@@theredrenard I used a 7.5mm hook but this comment was from 7 months ago and I’m now more experienced at crochet and I now realize a 7.5mm hook might have been too big for the yarn remember to always read the yarn label it gives a recommended hook size :)
Just got into making stuffies, and was looking to do something with the yarn my sister picked out for a blanket before she passed. I’m now making these for my whole family. Thank you for this Video you have no idea what this will mean to our family!!
I’ve been looking for a simple crochet tutorial for a tortoise/ turtle that I could make while pregnant :) so excited to make something for baby myself. Thank you for sharing this tutorial! Easy to follow, well structured and the result is adorable.

I’m going to try this. I am a total beginner to amigurumi I have made a small ball and that’s it. I saw this on tik tok and thought it was the cutest thing ever. I am going to try this so wish me luck lol.
I’m making this with normal thin yarn and it’s still a pretty good size. Perfect for my boyfriend. (I was making this for myself but he wants one so bad that I’ll make 2😂)
Et moi qui m’étais promis de faire moins de dépenses en laine…🙄😁 Merci pour vos tutos. Je les découvre petit à petit avec un inifini plaisir. C’est magnifique 😍. Salutations de Suisse😃.
T H I S T U R T L E I S B E A U T I F U L !!! I made the smaller one, and then I made the bigger turtle! Your pattern is beautiful and simple to follow! I actually made this with green shell, but I plan to do this with orange shell!
Thankyou for this great tutorial! I have a question: is it normal that my shell before stoping increasing is kind of flat? Because I have the impression that I made it correctly but it's slightly different than the video🥲
Hi! 6 single crochet in a magic ring followed by 6 increases in every round should give you a flat circle! That is exactly how you make a coaster. I don't know why in the video it starts rounding, but it seems you did follow the tutorial correctly.
Went to Walmart to get yarn got chunky. Didn't know how huge it would be. The first part (head) is as wide as my coffee table. Sooooooo I'm rushing my bf to go to the craft store with me to buy probably $100s of dollars of chunky yarn lol 😅. But it's gonna be sooo amazing!
I noticed your note that safety eyes are not recommended for children under 3. I want to make this for my newborn nephew. What alternative would you suggest? Thank you!
I wish she would explain more once she gets to the marker. I get confused right there! I do not Understand do I stop right at the marker or do I put a stitch where the marker is
This is my first time using thicker yarn and I’m having trouble telling where the V’s are and what I’m doing 😅 does anyone have any tricks?? Should I make it tighter or looser or can I just not see 😅
Is there a reason you need to pull the tail through one of the front legs I stead of just flipping it over? They will still be symmetrical by just..turning it over. Genuinely asking in case I am missing a specific reason!!
How do you keep your work from puckering and keep it flat? I’m using the same yarn type and size and hook but mine won’t stay flat it looks like a bowl. 😢
I have a question.. on the back legs how do you sc them together since it's an uneven number? 😅 which stitch do I skip?😅 Thank you in advance for any help🧡
Hello. Im crocheting this right now and im already using a 5mm hook but the magic circle just keeps curling :( i also tried it w 6mm hook but still to no avail. Do you have suggestions how to avoid curling without adding the stitches?
Depending on your yarn, you might need to try an even bigger hook. Slight curling isn’t a problem with this pattern, however. It should still work out 🙂
I have a lot of 4 weight yarn, can that be substituted for what you used ? What, if any, adjustments should I make? Thanks for your time in advance. I really like this pattern.
Is it normal for the turtle head to be floppy and not stand up by itself? Every time I make a turtle the head after connected is still floppy. What am I doing wrong?
Love the way this pattern came out for me but what i dont get is why is mine making a turtle double the size of your one with the same hook and yarn thickens? not complaining haha just ends up huge and then i look back at the video and think heeyyyy hold on a minute :D
I know this is reply is a bit late but I was trying to figure that out too. So basically if she says 2 SC, inc times 6 It means you crochet one single crochet into the first chain, then one single crochet into the next chain, then when you get to the third chain you crochet 2 single crochet in the same chain. And then that cycle goes on, meaning you will crochet one single crochet again in the fourth chain, one single crochet in the fifth chain, then 2 single crochet in the sixth chain I hope this helps!
I did everything right but Its not going as i expected 😢 Edit: its still ugly and very small, and i had to add some stichs to the head (Sorry for bad english)
So I have just finished 11 rows and the head appears to be 1/3 of the whole head, while yours at the same row is about 3/4 of the whole head. What did I do wrong? I spent almost 3 hours until this part... When you increase you go through whole loop? Or just front loop? Does it even matter? I think that I just put my hook in the wrong chains when going in rows...

Bernal blanket yarn I can’t find the size but it was a bit thicker than the tutorial srry
I use Bernat as well! I’m so excited. What size hook did you use? I’m using a 10mm one rn

THANK YOU SO MUCH I was planing to make a big turtle for my mom’s friend, I used a 9mm hook it turned out amazing! This helped A LOT!
Great tutorial. I'm new to crochet / amigurumi. I made this turtle as my second ever amigurumi piece and it came out great. Thank you!

What size hook did you use? And how big did it come out to be?
@@OfficialKillaJ I used a 11.5 hook, and it turned out, probably 3x the size of hers. It’s so fluffy and cute! I 100% recommend!
@bellaclaira oh dang that's huge! Haha thank you!!
I did not realise how big this would be and just really hope I don’t run out of yarn. I kinda wish I made the smaller version lol
Me too😬
Hi love your stuff but how think is your yarn like what size crochet hook do I use?❤
Been here for almost 2 hours and finally got it
Could you make a sea otter tutorial I think it would be sooo cute. Ps I love your videos ❤️
5:05 nobody press it this is just a reminder for me.
I just started this craft . Your video is great help
Love it!! Making one right now!❤
I needed this cause I had thin chenille yarn so I can make the normal size! I was about to use ur original one and make more sc rounds 💀
This is one of the absolute best instructions thank you 🥰

@@cherryboba1565 about 2-3 hours
How did u make it bigger. I uses 4.25 hook and came out small. I am using bernat velvet bulky 5. Did u use bulkier and bigger hook?
you are so good and this project really boosted my confidence in crochet you should be noticed more
I’m tempted to do this with an even chunkier yarn (possibly the one from Michaels) and see how large it can get😀😅
and follow the jumbo pattern instead!
j adore tous vos tutos , ils sont magnifiques ... un grand merci à vous
Thank you very much, this is very helpful.. Greetings from me from Indonesia 🇮🇩

Loves this tutorial.
I used an 8mm yarn and it ended up a little smaller (I think) but honestly it's the perfect size for me (still working on the head)

When you’re making the shell, do you have to use the same gauge yarn? I’ve got an 8 and 10 right now on hand.
Do you have a video to make the smaller version? 😊
How many skeins of yarn/meters did it take to make the turtle ie for the shell and then fins etc! Want to make this for my sister in law
Thanks for teaching!

With the head, mine just looked flat and wasn't round like yours at all. I followed the directions, what do I do?
Great tutorial! Easy to follow, simple instructions, turned out great. 👍
He’s so cute 🥰
I wish she would explain more once she gets to the marker. I get confused right there! I do not
Understand do I stop right at the marker or do I put a stitch where the marker is
when I crochet it curls and isn't flat like yours, how do i fix that?
I also have the same problem
That’s the problem I’m having with the front legs. I followed it exactly but it keeps on curling and going into a ball shape
happened to me, i put it under a heavy book for a few days and it worked
What is an increase ? Twice in same stitch ?
Do you do a single in stitch A then in stitch B do 2?
Twice un the same stitch ❤
This is great but where is part two I just have a head, fins and top of a shell.
Omg I re read part two comments soon. Ok notifications.....be reliable
It’s already up! Just updated the description 😊

Are you Australian i love your accent 😍 and thank you for the tutorial 💗
Do we have to slip stitch at the end of each round?
You did have video for a small one and I can’t find it now. Do you still have one?
Yes! It’s my second ever video. Scroll all the way down 😂

Where can I get the pattern or video for the small one
at her etsy shop!
I have a lot of 4 weight yarn, can that be substituted for what you used ? What, if any, adjustments should I make? Thanks for your time in advance. I really like this pattern.
I think the only adjustment you need would be to change your hook size in accordance with whatever kind of yarn you use!

Is it normal for the turtle head to be floppy and not stand up by itself? Every time I make a turtle the head after connected is still floppy. What am I doing wrong?
When you see your head on, it leaves a gap, so before your head is fully closed add more stuffing
Is the legs, tail and head the same size as the first video or how much more rows do I add for each?
My yarn is chunkier so i accidentally made him huge but I'm making hin weighted and i love him so much

How many grams did you use for this size of turtle

What does increase 6 time mean? Also thank you so much for this tutorial. You are a wonderful teacher!
