- It's the day after Thanksgiving and I figuered many of you may need a calming video after having conversations with your family, so hopefully this will cure what ails you. This dose of barista therapy is chock full of coffee goodness with some manual lever espresso and a swap to some fresh grinder burrs.

Who else spotted the bean that bounced out when pouring into the grinder? *Clearly* the shot was ruined by the missing .02g 😂
The one that got away.
I loved the silent noir cinema treatment and the escaped bean who will live on after a guest appearance!
@@Sprometheus Sort of a when you love it, you have to let it go situation? 😆
Haha I thought exactly the same thing. It happens to me everytime I load my Option O as well. There’s always a rogue bean on the floor
All my thoughts go towards the lost bean at 5:25 😔
Haha yeah usually I track them down and they get back in with the rest but that one was nowhere to be found.
Great Really Relaxing and informative. I am constantly amazed that only around 10% of viewers click the like button. I feel that many, many more do actually enjoy your uploads.
Thanks Steve. And yeah, it’s interesting how TH-cam works and how folks consume content.
The one I find most wild is the percentage of viewers broken down into subs and non-subs. Channel wide it’s like 10% are subs and 90% are not. But, as long as folks watch and enjoy in the end the numbers aren’t as important.
@@Sprometheus that just means your channel has a really wide appeal and very natural growth potential, and the algo is supporting your work. It's way harder as a creator when 70% of your views are subscribers (I work with a few smaller, but still monetized, channels). A sign that your content is very well liked but not being promoted, or is too niche for a wider audience.
Moral is I think you are in a great spot, keep up the excellent work!
That was the sexiest espresso video I've seen in a long time, and I've seen some good stuff
Glad to hear you enjoyed! Cheers!
As a longtime lever aficionado, let me just say:
You have arrived! 😁
Beautiful, atmospheric video!
Haha, I enjoy a lever from time to time. Trying to get another couple on the bar in the coming year.
I have a portafilter from them and wood feels like plastic and not real solid wood. But they insisted that it was even though it was dented like fake plastic wood.
That was bloody lovely!! Never thought I'd see such a well crafted and relaxing video about making espresso. Thanx very much 🙂
I really enjoy watching your videos, making good espresso is a ritual 🙂
Thanks Peter! I appreciate you watching and the kind words.
I heard once when your espresso machine comes in suitcase you know you got the one! Here we go same for lever. Nice compact carrying case with all you need to brew. Thank you buddy for another nice video.
I can’t say ive heard that before haha. But it is a cool little novelty. May come in handy for travel. Anyway, thanks for watching and commenting!
For a few months now i am fed up with all the coffee videos and same reviews on youtube (even JH, LH etc)… just been only enjoying my morning coffee routine. However - i always come back to watch your stuff as it’s pure, down to earth without all the noise and pomp. 👌
Thank you for the kind words. I understand where you’re coming from. Personally I don’t watch much if any coffee content these days, but I aim to just stay true to my personal style and enjoy what I do.
Happy Thanksgiving my friend.
Same to you! Cheers!
Beautifully cinematic, I wish my morning coffee routine was so zen!
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Good job👍
Thank you 🙏
Damn sir! Simply Perfect!
You certainly got a lot of time in the morning :). Nice vid!
When it’s your job to make coffee it’s easy to find the time to make coffee haha.
Really enjoy these videos, thanks
Thank you my friend! Glad you enjoy.
this is absolutely wonderful video 👏👏👏
Thank you my friend!
Bit of a faff doing the shot into a steel cup then poring into a ceramic cup so both have to be warmed up or the espresso loses heat quickly.
Interesting. The Sonic S7 is like an ultra big, ultra luxurious version of a Flair 58.
chillin
Great videography, beautifully lit, fabulous music, calming and relaxing workflow. Uh, ... then I think about your single camera setup and how it took you two and a half tons of effort to produce this. The dichotomy just boggles.
Thank you! And yeah, with one camera it’s a labor of love to make it look seamless and effortless.
How does the tamper compare to something like a Force Tamper?
What about the group's thermal stability? How long does it take to heat it up and how quickly does it cool down?
How to determine the temperature and understand that you can already brew espresso?
great video. really enjoyed it. can't wait for the video. the build quality looks insane. and I too want that tamper! what basket did you use with it?
Thanks Mark. I have a full length review on the near horizon. And yeah the tamper is pretty satisfying to use. I think it’s on Amazon if you want it on its own. The basket was the 18g option that came in the portafilter, I assume by the same company.
The MHW 30lb tamper works well and has that nice 'click' like the classic force tamper. I've had one for about 2 months. I am still mixed on the ripple base as it can have coffee stick to it a bit. I also have the 58 18gram basket and it makes good espresso. It dose not drop the puck as easy as some of those nanotech baskets.
Yeah I’m relatively happy with the tamper itself. Works well, and is satisfying to use and look at, but I have the same issue with grinds sticking. I haven’t used the larger basket, but the smaller one seems to work solid so far.
I just ordered this.. Hope it won't stick too much.. Else is it possible to unscrew the tamp head and replace it?
@@Sprometheusthe mhw-3bomber DEX 22g is my current fav basket for my GS3MP.
Guys … we need some uplifting music here! My vote goes for AC/DC‘s „Back in Black“! 🤟🤟🤟
Gorgeous video, I used to pull night owl for months before switching to Proud Mary's Humbler blend. I may go back to night owl soon! Does option O make those burrs for the p100? I also have those little metal dosing cups, the metal is so thin, those things get blistering hot haha. My only complaint, otherwise I love the little oz markings on the side.
How much is the new Mizen 64ES burr set similar to SSP 64mm HU burrs?
That video really sets a mood. Nice! How are you liking the Mizen ES vs Multipurpose? I just picked up a 2nd hand P64 with SSP HU, which sports a very similar geometry.
Curious about this as well. Thanks for all the content!
thank you, inspiring
Just a cup of coffee you have go through the ceremony, really.
I would of been 45 min late for work. Batch brew ftw
I have just purchased the Sonic S7 and my Profitec Pro 700, much to its chagrin, is being totally ignored. I love the machine and its beautiful craftsmanship. Two minor quirks though, I find that the machine continues to drip after a shot. Indeed when I take out the portafilter it has a pool of water sitting above the puck screen which I invariably spill on my scales. Two questions for you: 1. Have you experienced this and how did you overcome? and 2. when locking in the portafilter how do you counter the lateral movement of the machine. There is nothing obvious yo hold on to.
How much did you pay for the S7?
The dripping issue that you mentioned is a common quirk of almost all manual lever machines, which is due to the nature of their design. What you need to do is place another cup to catch the drips and push the remainder of the water out before you disengage the portafilter.
What is the thing that makes lagom p64 has permanent alignment ?
Amazing video as always.
Will you review this machine and compare it to the flair?
Save you some time. Same but without the heater and a built in screen.
Thanh you Oren. And yeah a review is coming. I don’t have the Flair anymore, but I’ll definitely mention how they compare in my previous experience.
nice! i was also a beta tester for the ES :)
So far they've been very solid. I don't find myself missing my SSP MP's too much yet.
@@Sprometheus yes, they are very pleasant and i enjoy the Speed Upgrade while grinding 🙂
❤❤❤ Love Is Important ☕☕☕
Indeed my friend! Have a good weekend.
I would very much like the option of a voiceover track for these videos.
Can you make comparison between this lever machine and flair 58, please also compare the travel bag between the two. thank you. love your video
I realy like everything mhw are doing but i didnt bought this machine because its not pid'ed and i fear it would suck up to much heat from water ... i went with ALM KOPI instead , i really really really like it ! ... very nice vid coffee bro !
Yeah it’s definitely a classic manual lever in the way that it doesn’t run any internal heat or anything. It’s all water heat. But glad you found something you enjoy! Thanks for watching
@@Sprometheus does it reach an acceptable temperature after being preheated ? Thanks
How do you like the 64es so far?
I have a Gaggia Classic and a Eureka Mignon grinder. Can I ask? Is a La Marzocco or a Gaggia better than a manual lever machine, and why? Thanks
Nice, but what about steaming milk with it?) all these new levers can’t reach La pavoni 😄
How's the heat management on this? It looks even harder than the robot.
Hi. Great video. Have you had a chance to use the new Lagom 01 with 102 burr set for espresso? Would love to hear your thoughts on that one. Thx for all your content.
So this or the Flair 58? Thank You!
So we getting the full review, right?
Yeah, possibly by the end of December.
Great video. Very pleasant. How is the temperature stability of the lever? Does it get up to temp for light roasts? What is the max volume you can extract?
Would you be able to provide a link for the tamper? TX
2nded
How do you like it?
While i know coffee machines and grinders are a lot of money compared to a wdt tool, why would you send $50 on it? When $3 gets you one.
No shot this is your routine, great video though
I don't exactly know what routine means but it's definitely not a sane man's routine
wasting half of your life to make one coffee ...
Are you a housefly? If your lifespan is 8 minutes you should probably be spending it doing more than failing to make funny comments on TH-cam.
Beautiful video :)
Any thoughts on the differences between SSP HU and these new Mizen burrs?
