Wii was backwards compatible with GameCube, and WiiU was backwards compatible with Wii. The switch was the first that wasn’t at least somewhat backwards compatible. I bet the new console will be backwards compatible with switch, unless they’ve shaken that philosophy completely now

I think a really cool route to take for smash if they did a new game would be to go back to a smaller roster (64 or melee) and having different variations of every character, kind of like Mortal Kombat X For example: you pick Mario, and then another selection pops up for which Mario, and they’d have 64 Mario, Paper Mario, odyssey Mario, sunshine Mario, galaxy Mario etc. For link you have young link, twilight/wolf link, botw link, windwaker For Dk it could be Dk64, Mario vs donkey Kong, and the current dk country For Luigi you could do paper Luigi, Luigi’s mansion, So even if you only have 12 characters, each one has different variations to play. Obviously this would be a very different route but I think it would reduce the stress of trying to top the ultimate roster

But Steve is that broken that he isn’t forced to get rid of his bad habits because he can still win with them. Steve as a character is similar to puff in melee, in that they don't get upset much. They aren't scrapping in neutral and aren't in danger of SD'ing. Most of the cast has no answer for even getting around blocks. Acola is amazing but I don't think he is any less upset prone than Sparg0. Its just, Sparg0 plays a character that is way more volatile.
Acola will never be considered the true number 1 until he plays another character. Hes hard carried by Steve as is every other Steve player who came out of left field.
