Please note that the whole point of the One Brand Washday series is to give you more information so you can make informed purchases as a consumer. I do try to keep my personal opinions out of the OBW videos as much a possible. I do this because a product that I may not love, may work AMAZING for you and your hair. I try and give information on what products would work for which hair types. That being said, in this video I do share all my personal faves and preferences from the One Brand Washdays! All the products talked about in the video are linked in the description either in the Coupon Codes link or in My Favorite Amazon Products link. 🤗
I am a hardcore Swavy watcher. You are so inspirational, honest, and incredibly helpful. Thank you for being willing to bare it all in the name of hair science. I understand why you dislike tubs, I hate that water gets in the tub while in the shower. But. I do like that you can scoop every last teeny tiny bit out of the tub. Thanks for being awesome!!
I love the description of NYM Curl Talk smelling like purple!! I 100% agree! I tried to describe the fragrance to my husband and I said "it smells like the bottle looks" and he looked at me like I was a nut 😂
I just want you to know that I've finally had the chance to binge watch a bunch of your videos I've been meaning to watch over the weekend, including your ones on protein and moisture balance. You are so detailed and helpful, so much more so than anyone else I've seen who does hair videos for curly hair. I especially liked, in the protein video, when you talked about the different kinds of frizz you have depending upon if you're over moisturized and over proteined. You helped me figure out, that because of the little antennae like hairs on the top of my head, that I've got too much moisture in my hair right now. So thank you so, so much!
Do the little antenna really mean too much moisture or just breakage. Because my coarse hair loves all the moisture and not too much protein but I cannot get rid of those little antenna
@@CJbrieflittlecandle I imagine that different types of hair may do different things for different reasons. I was just guessing that since Courtney, in the Protein video, talked about two different types of frizz depending upon whether her hair was too moisturized or had too much protein, and since my hair is very fine like hers, mine might be getting the antennae for the same reasons as hers. But she can give you better advice than I can; I'm fairly new to CG!
I’ve noticed the change in Bounce Curl too. I never used the gel so I can’t speak on that but I used their Gentle Clarifying Shampoo and their Super Smooth Cream Conditioner and it worked for me but when I repurchased it a while back I noticed that the products were much heavier on my hair than they used to be. The shampoo didn’t clean my hair anymore, it left it greasy and the conditioner left my hair weighed down and almost wet looking. And I have no idea why. I looked at the ingredient list on an old bottle I had and compared it to the new one and I can’t see a difference. But the feeling on my hair is so different. I had to stop using it because of that. But I instead started using Not Your Mother’s and it works so much better.
My favorite shampoo/conditioner combos are MopTop Gentle Shampoo and Conditioner and the Innersense Pure Harmony Hairbath and Pure Inspiration Conditioner. I get the best washdays when I start with either of those. Favorite leave-in is Curls Blueberry Bliss. My hair loves it and gets a little crabby without it. Favorite custard is the Inahsi Coconut Avocado Curl Defining Custard. Even on a one-styler day, that stuff works wonders on my wavy curls. Favorite gel is either Trelux Hi! Definition for a tighter curl or Jessicurl Spiralicious for a looser wave. Both also fabulous one-styler products for me. And favorite mousse, Cake The Curl Whip. This stuff is just, gahhh, it works so well!! Mousse is very hard for my pretty fine hair and most mousses make my hair feel like straw even after I scrunch it out. This stuff does not and it’s looks great even if I just let my hair airdry. It really gives me a nice wash day with minimal effort. And when I do a full on wash day, it is a great final ingredient and keeps my wavy curls together for days. Favorite foam is the Innersense I Create Lift foam, also a great final ingredient and it’s great for a nice foam refresh!
For me shampoo snd conditioner matters more. I have fine, wavy, oily hair (have to wash every other day). If a shampoo isn’t cleansing enough my hair is limp and nasty feeling and no styler will fix that. Likewise, if my conditioner is too heavy it’s really weighted down (or not enough it’s frizz central). For me stylers are like frosting on a cake. If the cake is good you can decorate it a bunch of ways and still enjoy the final product. If the cake itself isn’t good it doesn’t matter how pretty the decorations are, I won’t enjoy the cake.
What shampoo do you use? My hair is similar in that I need to wash every day or every other because of how greasy it is but it gets weighed down so easily. The shampoo is the one thing I'm stumped on right now
@@gizellapopescu3355 do you know if Giovanni changed the ingredients in that shampoo? I bought it based on various curl site recommendations but the one I got has a sulfate as a second ingredient 😕
yesssss same here. I'm a little overwhelmed as I'm just starting out. if we have fine, wavy hair what products are the most important and how many in total do you use? I can't deep condition more than a couple times a year and I've never needed a regular conditioner
My go to everyday shampoo and conditioner is the Mop Top. The bamboo scent is not overpowering and just smells fresh to me. I ALWAYS Use the Tres Luxe gel too. It's very hydrating and never weighs down my fine hair. I bought it all from your Amazon site too.
When I started with you in January I started with the Giovanni line because I could find it at my local grocery store. I added in the Blueberry Bliss to mix up my leave in (which still smell divine) but my new love is Curlsmith. I started with the detox line because my scalp was itchy this Summer and I use their conditioning co-wash most days with a leave in and jelly or the soufflé. When you did your video on the multi tasking conditioner I tried it and my hair loves it! Apparently I like some protein! Thank you for sharing your information. I just wish I could diffuse as good as you❤️
I laughed so hard at your rant about Curlsmith products being in jars. YES!!! PREACH! 🙌 I wish they would stop that! I've fallen in love with their products, but especially in the shower it's so inconvenient. I've almost dropped the jars so many times! I love their multitasking conditioner too. I haven't tried the souffle because I was worried it wouldn't be hard enough hold for me or would be too heavy. Definitely going to give it a try! Is it similar to Kinky Curly curling custard?
I didn’t love any of those. After trying basically everything, I’ve landed on Suave Tropical Coconut as a cowash and regular conditioner (I use it after I swim because it has disodoum edta and that’s great for getting chlorine out) and LA looks gel. I think you did that for a wash day once and my hair is similar to yours and I just like how it works and also saves me money. If I want to use a curl cream I use Cake and if I want to use a mousse I use Not Your Mother’s. If I need a protein treatment I use the protein treatment that is on the Science-y Hair Blog (I think you did a video on that too) and mix it with rice water instead of distilled water. I’ve found everything else is just too much for my hair and prolonged use just doesn’t work. My hair doesn’t like much and these things are the most simple with the least amount of superfluous ingredients or heavy stuff that just builds up.
My hair sounds similar to yours. do you have fine wavy hair and do you use a hair gel? I'm starting all of this but still feeling overwhelmed but I do know that less is more for me personally. my hair gets weighed down easily by using too many products. Also, do you use the NYM mousse with one other product? How many products do you use in total?
Shampoo matters for my scalp health aka longevity of my washday but the conditioner definitely makes a huge difference in the amount of frizz, the size of my clumps, and definition over all. The MopTop conditioner is my absolute holy grail but I’m trying to switch to bars rather than bottles. I miss it though😭
Fragrance can make or break a product! When I don't like the smell I'll stop using the product. Cantu smell horrible to my opinion and I live on the beach in Mexico!
LOVED this video ❤️. I always love hearing about your favorite products, especially because my hair is similar to your hair. I also love how you review the products and talk about the different aspects of them because my daughter's hair is different than my hair. I love your "nerdiness" about wavy/curly hair products 🙂
2 years ago I started watching your channel and you recommended the Giovanni smooth as silk products. I have used the SAS deeper moisture shampoo and conditioner ever since! For my 2b/c fine, dense hair, nothing else I've tried has worked as well. Thank you!
Yes! I've been wanting this video, I just didn't know it! I was telling my husband the other day about how I love your videos but I have a hard time with so many different videos about different products because I want to know what you reach for when you're not filming and what you actually trust for a consistent wash day. So thank you for making this one! It's been almost a year since going wavy but my hair has been off recently so I was looking for more recommendations. I just had a baby so that probably has something to do with it though...
Yes having a baby can definitely affect your hair! But Congratulations! And thank you! You are right, there are so many products out there. It can be very overwhelming.
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney hahaha I've never smelled the original, but i ise the avocado one pretty much every day and the smell is subtle and lovely. I like coconut scents too but they are just so overdone.
So sorry to hear about your mom's cancer and your own stress induced hair loss struggles. Hope things are better on both fronts by now. I also appreciate your sensitivity to fragrance as I also have to be careful with that. I wonder if not nly is our hair type somehat similar, bu also our health constellations. I can get instant migraines from the wrong fragrance. I also have had folliculitis challenges in the past especially if I am allergic to an ingredient in a hair product. Mast Cell Activation Syndrome also messes with me for apparently random reasons, and goes along with my Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Currently having a sick day binge watching your videos. Anyway I hope you are doing well and just wanted to appreciate your research and experience with all this hair stuff. Having a project like hair health and encouraging waves is a welcome distraction from my health woes.
I love the curl smith products. I agree with the smell of Cantù but I love what it does for me. I really like the Not your Mother’s Matcha Green Tea & Wild Apple Blossom hair butter. ❤️❤️❤️
I'm happy to admit that even if I hadn't guessed the exact products that you like, at least I guessed the brands 😂😉 Hardcore Courtney fan? Maybe... 😁 😍😍😍 Seriously your was one of the very first curly channels I started following a year-ish ago when I started to properly deal with my curls. And THANK YOU 🙏🙏🙏 As for shampoo+conditioner vs stylers I can only chime in with the cake comparison here in comments - if the base is not proper no decoration can remedy that. Same goes with skincare and makeup 😉 As for your new setup - I miss your swavy curly Courtney board! Is there a chance for it to find room in your office? Or at least for filming? (If it's not too much to ask of a goldfishy pregnant you 😂😉😍) As for my favourite brand it is definitely Curlsmith. It made me sad that the souffle flash dried my hair but I'll give it another try later on, after my hair gets even more healthy and as per your advice 😉 I'm sticking to their Flexi jelly and Biosilk hard rock. Love your content!!!🤩🙏
I use the Jessicurl spiralicious with the confident coils on my medium porosity, coarse, wavy hair. I use them together and it is fantastic!! I find that they have great hold together for me, although I usually add the not your mother's foam (not the mousse). I hated the aleoba conditioner from Jessicurl. It left me feeling....slimy? I like maui moisture shampoo and conditioner. I use a deep conditioner weekly, and I haven't found one I love yet other than the briogeo Super moisture. I also hated moptop. I hated the scent and they left my hair feeling heavy and not clean.
So I am watching this video while diffusing my hair. I used Innerseanse for the first time ever today as it's just arrived in the post this afternoon. I agree with your opinion on I create hold. I also love Treluxe and Giovanni gel, in the fact all Giovanni products. Great video, I was wondering what are you really using on your wash days. Still very curious to see your hard hold gels, don't think you ever finished your series 🤔
When I use moptop my roots get greasy sooner than anything else I use. Even when I use it on cleaner hair, so I know that it isn't just not cleansing enough. I do LOVE moptop custard!
I think you're terrific! Very easy to watch and understand what to do. Love your sense of humor. I will say I bought the MopTop gentle shampoo and conditioner that you love but for me after washing with the shampoo my hair felt like straw, the conditioner transformed it though. I'm looking for a good combo that won't make it straw first and rely on it's conditioner to change it. I recently ordered Kinky Curly Knot Today and Come Clean Shampoo before watching your video. Hope it works?
I’ve been learning so much from you, thanks!!! I don’t like the feel of a lot of product in my hair, can’t stand it and my hair is dry from highlights so all this info is incredibly helpful! Embracing my natural wavy curly hair for the first time in my life 🎉
Thank you so much for this video! My hair is very similar to yours, so I really trust your input on how different products work on low porosity hair. I was using Bounce Curl’s conditioner and creme gel with great results until I reordered them, and they have thrown my scalp pH out of balance, making my hair extremely greasy and smelling like old cheese! 🤢 I just purchased the sample kit from MopTop and will be trying more of the CurlSmith line for stylers. Fingers crossed that I can find another routine that will give my curls the care they need. Also! I LOVE your office set up! You are practically glowing, and I hope everything is going well for you and your baby! ❤️
I know your videos are geared towards curly hair bit I would love it if you did an updated review on your everyday makeup. It is so pretty!! ❤️ Ps... Love your hair too!
I think it was your OBW videos that convinced me to buy Jessicurl. After discovering my respiratory allergy to hair products, I was at a bit of a loss as far as store bought products. So, product reviews like yours helped tremendously. I love most of the Jessicurl products, but the Aloeba daily conditioner is a staple in my shower now. I just can't use the Island Fantasy scented versions. You also convinced me to try the Giovanni TTT, and that's now my favorite cowash. I don't recall it being in a one brand wash day video, but I will be purchasing the Ecoslay gel soon. Most of the other products contain some sort of an ingredient that can trigger my allergy and make my lungs burn. But, I value your videos quite a bit for clues to my own hair care.
Jessicurl is my go to, specifically spiralicious and gelabration spray. I try other brands but it’s nothing like my jessicurl days where I have consistent results I can count on!
Thank you! I have a lot of stylers I like but I have the hardest time finding shampoo and conditioner I like as much as Verb Ghost. But because of your video I just ordered the trial size bundle from Moptop hoping to find something new :)
I’m going to have to try it. I have the Cantu comeback curl and it’s just okay for me, it’s too heavy for my hair (I use it only on really dry/frizzy pieces now just to use up the bottle). Maybe a good product to try in winter when my hair is more dry.
Love your channel and this video. Your videos are always so helpful and you are so sweet. One thing I wanted to share because I had to learn the hard way is that if you have food allergies and your hair is not behaving check for the allergens in your hair care. They are often labeled with their chemical names so it makes it more difficult to tell. I didn’t realize how many hair products have almond oil.
Awesome video! Thank you for sharing your favorite products. I had tried some gel combinations or even creams and mousses, but my hair performs the best with 1/2 tsp of Hi-Definition Gel and 2 small pumps of Orange Marmalade after it. It is match made in heaven for my hair. 🥰
I absolutely love the Jessicurl Spiralicious Gel! I don't remember which conditioner I used but I agree that the brand's conditioners don't have much slip. I really appreciate a good slip as my hair gets quite tangled due to the hard water in London. I love the Smooth as Silk conditioner and got the shampoo too after seeing your recommendation 😊 on the itchy legs, this is possible if your skin gets dry. That happens, especially after shaving. It is good to use a moisturising body butter/cream/lotion. Btw I completely disagree with you about dipping our fingers in a jar. I haven't used Curlsmith but presumably when you say jar you mean the packaging is made of glass and not plastic, I prefer glass as it is more sustainable and environmentally friendly (not the most environmentally friendly, but better than plastic). Also jars and tubs aren't unhygienic, it's common sense to not dip your fingers in, if you haven't washed your hands.
I am with you all the way with Innersense & curlsmith! I have different fav products from those brands, but still, they're GREAT brands! I bet they have something for just about everyone! Great breakdown of products!
Thank you so much for that explanation about different polyquats! They usually make my hair feel like Easter grass (eeew!), so I tend to stay away from them. I had the NYM gel on my shelf for months before I tentatively tried it, and I was surprised that it didn't do that to my hair. Now I know why. Thanks! Also, I think the bamboo scent of Mop Top products has kind of a citrus scent, but with a bit of a sweet undertone. Kind of like citrus cotton candy. 😂
Okay, I just commented on one of your other videos about the Suave coconut conditioner-I use that to shave. But when you said “itchy leg syndrome” I was like, me toooo! If the Giovanni tea tree conditioner would help with that I would be so grateful! I thought about trying the Giovanni gel-how would you compare it to Harry’s gel?
I use the triple treat giovanni conditioner to shave with too haha! I use to use the kinky curly leave in which works great too but I ran out of it. I order the ecoslay om gel and rice pudding on the Labor Day sale. I think they will work great for my hair cus my hair loves homemade flax gel and rice water rinses. Thank you for all the info you share! Also I loved your video from awhile back about your Christian faith!! ❤️
Thanks for your videos. I found you when I was starting my curly hair care this year. Even though I have course hair I have still learned a lot from your channel. Most of the products I use can't have protein in them or I get build up in my hair. I too feel the same way about mousse that you do. For me it is gel all the way. I love the Garnier Fructis style Pure Clean Gel. I was so happy when you mentioned the Cantu shampoo and cautioner as this it what works for me. I also have tried their leave in conditioner too. What might be some products that do not have proteins in them and could you do a video on some of this? I love how bold you are with your faith! I too am a believer.
I despise gels in jars! I ordered some empty pump bottles from Amazon and funneled my TreLuxe gel into one and my As I Am Cowash into another and I’m much happier.
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney The Coconut Cowash comes in a big pump tub, but that one had too much coconut oil for me. I use the Dry & Itchy Scalp version because it has less coconut oil and they only make the tub size, so I had to ale my own pump. :)
Thank you so much for sharing! Awesome info. I am going to check out some of these products. Also thank you for sharing your coupon codes. Also needing more guidance in upright styling. Thank you.
Aww I am so glad this helped! And I am all about saving money if possible. These are the current upright styling videos: th-cam.com/video/bKKPv1HCZPE/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/NuvBPhURVpc/w-d-xo.html
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney if my hair feels extra dirty but not to the point of needing to clarify (I use the Gio Tea Tree shampoo for that), I’ll use the TT conditioner and then cowash again with the Gio deeper moisture conditioner, which is a super gentle cowash). But usually the TT conditioner is cleansing enough of me ☺️
Do you find that you have better wash days when you use all products from one line? We have similar hair types and I love Curlsmith stylers but haven’t found a shampoo/conditioner combo that I like. Thanks for this video…very helpful!
Hey Courtney, Congratulations of your pregnancy. Children are such a blessing and my two have grown up. So I have a question for you. I have 2b hair type long hair with lots of fine to medium hairs. I have temporary color but generally some gray in my hair and I am thinking of doing the curly girl method starting out with the Mop-top shampoo and conditioner. What type of gel or other product should I use from your favorites to help hold the curls. I am thinking of ordering asap. Thanks!
Thanks for this! Your hair is a lot like mine so I appreciate all of your experiments, usually if things work for you they work for me too. My usual products are Giovanni (thanks to your recommendation! I like tea tree shampoo snd smooth as silk conditioner) and mop top. I have some deva curl but my hair doesn’t like most of their products except for the frizz free volumizing foam. I part ways with you on Jessie curl, I really wanted to like them but they just didn’t do much for my hair (maybe someday I’ll get trial sizes and give them another go). It seems like everyone’s hair loves spiralicious but mine! I got the sample size innersense products a while ago snd really liked them but the pack didn’t include I create hold so I may have to give that a try sometime. For stylers I prefer one product that can give hold snd definition, so I gravitate toward mop top custard, eco slay orange marmalade, and uncle funky’s daughter curly magic. Interesting fact about mousse ingredients, I haven pretty much given up on mousse, maybe I have the same issue with the sticky ingredient you do. I love how informative your videos are!
Thank you so much! 🤗 This is fabulous feedback. The Jessicurl is more of a moisturizing product. It sounds like you have it all covered with some great products! 💃💃
Amazing video! Still trying to figure out what is my favorite, and looking for a mousse that does not dry out my hair (don't know which ingredient my hair didn't like...)... So many products out there, this was useful! 🥰
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney no because they don't have it in Canada.... And shipping cost are killing me!!! Today, I use Bounce curl cream and curl defining soufflé from curlsmith and had amazing results!! Woohoo!!
Hi Courtney, HELP!!! I have hair like your Sisters…. What does she use??? I have very thick long course hair that needs tons of Moistener. My hair is really Dry…. I would say my hair is almost a 3A ….. Can you Please HELP!!! 😊
I would love to see a video about the products you would use daily if you wernt a TH-camr. I think most people don't have a large collection of products to rotate through.
I too LOVE Jessicurl, BUT I can't use them because they all contain phenoxyethanol and phenoxyethanol makes my scalp itch SO BAD. Such a bummer because Jessicurl products make my hair look great. I have found that Innersense stylers plus Denman brush make my hair look just as good.
Hi Courtney! Long time lurker here! love the videos Changed my curly girl life! A couple things... Could you look at the ingredients list for olaplex 4 in 1 moisture mask.. there are 4 that are not cg approved and I'd like to know why. I used it anyway and my hair is amazing!!!!! I have 3A high porosity hair. I've always had to use a ton of heavy products and my hair still tangles very easy..... well after this it has been a week and I even slept with my (long) hair down twice. I just combed out my hair and I had no tangles at all! and almost no hair fall. I don't really understand it... Second thing is that you should try Hair Is Fabric shampoo by deciem (the ordinary) I've been using it for years and suggest it to everyone I know. I didn't even use a conditioner with it before starting cg. Thanks and love the videos!!!
You make me want to go out and buy MopTop again! That was the first shampoo and conditioner I went out and bought when I started taking care of my hair (after finding your videos!) I really liked both the shampoo and conditioner and I have had a hard time finding a conditioner that felt as good as that one. I may have to try the curlsmith products though because I’ve been itching to give them a shot!! As a person who picked having the shorter videos I did enjoy watching the full video all the way through😊 I just casted it on my tv and watched it while I packed some boxes for moving. Thanks for your hard work on the videos even while creating a human!! (I like the fresh look of the office background)
Oh my goodness thank you!! 🥰🥰 I am glad you liked this format. I hope moving goes smoothly for you. Moptop is sooo good! The slip with their conditioner is phenomenal. But Curlsmith is amazing as well! 💃💃
I am loving giovanni but will try as well clevercurl here in AU. :) makes my hair silky soft. I have to say that efficacy of products depend on our hairtype. I tried innersense but it made my hair very dry. 🙃
I noticed that my hair looked more wavy after I started using Innersense products (I had been blow-drying and heat styling my hair for decades because I was convinced it was stick-straight!). I subsequently stopped using them because I thought they made my hair 'unmanageable', then I started delving into curly girl stuff and realized that my hair wasn't straight after all! Since I'm newly on the journey of discovery about my hair and trying to figure out what works for me I'm experimenting with different products, but I do find myself going back to Innersense, especially if I have a bad experience with others.
I wash my hair daily because I get so sweaty and oily after working with animals all day! Currently Im using the Giovanni Smooth as Silk shampoo & conditioner and although my hair seems to like it. I feel like i can try out something else that may work better. I'm intrigued about the moptop line and may try it out. What shampoo from curlsmith would you recommend for as a daily shampoo?
I’m probably a bit weird, but I transfer products into squeeze bottles. I hate tubs and pumps often malfunction so I just stopped trying to fix/work around them. Much less frustration.
@@kcg1235 some of them I bought new and some I recycled from other products. Oddly, none were from/for beauty items. The squeeze bottles from smuckers chocolate topping reminded me of the goo tubes I like fro travel, so I kept them. On Amazon I found some FIFO bottles. I really like them.
I had the exact same experience with Bounce Curl, the original packaging my hair LOVED it so much that I repurchased it. The repurchased set was new packaging, not only did I notice the same things you did, my hair just didn’t turn out the same. I even occasionally tried them in different seasons and it was just never the same as the original packaging. Ps. I hope you and baby are doing well💓
I love your thoughts on some of your favorite products, but I have to laugh bc our choice in scents are completely different. I love the Hi Definition gel from Treluxe but can't stand the scent, and absolutely love the scent of Cantu's Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream.
I've been wanting to try Kerotin because I've had significant hair loss (like, bald patches on the sides of my head). I'm wondering, though, about their intensive hair growth drops. You're a coffee drinker so may not notice, but do those drops have noticeable caffeine effects from the green tea extract? I get heart palpitations even from tiny amounts of caffeine (like eating a couple of chocolate chips), and I have yet to find a scalp hair-growth treatment without caffeine. Thanks!
Quick question: will you ever review expensive brands’ curly/wavy targeted products? Oribe has the Moisture and Control line and Kerastase has Curl Manifesto.
I would really like to see a OBW using the Curls blueberry (or pineapple)line

It is pretty crazy!! Thank you so much! 🥰🥰

I love the description of NYM Curl Talk smelling like purple!! I 100% agree! I tried to describe the fragrance to my husband and I said "it smells like the bottle looks" and he looked at me like I was a nut 😂
😂😂 I get this!!! If I said this to my hubby, he would look at me like a nut too.
Awwwww thank you!!
Ohh this is a fantastic list! Thank you for sharing!
Ohhh I love this example. You explained this super well!🤩🤩 But now I want cake! 😂
What shampoo do you use? My hair is similar in that I need to wash every day or every other because of how greasy it is but it gets weighed down so easily. The shampoo is the one thing I'm stumped on right now
@@melissanulph4371 Try As I Am Cowash and alternate with Tea Tree Triple Treat Shampoo (much more cleansing, almost drying).
Love this! And yes, the bamboo is not to overpowering!
Thank you for sharing! 😁
I just wish I could diffuse as good as you❤️
Awe your so sweet! Thank you!
You have some good products there. But I am glad you (and your hair!) like this prodcut.
Girl you need to try AG products! I've had the BEST luck with Recoil and the Mousse Gel. Very fine hair 2c-3a medium porosity hair.
I like to mix 1/2 teaspoon spiralicious with a Pea of Giovanni la hold together, perfect combo!
Oh and also... the Mielle babasu deep conditioner is crazy slippery as well. My go to for when I have a matted mess to detangle.
You were the one who got me into moptop its my favorite now!!! Saved my hair after the diva curl situation!
Love it so much!
Yes that’d be super cool!
Purple smell! I understand that! Just like grape scent smells like green to me! Thank you for these tips! I so appreciate your videos, Courtney!
It is amazing! Maybe rotate it in occasionally?
Thank you so much for talking more specifically about the fragrance in these products! My sensitive nose appreciates it!
I am right there with you!!! 😩
Fragrance can make or break a product! When I don't like the smell I'll stop using the product. Cantu smell horrible to my opinion and I live on the beach in Mexico!
Could you do the same type of video, but your sister's favorites?
On the Curlsmith Soufflé it’s the Babassu oil and the Irish moss that cancels the glycerin. IMO 😉
LOVED this video ❤️. I always love hearing about your favorite products, especially because my hair is similar to your hair. I also love how you review the products and talk about the different aspects of them because my daughter's hair is different than my hair. I love your "nerdiness" about wavy/curly hair products 🙂
I'm loving your hair in the intro! And I love that upright styling is working well for you, it's my favorite way to style
Yes I think this is the best her hair has ever looked!!
2 years ago I started watching your channel and you recommended the Giovanni smooth as silk products. I have used the SAS deeper moisture shampoo and conditioner ever since! For my 2b/c fine, dense hair, nothing else I've tried has worked as well. Thank you!
Wow! Love this! 🤩🤩They are pretty fantastic. Its amazing when you what works for and what doesn't. And you found out early on!💃💃
I would love a one brand washday with just mousses and foams!
The first one brand wash day video I saw of yours was curlsmith and I fell in love! I got the transition kit by them and loved my hair ever since 💖
I like using a C-14 C-16 shampoo after swimming in a pool and when I just need to reset my strands.
Praying for you and Little Miss!❤️🙏
The cantu curl cream comes in avocado too and it smells AMAZING!!!!!
Oh so it is not just me! lol 🤔🤔
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney hahaha I've never smelled the original, but i ise the avocado one pretty much every day and the smell is subtle and lovely. I like coconut scents too but they are just so overdone.
I ADORE Oloplex anf feel theyre gr8 BUT...it is alllll about the products!!!!
Maybe... 😁 😍😍😍
Seriously your was one of the very first curly channels I started following a year-ish ago when I started to properly deal with my curls. And THANK YOU 🙏🙏🙏
As for shampoo+conditioner vs stylers I can only chime in with the cake comparison here in comments - if the base is not proper no decoration can remedy that. Same goes with skincare and makeup 😉
As for your new setup - I miss your swavy curly Courtney board! Is there a chance for it to find room in your office? Or at least for filming? (If it's not too much to ask of a goldfishy pregnant you 😂😉😍)
As for my favourite brand it is definitely Curlsmith. It made me sad that the souffle flash dried my hair but I'll give it another try later on, after my hair gets even more healthy and as per your advice 😉 I'm sticking to their Flexi jelly and Biosilk hard rock.
Love your content!!!🤩🙏
Courtney, have you tried the Pacifica curly hair line?? Would love to hear your thoughts on it!
I share the Curlsmith love, and the dislike for those jars... 😅 Super useful (and entertaining) videos! Thank you so much!
Yay! Thank you! I am so glad I am not alone! 🤗
You can get the custard in a big squeeze bottle. Wish they had more jumbo products.
Love the video! I found the timestamps in the description box very helpful!!!
Thank you! I am so glad that it did! They certainly can be very useful! 😀😀
Hahaha OMG I love that Triple Threat Tea Tree conditioner for shaving too! 😆
Interesting!! Everyone's hair definitely has different needs! 😀
Same for me with the leg itchiness! Even after putting lotion on. Guess I'll try that Giovanni product! 🤣❤️
Ugh!!! Not fun!
I was awaiting for this video.
So, KC Come Clean Shampoo is more a of a clarifier. You would want to follow this with a deep conditioner.
I’ve been learning so much from you, thanks!!! I don’t like the feel of a lot of product in my hair, can’t stand it and my hair is dry from highlights so all this info is incredibly helpful! Embracing my natural wavy curly hair for the first time in my life 🎉
Awe thank you! So glad this has been helpful!
Jessicurl is amazing!! This is awesome! 🤩🤩
and yes shampoo and conditioner make a 1000% difference!
Thank you! I have a lot of stylers I like but I have the hardest time finding shampoo and conditioner I like as much as Verb Ghost. But because of your video I just ordered the trial size bundle from Moptop hoping to find something new :)
I hope you like it! Let me know here how it goes! 😁😁
Yessssss the cantu curl activator is my holly grail cream styler😍🙌🏽. It is definitely a tropical smell, that takes allot of getting used to lol.
I’m going to have to try it. I have the Cantu comeback curl and it’s just okay for me, it’s too heavy for my hair (I use it only on really dry/frizzy pieces now just to use up the bottle). Maybe a good product to try in winter when my hair is more dry.
That is true! Those heavier products may be better for winter or to use more sparingly!
I personally love the way Cantu smells.
That curlsmith soufflé does come in a bottle! It’s a bigger size but it has a squeeze top 😊
I absolutely LOVE Cantu! It never fails me
😊 They have some good budget friendly and effective products!
And this may be common sense. I just recently developed a nut allergy and had not even though to check the other products I was using.
Yes! Definitely interesting. It doesn't hurt to play it safe either.
I like your new set up at your desk. Your pregnant tummy is so cute
Awe thank you!! 🥰🥰 It is a ton more comfortable right now!
Love you love your videos. Ty so much for all you do. When you talk about rotation, how often do you change products. Ty
I ALWAYS use conditioner! Even when I have to shave dry!!! Okie Girl🤠
Yesss!!! It's the best!
I am with you all the way with Innersense & curlsmith! I have different fav products from those brands, but still, they're GREAT brands! I bet they have something for just about everyone! Great breakdown of products!
I agree, I bet they do have something for everyone. They are just great solid products.
And thank you! I am glad this could be of help to you! 🥰
Oh East grass.. That is an interesting comparison!
I am glad the NYM gel worked for you!!
And Citrus Cotton Candy! 😂😂
Also, you are looking so bronze beautiful and glowy!!
Ohhh that is a fantastic idea!! 🤩🤩 The As I Am Cowash come in a bigger bottle with a pump too,
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney The Coconut Cowash comes in a big pump tub, but that one had too much coconut oil for me. I use the Dry & Itchy Scalp version because it has less coconut oil and they only make the tub size, so I had to ale my own pump. :)
The itchy leg thing!!!! Thank you! I will try it. ☺️
Hope it works!! 😀😀
Can you do a video on which products work for your sisters hair type since it is opposite of yours?
Thank you so much for sharing! Awesome info. I am going to check out some of these products. Also thank you for sharing your coupon codes. Also needing more guidance in upright styling. Thank you.
Aww I am so glad this helped! And I am all about saving money if possible. These are the current upright styling videos: th-cam.com/video/bKKPv1HCZPE/w-d-xo.html

@@SwavyCurlyCourtney thank You ☺️. There was one I had not watched 😊.
I use the Giovanni Tea Tree conditioner as my cowash on most days. I use the Jessicurl Too Shea every wash day. It works so well for my hair.
That sounds like a good balance! 😀
Thanks!
I would find it helpful to also know your sister’s favorite products since she has different hair to yours.
Yes this!
Thank you! 🤗🤗
Have you tried the Not Your Mother's Curl Talk Mousse?
I couldn't possibly pick a favorite, much less from a one brand wash day. 🤣 I also mix it up and use products from different lines together.
It can be tough!! There are so many great ones!😁😁
When you were talking about mousse I had to look at the mousse that I own. It has Polyquaternium-11, wondering....is that a 'good' polyquat or not?
Eco slay one brand wash day!
That is a bummer! Innersense is certainly a good alternative. 🤩
I'm like you: the gel seems to make all the difference!
Give me all the gel!! 🤩🤩
You are correct! Products do not work the same across the board. It depends on many factors!
I love the MopTop haircare products. I like the smell. It does not smell like bamboo (thank goodness). Bamboo has a strong unpleasant smell.
Huh, that is interesting about bamboo! 🤔
How funny! Your waves/curls were in hiding!
Your hair is so pretty in this video !
So sweet! Thank you! 🥰
Curlsmith Vivid Tones and Curlsmith Core Strength would be good for washing daily.
Have u tried shea moisture or Maui moisture…? I would be interested in knowing how they work in your hair… I have same hair type as you
AGREEE!!! No more jars!!! Squeeze bottles all the way! Also really love curl smith soufflé and innersense!
I’m probably a bit weird, but I transfer products into squeeze bottles. I hate tubs and pumps often malfunction so I just stopped trying to fix/work around them. Much less frustration.
@@tamarad.2555 genius!!! Do you just buy squeeze bottles off Amazon?
Ps. I hope you and baby are doing well💓
Awe thank you!! 🥰🥰
I am glad I am not the only one. And I liked that you gave them a try during different seasons too. That's a good way to check!
@@SwavyCurlyCourtney ❤️
The bounce curl gel changed their preservative(s) as well as the essential oils used for fragrance only which is why it smells different 🤗
Hmm that is interesting! 🤔🤔
I love your thoughts on some of your favorite products, but I have to laugh bc our choice in scents are completely different. I love the Hi Definition gel from Treluxe but can't stand the scent, and absolutely love the scent of Cantu's Moisturizing Curl Activator Cream.
How funny! We are created to be so unique! I am glad you like it though! 😀😀
Yes! I wish Curlsmith would have all their shampoos in squeeze tubes and all their conditioners in pumps. I hate the shampoo bottles they use.
It just feels like it is harder to get out. Plus, with some tubes you can cut them open to get the most out of them! lol
Thanks!
Like you I have tried them all but by far my favorite is Curlsmith! I'm also disappointed in the jars and wish they were in a pump or squeeze - WHY???
Seriously!! Maybe they will be switched in the future!
Quick question: will you ever review expensive brands’ curly/wavy targeted products? Oribe has the Moisture and Control line and Kerastase has Curl Manifesto.
Do I always need to use a leave in conditioner prior to my styling product? Or can I skip the leave in conditioner and only use the styling product?
I would appreciate an episode on specific ingredients to avoid.
