- Here is my reaction to hearing The Grudge by TOOL for the first time. I hope you enjoy this one. I have been seeing a few comments from people claiming that I am lying and that I have heard the song before. It amazes me that somehow certain people know more about me than I do myself... All my reactions are genuine, I never upload a song I've already heard. Anyway, with that being said, I hope you enjoy todays video!

Pause when you want bruv. It's your channel.
Hell! Rewind if you want
Exactly. We’ve heard this song a million times. We’re here for your reaction. Take your time. It’s Tool. It’s a process.
Lol its youtube annoy the public channel can get shut down and yeah can pause but dont be killing the vibe by making it constant and ramble too long in between is all ppl ask
@@phantom8906 take a break. Log off social media.
Nuh uh its my channel
You think you like it now, wait until you listen to it for the 100th time. It just gets better and better. Been listening to tool for 31 years, still my favourite band ever.
You hit the nail on the head; the more you listen the more you love it. I agree. Best band to ever exist for me.
I couldn't agree more, I am 45, and been a constant, I have been lucky enough to see them in a few countries and about 33 times ( if we include festivals)...you are either a TOOL fan our you are not..I can't help those that are not..
Fair to say for about every Tool song IMO.
@@ssacra22 I agree, I think that's why we can enjoy there music year after year, so much to take in and unwrap.
Danny kills the drums in this one. Pneuma next!! Studio. Then Danny's drum cam.
When doesn't he kill it? He's a beast
We want this
He told it was the hardest song to perform live on drums.
Yeah definitely studio version first and live then
The smile on his face towards the end of the performance solidifies that comment@@achafilms3968
True Tool fans will never complain about the length of your video or the amount of times you pause…. As long as you back up and catch the changes again 😉
You’re doing a beautiful job. Thank you for giving us the experience of hearing these anew through your ears and mind !
You can always tell someone's first time hearing tool bc they bob thier head off beat trying to find the rhythm
You’d think that would be obvious too yet some people are so certain I’ve heard them before. Like not everyone has heard every song in the world 🤣
@@MollyBoyTV we know you're legit...
@@mattblatchley2061as a OGT 😊 I concur
Yeah, you can't bob along with Tool like you do with most other music - you will be quickly out of sync when they change it up (because they WILL change it up!). That's what I love about their music, but I think that is why my wife doesn't like them. She just likes that classic rock-n-roll sound and Tool are anything but that!
It reminds me of the Doors - the producers at the time didn't like it or get it because they thought no one would listen to their stuff because you can't dance to it! 🤣
@@tattoodude8946 the songs on thier first studio album undertow are a bit more straightforward.. they get more an more complex as you go through the later albums .. songs like crawl away.. swamp song.. intolerance etc
9:13 "Give me a sec, bruv" 😂😂 One of my favorite reactions from people discovering Tool is that sense of utter confusion lol. The "I have no idea wtf is happening but it's the coolest shit I've ever heard" kinda look. Keep spiraling, these songs get better every time you hear them 🤘
Got goosebumps when you said "you have to sink deeper into tool". One of the reasons i got hooked and now in the cult.
I’m a 50 year old woman that’s been an OG Tool army fan. Let me tell you kid.. I am so proud that a you d man like you can understand and appreciate this music. There are many of the Tool fans that can be real assholes about newbies of Tool music. You pause and comment when you want.. you should!! They don’t like it.. they can go listen to the music and not watch reactions.. I don’t get it. It’s a reaction channel.. you go!! I love what your doing.. and welcome!! Ride the spiral and if you get a chance to see them.. it will blow your mind! Seen them probably 25 times and seeing them again on Feb 5th in Denver Colorado!!! ❤️❤️❤️
You have to listen to Parabol & Parabola man, those two songs together uffffffff makes me chills to only thinks about it 🤟🏼
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Yes!
I second this vote!
Agreed!
Absolutely!.. Two conjoined songs in one awesome rocking masterpiece..🤟😎
MB - Pause away! Elizabeth on The Charismatic Voice pauses CONSTANTLY and she has over a million subs. We can find the uncut song elsewhere - we're here for your reaction :)
Wait until you hear lost keys/Rosetta stoned
Danny said from a stamina point of view this is the hardest song to play. Understandable really. I imagine from a technical standpoint Pneuma or Rosetta Stoned must be up there.
I think he said (could be a different time the question was asked of him) the overall more difficult song to play was Invincible.
@@robertwebb7152 and 7empest from the same interview.
His equivalent to Haake's Bleed
Danny did say the newer stuff is hard, but this song is hard on his wrists as well. I just watched it the other day. lol I love Danny!
You should check out Sober or Jambi next! Jambi especially is a journey.
Their first big hit! Probably my favorite song...
If you like Maynard, check out “A Perfect Circle”. That is his other band. Same voice, two different sounds. For your next Tool song, I highly recommend “Aenema”.
And Puscifer
The remedy is a great one
Also equally incredible.
3 wizards and an Octopus sat down.....
Hardest song to play on drums cramps your hands so bad
I have to disagree with a lots of comments in the chat, I think you shouldn't touch Fear Inoculum yet. try the whole Aenima and Lateralus albums first, they will set your ears and blow your mind
spiral out
agree.. FI is a final level
This!
I agree. Move through the earlier albums, leave FI for last.
An interesting paradox happened when music streaming services were created.
Several bands like Tool took quite a while to work through the legalities of putting their music on these services, meanwhile the younger generation abandoned traditional “radio stations”. That opened this alternate reality where a 10-15 year generation of people straight up missed out on bands like Tool and Metallica almost entirely.
Now we’re seeing this TH-cam influx of people like this young man being exposed to music many of us grew up on for the first time, some 20 years later, and being blown away.
I’ve been going down this long rabbit hole of finding more and more people reacting to Tool via TH-cam and I just can’t stop lol.
I can’t hear Tool for the first time again, but in some weird way I’m reliving it through others. It’s like seeing your child take their first steps… over and over and over again!
Same bro, same. Like reliving Tool vicariously 😂
Us old Tool fans are living vicariously through the younger generation 😉
The drummers name is Danny Carey widely regarded as one of the all time best
When I want to listen to TOOL, I'll go listen to it. I'm here to hear your thoughts on the music. So... Pause it and tell me! 👍🏽🌀
P.s. pause when you want and F them haters.
Descending please and thank you. Ill post on every video if i have to lol. HAHAHA
Let him do the Fear Inoculum album last, I think he needs to move through all the previous albums first. FI is the maturation of all that came before.
That was his scream for that long, people are amazed by it
Best reaction’s, almost look like you wish you had been born 20 years earlier just to enjoy all this when it was happening
Fun fact: Danny Carey says this is the toughest song to perform for him.
Ohmygod you did it. This is going to be amazing. Pausing work early today for this.
Spiral out !!
Love the vids and vicariously watching you on your tool journey... keep it up and enjoy the ride! As others have said, you should do Parabol/Parabola soon. Also consider (my favorite tool song) Right In Two. And, not sure if you're referencing lyrics while listening, but I would strongly recommend that (especially for the two songs I mentioned)! Given the mixes, it's not always easy to understand what MJ is saying, and his messages add whole new levels to the songs. Spiral out!
god i love watching people experience tool songs for the first time. it's downright magical to see the initial shock and confusion give way to awe and an overwhelming sense of "i don't know what the fuck that was but i need more of it immediately." beautiful.
57 yo from the US...Thank God there is hope for your generation yet. Tool will grab you. Shake you up, Spit you out, and grab you back again. Go see them live in May.
You’re on a fantastic journey here man
Dig into the lyrics, lyric meaning will blow your mind
Jambi
Right in two
Invincible
All good ones to continue your journey with
Great reactions!!!
keep listening bro, it only gets better and better, and always remember, you're currently discovering your favorite band lol
Parabol & Parabola Together!
Yeeeessssssssssss!!! Such an epic piece of music, and the most beautifully chaotic outro I’ve ever heard.
I think you’re ready for another one of their ultimate masterpieces, Descending!!!
I support your pausing, it can help with copy strikes. however PLEASE when you pause go back 10 seconds or so so you can get back in the groove. I would rather you go back a bit so you don't miss something. Keep up the journey!
If I wanted to hear the whole song without pausing I can listen the official video.
I don’t pause for copyright strikes because it never helps me at all. I do usually rewind though but sometimes I forget
I love this one. The message is amazing. Let it go! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! ❤️❤️❤️ the soundscapes they create in their music is incredible… you go on a journey with Tool
once again asking for parabol/parabola, the transition between the songs makes me ascend every time i hear it
Seconded
thirdededed
Fourthed😊

June 2001, I walk into a FYE music store before my shift at The Cheesecake Factory and they had like 20 or so albums up on the wall with headphones to listen to them before you buy. I see the new Tool album and think the cover art is bizarre yet cool. I toss on the headphones and listen to The Grudge as the album opener. I proceeded to stand there and listen to this whole song thinking it was the best fucking thing I ever heard. Their preceding Aenima album is great but this was just a whole different level of a different kind of awesomeness. I listened to the song 3 times since I couldn’t pause or rewind. I walked in late to my shift because of this song! After I made enough money in tips, I ran over to the store to buy it so it couldn’t sell out. I couldn’t stop listening to it over and over. One of the best songs ever in my humble opinion and I love watching others react to it imagining myself the first time I heard it in that FYE store in 2001. Great reaction!
React to...DECENDING...best Song from Tool....its a real masterpeace 🤯🤯
This is deep water, friend. Enjoy.
Coheed and Cambria, Mars Volta and Chevelle -Self destructor
NICE! Cant wait for the reaction
Now thats how you open an album!
If you're going to dabble into Salival, which is a live album, many are suggesting Push It. I personally think You Lied is the best song on that album. Hope to hear it from you soon. Total banger. 🌀
The idea of this song is that by the time saturn has done one rotation around the sun, 30yrs have passed on earth. Suggesting when you hit 30 you might wanna drop some baggage from your youth because sadly it is over. Just my interpretation.
I have been listening to Tool since '95. I experienced Tool Live at Roskilde Festival in 2001. They started the show with this song. The Grudge. AMAZING live band. WOW!!
Love what your doing. Try ( A Perfect Circle )
So good to see someone new finding this Journey. Glad you are enjoing it.
One of my Favorite TOOL songs
You should check out Fight Fire With Fire by Metallica, its my favourite song from the Ride The Lightning album!
in each and everyone life of ours there is a point where you've never heard of the Tool before. After that we are all more aware human beings. Period
The long Maynard scream and Danny drum outro are in a league of their own!
I haven't seen anyone recommend Part of Me by tool yet.
There are quite a few hard rock and heavy metal songs with great screams in them (Iron Maiden's "Number of the Beast " comes to mind), but this one takes the cake!
Do yourself a favour watch, Tool Sober Live at Reading Festival 1993 Remastered.
Everyone makes the same face when reacting to TOOL :P Confused yet awestruck. Love it. Enjoy the journey, bud.
Spiral Out Brother!
Tool is that band that you either love it above all or you don’t get it! You’ve never heard it but it’s familiar to you and the chills you feel and tears are your brain hearing what it’s always needed to hear! Just listen don’t fight it or analyze it right now and research into “prying open your third eye “ that might help you understand where this rabbit hole leads you
Adam Jones designed and created Tool vids, tour posters, etc... also, he was the art director of Jurassic Park, etc... the dude shoots lightning if he chooses!😮 Great channel, man.
Dude. You are fucking funny. "I can't deal with how many changes there are". Best line in tool reaction I've heard
I only heard of Tool bc of reaction videos. So not everyone is automatically familiar with them😮. PS I really dig them.
If you want to branch out into maybe try Opeth - Ghost of Perdition
They do longer, more complex songs as well, and have a mix of clean and growly vocals.
Live Drum cam video of Pneuma! It'll blow your mind!
Bad ass intro...Followed by some warm up riffs and then you get your face shredded off! This is how you start off an album!!
Start doing some Skeep Token too, great band. Start with ascensionism.
in the meantime... Go and check Danny Carey, performing the song "triad" live. Jawdropping.
Your "WTF" look after every song. Those few seconds just kill me every time.
Keep doing what you're doing mate
Nah, you can always tell a prior tool fan, their music is too epic to pretend. I should start reactions about songs I know and love cuz I wanna share my passion lol but then it's just watching me while listening to music hahah
Genuine brother. Every song is on another level. Keep it up
My favorite Tool song
Yeah me too, i think the song goes straight into his playlist 😅

The people who complain about pausing are only here for the song. That's not engaging to me.
Of course, more Tool! You'll have fun watching Pneuma with the Danny Cam, I think. Anywho, more bands: Jinjer!!! Rage Against The Machine, Twelve Foot Ninja. And Jinjer!!! again. Tool and Jinjer. Lots and lots of Tool and Jinjer. See ya, MollyBoy.
If your channel gets stuck on tool, it will replicate my life since I first heard them
Hypnotic. I think that's the word you were looking for.
Hey bro, I hadn't listened to this song since like forever and that just put me down on my knees looking up and wondering why? and felt like I haven't heard it enough, thanks for that reaction, it was fire.
Also I wanted to suggest another great band, "DREAM THEATER", just like "TOOL", the complexity in their songs is overwhelming, not saying they play the same style, never, but complexity is these band's just another regular activity and just like Tool, too complex, give it a try, start with "This Dying Soul" you won't regret it! I'm totally confident in that, good luck with that, you'll thank me sometime
I'd be here for a full Undertow or Ænima listen.
uuuuh, this will be a treat!
Don’t let people crap on you about how you run your videos because at the end of the day it is your channel and you should be allowed to pause whenever you want and I realize that There are some people that just want to enjoy the music, but with bands like tool, there are things that you can’t keep to yourself because there’s so much talent and raw power going on there. Something has to be said about it and if you were to gather up all your thoughts and then re-record the end, it’s not really a genuine reaction because you’ve had time to think about it.. I am just happy that you’re enjoying tool as much as I have and still do and I’m also glad that you’re experiencing it for the first time because it makes me remember when I experienced it for the first time and how I felt getting to live vicariously through someone else looking at it from their perspective is really what these videos are all about for me.
I'm a huge Tool fan. Honestly every song is great. If you enjoy this band I recommend reacting to these other 90s/2000s bands if you never heard of them:
Deftones
Nine Inch Nails
Alice in Chains
Sound Garden
Korn
Slipknot
A Perfect Circle
Puscifer
Sevendust
Dream Theater
Static X
Chevelle
Mudvayne
Nonpoint
Coal Chamber
Rage Against the Machine
Incubus
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Mastodon
Rammstein
Pappa Roach
Linkin Park
Here for just about all of these!
Forgot Hum
You lost me at Linkin Park
TOOLARMY 💯🔥
Pushit
Ttheir song is on repeat for me. they keep getting better with each album 😍 I'll leave you with a request. You have to react to October Ends' new song, it's mind-blowing!
Great reaction!! These guys are the GOAT!!
Please see them live man. By far the best concert I've ever seen and I've been to over 300 different shows by different bands.
Don't listen to the haters. I can tell by the look in your face you are hearing these songs for the first time. That can't be faked.
Better be getting them tickets bruh 💨🥦😎🌀
Danny Carey Drum Solo. Pneuma. Prepare for mind body separation… (in 3, 2, 1, 🔥)
thing is with tool whether you listen to them as a whole or follow one of the four musicians individually, you're still left thinking "fuck me" have a nose at their "live" salival album molly namely "pushit"(salival version)i mean they all go off in the second half of that song but adam jones hits you with a sonic barrage that is a jawdropper, his control of reverb, distortion and feedback are something else.great reaction and have a good day mate
Wait until you find Opeth
That's all those wild time signature changes, man...these guys are fantastic musicians, but if you listen to too much Tool you won't be able to get girls anymore 😝
Also Pusifer
Pretty sure this entire song is in 5/8 but there are hella poly meters going on to make it feel like the time signature changed. I will say during the 28second scream there are 3 measures of 5 and then a fourth measure of 6 and they do that four times, but that’s the only time they change their time signature in this song. It has to be the best album opener ever
@@johncarpenter3751 interesting...this is a song that I am not familiar with...I know mostly their radio hits...which there are a crap load of, of course... haven't done the deep dive ...I joke around but these guys are amazing
@@johncarpenter3751I counted 5/4 the whole time, but the subdivisions keep changing. The main riff is 4 repetitions of 5/16, totaling one measure of 5/4. And then, they play in 10/8 for a long time, which is equivalent to 5/4 in terms of time length, but quite different in terms of feel
@@mattblatchley2061 bruh, go listen to Third Eye it will blow your mind. But listen to Hush first, it’s only 2 minutes long and from their first EP but I want you to see the jump in style and awesomeness in just 5 years
More live with Maynard performing like Sober Live at the Reading Festival UK August 22th 1993
Also… a PSA for all my lovely humans… I am a music teacher AND a yoga instructor - this song is therapy. It’s such a “release”…
“Let go, let go, let go..”
This song is my life mantra to keep moving onward
100% agree! Tool-therapy is part of my life!
Tool Army for decades, & watching your first reaction to The Pot, I knew you’d never heard them in the first number of seconds! There are just a lot of reactors now, ignore the haters & keep loving the journey. It’s mind & body. Use their album art & never official videos 🧠 Finally (maybe once you’ve heard a few more), watch the interviews Rick Beato did with MJK & recently Danny. MJK almost NEVER talks Tool, so it’s a rare one. He writes the lyrics last, once the first 3 wizards have (mostly) finished the instrumentals. Adam (guitarist) is also a visual artist (did special effects for Jurassic Park & a bunch of others, left that career for Tool), both with the music vids & graphics at live shows. Get yourself to one asap & recap the experience!
You should check out.... Right in Two... it's anther banger from the 10,000 days album. You won't be disappointed. It has some deep meaning like alot of the songs they do. Loving the videos

You can’t compare this to metallica, bro
Metallica is kids having fun jamming with their epiphones compared to Tool
IDK who is thinking you've heard this before. I would never expect anyone under 30 to be familiar with TOOL. I would be pleasantly surprised if they did know, but would think nothing of it if they didn't. I was born in the 1980's and even I didn't get into TOOL until I was in my 30's.
Love that your generation has this as kind of classic... This is my favorite of their bigger songs... They opened with it in 2017 in Fairfax
By the way the lead singer of Tool (Maynard James Keenan) also is in 2 other music projects "Puscifer" and "A Perfect Circle" check them both out I recommend "Remedy" from Puscifer and "Passive" from A Perfect Circle! Cheers my friend and spiral out !!
