This video was meant for me today! I just watched it while diffusing my hair after using Curl Smith stylers. I like to use the weightless air dry cream, and then I apply a mix of equal parts of the soufflé and in-shower styler. I emulsify and mix them up really well in my hands before applying to my hair. I absolutely LOVE the results! I’ve tried both on their own, but the mix is my new go-to. The in-shower styler is too heavy for my fine hair, but my hair falls flat after a day of just the soufflé. When they’re mixed I get about 3 days of great definition and hold without too much weight.
So funny because I was just about to ask if anyone had every tried mixing the souffle with the in shower style fixer! I am going to give this a try next time because I feel the same way about the products that you do!
Thank you for sharing ! The Soufflé is a big favorite but I’d like more hold and the In Shower style is too strong alone so I’m going to try mixing this next wash day. ❤
I am not sure why, but my favourite of your washdays was the hydro-flexi jelly. I have all of the stylers I think but should have waited for the protein line, my hair needs lots of protein. I have yet to perfect the gels, the souffle causes flash drying. The aqua gel and Flexi jelly, not enough hold. Need to try the in shower fixer again as last I used it I didn't have the protein line to mix it with.
I love the shape up gel, it's one of my favorites. Not just from curlsmith but of all gels! I love runny gels, and my curls always look better and last longer when I use a gel with protein! My curls also do better with somewhat lighter hold. Sounds strange, I know, but they seem to let my curls spring up more, and maybe breathe a little easier. Instead of falling or loosening thru days 3, 4, etc, they'll actually tighten up a bit with lighter hold gels. (Usually. Nothing is guaranteed lol!)
I have all four of these! My hair looks like Courtney's but our properties are slightly different. My hair is medium-fine texture, medium porosity and density. I use the Hydro Flexi Jelly as a one and done daily styler. I add In Shower Fixer if I want harder hold. The Souffle does not give me as much hold and definition as I like and even though my hair EATS protein, the Shape Up Aqua Gel is like adding almost nothing to my hair. The Strength Foam from Curlsmith plays beautifully with each of these. My waves love, love Curlsmith!! Appreciate you taking time to show each on your hair. Thank you!! 😘
The Shape Up Gel is actually what got me back into using gels again after being discouraged with my hair! I do notice the stringiness, but I pair it with a foam and it's all shine and bounce!!
Love Curl Smith...seriously been a game changer in my curly hair journey! I have been loving the styling souffle for a year now, but recently bought the style fixer to try. Didn't like it as much as the souffle, but am excited to try it again with a different method. And after watching this, I think I need to get a mini size of the other 2 to try...this experiment looked so fun, I want to try it too!
I’m in love with these products. My routine is Air dry leave in conditioner then follow with either feather light protein cream or hold me softly balm, then layer styling soufflé and hydro flexi jelly. The 2 gels give me the hold I want and need. I haven’t tried the shape up gel yet but I just saw it’s in the 2oz now so I’ll be trying that. The in shower fixer made my hair stringy it was almost like to hard to fast. If that makes sense. Make even a flash dry.
Wow courtney, you are actually just stunningly beautiful. Your makeup looks incredible in the last styling segment and your face is just the perfect canvas for such a pretty look! Your hair is looking great too!
I love the aqua gel and just bought the huge bottle. I do own all of the CurlSmith groupings because they work so well on my hair. I keep trying with the styling souffle but find the texture too gloopy ( I style my hair soaking wet in the shower). When I go to emulsify it in my wet hands, it doesn't emulsify, pieces of it fall to the shower floor. Maybe I just need more practice with it. I always use one of CurlSmith's styling cremes before applying the gel my hair. The one I use depends on what my hair needs at the time. I love the styling flexibility that Curlsmith products give me. My favorite brand.
I really loved your results with the Shape up gel and the styling souffle. Even your end of day results! I have the In-shower style fixer and personally I don't like it on its own. Its so hard to SOTC, I feel like the humidity reactivates it during the day, and I can feel it whenever I touch my hair. I started mixing it with other gels to add hold and so far its working, but I won't repurchase it.
Hydro Style Flexi Jelly is a godsend for me. In winter and spring when the dew points are low, my waves turn limp, frizzy, and stringy. Of every styler I have, HSFJ is the ONLY one that keeps my hair looking defined and smooth in those conditions. Not a lot of volume, but my hair does look good and bouncy. Also, I really enjoy the In-Shower Fixer a lot, even though it’s a learning curve. I used waaaay too much the first few times and my hair was just nasty. A little goes a long way!
Great video! I have only used the soufflé. I love it. I have frizzy, low volume course, high porosity hair. It makes my hair soft, bouncy, frizz free and defined. Love this product!!
Thanks for the reviews! Currently I'm applying the Air Dry Cream after I get out of the shower then layering a round or two of the Flexi Jelly. I plop my hair for the first 30 minutes of my early morning commute, then take it out for the last 30 minutes and turn my car heat on a little to "diffuse." I just picked up a small size of the In Shower Style Fixer and hadn't tried it yet, maybe next wash day! Also, now curious how the Soufflé will do in my hair. My curl clumps are generally thin, except for a few massive barrel curls. Hair is fine with bleached/semi permanent colored ends, so I've got a mix of porosities.
I tried out the hydro style flexi jelly just the other day and was really impressed with how soft the curls were but how they held their definition. I'm going to be buying the other sample sizes of the aqua gel and souffle though, having seen your results.
My hair is fine/medium texture and low density. When I started my journey 16 months ago, I tried some Curlsmith products, but my hair wasn't ready for them. A few months ago, I went back to Curlsmith and found that my hair now loves the products. I don't use stylers with protein, but my go-to now is the Curl Souffle under the Hydro Style Flexi Jelly and the In-Shower Style Fixer to finish. I get a great hold that lasts for days. I'm a real fan now.
The curl smith Defining soufflé is my favorite. I just started using it. Love seeing the comparison. So many choice with curl smith and just have to try them to see which works best. Thank you!
I have the instyle fixer and I like it. I think my favorite results of yours is the shape up(I like the volume you got from that) and the soufflé. Those are the two I want to try next now! Thank you for this video! Not curlsmith but I also really want to try the Ag curl fresh definer. Have you tried that?
I love all the curlsmith gels I've tried. 3 out of 4. I'm interested in the shape up aqua gel because of that AMAZING volume and definition 😍 I have the same problem with lack of hold tho. Wondering if I can use two gels layered to help this??? I want volume, definition and hold. Any ideas??? My hair is 2b, fine, medium to high porosity. Thanks for doing this video, Courtney!
This is the video I didn't know I was waiting for! And clearly, I need to try the Shape up gel. I have the other three, and usually I'll combine the Flexi Jelly with the In-shower style fixer, since the style fixer on its own tends to flash dry my hair. My favorite of your results was the Shape up gel -- the only one i DON'T own, so thanks, Courtney. Now I need to order some! Also! The hair make up is actually my favorite styler, ever. It holds my hair for days! When are they going to come out with a colorless version of THAT?
I've only tried the In Shower Style Fixer and the Souffle because I like a lot of hold. I liked the way my hair felt better with the souffle though. I am still not getting a HARD cast though. Am I just not using enough product? I did "water down" the style fixer. I feel like a good hard cast is going to prolong my wash day which I want! I think the only product that gives me a case like that is the NYM hard hold gel.
I’ve been wanting to try this brand, but I have a ton cheap brands to get through, like Cantù, NYM Curl Talk and Aussie gel and mousse, that I’m waiting. I change almost every wash day to use them up. Lol. I do think my combo would be the Air Dry cream with the Hydro Gelly, but I do prefer a hard cast, so maybe the Soufflé? Thanks for the comparisons! Very helpful!
My hair is fine, type 3 mashup, low density. I love the in shower style fixer. I don't use very much, and vary the amount of leave-in depending on the season and get soft, long lasting wash days with it.
Curlsmith is my all time favorite brand. The vivid tones and leave in are amazing, plus the entire protein line. I feel like the moisture line is too much for my hair. Always seems frizzy with those. I just need the other two gels to be a harder hold then I’d be set, instead I do all Curlsmith and then Ouidad Advanced Climate gel.
I have the curl defining styling souffle and the in shower styler. The first one works well in the summer in California's Central Valley which is bone dry. I have only used the second one a few times. I used it on damp hair and had bad results. I need to try it on soaking wet hair and see how it looks.
I've tried all but the Aqua Gel on my coarse, thick waves. My fav is the fleck Jelly and my hair didn't really like the souffle. Thanks for the fun comparisons!
Great video! I use and love the exact same shampoo and conditioner. I also use the Weightless Air Dry Cream and have tried all these gels with it. I get epic flash dry with the In-Shower Style Fixer and it’s a shame because the hold and definition are fantastic, but it leaves my hair feeling dry and nasty. I also get serious flash dry from the Shape Up gel. I actually mixed it with the Hydro Style Flexi Jelly and found that worked better and helped with the flash dry issue. I’m going to keep combining them and see how I feel in a few weeks. The Soufflé is okay, but I’m not wowed by it. It definitely didn’t work for me in the summer and the Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Heat and Humidity Gel remains my hero styler for the summers.
Thanks for this video! This is a company I’ve been wanting to try so I appreciate all the comparisons. I have too many other stylers I need to use up first but I‘ll have to give these a try when I’m ready to order again.
I haven't tried a lot of Curlsmith stylers. I looooove Bond Curl and the Vivid Tones shampoo and conditioner though. I habe tried the In Shower Style Fixer and I can't seem to get it to work for my hair. My hair kind of turns out stringy and weighed down with that gel. If I try more of their stylers I might try the Hydro Style Flexi Jelly next. I have medium density, high porosity bleached hair.
yay! a back to back comparison, thank you! i tried the in-shower. glad i only got the 2oz tube because, well, it doesn't make my hair feel good. i found it heavy and just waxy feeling. but, i do like the souffle' though. I like the way your hair is with the souffle'.
I just ordered the Curlsmith Hydro Style Flexi Jelly a couple of days ago, and I'm waiting for it to arrive. After watching this video, I feel even more sure that I ordered the right Curlsmith gel for my hair. Thanks for the comparisons and great info in this video, Courtney!
Think I want to try that in-shower style fixer gel after seeing this. I'm an oily, fine-haired curly/wavy (3A/2C) and like a good gel. I like the curl-defining souffle but wish it wasn't in a jar, I always manage to get water in jars since there isn't a lot of room in my shower.
I use the Air dry cream and once in a while the Hydro Style gel, I wish I could try more but the fragrances are just too much. I’d love if they made a fragrance-free line up for wavies.
I feel exactly the same. I find the CurlSmith fragrances hard to bear. It is surprising that a brand making so much effort to sell quality products would not give due attention to fragrance
@@kara2310 It bugs me when great products are out of reach because of fragrance. We don’t need all the scent. It does nothing for the hair, so why so intense?
Hi Courtney ! I don’t know this brand yet and I’m completely lost with All products available !! I would love to try the travelling size if I can find them in France . Thank you for this very complete and helpful comparison.
Souffle is my favorite for myself and I think your hair had it's best day from start to finish! Thank you for all the wonderful videos! I have funky random waves and watching you made me get a perm. Yes the four letter word PERM, I did it and I flipping love my curls.
I liked the soufflé one best in your hair, I have all 4 also, but mainly have been using the purple one on the regular and my hair has also been more frizzy. I’m gonna switch to the soufflé now and see if it works as well for me as you. Happy thanksgiving girlie.
I Love Second one you use I think it works better on your hair I am been thinking of use them but now I see how much it looks so nice on you I will try them as I got low porosity and medium to think hair. Thanks for sharing 👍
Just watched again and did like 2 wash but now looking again I really like 3 wash as hair look So Much Better also I Got same shampoo, Conditioner, Hold Me Softly Style Balm and Defing Style Souffle. Love shampoo and conditioner my hair lot lightly in colour but really like mint conditioner Better with just bit of same conditioner. My hair looks so much better that want it was. I do really like Bonding oil on 1 wash day and 3 day. Thanks 😊
Did you notice any impact from the glycerin in a couple of them? Thanks for mentioning the lavender in Flexi Jelly. It gives me a headache, so that ingredient is right out. I think I’d like to try the soufflé and style fixer, possibly along with the air dry cream and feather-light protein. But I’m at the beginning of my wavy journey, and I don’t know what I’m doing. Plus I have orders from Inahsi (thanks for your code, which I used before the Black Friday deals kicked in 🤦🏼♀️) and AG coming. That should be enough for testing purposes for now.
I know you've been a new busy mom of two lately! But THIS video has been sooo helpful to me today, I got a few of the trial sizes to get a feel of each product I think will be best for my hair (of course the multi conditioner but a ton of the different gels at different levels- some with protein and some without) and I'm watching this while the deep quenching conditioner works into my hair to choose which gels to use for the day! 🎀 Keep doing what you do!
I loved all of them except #1! I think #1 was a tad bit heavy for your fine hair. But it still looked nice. It just wasn't as defined as the other gels. Super cool experiment. 👌
Why does my hair get so dry and frizzy after using any of the Curlsmith gels? I use enough water and yes I tried with and without curl creams. I have also tried deep conditioning. Also doing bonding proteins and nothing works 😢 I tried all the techniques. I think my hair is damaged on top
Interesting. I usually use the hydro jelly but I’m wondering if the hold me softly might be better. Going to ulta later, they are having a big curlsmith sale right now. Hmmmm
My personal favorite is the soufflé. They all looked look but I didn’t like the way #2 looked on you. Mainly the front. It gave the impression of greasy hair. IMO of course 😂
I use the flexi-jelly and I love the way it enhances my fine 2c low-density hair. However, I live in the Texas Panhandle and the wind is so bad sometimes that after being outside my hair looks like I stuck my finger in an electric socket!
@@debbieforseth254 I keep some curl refreshing spray at work for those high-wind days. I work at WT and walk across campus all the time. I wet my hands and run them lightly over my hair, spray a bit of curl refresh on the hair and scrunch it up , and it looks fine.
Honestly? Maybe I'm blind but your hair looked pretty much the same to me after SOTC (except the shape up gel with smaller ringlets), but with every gel you got definition and bounce and shine! Now for the longevity - I think you got like least frizz with the Flexi jelly. And then I spontaniously think of your hack of shaking out the roots in order to get rid of the frizz. I gather that THAT technique would work wonders on any of these wash days. And after watching you other videos I think you hair streches out regardless of the styling products, with maybe the exception of the trelux gel. Personally I've tried the flexi jelly and it is my go to styler most of the time and then the souffle which flash dried my hair. I don't have the in shower style fixer and I don't dare use the shape up gel since the other products in the strength line leave a funky residue on my hair, regardless of the amount used (like two peas for the whole head for both the conditioner and the cream although the cream gave me hold (?!?!)). Maybe I should just stop being such a wuss and experiment more with the products I have at home (looking at you Jessicurl Light and Luminous Collection) and even with different amounts of Curlsmith products. But the strenght line (purple) is really going to last me a while. My hair responds imediatelly to it and not in a good way... Is my hair protein sensitive?
I don’t like any of them. If they’re too heavy on your hair, which they clearly are, they will never work for me. I’ve never seen your hair look this bad. Don’t sponsor again until you’ve tried it and know you can honestly recommend it to us. I don’t care if it’s got unicorn farts in it. Way, way too much casting in this stuff. Your hair was weighed down. Look for yourself and compare your intro to any of these. This is what I do NOT like about youtube.
@@ambivalent5842 It should be clear from the video itself. I didn't even realise it. Also, it's been at least a year since that comment. The text may have been edited.

The Shape Up Gel is actually what got me back into using gels again after being discouraged with my hair! I do notice the stringiness, but I pair it with a foam and it's all shine and bounce!!
After much of the same experimenting, my low porosity wavy hair looks best with the lightweight air dry cream and hydro style flexi jelly 😊
And yes, I experimented with the travel sizes like you recommended in an earlier video 😊
So I've been using featherlight protein cream as my 'gel' , after brush styling it in sections... and omg, I've had the best results!
Love Curl Smith...seriously been a game changer in my curly hair journey! I have been loving the styling souffle for a year now, but recently bought the style fixer to try. Can you do this same style video but with their leave in conditioners? So helpful thank you!
I've enjoyed adding just a little bit for the level 10 on top of any styling routine. It helps my styling last longer :)
I love all the curlsmith gels I've tried. 3 out of 4. I'm interested in the shape up aqua gel because of that AMAZING volume and definition 😍 I have the same problem with lack of hold tho. Add the bouncy strength volume foam! Especially at roots!
Hi Courtney! Do you think you'll continue upright styling once you have your baby? Or will you go back to styling upside down?
This is the video I didn't know I was waiting for! And clearly, I need to try the Shape up gel. I have the other three, and usually I'll combine the Flexi Jelly with the In-shower style fixer, since the style fixer on its own tends to flash dry my hair.
My favorite of your results was the Shape up gel -- the only one i DON'T own, so thanks, Courtney. Now I need to order some!
Also! The hair make up is actually my favorite styler, ever. It holds my hair for days! When are they going to come out with a colorless version of THAT?
Hey Jill, the In-Shower Style Fixer is the colorless version of the hair makeup :) x
The in shower gel and souffle stood out to me the most, although your hair looked beautiful with all of them!
Wow, I liked all 4. After seeing your hair, I think the Hydro Jelly and the soufflé interested me. Thanks for doing this video!😄

Curlsmith is a really good brand. I had good results. They are on sale often enough because they aren’t the cheapest.
PL suggest me which one is better for dry fine wavy short high perosity & low density hair
My hair is fine, type 3 mashup, low density. I love the in shower style fixer. I don't use very much, and vary the amount of leave-in depending on the season and get soft, long lasting wash days with it.

Super fun video! Hadn't heard of one of these so I'll have to try it.
I have used the jelly and soufflé. Looks like your hair loves all these products. Gorgeous. I am going to try the protein one!
I've used the styling souffle but it gave me some flash drying issues. Hoping to try the in style shower fixer soon for that godly hold!!
I have that same issue. I’m going to try increasing the amount of cream or leave in under it to see if that helps.
Great video! I use and love the exact same shampoo and conditioner. I also use the Weightless Air Dry Cream and have tried all these gels with it.

yay! a back to back comparison, thank you!
i tried the in-shower. glad i only got the 2oz tube because, well, it doesn't make my hair feel good. i found it heavy and just waxy feeling. but, i do like the souffle' though.
Same!! I'm trying it for the first time tomorrow morning and I can't wait haha!
It’s one of my favorite gels! It doesn’t weight down my waves at all
That’s what I use on my hair, and I love it. I have fine, low-density 2c hair and the flexi-jelly is perfect.
Ha ha. Me too
I've only used!
the flexi jelly and shower fixer and love both of them
What will you recommend for thick 3a curls? It's very humid where i live and the freez is terrible 😔
If you get the bigger size it comes in squeeze tube
I use the Air dry cream and once in a while the Hydro Style gel, I wish I could try more but the fragrances are just too much. I’d love if they made a fragrance-free line up for wavies.
I feel exactly the same. I find the CurlSmith fragrances hard to bear. It is surprising that a brand making so much effort to sell quality products would not give due attention to fragrance
@@kara2310 It bugs me when great products are out of reach because of fragrance. We don’t need all the scent. It does nothing for the hair, so why so intense?
I have the Hydro Style Flexi Jelly, and I like results on wash day, but it doesn't have enough hold for me. I'd love to try the souffle!
I am still trying the in shower style fixer. But the flexi jelly works amazingly on my hair that is my favorite at this moment.
I recently switched from Curlsmith products to LUS just to try something new, and MAN do I miss my curlsmith wash days.
Did you use the shampoo and conditioner from curlsmith?
I loved all of them except #1! I think #1 was a tad bit heavy for your fine hair. But it still looked nice. It just wasn't as defined as the other gels. Super cool experiment. 👌
I so need to get the travel sizes to try.
Why does my hair get so dry and frizzy after using any of the Curlsmith gels? I use enough water and yes I tried with and without curl creams. I have also tried deep conditioning. Also doing bonding proteins and nothing works 😢 I tried all the techniques. I think my hair is damaged on top
I'm loving the Flexi Jelly and the new frizz prevention line 💙💚
Yes! It's amazing!
I just used the Shine Jelly today over Bounce Curl Clump and Define Cream-holy curl clumps! 🤍
Would be fun to try all four but super interested in the Souffle.👀
Great video, thank you!
Thank you! Also… loving your newer, shorter hair 😊
Awe, thank you so much!
The in shower fixer works great for Smasters.
Interesting. I usually use the hydro jelly but I’m wondering if the hold me softly might be better. Going to ulta later, they are having a big curlsmith sale right now. Hmmmm
Hope you managed to pick something up ;)
@@CurlsmithOfficial I got stuff for me and my 2 daughters!!! Thanks!!
love this. thank you so much!!
Thank you!
Has anybody with thick low porosity hair tried out the Curlsmith products? What are your ecperiences, what can you recommend?
Gracias por el vídeo !! Es genial ❤ me da la sensación de que el 10 en el video para que es el que menos fija ??? 😂 Que raro, me quedo con el 7
Wow! Your hair looked great with all the products. Hopefully they’ll make some glycerin free stylers soon!
Courtney have you ever tried Verb, I would love to see a video on the Verb brand!
My favourites were #4, #3 and #2. I liked the results from those ones the best! Especially #4. :D Have you tried mixing any of them?
Do you ever layer any of these gels together?
I wish you'd include fragrance in your product reviews
My personal favorite is the soufflé. They all looked look but I didn’t like the way #2 looked on you. Mainly the front. It gave the impression of greasy hair. IMO of course 😂
I liked the last one on you!
I use Hydro Style Flexi Jelly every wash day.
Shape up aqua gel
I use the flexi-jelly and I love the way it enhances my fine 2c low-density hair. However, I live in the Texas Panhandle and the wind is so bad sometimes that after being outside my hair looks like I stuck my finger in an electric socket!
I’m Also in the Texas Panhandle and have the same hair stats. I need to try the flex-jelly.
@@debbieforseth254 I keep some curl refreshing spray at work for those high-wind days. I work at WT and walk across campus all the time. I wet my hands and run them lightly over my hair, spray a bit of curl refresh on the hair and scrunch it up , and it looks fine.
Here in sweden this products is so hard to get. Thats really so sad.
Look again.
I liked the first one on you.
Awesome
Did you have a favorite?
I'm allergic to the fragrance in curlsmith and it makes me so sad. 😭
Oh no!!! I understand that trouble with fragrance.
Watch it again and love them all on your hair but not Orange Gels.
I am now using them all 😊
They are so fun! And thanks for the feedback!
I think you should be a little more clear in you intro that this is a sponsored video. Good information and comparison tho!
She was crystal clear in her writing...
@@ambivalent5842 It should be clear from the video itself. I didn't even realise it.
Also, it's been at least a year since that comment. The text may have been edited.
