This turned out great! I used a 4mm hook and worsted weight yarn instead of bulky so it made a smol boi even smaller than yours but its still so cute 😍🥰🐢
For round 7 you are working into the 24 front loops from round 6, and you end up with 30 stitches because of the increases. For round 8 you are working into the 24 back loops from round 6 and only doing single crochets so it stays at 24 stitches. Hope that makes sense!

If I really can’t get the magic ring to work with plush yarn, sometimes I will cave and make the MR with acrylic yarn and then do the stitches inside the MR with plush yarn so that was it’s the acrylic you have to pull closed! I feel your pain haha
If anyone else ended up with a wonky transition between the shell and belly, you can do an invisible fasten off, weave the ends in, and use a color change to start the belly (if that makes sense) Great tutorial BTW, this is my new favorite thing to crochet!
Made a green one a blue one with Estako velvet yarn off Amazon. I couldn’t get the back loop/front loop situation happening to create that ridge on the shell for some reason. I definitely enjoyed this video, and it helped me a lot, but I struggled with working in the back loops only for the shell because I couldn't see where you were inserting your hook.
Hello! I have a little question! I am a beginner and I couldn't really understand what you did in R3: (sc, inc) x 6 (18) part. ( 2:13) What did you do for each stich? Can you explain? Im sorry if thats a dumb question im just a beginner and i am trying to learn!
a SC is a single crochet, while a INC is when you add two single crochet in one same stitch, therefore increasing the number of stitches. so in this case you will do a single crochet and then two single crochets on the next stitch, repeating for 6 times. hope this helps! 🥰
great tutorial! ended up with an adorable lil sea turtle! I did sew on the head a little bit more so it was more secure, but overall a very nice (almost) no-sew turtle :)

Soooo I made this and while it’s cute I def had to do some stitching. I wouldn’t suggest as a beginner to it although it’s cute. It’s hard to crochet in the fins and especially the head. I would rather sow in. Also in the row after it’s very confusing as to how to do the decreases after sowing in the fins and head. I improvised for the last part and also somehow ended up with too many stitches? But thank you for the tutorial!!! My turtle is cute!!!

I added a tail to the turtle by chaining 3 and sc 2 going down the chain, then slip stitch on the same stitch you started with. Hope this helps 🙂
My turtle’s tail was a little too short, so I recommend doing 4 chains and 3 sc going down instead to make it longer and more visible.

I do a slip stitch and chain two in a smaller hook or tighter tension then do the 6 Sc into the first chain to prevent tearing the yarn :)
