    Bruhh, I have a Mac Mini + MacBook and I’m transitioning 100% to iOS music production for real (unless I’m trying to). But I have to confess that I made up my mind because of you, you always nailed it. I think this is the future for musicians and producers, greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷 Keep it up!

    I've seen a lot of people use AUM like a kind of modular composition tool for experimental or electronic music. A modular approach to beatmaking is seriously brilliant, man. I solved the problem I was having getting some loops to sync properly for a DnB track I gave up on in like five minutes after watching this. Instant subscribe.

    I love your channel. You always come up with new ways of using things and it’s just invaluable. I love AUM but do not use it a whole lot because my workflow is geared towards creating full songs. I haven’t found a good way to do that in AUM although I’m told it can be done. Also, you are excellent at explaining things. Very detailed and on point. Thanks for the video!

    Great video Henny! I’ve been enjoying AUM for feeding sounds into and out of Koala, more as a signal router. In terms of producing arrangements, AUM isn’t the best for me, because if you want to introduce variations and tweaks along the way, it’s a pain because you’ve committed to loops. So you basically have to re-record parts as audio clips. May as well just do this stuff directly in a DAW where you can lay out your parts, modify and arrange them all in one place. Where AUM excels is for signal routing and live recording IMO.

    So you start with pre played loops and record them in AUM, when you can just export the individual parts as stems from Blocwave and import them directly in AUM loop players. Saves even more time👍🏻

    Good video. Also, there is an easier way to import your sounds from Blocs Wave. Simply export the project files to your Files Folder on the iPad or iPhone. Blocs Wave will save them as a .zip file which you can simply touch to extract all the files from your Blocs Wave session. No recording necessary in AUM. Just go to files on your iPad from AUM and then load the WAV files into separate channels. This will definitely speed up your workflow.

    • @TheDonLemonSnickety
      @TheDonLemonSnickety 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve been using Koala to do lots of stuff with super easy vocal loop recording. I’ll beatbox into a sample block and then copy the sample into a handful of pads....then I just trim each of them to get the specific beatboxing sounds isolated and then sequence away! You can also easily resample the beatboxing using some solid built in effects and record that into another cell before you copy them cut it into individual beatbox “drums”. Using this approach I’ve come up with some really unique sounding work (*I do typically add some proper drum samples to the project and 808 subs to make more the beat have a “drop” sequence that bangs harder but still retains the human qualities of my voice which I try to make sure has tone adjusted to be heard over the 808 type stuff
      Not sure if this helps at all but I figured I’d mention since I love using beatboxing, foley sounds, and other random field recordings as part of my rhythms, so they have an organize quality but can still hit without letting them get too cluttered of course

    Great stuff bruh❗I'm transitioning, and so far AUM, Audiobus and the sort are fascinating. I hadn't really considered recording stems, but your breakdown got me open. DSP load had my iPad sounding like a fresh bowl of Rice Krispies. 😅 I'd have 3 or 4 mods playing and try to add an effect.. it got real crunchy swiftly. Oh, and I had to grab Koala FX and AudioShare. I'm 'bout to get busy❗ Stay smooth. 👊🏽 😏

I’ve only been using it on my phone and the main thing that’s been tough to get used to is atom but other than that it’s really fun, especially the tempo changing. If they could add a way to record in to a file player track so you don’t have to go through the record,add,add,add process that’d make this app even better for me

    Hey Henry, have you tried Blocs Wave stem export to Audioshare then long press a stem there to open as a file player in AUM. Then if you copy that channel in AUM you’ll have immediate access to the other files in that AudioShare folder. Also, by duplicating the file player channel it duplicates the settings so need to hit loop and sync each time. Can’t help feeling these shortcuts would super speed up the initial setup here. Great content & enthusiasm as usual though. Kudos!

    Thank you Henny for a tutorial on this workflow! I notice you are working with bluetooth headphones as I am. Could you explain how you deal with the latency? When recording Waves loops into AUM I end up recording a little bit extra, resulting in 16.5 or 17 beats instead od 16. So they dont perfecly loop or out of sync. Does any one elsenhave similar timing issues with AUM?

    • @madtho

    I’m thinking you could use blocs wave with a similar workflow to what Timbaland does where he makes a rough idea track with the mic and then he just plays along and fills in the track to get the parts. Then just remove the scratch track when you are done. Probably could do the same with loopy or something even. I just realized I’ve watched this already but I’m getting more out of it this time as I try and figure out my apps/effects and workflow.
