  • Do you hate Spain and want to go back to the UK? Find out why some expats hate Spain and want to go back to the UK.
    Listen as your genial host Skatz gives a more balanced view of Tommy's rantings and ravings, borrowed from actual expats who've now hopefully left Spain. Thank you to them for providing the laughs.

    On the Spanish Mediterranean coast there are many British retirees who voted in favor of Brexit, something inexplicable, but it was also inexplicable that living for many years in Spain they did not want to learn a word of Spanish...now they complain because the same rules are applied to them than non-EU immigrants and must legalize their situation and pay taxes. Many of them are returning to their island, for Spain it is a blessing, they did not contribute anything. Now many professionals come from the EU and also from the UK and create wealth here. There are also many retirees from EU countries, from the USA, Canada, Australia, NZ..., but they integrate into Spanish society, they not only come as parasites , the British, especially the English have not yet understood that Queen Victoria is dead....

      Fortunately it’s actually only a small percentage of English immigrants that are like that. Where I’m living they make the effort to integrate.

    "They all speak Spanish!" "They *are* Spanish..." Brilliant! Had that exact conversation with a guy near us in Orihuela recently. Believe it or not, he's an ex-UKIP Councillor who sees absolutely no contradiction in the fact that he moved to Spain for a better life where his money goes further & the fact that he was an active (local) politician for a party whose entire shtick is demonising migrants, many of whom do it for economic reasons. He's a neighbour & now avoids me when he sees me because he knows I won't indulge his nonsense & will tell him straight about the economic & social hardship people like him have wrought on the UK thanks to their xenophobic bullshit.

    I know someone moving g back to the UK after choosing the wrong location, it's rural and when I say rural I mean rural, in the mountains in El Puertocico. Personally they need somewhere like Vera Playa or Mojar Playa and it's all down to not doing their research.

    • @youtoospain
      @youtoospain  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That seems to happen a lot. I wonder why they didn’t just move somewhere less rural.

    • @davewalkden9978
      @davewalkden9978 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      And budget. El Puertecico money doesn't get you a Vera Playa house/apartment. That's the problem. They want the "ex-pat" (hate that phrase) lifestyle, surrounded by Brits all dining on roast beef & Yorkshire puds, served by English-speaking staff but they've only got the money to live half-way up a mountain somewhere where the locals (quite rightly) speak Spanish & eat traditional Spanish food.

    Lol great vid. Customer service from major shops is great and I don't speak Spanish well atleast not yet.
    Local roads are not great but then I only pay 200 euros a year whereas in harrogate I pay 1800 a year. The only bad experience I have had is off the English absolutely rubbish refurbishment of my bathroom. I have just found out that the large do it all suppliers do bathrooms etc to a high standard. Wish I had gone there . But atleast the views are great and spain is chilled . I love it .

      If the companies you want to pay in Spain will accept payments from Revolut or Wise then that would be one solution. You could do it through Smart Currency Exchange and get a fixed rate of exchange, they can direct your Euros straight to the billing companies.
