      Just take into account his 12M subscriber channel, with most, if not all video above 1M views. Add to that, the sponsor money + stuffs, LTT store, ad revenue from his high traffic LTT forum, and probably some freelance job, if some corporate wants him to come as a system consultant, or something. That's just lazy planning. You still get a potentially noisy AIO pump and the design typical vulnerability for failure (gunk buildup, failure of the cheap ass pump, liquid evaporation). AIOs are expensive but yet questionable in quality. And the less questionable start to hit custom loop pricing. Also I wonder if vibration just in the socket is such a great idea over a long period. Maybe the soldering joints won't like it.
      When the air cooler fails only the fan can possibly fail. Your CPU will throttle a lot but otherwise will work fine. With an AIO you might get black screen shutdowns even in the UEFI screen. Thankfully modern CPUs usually won't fry themselves anymore.
      Also you could transplant s behemoth like the ND-NH15 (or whatever it is called) to countless new systems. Noctua provides new mounting kits for free (you can get AM4 screws for old S775/S939 made coolers if you want) and since there is not much change in design it will probably stay one of the best air coolers for many years. Unless carbon nano tubes, special ceramics, or diamond powder get used in larger quantity in the base plates and fins there is no change about to happen. This cooler will work perfectly fine in the PC that comes after your next PC in 12 years. I wouldn't trust a typical AIO to last just one extended life of a PC.

      Also the tests werent realistic. Most users will have discord or teamspeak and a browser running in the background. That would decrease the score of the intel system more than the amd system. With the windows install getting older (more background processes due to garbage) that effect would get even bigger.
      The intel cpu was binned, the AMD one wasn't etc.

      3950x will overclock but you need great/unconventional cooling to get much out of it. Easier to tune your ram as well as possible and let the CPU overclock itself as well as it can if using standard air/water cooling.

    • @olafkkll4103
      @olafkkll4103 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      the point is there is no manual overclocking both cpu´s where used stright out of the box with there "standart" clocks and yes u could technically overclock the amd to a similiar lvl and will get an even or better performance but u could also buy a normal 9900k and overclock it by yourself.

    • @kevin9218
      @kevin9218 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The problem in the comparison is that they got a binned 9900KS that they knew was on the high end of quality you can get for that chip but they grabbed a random 3950X. It could be that the AMD chip was a garbage tier bin and barely up to the specs of a 3950X. We don't know. In any case we're talking about a 100mhz difference here for either chip and it's not going to give you the 10%ish difference that was demonstrated. So Intel still will come out ahead regardless of binning.

      @@morpheas768 they happen to "win" in gaming by a very small amount of FPS in settings that people do not tend to play on (ultra high), not to mention they lose by 50% or more in any other activity, most notably in rendering and streaming. Why would you care buying a hotter, power hungry and inneficient processor for more price only to have a non-noticeable frame increase and only if youre running a 2080ti?
      its not "fanboyism", intel lost pretty bad this generation, last generation and already lost the next one too (10th vs ryzen 4000), only they probably lost much harder
      Competition is good, I had an intel processor before my R7 2700, AMD gave budget builders quality processors, if it were up to intel we'd still be running 4C/4T for $200
