I’ve always loved blue jays, as we have many in my oak tree - heavy New Jersey neighborhood. I love seeing jay fledglings play with the clothesline and other items in our backyard. Thanks for a great video, which actually taught me a lot!
Thanks Lily. Glad to see the close up of these birds and I have learnt a lot from you apart from Taichi. Beautifully filmed and very informative and I surely will follow your channel for your forthcoming videos.
Hello my name is Jackie I live in Houston Tx and I enjoy having coffee in the morning in my backyard watching these beautiful blue Jay birds in my yard, I would love to set up a feeder for them but I also have lots of squirrels that I don’t want to feed they’ve chewed through my house and I can hear them running in my attic and I just want to keep them out. So I’m afraid that with a bird feeder they’ll never leave for sure . What can or should I do so I can really enjoy these beautiful birds?
I suggest to set up the feeding station further away from the house and away from trees, get the squirrel proof bird feeder plus a baffle ....if the squirrels cannot get the seeds or peanuts from the feeders, they will go away .....
I do feed squirrels and Grackles, but I have a feeding station for Blue Jay’s and Red Cardinals only, sometimes doves. I used a Brome Squirrel Buster Plus feeder with Safflower seed (squirrels and Grackles generally don’t like).
@@lilywongbirdsnature3644 Thanks Lily...actually saw one this afternoon. So hoping they will make this a regular stop again. Just a lovely, entertaining bird!
Lily Wong ,i catch a Blue Jay but a few Feather are gone i Heard that it can grow back the only Problem i have if a blue jay hurt it claws or leg can it be healed .let me know if you found a blue jay that hurt it claw or legs an tell me how that goes.
Feathers are important to birds. They are not only for flight, they also help birds to keep warm and dry. May be they are in moulting stage. See my other video on "Moulting Blue Jay". I have seen some birds survive with one leg and they adapt being one-legged. But it depends on how bad is the injury.
very very thankful 👍
Most welcome

This was interesting. I put shelled nuts out everyday for Bluejays.
Thanks Ryan! Bluejays are smart and they keep coming back for their treats!

Thanks Michael! Glad you like the video!
Lily, can you tell me...I had several blue jays at my feeder over the winter but this spring they seem to have disappeared. Any idea why?
Did you see or hear any blue jays in your area? Just be patient! They like to come back and visit the same feeder.

Great video Lily.
I’d never have thought blue jays live so long. Are red jays related to blue jays ?
Not that I know of!

11th fact: Blue Jays Fight and Rival Hawks.
12th fact: They sometimes kill baby birds
Thanks for the info!
@@lilywongbirdsnature3644 No problem!
Where do birds go when they die…….we do not see them hardly ever……..
"Blue jays aren't blue"
*Explains how colors work*
Yeah all colors are the light reflected off of something. This is wrong.
