i really REALLY wanted to see something like what i saw with the mushroom platforms, wonderful.
That was awesome, especially how sometimes one char would be pushed back because jumping to late, but ending up on the platforms again, since they were raising so quick at the end.
note to self: when it goes really fast, keep jumping
@@rexidue Sadly normal jumps don't help! You need to bounce off another player, since you'll be height boosted! + doubles the airtime (for jumping on them, and back off)
If you look at 25:41 frame-by-frame, you can see all of them get the toad block but the game changes it up to only give it to Mario.

Holy shit you're right. Good find! I've been noticing through the video that in games where a tie is supposed to be "impossible" the computer will simply assign a winner, and it seems that the player chosen to win is predetermined by some matrix, because its the same player every time, but it changes based on the game.
Also at 3:52 I'm pretty sure everyone was at the exact same point, but the game gave the win to Mario.
Either Mario was slightly ahead or it was Port Priority due to Mario being Player 1.
@@ToaderTheToad The most likely explanation is that the game checks and updates player states in order each frame, so it updates player 1 first, then 2 and so on. If all players try to grab the same object on the same frame, the game would assign the object to the first player checking whether there is a loose object in front of them and will update both the player and the affected object first before checking the rest.
Some programmer of the game came forward and revealed that in the event of a tie, player one is selected as the winner every time (in the games that don’t allow ties)
How to do Mario Party TAS

it's amazing how even in frame perfect runs, some minigames are still rng dependent on the winner, some minigames even show to have a bias to a certain player (like Daisy on the horse racing minigame in 3)

Most of the minigames are like eh we’ll randomly choose a player or something like ‘eh, they won by a nanosecond’. Most of the minigames don’t believe in draws
When there must be a winner but everyone wins in the same exact frame, it will default to player 1 as the winner

In Mario party there is no randomness for some reason for example the dice of the four players are selected from the start of the turn this was corrected in Mario party 3
That does explain why in a video I saw where players did literally nothing sometimes the games would be draws and others they'd just pick a winner.

I guess if you jump at the perfect moment, you won't be counted as being in the water. Plus the mushrooms come up so fast that by the time the character comes down, it will land on the mushrooms instead of the water at that point.

Demfro Degroot Remember that GPs (or Hip Drops, as the first games called them) make the timing a lot easier (they stall you in the air), and that if another person loses, the mushrooms stay underwater for longer (like the hexagons do in Mario Party 2), and so you'll probably draw with this.
@@demfrodegroot7596 it looks like you also have to land on the opponent to pull that off. If you don't well then you still survive by landing on the mushroom

If you watch it at 0.25 speed and zoom in, it seems as if Mario passes the finish line in the air first.
Also it depends on who touches the ground first

personally, I think it is bullshit that there can only be 1 winner for the jump rope in 2 and otherwise ending in a draw. If you can perfectly time 99+ jumps (yes I know it's TAS but some players are that good) then whoever survived should all be a winner.
