches the soul of some people. I can honestly say that you will realise very soon that they are the greatest. They are the modern day pink floyd. You can understand why the fans are so passionate about this band cant you, have you ever heard anything that has made you sit there like......woooooooooooooow! Unreal. Keep these reactions up guys. React to lateralus as you mentioned it in this video. It may be good to sample a couple of track from their latest album to hear what they are truly capable of. They have only got better with each album. Invincible and pneuma are absolute masterpieces, truly beyond anything else.
Literally clicked on this just to see the scream reaction towards the end of the song. Check out Invincible by Tool. About 7 minutes in is insane, pure genius
And just an FYI: Tool's drunmer, Danny Carey, is the absolute BEST drummer of our time- no doubt. He us a mathematical GENUIS and a big fan of Polyrhythms and the Fibonacci sequence as I believe tou have both questioned and commented on in some of your reaction videos to Tool. He, Danny Carey, is up there with the greatest drummers slightly before "our time" like Neil Pert, John Bonham, etc. He is the icon that all drumners admire and aspire to be like, and as you have heard and seen, it's no wonder why!!!! Live and peace guys... Laura P from Boston again ❤❤❤
That was fun! Welcome to the Tool Army fellas! Thanks for fixing your audio too. You now have a new subscriber. The 'brains' behind Tool's music are: Maynard James Keenan-vocals Adam Jones-guitar Justin Chancellor-bass guitar Danny Carey (The Octopus)-drums Each member is equally talented in musicianship, lyricism, composition, production, etc. They truly are.. genius. All four of them. Great reaction guys. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Adam Jones (the guitarist) and Danny Carey(Drummer). The entire band is phenomenal. I've been a Tool fan for 27 years and wouldn't change it. Danny is my favorite drummer of all time no question. You need to listen to Flood off of their Undertow album the drumming is insane.
Tool - H.W.A.P. Tool - Right In Two But honestly, you can just put their whole discography on shuffle, they don't have a bad song. Whatever you do next by them, is a banger.
Danny Carey is the name of the Beast. And he is considered to be one of, if not the BEST odd time signatures Drummer around. The dude opens fucking portals into new dimensions whilst playing. You two are amazing btw, totally open minded and soaking everything in. New subscriber here. And you are right on the money with Tool being one of the best Bands ever. But do not miss out on Justin Chancellor, the Bass player. He is the glue that keeps it all together imo. And the craziest of the bunch...in a good way. Oh yeah i almost forgot...the Fibbonacci sequence is the following: 1+2=3, 2+3=5, 3+5=8, 5+8=13 and so on. Maynard uses this with his syllables in the song. First word has 1, the second one has 3, the third has 5 and so on. Crazy thing is, he said at the Rogan podcast that it wasn`t intentional on his behalf. But with Maynard you never know..;) So yeah...welcome to the Tool Army lads.
Awesome to see people enjoy this band so much. This is the first track on the album, what a fucking opener. I remember listening to this CD when I was 13 and get my mind absolutly blown. It took my whole teenage years to properly wrap my head around this album. It has ended up being my all time favourite to this day.
Thank you much for watching....we do this for you guys and are thankful that yall put us on all this good music. Make sure to hit the subscribe amd stay tuned for more
Lifelong tool fan. Seen this tour, and 10000 days tour live. My favorite, not even close. I'm almost a little envious when people experience their catalog for the first time.
Maynard only writes the lyrics after all the instrumental are done. The other three are the masterminds behind the songs "formatting." Maynard just cleverly puts in lyrics and cadences as he sees fit.
I enjoy watching you guys. I notice the gentleman on the left catches the lyrics first and his friend on the right hears the instruments first. Love how much you guys feel this music. I struggle to find friends to do this with lol
Their process for creating songs is very interesting. The rest of the band basically makes the music then Maynard writes the lyrics and fits them in with the music. I'm sure they probably make some final adjustments. I love Maynard's voice. He can scream and he can sing beautifully like an angel. I also love all the unique quitar work, never heard anything like it before. And Danny of course is a god. The first time I heard them was when the video first aired on MTV headbanger's ball. I was immediately obsessed. I was like who are these guys? I must have more and bought the album the next day. I'm so glad I stayed up past midnight to see this insane video and hear them.
Just Subbed for more Tool! Keep it coming and we will be here. Hit the new album! I saw this band in 92 and dozens of times since. The finally put out a new album after 13 years and it was all tears for me. Cheers from WA state
Their music follows traditional classical music. The opening, the slow down, the crescendo, first verse, bridge, 2nd verse, chorus if your lucky, another bridge, decrescendo, build up to the end, Finale. Love it.
"That drummer is amazing" You are very correct. However, he's not just amazing, Danny Carey is the greatest drummer to ever exist. Of course that's just my opinion but it's a highly agreed upon one and one that I'd stick behind to my grave. Danny Carey is both the reason I started playing drums and the reason I quit lol
and you say "DMT" lol one of their songs is about a dude actually tripping on DMT(if its the same shit you're talking about) and seeing aliens, it's hilarious. Rosetta Stoned, but usually ppl get a little more understanding of Tool before they do that one it's pretty complex.
love seeing people experience tool and apc for the first time , it’s such an experience . I’ll never forget the first time i heard the grudge scream literally chills.. i agree with you guys , tool is it own style of music , i’ve had friends that are only into certain types of music that say they LOVE tool .
7:40 I was watching a video a couple months ago, and the guy said Tool was "Euphoric Rock", and that's the term that seems to really fit, and what I've been using to describe them ever since. They definitely have their own style. Great reaction. You got a new sub from me. Welcome to the Tool Army. ♥
TOOL is the GOAT imo. The song Lateralus and its mathematical timing is out of this world. Give it a listen and look into it. I promise you'll be blown away
It's good that you are recognizing the mastery of the writing and musicianship - Tool is one of the few bands in history where every member of the band is an absolute genius. Soak it in - spiral out.
Maynard do write his lyrics, the interesting thing is that he always waits for the song to be finished so he writes with the mood the music sets. That's why his lyrics goes so well with the genius musicianship of the other band members.
Maynard ..writes all the lyrics ..but only after danny ..adam ..and justin ..make the song ..he in a sense becomes another instrument!.. Also if you did not know maynard is also the vocialist of a perfect circle ...as well as pusifer ...all while owning and operating a vineyard/winery...and is also avid in Brazilian ju jujitsu purple belt ...not trying to sound like a fan boy. ...this man is a force !
I'm beyond joyed that you, as rappers get it. "Beautiful" is the perfect word. This is only the 2md video I've watched of y'all reaction. Much love to the newest members of the tool nation, the church of Maynard. Welcome, we've cookies in the back
@@MCHiphopotamus you need to go back and relisten. Pneuma is arguably their greatest song. If you listen to the slight nuances in that and the synchronicty . . . sublime would be the word youre looking for. If you listen to Invincible and Descending and come away feeling nothing you might be chemically imbalanced hate to say.
Tool is an American rock band from Los Angeles. Formed in 1990, the group's line-up includes vocalist Maynard James Keenan, guitarist Adam Jones and drummer Danny Carey. Justin Chancellor has been the band's bassist since 1995, replacing its original bassist Paul D'Amour. This song is about people who hold grudges against other people. It's about how holding a grudge will only bring negativity to everyone involved, you included. If you are holding a grudge, you are just trying to control the situation (Calculate what you will/Will not tolerate). If you refuse to forgive, then you are never going to grow."Give away the stone Let the ocean take and transmutate This cold and fated anchor Give away the stone Let the waters kiss and transmutate These leaden grudges into gold." The "stone" or "anchor" is the grudge, if you give it up, it can turn into something beautiful and valuable. Anyone like Maynard...oh wait no one is like Maynard having three successful major active bands isn't allowing others to write his lyrics: Wear the grudge like a crown of negativity Calculate what we will or will not tolerate Desperate to control all and everything Unable to forgive your scarlet lettermen Clutch it like a cornerstone, otherwise it all comes down Justify denials and grip 'em to the lonesome end Clutch it like a cornerstone, otherwise it all comes down Terrified of being wrong, ultimatum prison cell Saturn ascends Choose one or ten Hang on or be humbled again Humbled again Clutch it like a cornerstone, otherwise it all comes down Justify denials and grip 'em to the lonesome end Saturn ascends, comes round again Saturn ascends, the one, the ten Ignorant to the damage done Wear the grudge like a crown of negativity Calculate what we will or will not tolerate Desperate to control all and everything Unable to forgive these scarlet lettermen Wear the grudge like a crown Desperate to control Unable to forgive and sinking deeper Defining Confining And sinking deeper Controlling Defining And we're sinking deeper Saturn comes back around to show you everything Let's you choose what you will and will not see and then Drags you down like a stone or lifts you up again Spits you out like a child, light and innocent Saturn comes back around Lifts you up like a child or drags you down like a stone To consume you till you choose to let this go Choose to let this go Give away the stone Let the oceans take and trans mutate this cold and fated anchor Give away the stone Let the waters kiss and trans mutate these leaden grudges into gold Let go
Yall got it, you're on that plane of existence now..Tool is fucking mind bending and I am so fulfilled watching yours and anyone's first reaction. Keep riding down that spiral fellas Also read up on Saturn Return, it will make you really think about things
Typical Tool fashion, taking quite a straightforward concept and turning it into absolute diamonds. The lyrics are about growing up and developing, losing your spite, grudges, excuses and justifications, and calculated tolerance, and becoming a collected and mature individual. A lot of the Lateralus album is about growing and sloughing off your ego. The band absolutely weaves a web on this track in particular, glad you enjoyed the lyrics especially!
Expanding on this, basically all of their albums since at least Aenima have this sort of thematic approach - at least lyrically - where they are a stage of life. Lateralus was like a metamorphosis from their younger, harder days of Opiate/Undertow where there's clearly raw energy and aggression, into a later stage. Then 10,000 days is like getting older and Fear Innoculum is like a mid-life kind of thing when you look at songs like Invincible where the lyrics are quite on the nose about getting older etc.
I believe Tool Reminds me of all the Greatest bands. I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. All combined into one Awesome band. Tool is and Always will be on another level. Their music has given me the opportunity to open my mind to so many other genre's. The Enlightenment in music is only the beginning.
If you have done DMT , you recognize DMT art instantly. Also yes, Maynard writes his own shit, and if you say he puts a lot thought into his work its an understatement. I never had a favorite band until i listened to AEnema while reading the lyrics for the first time.
"Wear your grudge like a crown", etc. was not an advice, or even a resignation to reality, but an exposition and criticism. It seems like it was not apparent to you... They drag you down, so "let go" and "change these leaden grudges into gold".
They paused the song right at that transition, and talked for a while, so they didn't catch the power of it musically, or the emotional shift in the song.
TOOL is a 4 piece band, Maynard on Vocals, Danny Carey on Drums, Adam Jones on Guitar, Justin Chancellor on bass. The music they create is dubbed as "Prog " (Progressive ) Prog Rock/Metal and "art rock" Progressive metal (sometimes known as prog metal) is a fusion genre melding heavy metal and progressive rock that combines the loud "aggression"[3] and amplified guitar-driven sound of the former with the more experimental, cerebral or "pseudo-classical" compositions of the latter.[3] The music typically showcases the extreme technical proficiency of the performers, and usually uses unorthodox harmonies as well as complex rhythms with frequent meter changes and intense syncopation. While the genre emerged towards the late-1980s, it was not until the 1990s that progressive metal achieved widespread success.[3] Queensrÿche, Dream Theater, Tool, Symphony X,[4] Shadow Gallery, King's X, and Fates Warning are a few examples of progressive metal bands who achieved commercial success.[5] Soon after the rise of the genre's popularity, other thrash and death metal bands started to incorporate elements of progressive music in their work.
I remember when this album came out. I was a junior in high school. We cut class the day this was released went to our local tower records. ( a store where you went to buy albums and music associated things. + dragon ball z movies ). Listened to it on the ride back to school and it was just a really great time.
I think I am all caught up with your videos on Tool for the most part. I'll check out The Pot too. You guys mentioned Lateralus here, that song is definately work checking out. Also so glad you guys found Tool, and that we found you too, it's just one big inspiration.
For my friends who have never done psychedelics but like Tool I tell them the crescendo of the song Lateralus is like peaking on acid. No joke. It’s pure bliss.
Man you guys are really on point with your estimations on the background.. it makes me really wanna watch hearing you guys actually get down to it on the level that most of us got into it on. If theres ANYTHING I could say to help is, the mix on the tunes to voice ratio, and man, I dunno about most people but if yoire gonna go into a point I do not mind you pausing it and going back!! Love your work, keep doing what you're doing. You remind me of me and my best mate, white/brown duo, into rap, but ones into metal and ones into rap.. so.. thanks boys!!
I'm 34 now, and this brings me back to highschool. I would pop the CD into my Walkman and walk to the bus stop to school every weekday and listen to this album. It was amazing.
The drummer is the backbone and a legend. He plays nearly all percussion you hear in their music. No one comes in to play bongos or some of the other sounds. It's all him. As I recall, Maynard said the others lay down the music and he writes the lyrics usually after. Anyway, if you want to see Danny Carey in action, here's a link to him on HD cams that is off their new album. th-cam.com/video/FssULNGSZIA/w-d-xo.html it gets interesting around 7 minutes in.
Tools been my favourite band since I was 18 and Lateralus is my favourite album of all time. Adam, Justin and Danny write all the music and Maynard adds the lyrics at the end pretty much. So cool to see guys like you appreciate brilliant music like TOOL.
I nearly met the artist Alex Grey once. Lol. I was at work and while I was on lunch, he came into my store to shop. I've always regretted missing him. Lol. He was in town for an art festival. I've had his hardcover art book, Transfigurations, for decades. You guys should check it out. He has a website and temple called The Sacred Mirrors. He draws humans without skin to remove all prejudices by his viewers. He is someone that understands humans on a physical and metaphysical level. I always got his art calendar each year I could find one. And for TOOL, you guys need to see the video for Parabol/Parabola (it's a 2 songs in the same video) if you haven't already. Thanks for the video guys.
AWWWW, I missed yall's real-time reaction-vibes across the globe by a few months. No worries. You know, I didn't have any Reactors-time left in my weekly schedule guys. Will have to shift some things around. Cheers for cranking it up as well.

“That drummer” aka Danny Carey is a god amongst men.
Todd Harrington can’t stop watching his drum cam from the Boston concert. The man is a beast. He’ll be 59 yrs old in May. Dude.
Stefanie Brauer He makes it look easy. I feel ya, it’s insane how good he is.
He is the best drummer alive.
As a drummer myself I can 100 prencent guarantee you your right he youses the most insane polyrhythms and his hi hat and tom work is beyond amasing and he can still do this in a 3/4 time signetur.
Danny Carey created the Earth so He'd have somewhere to drum.
Thanks for posting this, I think it's so important people know what really goes into these masterpieces and Maynard alone deserves so much respect
@@wolf-kissed , thank you. Yes Maynard is a main cog, but you can't dismiss anyone in the band. When they play they all become one. It's only by Devine intervention, that these four incredible musicians came together at a point of time to amaze us. Truly miraculous.

You should DEFINITELY check out some of their videos if you haven't already- it's TRULY an experience for your mind and body- totally another level!!! And yes, Maynard writes all his own lyrics. I think Grudge is a top 10 song all-time... any genre.
My vote for #1 Tool song all time
@@das4yyz887 MIne too.
oof.... matter of taste, mate.... loving me some tool but can't commit it even to the top 500 all time songs
@@danr154 look it... tool makes the top 500 for me with MANY entries... this not being one of them
The Band: lead vocals- Maynard James Keenan, guitar- Adam Jones, bass- Justin Chancellor, drums- Danny fucking Carey. Fun fact: Adam Jones worked in Hollywood in the 90s and was part of the SFX teams for Jurassic Park, Ghostbuster 2, and a bunch of others. Also, Danny Carey is called "the octopus" by other drummers.

Pink Floyd became much bigger as time went on
Not just Right in Two takes you on a journey, Lost Keys and Rossetta Stoned are 15 minutes of joy, you need to check them guys, welcome to TOOL 😎😎😎😎

interesting thing i noticed is that one of the new album's songs called Descending, the opening of the 2nd part near end sounds suspiciously similar to part in Pink Floyd's song Echoes from album Meddle, after the creepy echoes sounds when organs open up again and rest of the band follows or something like that, its hard to describe exactly but I see similarities
Best tool reaction channel. Y'all are so authentic, it feels like I'm just chilling with the homies. Much love to all.
So true! Live, they are just amazing!
I cannot wait to see them one day!! I first heard Sober in 8th grade 1990 and have been a fan since! I ❤️ this band!!

But with Maynard you never know..;)
So yeah...welcome to the Tool Army lads.

Lifelong tool fan. Seen this tour, and 10000 days tour live. My favorite, not even close. I'm almost a little envious when people experience their catalog for the first time.
Love the initial speechless reaction. Welcome to the TooL Army guys.
The drummer, Danny Carey, may be one of the best drummers of all time. They are that talented, they have been doing it for more than 25 years.

Anyone like Maynard...oh wait no one is like Maynard having three successful major active bands isn't allowing others to write his lyrics:
Wear the grudge like a crown of negativity
Calculate what we will or will not tolerate
Desperate to control all and everything
Unable to forgive your scarlet lettermen
Clutch it like a cornerstone, otherwise it all comes down
Justify denials and grip 'em to the lonesome end
Clutch it like a cornerstone, otherwise it all comes down
Terrified of being wrong, ultimatum prison cell
Saturn ascends
Choose one or ten
Hang on or be humbled again
Humbled again
Clutch it like a cornerstone, otherwise it all comes down
Justify denials and grip 'em to the lonesome end
Saturn ascends, comes round again
Saturn ascends, the one, the ten
Ignorant to the damage done
Wear the grudge like a crown of negativity
Calculate what we will or will not tolerate
Desperate to control all and everything
Unable to forgive these scarlet lettermen
Wear the grudge like a crown
Desperate to control
Unable to forgive and sinking deeper
Defining
Confining
And sinking deeper
Controlling
Defining
And we're sinking deeper
Saturn comes back around to show you everything
Let's you choose what you will and will not see and then
Drags you down like a stone or lifts you up again
Spits you out like a child, light and innocent
Saturn comes back around
Lifts you up like a child
or drags you down like a stone
To consume you till you choose to let this go
Choose to let this go
Give away the stone
Let the oceans take and trans mutate this cold and fated anchor
Give away the stone
Let the waters kiss and trans mutate these leaden grudges into gold
Let go
Yall got it, you're on that plane of existence now..Tool is fucking mind bending and I am so fulfilled watching yours and anyone's first reaction. Keep riding down that spiral fellas
Also read up on Saturn Return, it will make you really think about things
“Almost psychedelic “. Saw them in 2001 and that’s the best way to describe the experience of hearing and seeing them live.
Tempest!! Lateralus! NOW!!
Well said my man!
They paused the song right at that transition, and talked for a while, so they didn't catch the power of it musically, or the emotional shift in the song.
A crown of negativity
A 25-second scream, the third longest scream in any song, ever.
Epic reaction too, thanx for feeling music this way
I've been enjoying Tool since 2006 and to hear you guys listen and react to The Grudge, it felt like I was hearing it for the first time again
I often get away from my roots and your series of Tool Tuesdays has made me snap out of the duldrum. Love it, love your reactions. Good s**t!
I can't wait for your next reaction. You are going to Spiral into the arms of the Army...like it or not.
We're just grateful you guys let us be a part of the Tool Army
They are masters of layering sounds and tempos and changing them up and braiding them together.
Tool an absolute journey bro!!! Think of the lyrics. Absolutely awesome
AWWWW, I missed yall's real-time reaction-vibes across the globe by a few months. No worries. You know, I didn't have any Reactors-time left in my weekly schedule guys. Will have to shift some things around. Cheers for cranking it up as well.
